Poor baby, arriving at the wrong farming time

Granny update is she rang mum this am all worried, as auntie didn't go home all night...mum pointed out she'd taken auntie home and that auntie hasn't lived with gran for 40 years or so not a good sign eh.....(but kinda funny!) good news is they managed to get gran to Dr's who has refered her for assessment, so fingers x'd help may be on the way!

UniS · 23/09/2009 20:22

Waves to alll. Dh is now in garage fettling with tandem, I have had my last ride as stoker, next stop captain to a 3 yr old stoker. Handle bars done already and boy has had a go at climbing up to saddle on his own. Big box of chain rings and bottom brackets and cranks arrived today.

OP posts:
Frizbe · 23/09/2009 22:27

{grin] at Boy becoming stoker Uni, bet you still end up doing more work than him though

Astro, I hear you've had a dust cloud experience (according to the news anyway) was it horrible/did you manage to stay indoors and avoid it?

nbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb - that's the cat

Gran admitted to hospital here, dementia, they're still investigating what's brought it on....but she's happy enough and being well looked after, so its not a bad thing.

UniS · 23/09/2009 22:50

glad your granny is happy in her own world, when ever that is.

Yep, recon I will be doing most of teh work on a bicycle made for 2, but I'm told that even 4 yr old are usefull when going up hill if you shout at them enough.

OP posts:
laundrylover · 24/09/2009 12:56

Waving at everyone...Astro all covered n red dust, Uni sweating up a hill with a little boy sat on the back with his legs stuck out and Friz with a cat drilling for oil behind the sofa.

I'm eating lunch at computer. Want to finish work and then squeeze in a run before pick up.

Friz, my nan's dementia downturns were always brought on by water infections- very common apparently. Hope they get your Gran back to normal or at least establish that dementia is here to stay so you can make plans to cope with it eh?

Boys are wiring the extension!! On Monday they broke the car windscreen in a Laurel and Hardy type incident with a drainpipe...was not amused as had to get it fixed on Tues in pouring rain in between taking 2 chickens into school for nature week!!

Had lovely weekend with Scottish contingent. Sis and I managed lunch and retail therapy on Mon and sis and BIL went out for a meal on Tues night. Good to have some time away from the babies and Coen took EBM from a botle no probs.

Was DP's birthday on Mon so we managed a very quick pizza and saw 500 Days of Summer which was jolly indie rom com film.

Supposed to be going to see Lip Service at theatre tonight but friend is ill so left with 2 tickets and no-one to go with ...maybe should get sitter and take DP...

Frizbe · 24/09/2009 20:24

LL hope you've managed to get a sitter, so you can both go? for lovely weekend with family and at none amusing drainpipe incident, can you laugh yet? the chickens made me as well, I was picturing you with one under each arm, shouting at men with drainpipes!
I may well be attempting 500 days of summer with the girls next week, prior to all shop fitting hell breaking loose, I have tentativly scheduled girls night for Wed, and am assuming I won't have store keys by then?

Waves at Uni et all, do you know Uni I can just see you screaming at ds to peddle, rather you than me

Bad news re gran today, they sedated her last night, apparently a bit too much,as she attempted to go toilet this am and fell over....is in a lot of pain, but she told dr's wasn't this am, so they've not xrayd, now she's in agony...mum n dad are there trying to get her seen now, as auntie's ranting at nurses to get her seen has failed so far.....fecking hospitals

Frizbe · 24/09/2009 22:10

news is gran has a fractured hip, not good when sustained on an nhs ward eh....

UniS · 24/09/2009 22:42

yep I shall be shouty mum on a bike for a bit longer. Plan is to use toe straps on him to keep his feet on pedals ( so they don;t hit him on calfs ( which hurts)).
I had to be shouty mum on tuesday...for last few weeks we have been cycling to toddlers in teh next village , me on my bike, boy on his. on road, about 3/4 mile, first bit sis quiet lane then we have to go through the village on old A30 , its wide, but does have busses and some trucks occasionally. Boy was doing fine untill he decided to turn across teh traffic into teh village hall BEFORE I said he could. Just as a bus was approaching ARRRRGH. thankfully he is drilled enough to stop when I shout stop. so no harm done. I hauled him onto pavement and bawled him out. He was in tears. (ooops, but also ( i think) good as he knew he was in BIG trouble). behaved himself on the way home. He is just a bit too confident sometimes.

UniS · 24/09/2009 22:44

eeek about your gran not being seen by Dr despite being in hospital already! My gran managed to spend 10 days at home with a broken shoulder, but that was cause she refused to go to hospital and wasn't telling people HOW much it hurt.

OP posts:
laundrylover · 24/09/2009 22:47

Oh Friz, that's terrible. How long will she be in hospital for?

Didn't go to theatre and am sad that all my friends are so crap as to not jump at the chance of a night out! Watched Alone in the Wild instead which I have really been enjoying (not right word as very emotional!).

Hope you get your girls night out...no chance once you open the new shop eh?

Didn't shout about car at all!! Had a cock and a hen in assembly and hen escaped from child helper so had cock under arm (so to speak) and hen on boy's head with me holding it's tail!! None of the teachers could help (what sort of example is that in Nature week??) so a 10 year old boy came to my rescue. What is the world coming too???.

Frizbe · 25/09/2009 22:43

at your chicken adventures LL
Sorry your mates couldn't make it out I watched alone in the wild too! shame he couldn't make it eh, if only they'd let him shoot the moose/caraboo, all would have been very different!

Uni, yikes scarey moment, but can I just say wow! that's amazing he cycles so far and so well I've not even attempted going anywhere with dd2 on her stabilers yet, bar the kids playing out on our street!

