party on saturday was kinda hectic and loud, but fun. hired in help to run disco and games was a GOOOD move. they kept the party moving while we dealt with the tearful , the fighting and tea.
Dspite our request for NO presents at party boy ( and co host girl) were both given a fair number, which he is now opening at one a day. thank goodness MOST people took the request at face value and didn;t bring one or we would be opening tat till eater. Amusingly, the present given by " but I would feel embarrassed not bringing a present" mum is something boy dislikes... so I shall be regifting that one.

Pancakes today- yummmy.
Boys birthday thursday. new bike prepped and hiden in loft.

exhausted after birthday week! We have DS a wooden garage which he loves (and so does DD2!) on wednesday, and he took cakes to kindy and we had a family dinner (ordered pizza - his favourite and no washing up, yay!).

saturday was the super hero party - it was VERY hot and we hadn't planned extra shade - just had one large umbrella for adults to huddle under! Kids didn't mind much, but we onlt played two games as nobody wanted to stand about in the sun running 'musical super heroes', and the kids were pretty happy just running about.

DS got some lovely gifts - lots and lots and lots of lego, which is his favourite thing at the moment, and requires very little storage room, so that makes me happy too! He also got a gift of soccer lessons and shin pads for next term, which he is excited about, but also being a bit funny about, as he doesn't like going to new classes/groups without a buddy. I really hope he doesn't refuse to join in. He is normally a happy, easy going boy, but can be extremely stubborn about things like this.

Anyway, sigh of relief that its over, despite being fun. I didn;t know what to do with myself today, my list of party 'to do's is gone!

Borisismyhousespider · 14/03/2011 22:47

Glad you girls had fun birthdays with your boys Smile Uni what kind of bike have you got boy?
We've hitched dd2's stabilisers up (not told her) was giggling to myself yesterday as she wobbled along the street, with one hitting the road, then none, then the other side, she's slowly getting balancing without realising it Grin
I'd love it to be HOT here Astro Smile it got warm ish in the garden this afternoon, but it froze overnight last night and prob will again tonight!

Spent a lot of time today digging a hole for a fence post, two hours to be precise, as there was a stuffing tree root in the way (dead tree that had been chopped down) had to saw, chisel, drill and stab until my dad and I broke through it (and the 1st post had gone in like a dream! but hey when do you ever get a job done in an afternoon that you have planned eh?) ah well, that's my weekend over, back to work tomorrow....leaving my poor old dad to try and finish the job on his own....(got 3 out of 6 posts in today....I think he'll rope my mum in tomorrow for a spot of assistance..either that or it'll have to wait until next week.)

UniS · 16/03/2011 19:53

Boys bike = an Isla bike beinn 20. or in english -its red, it has 2 x 20 inch wheels with road ( quite skinny for a kids bike) tyres, mudguards, 7 gears with twist shift. short pull brakes. and ist loverly.

He can ride to school all teh way now ( gears are good) and can ride at a good speed. He took it into school for show n tell the day after his birthday and managed to ride a little slalom course teh TA set up for him! I'm very proud mum.

Evening all, just admiring the bike Uni...puts K's purple tassly bike in the shade Wink. Mind you like your DD2 Boris she is on high stabilisers and did 3 miles last week. She is very keen to get out on the tag along soon too. Next weekend I want to get her off stabilisers if I can....

Caddy how you doing?

Astro...we had sun this weekend but it was still chilly...please send some proper sunshine via FB or something!

I am creeping round the house as I did a 10k training run yesterday to see if my legs felt any better in my bouncy new runners...they were fine...after 3 miles!! Achey today though of course. I need to do some cross training - fencing sounds like hard work Boris. Maybe I'll dig some holes myself...

Guess who's 39 on Tues??Shock erk!

The parties so far sound very hectic...we are having 10 girls and walking them up home after school next Tues..might go to the park then by the time they're home and changed into party clothes we'll just have time for food and games before they're collected...all being well!

K had a very funny hissy fit at tea time today because DP had made chips that weren't "cuboid" Grin.

