OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
RIAlityBites · 21/09/2009 09:32

That's good daisy. You are very brave putting your phone number on though.

Thanks jammy Your pics are lovely too, I love the ones of Jamlet and Grandad, the autumn colours ones are stunning.

fell asleep last night putting the boys to bed, so diet postponed til tomorrow whebn I've eaten curry and finished the wine

LittleMissNorty · 21/09/2009 09:40

Morning. I also thought that about your phone number Daisy....esp as you've linked to it from here.

Looks good. Love the bumblebee drawing .....need some photos of some nappy clad bums now

DD seems to be training herself here (with encouragement but I'm not leading her, she appears to be doing it herself I think) and I'm not sure what to do. If she has a nappy on, she wets it and tells me afterwards, but if she goes bare, she runs to the potty and gets on with it. So when do I introduce knickers to the equation? When do I get rid of nappies (in non-sleep times). I put a pull-up on over breakfast and it was dry afterwards. What do we do if I want to go out / get her dressed etc....any help gratefully received as I haven't a clue what I am doing.

RIAlityBites · 21/09/2009 12:59

Not a lot of advice from me Norty, I use pull-ups at daytime and keep on with nappies until I started night training. I am not fond of potty training.

So, is new Strictly worth watching then?

DH has gone back to bed with a headache. Pah.

LatinDAISYcal · 21/09/2009 14:02

ach well, I need contact details to be on it don't I? My surname isn't there though so not that traceable I don't think.

when I start selling I'll need to put my address on as well; legal requirement apparently.

Dd is driving me bonkers today; she is whiney and irritable. She keeps falling over her own feet as well and not sure if it's her just being clumsy, or her feet are growing and she doen't know where they are yet, or if there's something else going on. She hurt herself last week and was limping for a bit, but when I ask her she says her leg isn't sore.

Sounds like your DD is doing well with the potty training Norty. DD goes through phases; today is a nappy day! And she is back in cloth nappies to try and save our bin a little during the current strike.

Just had to rush out mid-post to take DS1's inhaler to school for him as he has been really wheezy.

Sputnik · 21/09/2009 16:48

No problem I think putting your contact info on the website, but if you don't want peolpe on MN to identify you in RL then I'd get the link removed. If you're hoping for some business through MN or planning to put a small business ad then no problem.

Anyway, site looks good, my only advice would be to do with getting found on search engines, so you want the text on you homepage to be rich in keywords. You already have cloth nappies, but try and incorporate reusable and washable nappies - and whatever other terms you think people will be googling for. The page title is also crucial so try and incorporate the search terms there too, as well as specific things ie where you are based.

TALLULAHBELLE · 21/09/2009 17:55

Hi everyone. Trying to grab a few moments peace before teatime onslaught.

Site looks great Daisy. Love the name and logo. Am bit of a luddite though so will leave the tips to the others.

Potty training is full of trials & triumphs here too. If we are home then I usually leave DD bare and she uses the potty or sometimes the toilet quite well. I generally pop her on every so often & at times she will just go herself. The other day she went into the loo, did a poo on the potty, wiped her bum & tipped the poo down the toilet. First we knew was when DH found the evidence -she didn't flush & left the loo paper on the floor . Other times she wees on the floor then proudly announces it & will always ignore the potty if she has a nappy/pull up on. Have taken her out a few times in pants on the bus and everything and she's done really well so I guess she respnds to the challenge and I should just bite the bullet and say no more daytime nappies .But I'm a wimp.

LittleMissNorty · 21/09/2009 18:25

Hi T

The thought of DD going out without a nappy on scares me silly.....my changing bag is already massive!

Think I might go out to Mothercare tomorrow and get something for travelling and some ITNG knickers if they do them

LatinDAISYcal · 21/09/2009 19:14

thanks for all the comments . that's the way bG spell it jbm, although it does look odd i must admit. I plan on adding lots mor`e to it; info on nappy types etc etc etc as well as the range of nappies I "stock" and ultimately a link to my webshop

FAQs is a gREAT IDEA JAMMY (oops bumble HELPING; he likes CAPS LOCK!)

and the search engine thing is all good too. Not worried about the link as I deliberately kept the site name out of the link AND IF ANYONE PUTS TWO AND TWO TOGETHER AND recognises me; well they might want to buy some nappies from me rather than someone they don't know

I have been looking at LOTS of different nappy sites trying to steal get some ideas; it's just finding the time to do it, as daytimes are out as the littlies are way too demanding.

LatinDAISYcal · 21/09/2009 19:18

well done on all the potty training. DD was doing well, but has changed her mind again this week and has bee asking for real nappies!

I have a fear of taking her out without a nappy as well. Might stock up on some bright bots or something which look more like pants and hold one wee, so although she might still have accidents, at least her clothes will be saved a bit.

how are you finding the new tots forum T? I miss the daily round ups!

Sputnik · 21/09/2009 21:00

Gosh, daily roundups from the world of cloth, how exciting!
Went for my scan today and nothing untoward going on with my norks, so that's all good. I wasn't that worried really but glad it's out of the way.

LittleMissNorty · 21/09/2009 21:23

Good news Sputnik.....are you feeling better?

Sputnik · 21/09/2009 21:30

Ok, but still have thrush in them. Am hoping this diet I'm following will help, otherwise I have to go and convince the doctor.

