The planning app is in, case officer has done an initial site visit and promptly asked to be given ANOTHER plan with teh location of teh football goals marked on... Oh, joy. The footy pitch moves a bit year by year , isn;t in our build area and wasn't there when the designer did his visit and won't be marked out when the build happens... ho hum. So I have marked a plan up. Wonder what supplementary info they will want next.

Uni, I feel for you, planning depts can be so ARRRRGH!

LL, I have courtesy car no 4, whilst they find me a new car....TBA as to the date of arrival, as I don't want to spend any more money and they don't have another similar car in stock at that price in diesel and I'm insisting on diesel with the mileage I do...

Oooh you can have a Brew now too, although I prefer Wine Grin

So what's new this week then? everyone had a good valentines?? I've just scoffed my chocs that dh got me, now I feel I need to go running Grin dh is at work of course, but we did get a night out Sat Smile

UniS · 14/02/2011 22:34

todays arrrrgggh is the water company. Turns out they have a sewer under teh playing field and are demanding a 3m exclusion zone from sewer. RIGHT, so between 15m from stream ( enviroment agency) and 3m for sewer and the need for a full size footie pitch... how much space is left for SK8 park- not enough. GGGGGRRRRRR>

I've asked a friend who knows about such things if its possible to dowse to find actual line of sewer. They think it is possible, so will be interesting to see where it is in real rather than on map.

Uni It does sound as though you are expected to do the impossible! I hope it gets resolved before it gets more complicated but I doubt it!

ll I hope that work slows down a bit. I cannot imagine 99 year old lady campaigning! I hope to live that long but doubt that I will be out to save the world...

Friz How goes the house? Are the girls more settled? Thank heavens you are getting a new car (once you find a suitable one). Your story with the first one is straight out of a movie. What a lemon!

Astro How is dd1 managing at school? I wrote a long (winded) reply to your post in homeschooling but then it got lost in cyber-space. By the time I was starting to re-write, everything had already been said more eloquently by other posters. My experience with dd2 was very similar and she muddled through. Happy to chat about it in private messages if it would be helpful.

Continuing the saga of never a dull moment in our household:

I went for an ultrasound at 13 +5 (following some bleeding) and there was no heartbeat.

I needed to be 'evacuated' to Bangkok as there is not a safe blood supply in Cambodia. Evacuation insurance flew dh and I to Bangkok.

I was taken to the hospital in an ambulance with sirens blaring and I was thinking that it was such a waste of resources until I started to hemorrhage a few hours later. I guess that I must have been in denial...

What was supposed to be a scheduled d&c at 9:30 am turned into an emergency one at 4:00 am...

I am happy to be back home and although I am eternally grateful to have had my mother here to take care of my children during our absence, I did not really appreciate her lecture that ended with the question: Who will be sterilized? Dh or I?

Thanks mum!

Astrophe · 16/02/2011 11:51

Oh Caddy, I'm so, so sorry to hear this news. That comment from your Mum...well, I can imagine my mum saying similar, if that helps any. I guess shes just worried about you, but Angry at her insensitivity and bad timing.

How are you feeling now? How are DH and kids coping? Glad to hear you were able to get timely medical care and are safe at home, but I really am very sorry for the loss of your little one, and will be praying for you. :(

UniS · 16/02/2011 18:47

Much sympathy caddy. look after yourself now and be gentle on yourself.

OP posts:
Borisismyhousespider · 16/02/2011 22:20

Oh Caddy Sad very sorry to hear that, agree with Astro's post about your mum, mine would have said the same. I hope she's still there looking after you and that you're all as ok as can be {{Hugs}}
Yes you're right the car story is straight out of the movies and I'm still waiting for them to sort it out ShockConfused I'm still in courtesy...

Uni, sewers eh Hmm I have a story about those too (this will make you laugh girls)....in Kitchen Monday am, dh and I hear a whooshing sound, 'what's that noise' we say looking at each other and searching the kitchen for the noise...get to back door, and a pile of raw sewage is being blown up a disused drain (ie nothing on the house drains into it, it's just there) into the yard at side of house....I go to front of house and see 'Dynorod' two doors down, so I run around, introduce myself to him and our new extended neighbours, who are looking mortified as I ask him to stop...long story short, waterboard are called, the problem affecting two doors down lies in our adjoining neighbours sewer where some lovely person has put a pile of scaffolding down???!!!! and thus sewage has been building up around it for X years Shock and barf....

UniS · 16/02/2011 23:30

eeekkk re sewer story. we had something similar happen in a house I rented as a student, section of sewer had collapsed. backing up into our garden, NICE. not.

HAd phone call from planning officer today who was quite nice about it and suggested asking a dowser to try and trace actual line of sewer to see if water board map is correct as water board maps are not 100 % acurate in their experience...

