Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 23/09/2009 21:11

Well, I have now finished my evening home working for good But am quite about missing out on a half day with Jamlet (and going to the gym and Make & Play.) Just had a good sob .

The counselling isn't through the GP. They only offer 6 weeks and my GP didn't think that was long enough so recommended this place. So I'm already going to be paying - they work as a charity and do subsidised rates for those who can't afford it but we earn enough to be expected to pay. The wait is because I can only attend in the evenings.

LittleMissNorty · 23/09/2009 21:48

Awww Jammy....do you start next week? you'll be fine - and so will DD....just think you can MN and FB every night next week

PITA about counselling.....I used to take DD and deprive her of naps in the morning to ensure she slept whilst I was there....but there is no way I could do that now.

Bit pissed off with the nursery but I may be being a bit unreasonable. I sent her with 3 pairs of knickers and a pair of training knickers (for the car mainly) and she came home in a nappy. They obviously didn't put her on the potty often enough (despite telling me they did) and also threw a pair of (brand new) knickers away after she'd done a poo. I haven't had a single accident here and she came straight home, took off her own nappy and sat on the potty. She also has sores on the inside of her legs where she has been left wet and knickers have rubbed and she complains when she does wee. Am I expecting too much? of her? of the nursery? I would never have sent her in knickers if I didn't think she could cope - but she was fine up until today. AIBU? I really want to ring them and have a moan but need to get things in perspective.

TALLULAHBELLEOFTHEBALLROOM · 23/09/2009 21:55

Evening all.
Hoped to stay & chat but am knackered.Taking myself off to bed now & leaving all the mess behind. Will regret it in the morning but am soooo tired. DM has taken Thing 1 to stay over, get her away from the germy house of horror & leaving me with just the 3 sick babies to run around after. Catch up tomorrow.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 23/09/2009 22:50

I don't know about the nursery and the potty Norty. But I was thinking today about whether it's acceptable to expect a nursery to put a toddler on the potty (or to prompt) very regularly or whether it's just not feasible in that situation. Does sound bad if she's got sore patches from it though.Maybe you need to ask them what they can do /what they have done in the past? I presume you aren't the first parent to have a child going through potty training after all!

DD's friend asked to do a wee just before they left today. And so Jamlet wanted the potty too. She was already wet when I took her nappy off but I put her in pants and let her play and about an hour later (and after half a dozen dry "sits") she did do a wee in the potty Lots of praise and a "clever cheebie" sticker for her!

kristinaRIAnoff · 23/09/2009 23:10

I don't know about nursery either Norty (I know that the village playgroup used to regularly send DS2 home in a pooey pull up though. When DS1 was little they wouldn't take them unless they were potty trained, but they had to change it to keep business). I do have a friend who runs a nursery in Cumbria. I could ask her their policy if you like? IMO though, potty training is part and parcel of caring for a child, which they are being paid (rather well) to do, so it should well fall within their remit. They have "rooms" for different age groups don't they? So presumably all the children will bemore or less at the same level.

for your change in routine Jammy. Hopefully it will make things better for you as you won't have to work really late if Jamlet won't settle etc. It's a shame about your counselling. My last lot I took baggins to and got a bollocking for taking him, so we stopped quite abruptly. The new lady (for this referral) seems nice, but I haven't yet had to take baggins with me, and have only seen her twice, about once every 5 weeks (I really must post that website she recommended - they are very into "self help" here, we have dedicated sections in all the local libraries). I don't know if I'm limited to a certain number of sessions or not. A friend got an "emergency" home visit from the crisis team when she first got divorced. DS1s CAHMS referral was limited sessions though.

sorry rambling again.

DH just come in...

LatinDAISYcal · 23/09/2009 23:17

sorry things are still horrible in your house T, and I hope the doctor got back to you. when mine have had sickness bugs I was told to just offer milk as often as possible and that even if it isn't staying down at least something is getting into them. Keeping an eye on dehydration is key, dry nappies, skin on back of hand staying pinched and a dry mouth and tongue as well as hollow fontanelle are the main symptoms.

Norty, I would expect the nursery to take a very proactive role on potty training (as Jammy said they must deal with this on a daily basis!) and would be less than impressed that she had sore thighs; that would indicate that she had been left in soggy clothes for quite some time. Even if she hadn't noticed she'd done it, they should have noticed she was wet. I'd be tempted to have a quiet word with the manager tomorrow.

I am going to see the head tomorrow. DS1 wasn't kept in, and although he was in the "quiet" playground at breaktimes, he wasn't at lunchtime as apparently if he had gone there he wouldn't have been allowed out to go for lunch . So although he said he didn't charge around as usual (like I believe that!) he said that he had to do "Wake up Shake up" with everyone else before lessons started again and that he tried to sit out but his teacher told him he had to do it. Not very happy about it at all.

Singing tonight.....am taking part in a set they are doing on Friday. Only saw two of the songs tonight and am only one of five altos able to make the gig on Friday tis good fun though.

TheNattyTheHippy · 24/09/2009 08:49

i have 5 minutes to myself..

hello! (whos that? i hear u asking )

DH had surgery tuesday and is recoving well you will all be pleased to know

thomas started school friday, has taken two days off with a tummy bug tho

what have i missed?