LittleMissNorty · 21/09/2009 21:31

Oooh sounds painful. Will the GP not treat it? Don't think I could ever imagine not eating bread

Sputnik · 21/09/2009 21:37

She wasn't convinced the problem was thrush and didn't seem to know much about it. To be fair I had really bad mastitis so she probably assumed it was that causing pain.
I haven't really eaten much bread for a while anyway, I eat it more in the winter usually. So not a huge sacrifice for me.

justbeme · 21/09/2009 22:22

Glad you're scan was clear Sputnik!

Re potty training - L has been a little star. so made my life easier.
I admit I wimped out on the first Tesco shop and round a large market by using pull ups and taking her to the toilets there when I was near one.
I've made her sit on a washable nappy in the car and in her pram - but she's gone off that idea now!!
So I bit the bullet and after a few days at home bare bummed (thats her not me!) - she wears pants and clothes.
I didn't over do the asking - as that gets on their nerves after a while.
Im still using nappies at night - but they are mostly dry and I have popped one on in the day nap - but other times I havent.
But in the last 10 days - she has only had 1 accident, which I thought was fab!!

LittleMissNorty · 21/09/2009 22:28

That's brilliany JBM....perhaps I just need to be brave. Like Tallulah's DD though, put a nappy on and she realises too late she needs a wee.

LatinDAISYcal · 21/09/2009 22:36

great news on L's potty training jbm

are you OK? saw your FB profile.

glad the boobs are fine sputnik, but sorry there is still pain from the thrush. CAn you get some OTC fluconazole? a couple of big doses might be enough to kick start things and then following the diet. Get some acidophilus as well, and annobal swore by green australian bush flower remedy. Also grapeseed extract is meant to help too.

justbeme · 21/09/2009 22:41

I think it is a case of being brave - the Tesco checkout lady "made" me do it!
I bought a massive pack up pull ups and she said you should just be brave and put them in pants - thats how they learn, so the next day I took the pull ups back.
Plus - I was given a GF potty training book (given) you understand!!
and she recommends the same thing and says you can train in 7 days.

Im ok Daisy - nothing major!

LatinDAISYcal · 21/09/2009 22:49

I think we are going to give it a more concerted effort re potty training. It's partly my laziness

the leg fell off the sofa earlier.....the frame is completely trashed and the screws just won't bite, so we have radged in some bigger screws for the time being but it's still very wobbly. It seems a shame to junk a sofa because of a broken leg, but we can't see how it can be fixed. Maybe needs grandad on the case!

RIAlityBites · 21/09/2009 22:58

Grandads can fix anything (need to make a list for DF)

sorry for sounding "?" earlier daisy. I have a serious phone phobia, so very few people have my home number

well done on the potty training!

I love it the way random people can be the fount of all knowledge on some things (and also the way they are so NOT on others)

RIAlityBites · 21/09/2009 22:59

apologies for rambling. It is my current last pre-diet night so have a bottle of wine to finish...

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 22/09/2009 12:39

I am very impressed with all this potty training that's going on. I had heard that the way to go was to switch to pants (apart from nightime and longer car journeys) and have taken that approach, and probably will again, but attempts so far have had mixed success. At the moment I normally get told after she's weed, though the other morning she put her hands on her hips and said "Po" and then sat on the potty for a poo and a wee

Was very stressful getting ready this morning, with Jamlet being deliberately obstinate, doing the opposite of what I asked. Talk about pushing it to see how far she could go! Ended up with the naughty step and tears And I've just agreed to an extra morning of getting ready for work/nursery each week! Yes, tomorrow will be my last evening working at home

Off out tonight with a couple of local mum-chums Going to the Indian restuarant across the way. They do really delicious coconut rice - don't really care what curry i have as long as I can have that rice!

TALLULAHBELLE · 22/09/2009 14:16

Sounds yum Jammy.

I have been up to my oxters in puke since yesterday teatime - none of it mine! DD started the ball rolling, kitchen floor awash, closely followed by DH, then poor Thing 2. DH took himself off to bed after passing out in the loo, DD didn't go to sleep till midnight, DT2 still puking till 4am, lost count of the number of changes of bedclothes n pj's. Round 2 started this morning, 10 min after porridge so been starving them since then. Thing 1 must have the constitution of an ox tho as she is hale and hearty -so far!I am shattered!

TALLULAHBELLE · 22/09/2009 14:29

Hope you enjoyed your wine Ria. Good luck with the diet. I am far too undisciplined for diets.

Good news on the scan Sputnik. Hope you can get the thrush sorted. I had a bout with DD and ate gallons nat yoghurt & took acidophilus tablets. Seemed to help.

Well done on the potty training JBM or rather L . I don't mind the odd accident on the living room floor but what do you do if it happens on the bus or the middle of M&S?

I like the new Tots site Daisy, much better. But I need the digests, can't get through all the messages just don't have the time for it & don't want to miss anything important - like fluffy post .

RIAlityBites · 22/09/2009 14:35

Tbelle, hope you and Thing One stay clear, and the others recover quickly.

glan your scan Ok sputnik.

an evening out sounds good jammy.

we just had fish and chips looking at the sea, diet starts tomorrow, and in earnest on Thursday as it's the 24th, so 3 months til xmas eve. we had to take DS1s guitar through to school for his first lesson, and it seemed rude not to pop down to the sea...
