Fury

MakkaPakkasWilly · 05/08/2009 18:56

Hey Sputnik

I don't have to go back unless I feel very dizzy or faint.
I am just a bit emotionally battered after reading about the problem I had. I honestly wasn't aware it was so serious.

Sputnik · 05/08/2009 18:58

Bloody hell that sounds scary, thank goodness for modern medicine, you were both really lucky. Are you going back into hospital today? Nothing serious I hope.

Sputnik · 05/08/2009 19:00

Ah ok, x post.
Don't forget you are awash with hormones, most people don't need an excuse like yours to be in tears a few days after giving birth! Take care and give R a kiss, he is so cute

TheNatty · 05/08/2009 19:07

yes i knew it was serious, thats why i was so concerned when i read what it was in your birth story.
ever so pleased everything is ok for you both (thanks be to god), and you continue to heal well

and remember, we are here to listen to emotional, hormonal ramblings

MakkaPakkasWilly · 05/08/2009 20:36

Thanks guys

TBH I am getting a wee bit concerned about him as he isn't feeding real well. He sleeps for 6+ hours at a time.
Still I will tell the MW when I see her on fri if no improvement.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 05/08/2009 20:43

Sorry to hear that you're suffering MPW. Be kind to yourself. You've been through a lot, even without an unusually traumatic birth.

As for his feeding, all I know is that I had to wake Jamlet (even setting an alarm through the night to wake me to wake her) every 3 hours for feeding. If you are concerned that he's not feeding much, you could perhaps wake him - perhaps not as often, maybe on 4 hours? or perhaps not as often through the night (there is something to be said for not HAVING to wake up!)? Or perhaps I'm talking utter twaddle?! I'm sure someone else must know something?

DH had been talking about taking Jamlet to see his folks for a few days. I was looking forward to a bit of time on my own (, especially with not feeling so hot. But he's decided not to, as he's not sure about doing the long drive with her on his own. Part of me understands, but part of me thinks wuss! Anyway he now has a couple of days off, so we should be able to do some nice things and/or get some chores done at least.

MakkaPakkasWilly · 05/08/2009 20:55

Jammy no you are right, we are waking him

Mum says it's normal for a newborn... hard for me to comprehend as DS1 was a very, very difficult baby!

TheNatty · 05/08/2009 21:07

thomas was also an emergancy section baby, perhaps (and im only speculating) the trauma of the birth takes them longer to recover from? each of my babies has been progressivly more awake, with each birth being less tramtic.

if you are waking him for feeds then you are doing the right thing, im sure he will pick up

sorry to hear you are finding it all difficult, thinking of you x

MakkaPakkasWilly · 05/08/2009 21:13

Thanks for the well wishes and advice girls, good to know that there is so much experience I can draw on here!

Sputnik · 05/08/2009 21:57

DD was very sleepy like that too, I think Natty may be onto something about recovery. I think it is a good idea to wake him if he is going that long between every feed, we used to tickle their feet too to keep them awake long enough for a decent feed.

TheNatty · 05/08/2009 21:59

sputnik i still have to do that to charlie, he always falls asleep mid feed.
another good one is to feed on one side, if he is sleepy change his nappy before putting on the other side. will wake him right up, even if it means he then fills it during the feed. (as charlie always does to me!!)

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 05/08/2009 22:11

I'd forgotten about tickling to keep them awake during the feed!

Sputnik · 05/08/2009 22:18

Ah yes the nappy changing, we did that too. Mostly with DD. She was very sleepy at first but went on to be a crap sleeper. DS less sleepy but became a better sleeper.
Newborns are gorgeous aren't they?
Hopefully Fury is getting some rest.

ursulashipton · 05/08/2009 23:32

fury, glad you are both through it ok, ans safely home.
I know I keep saying this at every opportunity, but I so love DS2s name, it goes well with DS1s too (though I suppose you'd thought of that!) What does DS1 think of his brother?
that you had unnoticed PND with DS1 (are you still in touch with Derlor now?). IME MWs are a lot more on the ball with it in subsequent pregnancies/births if you have any history of depression (I had never heard of AND until I was PG with DS2, but I had had it with DS1 too, and again with baggins). My HV assessed me again at baggins 2 year check. It's good to know they are on the lookout (even if it does make me a bit uneasy when I'm on a "up")
hope you get some rest, take it easy.

ursulashipton · 05/08/2009 23:39

men are such wimps jammy! how many times have you driven to your parents with jamlet on your own? (DH can hardly do anything with baggins around.

