Happy Anniversary 3Mummy . I hope you have a really good time (You know what I mean) .

shalaa · 18/06/2005 13:27

Jambot, were looking at introducing Caleb to baby rice sometime next week. He's 4 months old, is constantly watching us when we eat and is hungry all the time! Will still breastfeed but just give him a little bit of baby cereal once a day.

Need to drop about 2 stone, am trying to walk everywhere and eat healthily but it's so much easier to just grab a packet of crisps or chocolate.

norash · 18/06/2005 14:23

I have 4 Stone to lose. I have started going to the gym and all the aerobics classes I can squeeze in .

Very slow progress but getting there

popsycal · 18/06/2005 14:44

about to put some more photos on photobucket!!!

Harry is very grumpy today and wont sleep for long so gets more grumpy...it is so hot and humid here but very overcast

both boys are asleep now and I am sat here drinking a small beer (yes it has been that kind of day )

norash · 18/06/2005 14:53

Popsy, I hope you are enjoying your beer. Kieran just woke up got to go. Looking forward to the photos, will post some more soon too.

Hi everyone - just catching five minutes to myself. Dh had popped into work to pick up some papers, Grace is asleep on her sheepskin on the floor, and we have left dd1 at a country dancing festival - spent all morning there but it was getting so hot so have asked one of my friends to bring her home. We were a bit worried about Grace overheating. Wasn't expecting this heat today otherwise would have taken a fan for her. Oh - she is awake again and smiling at me - off to play with her!

norash · 18/06/2005 14:54

Going to our church BBQ later. Hope you guys are taking advantage oof the good weather.

norash · 18/06/2005 14:55

Bonym glad to know that you are enjoying yourself.

jambot · 19/06/2005 19:01

Leaving Lauren with my parents was a great success. She didn't wake at all during the night, which is a relief. If it hadn't of worked I would have felt akward asking her again for a while. Went on a trip to the our beautiful botanical gardens. Lauren loved looking up at all the trees as we walked. It's been raining a lot but had stopped enough for DH and I to have a nice few hours out with her. She really is a happy little thing. Didn't even complain when I tried on about 10 of her 3-6 month outfits on her today. She is just starting to get too big for some of her smaller things. Hard to believe they still fit as she is the average size of a 5 month old. But she's tall and quite slim. Don't know what mums with little babies do. They must drown in some of the 0-3 month clothes. And there's everyone saying not to buy newborn size as they won't fit into them.

Leogaela · 19/06/2005 20:46

Great weather here as well! I am so lucky, there are several outdoor pools nearby and of course the lake, so I swim outside as often as possible.

Friday we signed the contract for our house ! But we don't move until October ! The sellers invited us for dinner there so we sat on 'our' patio having dinner. The house is great, it was really nice to look round it again, we tokk a long time finding it so were really happy to see again that the house is almost perfect ! The only thing missing is a view of the mountains (althoug there is a balcony from the bedrooms where you can see them) or of a lake, but eihter would have made the house unaffordable and we would have been looking for years!

They served us a different bottle of wine with each course 3 1/2 bottles in all and I had at least a glass of each . I think it was drunk over long enough time to not have any effect on Niklas.

He isn't well . He has a bad cough a runny nose, slept most of the day and a temperature of 38.6. i think I should take him to the doctor tomorrow????

Yesterday we (me & Niklas) went to a hen day/night. Dh came and picked him up at 8.30 after I'd given him a big feed so I had the rest of the evening without him. It felt strangely normal!

I expressed some milk, the hand method worked very well, but i still find it messy and the milk spurts out in all directions. the only way i can get half of it into a pot is to get down on my hands and knees and hang my boob over the pot !

Jambot, we have a cleaner as well, but she will only come every 2 weeks, when we move we will find a weekly one....!

As for the eating, I thought it was generally accepted that it was OK to introduce baby rice at about 4 months after the due date of the baby if the baby seemed to be ready to take it. When is everyone else thinking of introducing the first solids?

Bonym - very interesting, I had blocked ducts several times in the breast Niklas isn't so keen on, the milk seems to flow out ok though. The nipple is a bit sore on that side though and I've had a white spot on it for a while. thought it may be thrush but no other problems with it, its sore not painful. how much longer do you have to wait for your appointment to get your lump checked? i thought things like that were supposed to be treated with high priority!

