Boris, I missed the burial comment sorry. Thought cat was just missing Sad. I haven't been on FB for ages either.

Tooth fairy came but left 2 50 pences - must've run out of pound coins!

Laptop buying on hold til next weekend - trouble is we need a laptop to browse online deals at night!!

The out-laws are coming for tea any minute but no sign of DP appearing home from work.

Here they are...

Borisismyhousespider · 25/10/2010 22:49

Wow Uni Grin you did great! do we get a virtual slice of cake then? any pics of Spot?
I really want to read that book now (put's it on dd2's xmas list!)

LL, 2 x 50p's is ok eh? I did think of you when I walked by the laptops in the supermarket the other day Wink

Huh so much for that viewing then girls, got someone who I vaguely know from around town and school gates, I doubt she'll take it and to be honest I don't think I'd want to inflict her on the neighbours Hmm On the other hand she might just offer a good price, who knows Hmm

UniS · 25/10/2010 22:54

Unis offers round a plate of virtual cake chunks, unlike RL cake this one is calorie free yet just like RL it tastes very yummy and chocolatey.

Borisismyhousespider · 25/10/2010 22:58

My kinda of cake Grin

laundrylover · 28/10/2010 09:33

Oh no I missed cake! I'm impressed with the lateness of the show Uni, ours are all in summer. Nice to spread them out a bit.

Boris, that woman might surprise you and offer the asking price!

We are off to a hotel tonight in Kirkby Lonsdale - dohope T can keep it together as she is a girl on the edge this week!

Astrophe · 28/10/2010 11:37

nice work on the show prizes Uni (sigh - idyllic), and fingers crossed for you Boris on the house, and for you LL for DD1. Whats up with her?

Now staying at my folks, and rental houses in the area seem to be going up before our eyes. We SO should have taken a less-than-perfect one 6 weeks ago :( ...so now are are thinking, do we move out of area, and if so, what do we do with school and kindy? We would be allowed to stay (school zones not generally such an issue here), but maybe commute needlessly, because DD doesn't actually start school until feb (but is currently doing orientations there, and is going every friday until Christmas for half days, and DS is at kindy next door...)

One new place to see this weekend :(

Feeling v miserable. Also trying to get out and about (as staying at my folks house has its ...er...difficulties), but DD2 has fever and snot, so need to stay in for a bit, with ratty DC, a snotty cross toddler, and non child friednly house...argh Angry.

(psst, Boris, never thanked you for your thoughts on DH work. was very kind of you to think of us. DH says he'd be too old though, as they would only want young'uns Hmm...BUT, he is thinking of reapplying to RR!...not sure how I feel about that!?)

Just to keep things interesting got a flat on the way home from swimming tonight, with 3 kids in car and in peak hour traffic, but luckily DH was in his own car coming home, not far away, and came and helped me.

Need an early night.

Borisismyhousespider · 28/10/2010 20:29

Oh Astro so sorry to hear that you're still struggling to find a good house at a good price Sad Sending you lots of good house renting vibes and whilst I'm at it, getting rid of snot for the toddler too, never fun.
How far away would you have to move to get a decent rental price?

LL, how's dd1 then? is the whole week off just too much? I've had a run in with dd1 tonight which involved me calmly cancelling all of her parties this weekend (one per day including her own) and do you know what, she's 'not bovvered' Confused (and she said that whilst calm too?!! argh my psychological warfare is not working!) what do I do with her Hmm she totally called my bluff...it's too late for me to cancel her own party on Sunday.....I think I'm going to run it without her as a guest, unless she does some severe grovelling/earning it back tomorrow.

They've put an offer in elsewhere...eh well, our neighbours wouldn't have liked them anyway!

UniS · 30/10/2010 22:46

LOL at not bovered about own party, Oh dear, shes gonna be hard work. sympathy

OP posts:
Astrophe · 31/10/2010 11:50

How'd the weekend go Boris? I do hope DD1 settled down and you all enjoyed it. There is something very special about first born daughters isn't there?

Borisismyhousespider · 01/11/2010 11:36

Well you'll be pleased to know it went ok in the end girls Smile She was mortified by the morning and has been angelic ever since, phew Grin Never seen her so helpful to anyone (esp little sister) so she got the parties back, whew.....I fear we may have more trouble in the future though Hmm

Any luck with viewings this weekend Astro?

We've dropped our price with the hope of tempting someone in? doubt we'll be gone before end of March at this rate though, which will play havoc with school applications for us Sad the dd's may not end up with a place at school next year if things don't happen soon........(I'll have to apply for her to remain here and commute with her an hour each way, as county we're moving too have still got over 500 unplaced pupils who moved there last school year!!! ARGH/is this a centralization of paperwork tits up? now that you can't go direct to the schools)

laundrylover · 01/11/2010 13:43

Oh dear what doom and gloom on the threadSad.