TALLULAHBELLEOFTHEBALLROOM · 24/09/2009 09:12

Morning Natty. How's things with you?

Had to call the doc surgery again as no one got back to me. Finally she called around 6pm . Good job it wsn't an emergency. Anyway just said what I already knew really...virus, run its course, fluids...usual advice. Just wanted to be sure they didn't need to be seen. Anyway no puke through the night just whingy baby & no puke so far this morning so touch wood all on the mend.

Not sure about nursery Norty but would expect potty to be part of routine. Maybe just ask them to clarify their policy for you.

LittleMissNorty · 24/09/2009 09:45

Morning

Fingers crossed everyone is on the mend T.....Amazing that you've managed to escape it!

Glad its all over and done with Natty and DH recovers quickly.

DD still very sore this morning but is fine with potty. Woke up dry and done the BIGGEST wee that nearly filled the potty up and has since done lots of wees and poos.....so she is capable but needs reminding. Thanks for advice, I shall have a (gentle) word with the manager today. Glad I slept on it...I was pretty pissed off and disappointed last night.

DS just cut his second tooth and been awake twice for feeding last night....and the dog had me up 3 times

TheNattyTheHippy · 24/09/2009 09:55

morning T glad to hear things on the mend

ive got thomas screaming in my ear hes hungry when he threw up the breakfast he had this morning only half hour ago

MakkaPakkasWilly · 24/09/2009 10:06

off to check out a new nursery today.
The one ds is at are a stupid bunch of feckers.

Sputnik · 24/09/2009 10:49

Definitely not on with the nursery Norty. At ours they would troop all the nappyless ones off to the loo on a regular basis, I don't think you can expect very little ones to ask to go every time.

Hi Natty, glad your DH finally had his op, hope he recovers well.

LittleMissNorty · 24/09/2009 10:58

Just spoken to the manager at the nursery and she was horrified. Trouble is, every time you say to K "do you want a wee", she says "no".....but she says that to everything atm. The manager said to me, she should be taken every 20 minutes regardless, they should never have put a nappy on her and she was very apologetic about her legs. Bet its different next week!!

TheNattyTheHippy · 24/09/2009 11:05

MPW - lmao, the way you put things really tickles me sometimes!

LatinDAISYcal · 24/09/2009 12:30

woohoo natty, was just wondering where you had got to. Glad DH is recovering well; when do you get him home?

Bumble is pushing has babywalker all over the floor today and standing on his own for a few seconds...clever little onion It's getting tedious though as I need to turn him round when he gets to the other side of the room and gets stuck!

I've been writing my business plan this morning; and what I plan on achieving is scaring the pants off me

TALLULAHBELLEOFTHEBALLROOM · 24/09/2009 13:14

Quick q for you seasoned e bayers. Have tried to sell my Loola locally but got no interest. Don't want to e bay it for pick up cos they always seem to go for much less. But don't know how to do courier. Had a look online & they seem to need recipient address to give quote. So how do I know how much for P&P if I don't know where its going? And is all the packing & organising just more hassle than its worth?

LittleMissNorty · 24/09/2009 13:18

I use these T....if you say £10, providing its not over 25kg and its within the UK, you'll be fine.

The only PITA is staying in for it to be collected.

kristinaRIAnoff · 24/09/2009 13:27

thanks for link norty, have bookmarked as I need to get some selling done. I just thought of something I needed to buy too, but I've forgotten again. I'm sure it was massively important too. I blame my mother! She rang me to sat DS1s postcard from last week had finally arrived and we ended up having a very depressing chat about his non-dyslexia. poor kid. think I will have to make a nusiance of myself at school again!

LatinDAISYcal · 24/09/2009 13:32

I use interparcel. They have a service with UPS, interparcel economy, that costs £6.99 plus VAT. They are pretty reliable and although it's a 48 hour service it usually gets there next day

LatinDAISYcal · 24/09/2009 13:34

oh, and I've couriered loads of stuff and it isn't that much of a problem. I usually say £15 depending on what it is as I often add in the additional insurance as well (usually only covered up to £50), and have never had a problem with buyers actually paying that much for it.

TALLULAHBELLEOFTHEBALLROOM · 24/09/2009 13:51

Cheers. Will give it a go. Don't have any of the packaging - do I just buy a big wad of bubble wrap or what?

TheNattyTheHippy · 24/09/2009 15:17

ive sent pushchairs with bubble wrap and covered in bin liners if you dont have the box.
i need to off load some stuff now the M&B testing is over, does anyone know how long i have to keep onto it for? its all massive cots and i have NO space in my house.

hey daisy!
Dh is getting out this evening, tho the docs have told him he cant come home incase the kids jump on him
he said ok and is getting my parents to pick him up and take him home to us, that way the hospital are none the wiser.
how silly is that tho, its only keyhole surgery, and you dont see mums being told they cant go home to their family after a c-section.

LatinDAISYcal · 24/09/2009 16:13

tallulah I think your super long name is causing issues.....everytime someone posts after you, there is huge white space between their post and yours and your name is only half showing.

I know they had ishoos with long names before but I thought it was sorted. Or is it just me seeing that?

LittleMissNorty · 24/09/2009 16:38

just you I think Daisy

LatinDAISYcal · 24/09/2009 18:10

very odd
