bebe - hope you've bought her a helmet for Christmas!
disney - look forward to you lovely xmas all together x

Hello

Disney- sorry to hear you went through all that only for it to get cancelled. At least you know they are ensuring Sam is in the best of health to start with.

Bebe- Phoebe will grow up to be a stun woman

Been busy doing lots of Art and Craft the past few days. Handmade cards and xmas decorations for the family from Abigail.

I think we may have some more teeth coming (still only have 2!) Abigails sleep has been all over the place lately. Very early mornings,Very short naps and random waking crying Poor thing, Seems fine in herself though. Im knackered too with so little sleep!

Disney, sorry to hear that Samuel's operation has been postponed. I hope family life can get back to normal for a few weeks until you have to go through it all again.

Can't remember who asked about bfeeding, we are still going here. I was intending to stop in January when Bryony will be 18 months old but it's not much hassle so we may keep going (my mother has laid off the negative comments for the moment so it's all nice and relaxed again).

Pigley, hope you get more sleep soon. We've been having a bad few days at the moment with Bryony having a heavy cold. She woke lots yesterday evening and I ended up taking her into bed with me at midnight (I was falling asleep on my feet in her bedroom) - it was quite nice, like when she was a newborn. Woke up with a dead arm at 3.30am though, so put her back in her cot.

Glad to hear that everyone's scans have been fine, hope the morning sickness is passing now. Any other pg ladies want to out themselves now? No more for me, I'm very relieved that the feeling of the family being complete now is still there and I am not at all broody.

Feeling very of all you with Christmas sorted already. I have few ideas and am starting to panic. Can think of lots of things I'd like myself though!

disneystar1 · 15/11/2009 09:10

hi all, well im pretty much sorted for christmas now, im busy knitting some lovely hats and scarves right now, ive done so much feels like im constantly knitting,
done chunky jackets and all sorts now, and also fair isle jumper for samuel with matching hat etc.....its really lovely, (even tho i say so myself )

sold our car on ebay, was gutted in a way as its about £2000 of what they are selling for in general but enough money to keep the roof literally over our heads for 3 more mths, hardly any work here for dh and i pleaded with him yesterday to consider signing on just temp.....we are going under here, but he wont his pride apparantly ,you would of thought i asked him to chop his arm of, ive applied for a few,i understand though to ask him to do this would be utter degrading to him, hes of the old school guys you know bread winner man rules roost... no lol but really he has always provided fantastic, hes embarrassed and ashamed hes ot doing this now.....

luckily we had this disneyparis hol sorted ages ago and paid for, so no worries there

things are terrible here though, no lie ok i rang 50 + jobs last week no luck, hes a class 1 driver and has mass exp....were going to try other options soon. were good for 3 mths
and i did that hamper with park this year and its being delivered next week....

disneystar1 · 16/11/2009 07:20

hi all, well massive turn around in 24 hours here,

i can finally look forward to taking the boys to disney...............YAYYYY

off to get samuels new passport today we have to apply different as i dont have a uk passport....also renewing all the other 3 typical they ran out just before you go anywhere isnt it....

and i can go food shopping now, and my 2 boys need shoes so badly, charlies trousers were halfway up his leg poor lad, he looked like an evacuee from the wartime, he so skinny and tall,

hope all you ladies are ok and well, especially, you pg ladies....

pigleychez · 16/11/2009 10:39

Disney- Great that things seem much brighter today and going in the right direction.

Been hibernating here lately as its been sooooo grim outside!

We did venture out swimming on saturday with DH. DH hasnt seen Abigails progress since she has started her lessons. Well he was amazed! We also had lot of comments from other parents in the pool. Abigail was happily jumping off the side of the pool, going under and then swimming towards me. Also the other way.. to the side and then holding on to the side. [proud mummy emotion]
Have another lesson this afternoon.

Well DH is still job hunting here. Sadly not alot about at the mo due to the recession so resigning himself to working in London. Hes due a HR meeting soon and hoping to wangle some kind of flexible hours so that he can be home earlier.

OP posts:
Poledra · 16/11/2009 11:12

Morning all

Disney, get your DH to sign on if at all possible - he's spent all these years paying into the system, now the system is there to help tide you over till he finds something else. I do understand about the pride and providing for his family, but he has done that; paying into the welfare system is what has made sure that it is there when he needs it! I know I'm ranting a bit here, but it makes me sooo mad that there are people who rip off the system terribly, then good, honest folk who need it won't use it when they need to!

Pigley, I can't remember what your DH does, but there is a possibility that he could work from home 1 or 2 days a week, and go into London the other days? It can make a huge difference if you don't have to commute on, say, Mondays and Fridays.