Popsycal - in switzerland its the law the the employee has to give a bfeeding mother the time and a place to feed her baby while at work. Are there no laws like that in the UK?

3mummy - how was the christening?

I'm now going to check out the new photos! ! And will look to see if I have any good ones to post. HAven't taken any for a while.

shalaa · 19/06/2005 22:36

Leogaela I envy you being able to swim outdoors! Hope Niklas gets better soon. I'm melting at the moment, we went to argos and brought one of them tower fans, it now follows us room to room!

We gave Caleb some baby rice yesterday!! Am so excited, he pulled a confused face but was happy to have about 5 small weaning spoon portions. He swallowed it and didn't push it out with his tongue, although he kept shoving his fist in his mouth so it went everywhere. Am trying to give him a little bit each day now, just babyrice and then babyrice with pureed fruit when he's 5 months.

Cristina7 · 19/06/2005 22:53

Wow! What hot weather this weekend. We went to Brighton and stayed with a friend of DH's.

Sylvia is still a good sleeper, day and night. I haven't asked the dr if this is OK but she seems fine, managing on v little milk but lots of sleep...

I haven't started on my PhD yet and won't do so until mid-September. I've just bought plane tickets for 3 weeks' holiday in Romania in the second part of August and first week of September.

This Tuesday I'm having a driving test (my third). I so want to pass as money will become an issue shortly, especially since lessons are £20 an hour. On the other hand, I got a tax rebate which will go some way towards extending my unpaid maternity leave till next March.

3mummy · 20/06/2005 00:02

Hi everyone, can't stop. I'm absolutley shattered, but have had a lovely weekend ! The weather has been fantastic (maybe a little too hot for Faith) and my birthday was thoroughly enjoyable !!! I had lots of lovely presents - mostly money and "NEXT" vouchers - which I can't wait to spend, but after seeing myself in the baptism photos I have decided I need to lose some serious weight before going shopping for clothes!!!!!!

The Baptism went really well, beautiful service which Faith slept right through - a blessing really as it was soooooo hot!

I have put a couple of pics in the photo bucket, one of which has all my girls and DH on - we are all cutting Faiths cake, and Faith is in just a nappy because of the heat.

Right, before I get sucked in to spending all night on here I'm off to bed. Will catch up on all your posts another time. Hello to everyone, sleep vibes and weightloss vibes to all who need them!!

ZoeC · 20/06/2005 14:12

Hi All

3mummy glad the christening went well

Cristina7 good luck with the driving test - took me three attempts too

Leogaela - hope Niklas is feeling a bit better, it can be scary when they're poorly but they often bounce back so quickly.

Hope everyone is enjoying the weather (actually I'm spending lots of time complaining about being too hot, and it's sooo much harder to settle Rebecca but dd1 is having a whale of a time);.

Well, still breastfeeding but getting a bit fed up at the moment - she used to sleep 7pm - 3 or 4am and last night didn't get past 11.30, then 2.30, 5.30. She's been like that for a while now and I'm starting to feel like she won't get better again. She's in her own room so it's not us disturbing her. I was thinking about whether it might be worth trying a formula feed at 11pm to see if it knocks her out at night, but I'm nervous about the effect on breastfeeding as I don't want to stop. I'm planning on her having a formula feed at 7pm from September anyway as I'm back to work evenings and she'll have no choice so maybe it won't harm to try it now and get her used to it. Dont' know. Honestly, if I could make a decision I'd be dangerous .

Is anyone else mixed feeding at all? Or anyone want to talk me out of it?

Rebecca is just over 3 months old now and nearly 15 lbs (according to bathroom scales

misdee · 20/06/2005 14:15

serena is now eeeeeeeer 16 weeks old i think lol. no idea on her weight.still breastfed and seems healthy enough. she is currently sweating buckets in miews living room wheilst i am at mieows after a driving lesson today.

popsycal · 20/06/2005 18:10

Braved the baby clinic today - 14lbs 15oz! He was 15 weeks old yesterday.