Astrophe · 21/03/2011 02:19

Great work on the running LL! Hope you don't lose too many of your 10 girls on the way home from school Wink.

Uni, how long do you expect the 20" to last DS for? my DS is still on his 14", and its ok, but on the small side, and I've been horrified how quickly hes grown out of it (only had it a year). He mainly uses his scooter at the moment anyway, but I wonder if part of the reason is that his bike is too small? which seems a shame, as he was SO keen a year ago when he moved from balance bike to 'real' bike. DD still has her 14" too, and her knees knock her ears as she goes along :o . Might need to ebay for some bigger ones - we spent too much on the last lot I think, and they outgrew them too quickly.

How goes the fence Boris?

You wont want any of our weather on FB LL - we've had rain all weekend but its still pretty warm, so humid and nasty, and everyone at school is getting gastro Shock including DDs teacher who left at midday last tuesday and is only back this week. Nits are running ramant too...eeeewww!

Astrophe · 21/03/2011 02:20

Oh, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY for tuesday LL!!!! Wine

UniS · 21/03/2011 19:43

The beinn20 small is reckoned to be for 5- 7 yr olds, it will give him 11cm of leg growing before hes over the seat post max adjustment. and once hes got legs that long he should fit a 24 inch wheel bike.

I'd skip a 16 and go straight for a 20 if you can find one that will fit. The beinn 20 small is a VERY small frame, teh seat is barely higher than the wheel. The 14inch lasted boy about 20 months. Hes been looking "too big for it" since christmas. I'm hoping we can sell the 14 inch on for about 50 % of purchase price. We did try boy on a 16 inch, his cousins old bike, but the geometry was rubbish. For boy to reach the ground the saddle was so low he couldn't pedal as knees were up round his ears. put seat at right height for peddling and he couldn't get on... bike built for use with stabilisers.

Borisismyhousespider · 21/03/2011 22:30

That bike looks great Uni Smile dd1 here really needs a bigger bike now... and dd2 is starting to need her bike (just once we get her off those stabilisers!) I think ss probably needs an adult bike too....which is a shame, as dd1 won't quite fit on his bike yet due to the cross bar! drat!

Happy Birthday for tomorrow LL Smile

Astro, you can keep the bad weather and the nits then Wink we actually had a nice day here today, so I took the opportunity to weedkiller the garden Grin but it was so nice to take the kids to the park after school and not be freezing!

Borisismyhousespider · 28/03/2011 22:15

Boo where are you all then?

UniS · 30/03/2011 20:51

I'm here.

OP posts:
Astrophe · 03/04/2011 11:01

sorry for the silence!
I'm here, end of a busy weekend for us, with DD1s first netball game on saturday, friends for dinner sat night, then DD1 had a netball gala day today - she went with friends, while DH and I and DD2 went to a baptism (we are the godparents :o) and DS had to be dropped at my mums house because he was up vomiting in the night! Argh! Did some gardening this arvo and got everyone to bed now, but need to tidy the house, fold washing and get uniforms and lunches ready for school tomorrow before the day is done. And do I feel like doing it? err...no.

Last week of school for us now, the 2 and a bit weeks holidays. Yay! We've survived our first term! We are off to the beach for the first week, then back for the second, and will be trying to knuckle down and do some sorting of the house so that we can rearrange bedrooms etc for new little one. In reality I'm not sure I'll get much done with DH at work as I can't lift much with spd...but should be able to sort boxes if DH moves them in the mornings.

Have decided on a car: www.kia.com.au/cars/showroom/Grand_Carnival?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=kia%20grand%20carnival&utm_campaign=Retail|Model|Grand%20Carnival&gclid=CKvInZ-LgKgCFc2DpAodF3Ogpw

although we don;t plan to buy new. Its not a pretty car, but very practical - sliding doors on both sides, you can remove a seat from the middle row so that there is an aisle for the kids to use to get into the back row...DH is still resigning imself to driving a bus, but I think it will work for us.

And how are you lot?