Had a bit of a moment yesterday - went into the playroom, and Orlaith was sitting at the table with DDs 1 and 2, all doing colouring. OK, O was scribbling really, but she's growing up so fast. She's desperate to do the things the others do (which has resulted in a couple of falls off our high bed usually when DH is supposed to be keeping an eye on her) and I want her to stay my baby . She's throwing quite a few tantrums at the mo, but I think it's frustration, as she knows what she wants to say but hasn't got the words to say it.

DH's back is getting better, though he's still being careful thank god, as I don't want him to put too much strain on it at the moment. His work is causing him huge grief, and I have actually told him to get his CV out to agencies and, if necessary, we'll manage on my salary till he finds something else. He is majorly stressed (which explains a lot of our problems at the moment, I guess) and I feel he's missing out on time with the girls as he's working all the time and, when he is with them, he's tired and snappy. He's not lost his job yet, and I don't think he actually will, but he is so unhappy that it's just not worth it - money isn't everything and we're very fortunate that we could manage for a while without his salary.

And on that note, best go do some work so I can keep my job

sweetkitty · 17/11/2009 16:37

oh v quiet in here seems to keep dropping off my active convos

MS easing here but SPD returning still last time ever. B still going through her separation anxiety/no one else to cuddle Mum thing, words coming thick and fast now, todays new words is shoes

poledra - so know what you mean pur babies are growing far too fast. My DP's work are doing another reshuffle (last one was March) so more redundancies more reapplying, it's a nightmare so unsettling.

pigley - maybe in this current climate a job is the main thing, as poledra said is there any option for working at home or flexible hours. My DP used to be out the house 6.20am to 7pm 5 days a week, now he has his own car and is usually home by 6pm which has made a big difference but he is often away overnight at least once a fortnight.

Disney - agree about signing on, I see it as reclaiming some of your tax and NI back, you are entitled especially with DC.

oops can smell something better go deal with it

pigleychez · 17/11/2009 18:52

Sk/ Poledra- I do appreciate that DH is lucky to have a job at all at the moment. He is unlikely to be able to work at home as his job involves alot of work for the government/MI6 which has to be in a secure office, with secure phone lines and secure networks. He had to have major security checks and 4 hour interviews etc to prove he was suitable! They even interviewed his firends about him and looked into all our finances and family. ( hes not a spy or anything! Just a computer guy )
I suppose really hes been lucky to find a job like this local already as this kinda work is usually london based. Oh well.. Guess we have just been spoilt!

SK- about the SPD.

Poledra- Know what you mean about them growing up fast. I catch Abigail doing things too that make her seem so grown up and not my baby anymore Why do they grow so quickly!

Evening ladies! It has been v quiet here lately!

Hope all the PG girlies are doing ok?

Disney - glad things are picking up a little for you!

I broke my toe last week which was (and still is) agony! So ridiculous, just stubbed it on the bottom of the sofa! Toe and part of foot is black & blue and still quite swollen! Typical of me, just as I was getting better from the MS relapse!

Been out to music group again today & P was quite quiet and clingy which isn't like her. She was very out of sorts of Sun with her teeth(?) although you are never 100% sure that's the problem are you! She has also had a nasty rash which looks like she has been rolling in nettles, very odd. Went to GP twice yesterday, as it had faded the 1st time by the time we got there! 2nd time we waited nearly an hour & lovely receptionist gave P a biscuit as it was past tea time & she was restless. They think it is some sort of allergic reation, no idea what to! She haven't done/used/eaten anything different.

Going to toddler group 2moro at the playgroup we want P to go to. They told us no need to register so soon when DH rang them. But last week a lady found out her 2.6 DS doesn't have a place for Jan and she registered over a year ago. So will be registering P asap!

Had a nice afternoon doing painting with P today. Got very messy but she really enjoyed herself & stopped her scratching the rash for a bit!

Poledra · 17/11/2009 21:33

bebe, just a quicky to say that, if P has had a virus, the rash could be associated with that. They can get non-specific pruritis (oooh, get me! Well, I am a medical scientist ) following on from a virus.

bebejones · 17/11/2009 22:04

Poledra - Had discussed that with GP but she has been fine apart from the teeth (big molars) no temp at all. Just got to keep monitoring it. Thank you though, & very impressive!

disneystar1 · 18/11/2009 09:50

morning all just a quickie here as samuels eating toast (in my view)and im in the study checking mail>

so so tired here today and the wind is terrible,im def going to rest when sam takes his nap

hes being such a monkey at night ever since we came home from hospital he will not be left nin his cot not for a minute, me or dh has to sit on his floor holding his hand and then he sleeps, same if he wakes in the night, its a real fear scream too.....i think he just does not feel safe and secure right now, my poor guy

lots of signing here and pitch tone no words at all but if i say ta he will say aaaaa so its good and he signs thank you back

bebe have you changed washing powder/comfort/ has she been rolling or on someones elses carpet?
borrowed clothes/different vests etc....

some are ultra sensitive and the slightest change can spark it off, have you thought of an allergy tester kit or get one done for you. hope shes ok and you and you with your broken toe, havnt you enough going on right now seriously hope your doing ok xxxx

love to everyone and to all the pg ladies hope all is well and your feeling fine.

bebejones · 18/11/2009 12:35

Disney - so with you on the wind here. Howling down the side of the house, and really biting cold! Brrrrr Sam is such a little sweetie hope he is better after the flu.