It would be best to just send out hugs all round!!

Astro, I really hope you can get somewhere soon. I really feel for you and don't know what to saySad. It WILL work out in the end I'm sure but life is tough at the mo eh? Stay strong and DON'T get pregnant just now!!

Uni, you don't know what you're missing without a 6/7 year old girl to keep you companyHmm. T has been very good for the last bit of the holiday actually and we had a Halloween party for all the neighbours last night which she lovedGrin.

Boris, your posts about the parties made me laugh - they are such madams eh?? Glad it worked out in the end though.

DP and I went to the cinema Shock on Sat night and saw Made in Dagenham which we really enjoyed - makes you proud to be a woman!

Just catching up with a billion emails that I merrily flagged on my phone last weekConfused....have a meeting at 5.30pm so might sneak a bath in to warm me up this afternoon. Can't go an meet a client with my greasy mop as it looks right now!

We've eventually ordered a laptop so should be back in evening catch up mode tomorrow - hurrah!!!

Astrophe · 02/11/2010 02:26

agree Uni, you need to perhaps borrow a DD for a bit? I could post mine?

Really glad the parties worked out well Boris :)

LL, shall look out for that film, I've never heard of it, don't think its here yet.

Have applied for 4 houses now, one has no fence and on fairlt busy road, but they said that if a family gets it, they will build a fence. And so today they rang and said that we got it...But the owner has decided the fence is too expensive, and so wont put one up. Thanks a blood lot. And so the one house we have been offered, we can't take. Angry

Still waiting to hear back from the other 3. One we'd really like (although it will be a stretch of budget), and other 2 would be ok, not lovely though, but cheaper. Thanks for your sympathy LL. We are going ok, but its harder every day to be here, so desperate to be in our own house, and to stay in it for AGES! Right now my DM is whinging about all the assignments she has to mark (shes a uni lecturer) and how I should mark dome for her, as I "have time", and how stressful it is for her to be deciding which removalist to use when they go to their new appartment, and how she is so stressed about their house-cooling party that she lies awake all night Hmm Angry. Yes, lifes tough when you've just sold your house for 2.2 million. Am keeping my mouth firmly shut.

In happier news, we are enjoying all the lovely things this harbourside part of the city has to offer - lots of fish and chips by the beach and harbour, and we even saw some whales last week on their way down to Antarctica :)

Borisismyhousespider · 02/11/2010 21:25

Astro harbourside sounds lovely Smile sorry your mum is driving you slightly batty though Hmm I'm keeping my fingers x'd for you that your luck is changing and that a house will be coming your way very soon.
I was imagining a flat pack version of your dd being posted Grin dunno why?!

We had viewers tonight Grin and they loved it, want a 2nd viewing when it's light too! bad news is, they only went on the market today themselves, so there won't be anything happening soon (my dd1 knows their dd1 too, lol small towns for you!) I've got couple viewing on Friday morning too and they've accepted an offer today, fingers x'd they come in 3's eh?!

LL are you online yet?

Uni, how's trick?

Caddy how's things?

Borisismyhousespider · 03/11/2010 17:42

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/property/1075684-Removal-Companies-House-Moving
thread here for help please girls! I reckon you lot are all top notch at this and should be able to help me out no end Grin I've started this as we had viewing last night, who want to buy, and have gone on market today (theirs is a 1st time buyer house on a hot property street) at a reduced price! plus I have two people viewing one tomorrow and one fri, both in positions to move now!! (partic fridays as she's holding up a chain!) 3 at once by the looks of things, so fingers very x'd we could be off soon 'tentative' Grin

Astro hope you're having similar luck.

laundrylover · 03/11/2010 22:15

Look at me - back on the sofa with my giant new laptop on knee!!!Grin....Probably not very big really but bigger than the old one and so SHINY!!!

Boris, I've replied on your removal thread with absolutely no useful advice at all Smile. All it's made me do is panic at the thought of ever having to pack up our stuff again! Very exciting that you have people interested all of a sudden...fingers crossed here.

Astro....deep breaths when you're around your mum...keep reminding yourself you won't be there for long. Even a house that isn't ideal will be better than camping at your parent's but would that mean moving again soon? Perish the thought.

Uni - I think you should have all our girls for a summer camp - they'd come back riding a unicycle and baking lovely cakes. What's your rate for a full week for the two of 'em Wink?