DH did take DS2 with him when he went to visit his DD today. (DS2 had just woken up when we got to the outlet centre, so was too upset and stroppy to go with me, DS1 and baggins). Sadly DHs exSIL decided to visit SDD while they were ther. She is a police officer and went while on duty in the van, in full uniform. Cue full-on hissy fit from DS2 who has an actual phobia of the police. TBH I don't think DH knew how to deal with him, and they had to leave. SDD is doing OK. she went out for a short walk this morning (on her own as her DB wouldn't go with her - another worry there, could he be agrophobic? sp?), and can get around the house to use the loo etc. aparently it is 6 weeks til she goes back to hospital.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 06/08/2009 13:19

Well I'm feeling much worse again today,so nice day out and no chores being done either . I did take myself to bed for a couple of hours this morning. And now DH is in the bath while I sit here feeling crappy. So we're watching a bit of Nemo.

ursulashipton · 06/08/2009 13:25

jammy. Do you have ABs?

shame you are watching Nemo though - DS1 wasjust telling me about his care instructions for his friends fish and I have to confess to being a bit ill when we got t scooping out anydead ones with a net. I HATE fish. He will be doing any scooping, my responsibility ends at making sure their house is properly locked!

going for a walk with Dsis later. DH had to go into work early to cover sick leave, so no birthday celebrations here

I am thinking of having a haircut

ursulashipton · 07/08/2009 16:08

'tis quiet round these parts...

just been on a lovely playdate with the boys

LittleMissNorty · 07/08/2009 16:31

Mmmm can tell Daisy is away

I've been very busy. Work Wednesday, two nightmare children yesterday and hospital pre-op assessment today. Going in Monday week. Got to stay in overnight away from my babies

Fury, hope you are ok. DD was emergency section and it was very traumatic and took a long time to get over emotionally. You need to discuss it with perhaps the staff at the hospital? They sound like they were fab. DS2 is beautiful. Hope DS1 likes him as well

Don't want to come round to do my fish then Ria? One has "disappeared" and we can't find it. Its more than likely dead and is either hiding or being eaten

How are you feeling Jammy?

ursulashipton · 07/08/2009 16:35

no thanks norty. Did you have a good day at work?

Jammy, hope you're out enjoying some sunshine.

I feel really flat now I'm home. When DH goes to work we'll wander up to the shop for something for tea, then I think I'll park the boys in front of the TV for a hour and try to attack some mess. Am liking the thread about having wine in a mug at3pm. If that's what it takes to get the housework done I'm all for it

back later

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 07/08/2009 19:20

Well, I have felt rather better today. Had to have a bit of a lie down after an early start with Jamlet, but then managed to go out into town with DH and her this morning. Was exhausted when we got back though, but not feeling so bad now

Jamlet walked further today than she has yet! She's been a bit of a wimp for walking any distance so far, but she walked half a mile to the library with DH this morning, then I met them there later with the pushchair, and she had a little ride then asked for out and walked the rest of the way to town, and a little of the way back, so nearly a mile in all

Fury - how are you doing now?

Norty - at the idea of your fish hiding when it's dead!

TheNatty · 07/08/2009 19:44

i am starving.. sainsburys not due till 9pm.
might have eaten my arm by then

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 07/08/2009 20:08

Oh dear Natty. not got any stale bread you can toast or cereal you can nibble on until then?

TheNatty · 07/08/2009 20:10

my cupboards are completly empty except some honey and a tin of tomatoes...

glad you are feeling better x
