Boris - have you moved???

Chaos here! How are you all fairing?? Boris I think you have more snow than us? Uni - any down south?

Today I had said I'd pick up my friend's 3 year old at 3pm but the playgroup shut at 11.30am instead so bang went most of my working day. Then I had D in a back pack and K holding my hand and slipped on a manhole cover in the playground so we all fell in the snow! School has decided to shut tomorrow so I have to get both girls to the fracture clinic for 9am....grrrrr.

Yesterday my friend set off for the labour ward at 8.45am straight into snow and rush hour with a 4 yr old and a dog in the car to be dropped at the in laws....she had to arrange to meet an ambulance at our friend's pub where she thought she was going to deliver on the floor...the ambulance got there and after an examination said as the baby wasn't crowning could she suck on some gas and air and try not to push as it was too cold to have a baby in a van!! She held on til hospital and baby Lorimer (from Armadillo by William Boyd, literary fans) was born at 10.20am. Not an arrival she'll forget in a hurry eh?

I am trying not to think about how much income I have lost this week and how much of a backlog is now amassing in my inbox....instead I shall treasure this quality time with my darling children as they slowly fill the house with dolls and beds in their creation of a nursery for abandoned babies and a 'puzzle pram'!!

Borisismyhousespider · 02/12/2010 14:54

Quick update from work (I managed to get here just!) no interwebs at home yet.....moved on monday, best day for it! least snow, mega horrible since, work closed yest, and is grim today!!! heading off soon and leaving my poor staff too it!! (they live nearer and can get home easier) house full o boxes, too much stuff!! (Still!!) skip required, sorry no time to read thread, but hope you all ok? more on the grim move next week (let's just say we've been clearing the house all week in the car too, as the big move lorry was broken and they sent their smaller one, so the garage and shed and a few other bits didn't fit into it, as dh is a horder.....)

UniS · 02/12/2010 20:09

eeeekkkkkk . boris and LL you both have horror storys. Our snow has been much nicer and gentler. Boy was given a sticker for "getting to preschool" this morning as the city preschool assumed we would be snowed in. We took 2 trys to get out the village, but once on main road it was fine.
I may tow boy to village preschool by sledge tomorrow. just for fun.

OP posts:
Astrophe · 03/12/2010 05:11

wow, love your snow stories, even if chaotic! LL, who has the fracture?!

We have sun and wind today, but 3 days solid rain pior to that, and rain predicted again from tomorrow too - lovely for filling the dams and holding buch fires at bay, but a bit grim when at home with 3 kids and morning sickness.

laundrylover · 03/12/2010 13:35

Never mind the fracture Astro - morning sickness?????

It was T who had a suspected fracture on her arm but all clear on inspection by the consultant so the temp cast is off Smile...she is very pleased about this.

Kids back in school today though trip to Delemere forest for K is cancelled, and I'm trying to catch up on work emails...not very successfully it has to be said.

Boris - your week sounds super hectic....tell us more when you're back online....

Uni, sledge sounds good...DP met us at school on Weds and pulled the girls back gome. It's too much like hard work for me though...all up hill.

UniS · 03/12/2010 22:54

sledge to preschool was fun. boy enjoyed it very much. he was towed onteh flat bits on teh way home and then did little mini sledging in teh garden ( which is not quite flat, but nearly)
Morning sickness...... !!!!!

OP posts:
Astrophe · 04/12/2010 07:44

sledging to and from school sounds wonderful! Weare just boring scootering, or driving when then rain is set in. Our forecast for very day in december is 'medium to high chance of rain'. At least it shouldn't be too hot.

A friend in Derby sent me some snow pics - gorgeous! It never snowed like that when we were there!

Yes, morning sicknes! I'm about 6 or 7 weeks so due end July if all goes well. Hows that for timing!? Am so thankful that our 12 month lease means we know where this one will be born!

Feeling pretty foul though and hoping it will be slightly less awful as it was with DS, rather than dreadfully awful as with the DDs.

How are you boris, with your chaotic move?

laundrylover · 07/12/2010 09:17

Congratulations AstroGrin and a new Bear as I don't know what that emoticon is for!!!

Still lots of snow on the ground here although it did thaw at weekend so lots of frozen sludge too. Ugh. Not as cold today though I'd say but DP just back from school walk is disagreeing!!

Uni - we haven't done any sledging as the girls are such wimps. They have enjoyed it in the past...I think I need to pick up some snowsuits and waterproof mittens....obviously we never had these things as a kid and spent hours out in the snow but hey ho!

Boris - how's business in the run up to Xmas...we are getting a Wii Hmm because DP is desperate for one.

Cadmum · 07/12/2010 13:17

Woo Hoo Astro! That was pretty quick if I remember correctly that you were going to try in November.