OK, now I have a laptop I really must do some invoicing which has piled up lots....DP out at the pub, Apprentice on i-player tomorrow so no excuses...

Borisismyhousespider · 03/11/2010 22:28

I'm picturing LL sat with a 32" screen laptop now Grin and I need to add our two girls to that holiday to Unis Wink

Astrophe · 04/11/2010 09:52

ooh, oooh, yes, DD1 is def enroling for Uni's summer camp. I'm more than happy to have your DS in return Uni, more than happy :o

So... we GOT A HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First they said yes, then they said no, someone else made a higher offer (can I remind you that this is for a rental house Hmm Angry), then we offered a bit more but not as much as the others, but owner said he'd prefer us as the other applicants were not a family (students I suppose), so we got it, but for quite a lot more than we wanted to pay. So I am hugely relieved, but also a bit anxious as to how we will afford it. I'm sure we'll manage somehow though :)

was going to link for you, but they've taken it down already. The kitchen is divine and HUGE and there is heaps of storage and 4 bedrooms - its bigger than we need really. There is no bath - thats the biggest down side - but we can walk to school and kindy and shops in 15 mins, and is very close to our old place. DH has paid the deposit now, so think we can officially breathe a sigh of relief and not be at risk of anyone else stealing it out from under us again?

Boris - any news?

Borisismyhousespider · 04/11/2010 20:47

YAYYYYYYYYYYYY Grin that's great news Astro Smile so happy for you! hurrah, your luck has changed Smile When do you get to move?

Showed another couple around here tonight, think they liked it, they came armed with a notebook and asked rather a lot of questions about running costs etc (I'm sure he works in the business as either an estate agent or for one of the building companies) wait and see if they come back for a 2nd viewing? have another viewer in the morning!! fingers x'd we've sold by next week eh!

UniS · 04/11/2010 22:42

I only offer summer camp at exorbitant rates, all children must come equipped with full waterproof and wellies.

They will return home muddy.

:-)

Cadmum · 05/11/2010 14:33

The Cadclan is back in Cambodia and LOVING the mild weather. Mid 20s all week which has been lovely since it was still 36C at 11pm the night we flew back.

Home-leave was no more disastrous than I was anticipating and I did manage to sneak in a girls' weekend with a friend. Well, actually I managed to fit into her regular weekend without my family in tow. Her youngest is 9 and she has a new boyfriend so it felt like a whole new world. We had dinner out on our own and it felt odd to have a sustained conversation with one adult without having to start over several times following endless interruptions.

Good to see that you are all still chatty.

Great news about the house astro. I'll bet you feel much better knowing that there is a plan in place.

ll How is the shiny new laptop? We have moved into the 21st century: My in laws bought us an ipad! They initially suggested that it was for Christmas but we have already taken it out of the box and installed apps...

Uni any virtual cake chunks left for me? What's up with the summer camp plan? Will you accept foreign students at a premium. I will gladly have them back filthy. The older 3 could even be junior counselors.

Boris Good luck with the house! I hope it goes quickly. Did I even mention how tidy it was in the photos. Naturally, I am disgusted and cannot accept your excuses about strategic photography over several days...

Borisismyhousespider · 05/11/2010 21:33

SO that's a deal then, Summer camp at Unis Wink you can send boy up here and I'll teach him Pokemon or something!

Caddy 'wants' at your IPAD Envy belive me I am so OVER keeping the house clean, alas until we get an actual offer I fear I have to......agent said to me this afternoon, Mrs X (the one stuck in a chain) so loves your house and dearly wants it, I said, NO GOOD! she's not sold hers and drummed it into them I am not in a chain situation, once again Hmm Still waiting for feedback or 2nd viewings from last night or this am??

Borisismyhousespider · 08/11/2010 22:10

and still waiting Hmm I will be visiting agents tomorrow morning in person, as they are supposed to be reporting to me daily, even if nothing to report Angry I think I will be swapping agents very soon.

UniS · 09/11/2010 21:59

You any good at airfix models boris?? boy would like to build a tank. but DH got bored and gave up after instructions 1-5.

OP posts:
Borisismyhousespider · 10/11/2010 20:21

Definately not Uni, last one of those I tried, I upset my dad with! apparently I stuck the wrong bit to the wrong bit, aged about 7 and all hell broke loose Hmm

So how is everyone? I'm still twiddling my thumbs, have had one very cheeky offer, which we refused and they've not come back Hmm Am also looking at buy to let mortgages, as letting this gaff out for a bit maybe the way to go (at this rate anyway!) have more viewers on Fri, see what happens.

UniS · 10/11/2010 20:37

fingers Xed for you boris.