Astrophe · 03/04/2011 11:02

sorry, Kia Grand Carnival

Borisismyhousespider · 04/04/2011 21:21

Good choice of car there Astro, my dad has one (the one I borrowed for a month, when we moved!) it's great, got through all the mega snow we had up here (only car to make it up our old street before we dug the road out, it just steamed through!) I loved it (just couldn't afford one even 2nd hand here, that was new enought that it wouldn't keep breaking with the miles I now subject our car too daily!)
Have a great holiday Smile and enjoy the beach!

Uni, how goes it?

Nothing much happening here, we put up a new fence (my dad and I) a few weeks ago and last week, the neighbours at the bottom of the garden who are between our house and next door (so half a garden each) decided to take all their border trees down (leilandi....possibly prompted by our new fence? we put it up, so we weren't constantly looking into their garden and so people can't nip through and burgle us) BUT they also took down some of next doors hedge....(they're hopping mad! oopse) I guess I've been mainly tackling the garden (weedkiller and mowing/hacking/slashing ivy, it's riddled)

Did you all have a good mothers day (UK Mums?) I got brunch made for me, a pile of cards, home made and shop brought! (crafting central!) and taken out for tea at the pub, hurrah!

UniS · 04/04/2011 23:48

ALl right down here in the south. wild and windy night. school playground has been a bit wild and windy all last week, probably similar this week. kids all a bit scatty and end of termy.

Hello little gang,

Sat here feeling a bit morose as just back from a funeral of someone the same age as me. It was heartbreaking watching his young sons throw their roses into the graveSad. It shouldn't happen to any family eh?

Sorry to so gloomy...just waiting for DP to pop home from work for a hug and then I need to get myself together for a work meeting at 3pm and parents evening at 6.

I've had 3 days in London so hardly seen the girls this week...have to admit I even missed them Smile.

On a positive note my garden is looking great...I love seeing the brown turn to green and have tulips and daffs out as well as some brazen purple drumstick primulas Grin.

Hugs to you all as I'm feeling soppy!

Borisismyhousespider · 11/04/2011 22:39

Awww {{{hugs}}}} LL, never a good thing to have to go through Sad

Garden coming up with various bulbs and brambles here, depsite having been weedkillered! sigh.....

Had a very indulgent pre Easter hols weekend here, went to NEC for a horse show yesterday (friend had won tickets, so took me!) then we popped to another friends for dinner on way home, so dh had kids by himself all day Grin Then today I met another friend up in York for the day, so lots of coffee and cake consumed with good chat Smile Dh get's his own back next weekend as he's off doing roleplay stuff with his mates overnight on the sat! (he got off lightly as I came home and made packed lunches and did breakfast this morning!)

Borisismyhousespider · 14/04/2011 22:16

boo! are you all ready for the Easter hols then? our's break up tomorrow (are some of you already on hols?)

UniS · 15/04/2011 23:41

One week into teh easter hols already. So far we have done very little. Boy has slept a lot most mornings.
he has also been on a one night hiking and camping adventure with DH & A day out to visit a castle with me. AT home we have made a caterpillars from egg boxes, moved the toy farm up stairs, vacuumed teh house, cooked a cake and watched DVDs. pretty calm and quiet really. He needs to re-charge his batteries after his first school term I think.

Astrophe · 16/04/2011 12:28

Sorry to hear about your friend LL :(

Back from a week at the beach here, so also one week into holidays. We had the most gorgeous autumn weather and spent every morning on the beach, went home for lunch (or fish and chips at beach), then DD2 slept while DD1 and DS watched a movie and DH and I either napped or read...bliss! The most relaxed I've been in a long time. We ate out a lot so didn;t cook much at all, and some friends were holidaying up the road, so we even had a few hours of babysitting and went out to posh seafood restaurant for lunch :)

This week we are planning catch-ups with friends we don't see much during term time, and my bro and SIL are down from QLD so we will see a bit of them too. Then we have a super long weekend because Easter and ANZAC day fall together, so 5 days with DH home :) Hoping to do some eating with friends and family for Easter, and also hoping to rope my parents into to helping us with the kids so we can do some sorting and furniture moving in prep for baby (25 weeks ish now, still feeling sick, but its pretty mild, so mostly coping ok).