Haven't changed anything at all detergent/soap wise. Had started giving her more cow's milk (we thought she might have been intolerant before but she isn't being sick anymore with it) and also given her some grapes again (although she has had them before just not for a couple of months). Cutting out grapes next couple days see if it improves. Then will do the same for cow's milk! She has started coughing a bit now though. Such a puzzle, maybe she is getting a viral rash before the virus?! She is a little clingy and being odd with food, but her molars are poking through and her gums look sore, so am putting it down to that. Just so hard to tell!

Isaidno · 18/11/2009 12:50

Hi all, been house of sickness at ours last week. DS2 had swine flu, Poppy had a pukey thing and DH had diarrhoea.

I know what everyone means about growing up fast. Poppy wants to play with the boys all the time - and they don't always want to play with her! She's still my baby though

pigley - abigail's swimming sounds fab! love the pics on fb.

ponto - it was me asking about bf - glad I'm not the only one! I have quite a few friends in rl bfing over 12 mths which is nice.

sk - sorry to hear spd kicking in

Must go do some housework.. or some knitting

JODIEwantsanewname · 19/11/2009 07:26

Hi all,

Just popping in to say hello.
Well weekend away was fab, pretty eventless, but thats what we wanted. Just long lunches and lots of wine consumed!! Was so nice to 'get to know' DH again, if you know what I mean, and get the old me back, even if only for a couple of days! It now seems like we never wnet away though

Sorry to hear everyone's been poorly Isadno hope you can turn a corner soon.

I agree with everyone, where have our babies gone? Sam isn't a 'talker' but he knows exactly what I'm saying to him, he's so clever! He is just too cute!

disneystar1 · 19/11/2009 16:22

question for poledra please

the lab has just rang me and said samuel has

staphylococcus aureus (excuse spelling)

the surgeon will not operate now, it has to

be treated first, so can it be treated,

and as his op is to intense and dangerous

already ,is this is a problem, and will it

be a problem post op?? sorry i just thought

you may know.

2nd call from lab and the swab they took from

his eyes showed up the infection.

sweetkitty · 19/11/2009 16:27

Disney - I am not totally up to date but S.aureus (you got the spelling right) is normally found on about a third of people and usually it does no harm. If it is in his eyes then it could be a problem, what they should be doing is doing a sensitivity test to find out which antibiotics will kill it rather than just giving him one in the hope it will kill it. A course of antibiotics should do the trick. The problems come from the drug resistant strains, you have probably heard of MRSA. I think they are just making sure he is ultra healthy before operating.

Poledra · 19/11/2009 16:45

Agree with SK (who's a microbiologist, so knows more about this than me )- they are just making sure that Sam does not have anything that will make it more difficult for him to recover from his operation. Another point is that the op would potentially allow the S aureus to get into his bloodstream and they don't want to risk giving him an infection which will affect his recovery time.

The right antibiotics should clear it up fairly quickly.

disneystar1 · 19/11/2009 19:04

thank you guys, and yes sk i have to pick up something tomorrow from the gp, the hospitals surgeon is real mad at the gp for not informing them, and they could of operated without knowing

sk apologies i completely forgot you were a microbiologist, all these babies and all we lot chat about on here, i now remember you saying thats what you did,

thank you 2, you know its great being able to ask things on here and someone knows the answer,

sweetkitty · 19/11/2009 20:20

Oh Disney don't worry haven't been a microbiologist for over 5 years now so a bit rusty, comes in handy when you are asked a question on MN though.

JODIEwantsanewname · 20/11/2009 16:43

Hey Pigley, you are famous now, you've made it to talk round up!!!

pigleychez · 20/11/2009 20:05

oh Jodie thanks for pointing that out. Dont think ill be pointing out that claim to fame to my mum though! glad you had a nice weekend away

Hope everyones ok.

Bebe- Hope the toes improving- ouch. Hows P's rash now. Any further ideas on whats causing it?

Disney- Poor Sam, Best they found it before the op though and can treat it now.

All fine here, had a fun morning in the soft play centre today even though it was heaving!

Abigail has now mastered drinking from an open beaker. Looks so grown up bless her!