Get thee to the ante-natal threads and share the misery...

I am almost envious about the snow. Definitely NOT envious about your move, friz. Cross town moves are notoriously the worst.

All well here. Same old, same old...

laundrylover · 07/12/2010 23:16

It's never same old, same old with you Caddy, you're our international jet setting glamour puss Grin!

Beer and curry in front of the big screen for me tonight watching some catch up on iplayer....same old, same old indeed.

Big news - DP and I have negotiated a deal in lieu of rent with our tenants as their housing benefits have been cut...I get 2 hours cleaning every fortnight!! This is a huge increase on the sweeping, hoovering and mopping that takes place currentlyShock.

What is this face for Bear?????

UniS · 08/12/2010 17:08

It a pom bear. or its just a cute bear, what ever you like I guess.

Boy has griend round after school again. I hear rampaging 4 yr olds above me. gotta go break it up any minute and return guest to his home.

They live 3 mins away and as he has numerous siblings I feel I ought to return him in time for tea.

OP posts:
Cadmum · 09/12/2010 04:41

LL How right you are about things never being same old thing around here...
I am looking at another BFP. Trying to remain positive but feeling overwhelmed. How am I going to manage?!? We have friends and family staying with us from next week until mid-February. Bleurgh! Bear

Astrophe · 09/12/2010 05:23

oh far out Caddy, did I read that right? How many weeks are you then??? You are detrermined that I should never catch you up huh Wink!? I know you don't have great odds and must be a bit scared, but none the less, CONGRATULATIONS on the precious life! How do DH and DC feel? What are the arrangements for delivering where you are, or will you go elsewhere?

I've been on the phone and over the toilet all day today, gagging - awful, and trying to sort out the way forward to C section as recommened by my GP, but not happily given on the public system here. will bite the buttet and go private if needs be -no more delivering 9.9lb babies for me thanks.

Still not 'properly' vomiting but feeling seriously grim. Thank heavens my mum has taken DC to swimming this arvo, and next week is the last week of school/kindy and then summer holidays. Kids will be bored to tears while I lie of sofa and eat with the air con going. gah. whose idea was this!? Wink

Astrophe · 09/12/2010 05:25

ps caddy, the way you will cope is to get all the visiting friends to look after you. you really must, you wont manage otherwise. Are you on summer hols too?

Cadmum · 09/12/2010 05:52

Astro: Sorry that you are feeling awful. I hope you manage to get the birth you would like. I will likely have no choice as last C-Section involved a vertical incision so the risks are higher. (Personally, the idea terrifies me but I will burn one bridge at a time.)

I am 5 +2. No real symptoms yet but that is fairly typical as they tend to hit like a ton of bricks around week 7.

Dh and I were both in shock and he is understandably concerned about the health implications. I haven't summoned the courage to tell the dcs. I will try to book a viability scan ASAP and then tell them if there is a strong heartbeat.

I just pray that if I am destined to miscarry that it happens in the first twelve weeks...or at a bear minimum does not require life-threatening emergency surgery. I should seriously have my head examined.

Cadmum · 09/12/2010 05:55

Sorry. I forgot to answer about the delivery options. Basically, I am coming to stay with you. Thank goodness your lease is for one year. Grin

Our medical insurance covers the costs of delivery in Bangkok or back home. The UN really discourages attempting to deliver here. Antenatal care is done here with trips to Bangkok for important scans... Have I ever mentioned that I hate flying?

laundrylover · 15/12/2010 12:42

Flipping eck Caddy - didn't see that one coming!!! Congratulations Grin...am crossing my fingers for that little Cambodian bean!!!

Hope both you mums to be are not too sicky and tired over Christmas.

Everything seems rather bonkers here...work a bit crazy as the Big Lottery keep sending endless queries about a bid I have in with ridiculously short deadlines for answersAngry. Just spent 2 days in Birmingham for training which was good fun (always nice to meet other people doing the same job as me) and a night away from the mayhem is always a pleasure eh?

Our house looks like a bomb site and my cleaner starts on Friday so I am planning whole family expedition to clear the bloody floors so he can actually clean them! No cards written (or even made!), no presents wrapped and a full invasion of DPs family to sort out for Sunday. Just to put the pressure on, his mum is going for an operation next week and so will be in hospital for Xmas...she said 'Sunday will have to be my Xmas'...erk!!!!!

Confused...need a Baileys!

Cadmum · 15/12/2010 22:13

ll I didn't see it coming either... Blush You'd think that I might know how this works by now...