Borisismyhousespider · 17/04/2011 09:01

Uni, aww ds is a bit wiped out eh, I remember my friends little boy being exactly the same {{hugs}} for him Smile The holiday sounds lovely so far though, fingers x'd for another good week of weather for you.

Astro your holiday sounds heavenly Smile apart from the sickness of course, I can hear you smile through your typing Grin Enjoy having dh home for the 5 days!

So far I have dd1 in bed refusing to get up as holidays are 'boring' (I think she's wanting to do some things without dd2 in tow......) dd2 is up and bouncing having dragged me out of bed at 7.30 on a Sunday, despite my protests that it's the weekend! (Dh is at the store running a 24 hr roleplay event!! so won't see him or ss until tonight) I've managed to fill the 1st week up already though, with visiting or visitors and new playdates for the girls, plus a few grandma days when I have to work (doing one day on, one day off!) so fingers x'd we should have a good week. Dh is off Sunday, Monday, so at least we get to see him for 2 days for two weeks!

Astrophe · 23/04/2011 12:36

Hope you all in the midst of a lovely Easter weekend :)

Just popping on for a little rant. Did I tell you we know baby's sex (girl)? Anyway, we are not telling people generally, but the other day I was with SIL (DH's brother's partner) and I may have said "her" wrt the baby. I was also talking about DD2 at the time - and talking about where she slept as a baby, and where this baby will sleep (in our room initially), and so said 'her' thinking of DD2, but I think SIL took it as meaning the baby.

Anyway, no issue, I didn;t mention it, was not upset that she may have guessed...but today it seems she has told all of DH's family that we are having a girl.

And I know it doesn't really matter - and that lots of people like everyone to know, and that in the end it makes no difference, but I feel a bit let down by SIL, that she would be so gossipy, when she knew we didn't want to tell people :(

Anyway, I'm a bit hormonal and teary, so am over reacting, I know . But DH just spoke to FIL and DH said something about the "baby boy or girl" and FIL was saying "girl, you mean girl! as if very pleased with himself for knowing what we didn;t really want him to know". FIL gets on my goat at the best of times and now I feel very cranky with him. SIL I usually get on well with, and now I feel very cranky with her :(

Anyway, I think I need some sleep. Will eact revenge upon DH's anoying family in my dreams Wink.

Astrophe · 23/04/2011 12:39

oh, meant to say, I know that some people think its daft to know the sex but not tell - and thats fair enough - but SIL did the same thing with their DD, so I'm surprised she hasn't been kind enough to keep this quiet for us.

Anyway...3 DDs! How cool is that! I'll admit to being shocked - thought we would have another DS to balance the numbers. DH wonders how we will pay for the weddings!

Borisismyhousespider · 24/04/2011 12:47

Well Astro, just think of the teenage years too, 3 dd's in the one house! Wink and I thought I was going to have it bad with 2 Wink
Sorry that your SIL didn't keep your confidence and even worse that the whole clan know, I'm guessing she was just very excited for you and thought it was for general consumption...Have a {{{Hug}}} from me eh!

Lots of chocolate being consumed by our horde here today and the Easter bunny was kind enough to leave mummy and daddy a creme egg each too Hmm

Astrophe · 24/04/2011 14:27

No, she def knows we wanted to keep it a secret - we'd discussed it and she told me that they had done the same thing with their DD.

Anyway, I feel less emotional about it today - if they know they know, and I of course realise its not actually a big deal...I just plead hormones as an excuse for feeling irrational. I think I'm mainly upset with SIL for not keeping confidence, rather than upset that people know the baby's sex. Will just have to bite my tongue when FIL is a pain in the arse about it - that will be the hard part!

Had a bit of a choc-fest here today too Boris (so did the kids!). Sugar is my enemy during pregnancy and I am paying for it now!