The last two nights have been dreadful.....so he has been in with me just helping himself whenever he feels like it......it is soo hot that I don't like to deny him milk

4 weeks today I go back to work

Leogaela - employers have to provide a room and a locked fridge for breast feeding mothers to express but I dont know anything about feeding......I will look into it....

bonym · 20/06/2005 18:57

Am feeling really fed up today - have an infection in my wisdom tooth, didn't sleep well last night so am tired, and dh is away tonight. Can't even eat chocolate to cheer myself up as chewing is so painful! Sorry to moan - hopefully will feel better tomorrow after a good night's sleep.

BABYD · 21/06/2005 10:53

Thanks for all your encouragement, i feel better for knowing that others have similar probs to me and i'm not the only one. feeding has improved this week and some days havent given 2nd bottle of formula, getting dylan weighed today so we shall see?
Been away for w/e to south wales, had a lovely time, it was nice to get away and dylan was very good. It gave me time to relax.
Hope you are all well.
I'll post some of the holiday pics soon.

jambot · 21/06/2005 13:37

Have posted a few new pics of Lauren. Really admire those B/feeders for hanging in there even when the feeding is still a bit of a nightmare. I've been spoilt with the bottle feeding as it's so much easier to judge how much theyr'e getting and make changes accordingly. Wasn't my choice though - would be breast feeding if it had worked out.
Question for those mums giving expressed milk in a bottle. What make teat are you successfully using? Friend of mine has a 10 week old who won't take the EBM bottle. Teat looks a very funny shape to me so thought maybe that might be the problem.

tamula · 21/06/2005 16:33

sorry your feeling bad bonyM,

Toothache is hell at the best of times but with a wee baby and home alone, thats just down right unfair, are you b/fing? in which case you wouldnt be able to take any ibuprofen, I pracetamol does nothing to combat terrible toothache

I really feel for you, this heat can only be making it all feel worse. How about sucking on Ice to numb the area? Strange as it may sound I vouch for a hot water bottle wrapped in a pillowcase and placed on sore side of mouth, worked wonders for me

Good luck.

bonym · 21/06/2005 18:17

Tam - how funny - I am sat here reading your post and sucking on a piece of ice! You're right that paracetamol doesn't have much effect - I am taking it nonetheless! Have only been able to eat soup today as can't chew anything - never mind, should help with the weight loss - every cloud has a silver lining, and hopefully the antibiotics should start to take effect soon!

Grace is enjoying her "tummy time" much more these days, and surprised herself a couple of days ago by rolling on to her back. She looked a bit shocked at first but then was all smiles

Jambot - have only given Grace ebm a couple of times but used an Avent bottle/teat which she took without any trouble at all.

Glad the feeding is going better BabyD - hang on in there!

Popsy - how are you feeling about going back to work? Who will be looking after Harry when you go back? Have to be honest, work is the last thing on my mind at the moment. Still haven't decided whether to go back or not but luckily don't have to make a decision for some time yet - have told my boss I will probably take 12 months and he is very flexible so I will see how I'm feeling towards the end of the year.

bonym · 21/06/2005 18:22

Have just been checking out all the new photos - don't we all have gorgeous babies? We are very lucky mummies

tamula · 21/06/2005 19:21

I too have been checking new pics and added some new ones, included some of myself so anyone who cares knows what Tamula looks like

popsycal · 21/06/2005 20:13

Bonym - my mum will have the boys on a mon and tues and then our brilliant childminder on wed and thurs and it is looking like me on a friday - 4 day week is almost definite
tbh I cant believe I am oging back in 4 weeks....harry still doesnt know what to do with a bottle, and I feel sooooo emotionally attached to him - so much more than I did with ds1. DH is far less involved this time - mostly as he cant feed him and we also have ds1 to entertain. It is going to break my heart

bonym · 21/06/2005 21:45

Popsy - . I remember going back to work when dd1 was little and being so upset at having to leave her. At least Harry is young enough not to suffer from separation anxiety and it will hopefully get easier for you as time goes on. You will still have 3 days at home with him so that's not a bad balance. It's good also that he will be with people you know and trust - at least you can be certain that he will be well cared for.