I guess that I couldn't let astro get too far ahead of me. Now to figure out how I am going to manage for the next six weeks. Company from Canada descends this morning and I haven't even made up their beds, the dishes from last night's tea are still on the table and the fridge is empty. We have a hectic two weeks of touring in Cambodia and Vietnam and then my parents arrive mid-January.

Is is really Christmas in 9 days? We have done nothing beyond decorate a small tree. There are barely any gifts and none of them are wrapped. This is going to be a bad one!

ll Good luck for Sunday. I hope it all starts coming together for you on Friday. The reaction to my command of: "CLEAN THIS PLACE UP, NOW!" issued yesterday, was surprisingly well received. We have found the floor but the housekeeper doesn't arrive until 10:00 to clean it and the guests' flight lands at 10:35. All I can do is pray that they need to go to bed for a few hours.

I will try to check in intermittently over the next few nauseating weeks.

Happy Christmas Everyone!

Astrophe · 15/12/2010 23:53

Caddy I've just started a new anti sickness drug - its available over the counter and is category A, = as safe a paracetamol! I am flabbergasted I have never heard of it before in 3 pregnancies. I rang mothersafe (from Royal Hospital for Women - they run a phone line for queries about meds in pregnancy and whilst BFing) and she was very confidence inspiring. Have been on it since last night and am feeling about 50% better - SO WORTH IT!!!

www.sesiahs.health.nsw.gov.au/mothersafe/documents/New/NVPMarch2009Final2010.pdf

Thats the fact sheet.

Reckon you can get it there? Or would you or I get hauled in jail if I sent you some?

Best wishes for your busy time ahead! I'm sure Christmas will be special in its own way. We don't even have a tree yet!

LL, good luck with your busy times too. I can relate to the mess and chaos. The other day DH asked (in all seriousness) if we'd be broken in to.

UniS · 23/12/2010 15:53

Happy Christmas Ladies and 4 yr olds . I trust yours are as excited as mine. Ho Ho HO.

davidtennantsmistress · 23/12/2010 19:21

caddy caddy - we're PG again together!! WOW!!!

i've just got a BFP, as of 2 days ago. YAY!

sorry, (munz/belle)

how is everyone anyhow? are all our march babies liking school? I really must get back into the swing of MN again.

Borisismyhousespider · 24/12/2010 11:03

Bloomin 'eck! I'm off line for 3 weeks and 3 of you are pregnant (good job it wasn't 4 weeks eh! would hate LL or Uni to be scared!) BIG CONGRATS to all 3 of you!

Caddy my friend gave birth in Bangkok and they take your baby away for the 1st 3 days and only bring it back for feeds, to give you a rest!! they also do lots of lovely post birth exercise classes with you to flatten your tummy out Shock Grin although with a c-section they may skip that bit eh?

Well I'm online at work, as last night tried to log on at home and I have limited connectivity (virgin....) didn't have time to mess and sadly had given my orange hub to my parents (I am paying for their internet acccess Hmm) on the other hand it gives me access when I'm at theirs!

Just a quick update from here, still got stuff to wrap tonight Confused but did manage most friends stuff yest and will be dropping it around to everyone I can tonight when I finish work at 4pm....
House a bomb site! boiler broke down....plumber has sorted hot water, but random sensor is causing flow ishoos to radiators......it's a new boiler too, condensor n everything! damn.....new car broke down too....had it for 5 days.....three days later I've extracted a courtesy car from the dealership, so that's a minor win.... I'm hoping that's our crap luck done for 2010. Thankfully off to parents for Xmas day!

Wishing you all a very merry Xmas and who knows if I can sort it out, I may get back on here tonight or tomorrow?! two days off in a row coming up!! woot!

UniS · 24/12/2010 21:58

Trust me boris, I would be VERY worried if it happened to me.

Boy starts school in LESS than 2 weeks!!!!. eeeeeeeek.

OP posts:
Borisismyhousespider · 24/12/2010 22:21

Ello Uni, I managed to get the home web working! I'd be very worried too Grin

Are you looking forward to him starting? is he straight into full days?
I'm worrying as both of mine are starting at a new school and I've not had time to get uniforms or anything Confused as we only found out they'd been accepted on the Wed and school booted out on the Fri! sure it will all sort out when they get there!

Cadmum · 25/12/2010 04:42

Happy Christmas from Cambodia!

Davidtenantsmistress: I just saw you and welcomed you on the antenatal thread. Congratulations!

Astro: Please, please send info about this new drug. I am really struggling to stay afloat. The link didn't work.

Just back from Vietnam yesterday and we missed our bus so it was an adventure to get home... Grrrrr!

Boris: Keep yer birth horror stories to yourself, would ya?!? I have heard that Bangkok is not likely to be the best choice for me! I'll be lucky to make it far enough to look into delivery options, remember?