Must get off PC and go to bed, work tomorrow so up early.

laundrylover · 18/02/2011 13:45

Sad Caddy....I have been thinking about you recently and was so sorry to read this latest news. I agree with what the others said about your Mum but wanted to point out that I imagine she is doing it with you in her heart. My sister and I are trying to persuade my sis in Scotland not to get pregnany again as she wishes to do. This stems from our concern for her mental health but I'm sure she thinks we are just horrible Sad. Please look after yourself and give your body and mind time to recover properly.

Sewers...I actually like unblocking drains and sewers but not so much when it isn't my own family's poo involvedGrin!!! Am I odd??

I just stopped work to shovel some lunch down my gullet as I have 3 reports to do today so we can go away for the weekend and I can take half term off. We are going to Dudley (!) and staying ina hotel for 2 nights whilst visiting Cadbury World and some NI properties that way on..any recommendations for West Midlands fun???

Uni, your skate park may move quicker than ours still...the council have just announced that they are embracing the ConDems localiam bill and handing all parks over to Town Councils. This means the park will be run by a bunch of old duffers and we may have to now have to pay VAT which will really hit our budgetAngry.

Cadmum · 19/02/2011 11:32

Thanks all. I do know that I am very blessed to have the four that we have.

I appreciate the insight on my mother's comment. I think that it is partly because I felt that it isn't any of her business. Her choice of wording really threw me off. Please tell me that it is just a British vs. Canadian vocabulary issue because sterilizing just sounds like something one might do to an animal rather than something one might request that their daughter choose?

I am probably not making myself very clear. I feel offended because my mother does not show any kind of feeling or support for any of us so I was very taken aback by her comment (and choice of words). I think that her timing was off and she might have asked how I was feeling (if only physically) before she asked such a personal question. We have never been particularly close and these topics are generally avoided since she firmly believes that two children are "two too many" so we tend to agree to disagree...

Astrophe · 20/02/2011 10:57

caddy I agree, the use of the word 'sterilise' is very off. And her timing. And its especially hard if you aren't close in the first place, and know she is not keen on big families. No wonder it was hurtful!

She could certainly have waited a while, and then said something more like "I know how much you value having a large family, and how painful this experience has been for you, but I'm worried about your health and wonder if you might consider not hvaing any more?". Can you convince yourself that this is what she meant to say? Even if she didn't, it might help to imagine it to be true, for your own peace of mind.

I hope you are managing as well as you can, and getting some rest.

Borisismyhousespider · 21/02/2011 23:16

Astro, very well put, you managed to say to Caddy what I thinking after I read her post!
Thinking of you Caddy.

Just giggleing at the disney advert here, we vaguely mentioned saving to go to possibly and very vaguely Florida next year or the year after and both girls went NOOOO we want to go to the one in France Shock but if we go there,a) no typhoon lagoon and b) no cheap clothes shopping for me, argh!! (selfish moi?! Grin)

laundrylover · 22/02/2011 20:03

Astro, you put that very well indeed. I like your suggestion of thinking about what she might have said instead of what she did say! You never know Caddy she might be thinking she could've put it better too...hope so. My mum uses the word 'steralise' too...it's a bit old fashioned isn't it?

How are you doing anyway Caddy? Are you feeling supported by the rest of your family? Hope so.

I'm struggling with my parents too but over the house move - they are now thinking of spending £16,000 on a brand new car which I think is crazy when they could get a decent 2nd hand one for under 5 grand. Last year they were questionning whether they could live on their pension and now they've been suckered in by the Skoda salesmanAngry...

Borisismyhousespider · 25/02/2011 21:51

Ooooh damn that Skoda salesman...can you stop them in time??? they don't need a brand new car (although I do like the look of the Lexus Kylie is advertising on the TV - the hybrid one, but that's a total pipe dream!)

Talking of cars, I've had my new one for a whole week now and it's still working (bet the car place are doing a happy dance that I've kept away for a week!) have a 2nd hand c-max that works Smile finally!

laundrylover · 27/02/2011 20:26

Hey Boris were you impressed on our Ford driving day then? Grin

Mum and Dad ordered their brand new car yesterday! ShockGrin

Watching the People's Supermarket which is round the corner from my London client...pretty depressing watching. Hope Cameron and Clegg are watching how the Big Society really worksSad.

Day 2 with DP skiing...apart from really losing my rag with T and her constant tantrumming I'm not doing too badly! We went to Yorkshire Sculpture Park today and the girls were great.

T's birthday tomorrow...7Shock!!!!

Astrophe · 28/02/2011 09:44

ooh, bother that salesman LL! Thats a lot of money for pensioners (or indeed, anyone!). Glad you are hanging in there without DP :)

Boris, glad you have a working car again! Your potential Disney trip sounds fun.