Gran's been moved to an acute trauma ward today and is on the list for an operation either tonight (maybe in now?) or tomorrow, waiting to hear??? not good though....

Astrophe · 26/09/2009 07:55

Hello all! No internet yet, am just popping in whilst at my parents house.

Unpacking is done (a few boxes went, still not unpacked, into the garage...I'm sure they will stay there now until we move again...) and we are settling in. Lots of driving back to kindy and other activities, so 20-50 mins each way in the car depending on traffic.

Have decided to Home ed Luie next year (from Feb), and am considering taking her out of kindy next term for the last 10 week term - partly due to driving, partly as we have decided on home ed, and partly because she and another child are bullying a 3rd child and they haven't been able to resolve it. Makes me feel thoroughly horrible, and I think maybe better to just pull the plug as I don't think she is enjoying it much any more anyway and is coming home cranky and moody.

Dust cloud was amazing! I can't believe it made your news though! It was at its worst over night, but in the morning when we woke up the light was all orange like when theres a bush fire - very eerie - and cars all covered in dust. Long queues at carwash places this week...our cars remain orangey brown!

Clem sleeping 4-5 hours a night and going well, still off the charts for weight and height - GP sugested feeding less, I say bollocks to that, unless she wants to pop around and rock her while she cries?

UniS · 26/09/2009 19:21

keep on feeding clemie ( your breast feeding IIRC?) She will find her size in time, just maybe not this month. If your formula feeding, just double check that you are making it up in correct ratio.

Butterball babies generally slim down as they get more active.

Good to hear your out of boxes mainly. so are we, except the ones I've taped together to make an under stair storage cube system. kinda Ikea inspired... cardboard box realised.

OP posts:
Frizbe · 27/09/2009 20:52

Astro dust cloud sounds interesting! Stuff what the Dr says, agree with Uni, she'll find her weight in time, all babies pan out in the end.

Things mad here, full story on feb thread, but store got done over last night and gran had her op today, so gah

Frizbe · 28/09/2009 19:36

Hi Guys, I'm more with things today, CSI Ripley have been round today and dusted for prints n things, so we've been able to get sorted! have backed up everything off the pc, just in case they come back and nick it...wouldn't want our accounts going missing! and have done all the rest of the messy clearing up....I think dh has about calmed down now....hopefully the builders can get to us before the end of the week to sort it out.

UniS · 28/09/2009 22:09

Oh bum, friz. not what you neede dthis week at all. fingers Xed for builders being speedy.

OP posts:
Cadmum · 29/09/2009 13:16

I couldn't read without posting...
Friz, I am very sorry. What a nightmare. I hope that everything is sorted ASAP!

How did things go for your gran. How AWFUL that she could fracture a hip in a hospital and have it go unnoticed. Shameful.

Frizbe · 29/09/2009 22:46

Good news! for Gran at least, the hip op went well and they've had her on her feet for 2 hrs today, zimmer frame ahoy they had to put her back in bed, to give the ward nurses a rest, as she was zipping about bothering everyone hurrah!

Thanks for your support re the burglery, we're getting it all sorted out over the next few weeks hopefully, kinda hoping the door area can get secured very soon, the builder will be around tomorrow to view it all apparently, so ?

laundrylover · 01/10/2009 14:36

Glad things are getting sorted Friz and at your Gran!

I have the lurgy...even typing is too much like hard work. Just arranged for friend to pick up girls and meet me the car park at school as haven't the energy to walk!

Frizbe · 01/10/2009 20:44

LL flu lurgy? {{{Hugs}}}

We've got the new store whoopppeeee, pick up keys tomorrow, on proviso anyway, as it won't all be properly done till monday, but lots of ranting at various parties has resulted in leases being presented to us to sign wooooot, now the fun begins.

laundrylover · 02/10/2009 13:52

Hurrah and yippee Friz !!!!

Fear it tis the flu here....off work again today and have cancelled interviews on Monday as a precaution. Need to sleep but house full of hammering and power tools!

Think may resort to daytime TV and a blanket....

Frizbe · 02/10/2009 20:54

Oh gawd you poor thing LL, have a virtual glass of wine, you'll need it after the daytime tv seriously though, {{{Hugs}}} flu not nice.

UniS · 02/10/2009 22:56

sympathy on the lurgy, go to bed woman. please.

Running a uni meet tomorrow, havn;t done one in ages, sure to have forgeton something important. oh well, sure we will cope.

OP posts:
Frizbe · 03/10/2009 19:18

Oooh uni, how did the Uni meet go then?
Fingers x'd your predictions come true eh

Astrophe · 04/10/2009 14:14

back online

So sorry to hear things are pear shaped Friz - glad things are sorting out though. Hope Uni meet went well Uni, and LL, hope you recover quickly!

Have pulled Luie out of kindy, so term 4 stretches empty before us! Planning to start new local swim school for DD, sports class for DS and dance and music class for both to keep us busy and hopefully meet some local people. Liking the area, but still feeling unsettled as we don't know if we will be here beyond Feb due to the short lease. Caddy - hgow do you do this year in year out?

Yes, am BF Clemmie and so am continueing feeding whenever she asks, and wont bother tto weigh for a while I think. She seems very heaslthy and happy - lots of smiles - what more could I ask!?

Struggling a bit this week - stress with DD who is not coping with change well and is behaving badly, unsettledness here, DH making noises about not wanting to be in his job forever (although quite happy now, its not his preffered career)...thinking of trying to buy a house, but not sure where/when/if we can afford Sydney...argh.

I'm hoping the slightly panicked treading water feeling is just circumstance and not PND rearing itys ugly head again.