Howdy Uni and Caddy :)

We have been dealing with car salesmen too this weekend gone - test driving 7 seaters. Drove the Honda Oddyssy, Toyota Tarago and Citroen Picasso and looked at the Kia Carnival, but the sales man wouldn;t get it out for us to drive (it was parked in) and said "no, you don't even know if you want a Carnival yet, and we don;t do test drives unless theres a comitment to buy" ?????? Shock. DH and I just laughed and said we certainly wouldn't commit to buying a car we hadn't driven, and we'd guarantee we wouldn't buy from him!

Toyota and Honda were good, Citroen not as smooth a drive and really too small for 4 kids...still looking.

DD doing ok at school still, tired though - she had a massive melt down tonight about homework so I just sent her to bed without doing it - I figure sleep is more important at this stage yes?

Oh and, HAPPY 7TH BIRTHDAY TIllY!!!! :o

UniS · 28/02/2011 21:22

Birthdays are just around teh corner now....
Boys birthday present arrived today, hes having a new bike from us.

Party is planned and happening on Saturday - joint with another child in his class, so whole class plus siblings and few extras invited. kids disco and games.

Not so good news, my gran died today. end of a long life, she went peacefully and loved.

Back to school tomorrow. Boys bag weighs a ton, PE kit, Ballet kit, snack, 4 books and lunch and a drink. Think I'll be carrying it to school. PE kit will then stay at school till Easter.

OP posts:
laundrylover · 02/03/2011 18:14

Aww Uni, it's not been good for you recently with Grans has it Sad.

PE kit - 2 mums yesterday were saying they washed kits every week...madness..mine are lucky to get home every half termGrin.

Well I dropped the kids off at school this morning and haven't seen them since...friends for tea and then Beavers. Off to pick them up now. Circuit training with my Dad at 7pm so I'll hardly see them at allShock...missing them a bit I have to confessSmile.

Astrophe · 03/03/2011 05:45

sorry to hear about gran Uni :(

what a stinky lot your kids are! actually I'm more shocked that the teachers can be bothered helping the kids get changed and faff with shoes and lose things every week - at DD's school they just wear their kit for the day, on days when they have sport or dance. DD loves it, she says its way more comfy in shorts and a polo shirt than in a dress (I agree!).

boys big birthday bash sounds chaotic Uni - hope it goes well! DS is having a super hero party on the 12th - 20 kids and about 15 parents at our place, I just hope it doesn't rain!

Borisismyhousespider · 03/03/2011 21:33

Sad sorry to hear about your gran Uni, glad she'd had a good long innings though.

Our PE kit goes in for the half term too Wink

Astro, out of that list, only the picasso is the same over here, am guessing the Toyota is the verso? (which I had on hols in France and liked)The Kia is known as the Sedona here (why?) my dad has one, and they're great, I love it! (borrowed it for a month before we got ourselves sorted with a 2nd car!) Hadn't seen the Honda in the UK, but apparently you can get it? Try and take a look at the Mercades vito if you can too, although it might be a bit pricier!

LL well I did have fun on the day, but I didn't do the C-Max then! my mum has one and I knew we could all fit comfortably in it, and it has good boot space, which is why I went for it! I'm fed up of citroens, which is the only other thing I could afford and after the mess up with the 1st car, I've ended up with a better model, for less cash Grin BONUS! I did look at the Zafira as well

dd2's birthday tomorrow! will be 5 when she wakes up Grin where did the time go!

UniS · 03/03/2011 21:39

The last 5 years have zipped by and at times crawled by. Seems like boy has been here for ever but its not even 2000 days yet.

[bicuit]
Brew

any one for a hobnob and a hot choc to dunk it in?

OP posts:
UniS · 03/03/2011 21:39
Biscuit Brew

lets try that again

OP posts:
laundrylover · 04/03/2011 16:40

Uni, I love your day fact!

I'll join you for a biscuit but I'll have to have a Brew of lemsip as I am full of the most snotty cold ever todaySad.

I think K is the last one to turn 5 on the 29th...still a babySmile. She has gone off a swimming party (thank goodness) and has opted for a tea party at home with a select gang of girls. Much easier (and cheaper!).

DP back tomorrow - hurrah!!

Borisismyhousespider · 07/03/2011 21:50

am having a Brew too as it goes! nice coffee Smile and a well earned rest after a hectic weekend! Parents round on actual birthday (Fri) Family trip to Frankie n Bennies sat night (for the birthday cake thing of course Grin) which dd2 loved Grin and then the manic party full of kids yesterday, all good though Smile only 2 bouts of tears from the party girl, both times due to lossing at party games Hmm one her team let her down, the other Auntie L accidently said she was out of the running to win......eeeep! on the whole she had a great time though and got some lovely presents from her friends (I think we have enough craft stuff to see us through to summer hols Grin)
Hope all of your parties and birthdays are as successful as ours was Smile

Borisismyhousespider · 07/03/2011 21:55

PS: Sorry LL, missed your lemsip, when I was writing my essay! hope your feeling a bit better now.
