Whats up Ria?

Hello Fairy . How are your DCs....we don't see much of you now.....your new pic on FB is lovely!

Hello Sputnik . Is DD getting on ok at school?

Just done 15 mins on exercise bike - legs fucking hurt now!

FrazzledFairyFay · 07/09/2009 19:48

What's wrong, Ria?

Hi Norty. All is fine here.

DD is back at pre-school and, so far, seems to be loving it. I think being the eldest in the class is going to be good for her, as she seemed to be quite intimidated by the bigger boys last year.

DS is as bonkers as ever - obsessed with trains, cars and crashing them into things . He's beginning to talk a bit better, but a lot of his words are still fairly unintelligible except to DD and me. He's starting pre-school with DD after Xmas. I can't believe it's coming around so quickly, where did my baby boy go?

LittleMissNorty · 07/09/2009 19:53

I'm the official interpreter here as well, although her clarity is beginning to improve. DS is finding his voice and getting louder and louder!

You won't know what to do with yourself with no DCs in the house! Time has gone very quickly. I'm into my last 3 months of mat leave now

FrazzledFairyFay · 07/09/2009 19:57

I'll find plenty to do I'm sure . I'll have 4 hours twice a week to begin with. If he settles well, then I'll up him to three sessions for the summer term.

that DS is that old already. Are you looking forward to going back, dreading it, or somewhere in between?

MakkaPakkasWilly · 07/09/2009 20:24

Hello All

DS is very good at talking, shame he spends his days drop kicking the other kids and getting himself into trouble. He's being very difficult lately. He's super clever but VERY anti social. We are keeping an eye on him for aspergers tendencies... or perhaps he's just a rude git.

I walked 1.5 miles today with DS2 in a sling and carrying 6kgs of ebay stuff to the post office. Not my wisest hour.

Had a very healthy day with homemade pumpkin soup etc... which I then ruined by eating 2 clotted cream scones

LackaDAISYcal · 07/09/2009 20:35

norty, it goes around quickly doesn't it? Bumble will be one in just under 8 weeks

I like facebook, but I couldn't imagine life without MN....although I'm not on as often as I was, I do like to check in once a day of possible. I think though, if y'all are like me, I might not post if there haven't been many posts since last time I was on, even though I'm reading. If we're all doing that then.....

My November thread has fragmented already, as most of them are first time mums who have gone back to work!

Ria, what's up? you sound horribly stressed

you sound busy Sputnik; I hope you are getting settled in now.

Can I have a proud parenting moment, please? We were back at gym minis today and the coach has asked up to move to the later class which is for ages 3 and up. I said I wasn't sure as DD is not even 2.5, and she said not to worry and that DD would be fine because she has a natural ability and that she is very physically advanced for her age . I know it's only a bit of balancing on a beam without falling off and trying to throw beanbags in a ballpool at the minute, but still. As someone who never had a natural ability in anything I feel immensely chuffed

DS1 enjoyed his first day back and has been wittering on "I love year 3" since he got home. He has already had the teacher trying to get him to work faster though, so we'll see how it goes. I think the loving year 3 has more to do with being able to play with his mate from our street than anything academic!

bumper has a daily mail name at the minute I think.

cross posted MPW. Have you talked to your HV about DS?

I'm just watching Panorama I can't believe that people are still flushing things like cotton buds, sanitary towels and condoms down the toilet!

ria, if you click on "my mumsnet" you can change the no of days it checks for your "threads I'm on"; it's set to default on 3 days iirc.

Blimey, nearly a year old . DS is 7 months now and loving food. I'm much more relaxed this time and he is having a whale of a time feeding himself (not doing BLW, but letting him eat whatever he can within reason). Curry & naan tomorrow

I'm looking forward to going back to work for a bit of peace and quiet. However, DS is a bit of a mummy's boy and only I seem to be able to calm him down, know what he wants etc, so I'm sure I'll find leaving him at nursery very difficult. DH is looking after him all day on Monday when I go to a funeral - that will be hard enough!

Well done for DD Daisy. That's great.

Ah if Bumper has changed her name, that's why I haven't seen her. Where's Butterfly these days?

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 07/09/2009 21:07

I'm with you Daisy on the not posting if no-one else has thing But do lets try to keep this going on here - if nothing else I can moan about my family here, but half of them are on FB now!

Holiday going well. Had a fab afternoon out at the Big Sheep today. Bouncy pillows, sheep dog trials, ducks, go-karts, soft play/ball pools, farm animals and a mini-tractor ride! And there was more but we ran out of time I almost got stuck as I tried to turn round in the tunnel between two ball pools though Jamlet seems scared of her en-suite bathroom though.

LittleMissNorty · 07/09/2009 21:10

I love the big sheep

Whereabouts are you staying Jammy? North Devon is great!

RIAlityBites · 07/09/2009 21:31

sorry to post and run earlier. I am hacked off with DH, who has pissedoff to York for 2 nights again, and yet again he agreed to go without discussing it first, then he had the audacity (I hope that's the right word, I've never used it before!) to ring me and be snappy because he couldn't find the place where he was going for me (freecycle) on the way. Sorry to be a bit self-pitying and self-obsessed, but I am tired of being 2 parents half the time when he is too busy with work/too arsey/going to bed for a lie down becasue the sun was shining on his head when we were shopping. I'm shattered from the co-sleeping and the holiday, and not being able to sleep properly in our bed because it's till propped up on books and I'm forever expecting it to collapse. I have to go and do the dishes from tea now, he did bother to eat with us this week before he went, but didn't offer to help tidy up or anything.

sounds like all is going well for you sputnik

was it a small crawly-type tunnel jammy?

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 07/09/2009 21:37

Not that small Ria, but had to crawl, and it was slightly uphill and then dropped you into another ball pool. And I didn't fancy falling in face first so was trying to turn enough to get my legs out first. I managed in but it all got a bit undignified. Thankfully I was on my own as Jamlet had been too scared to crawl through the tunnel so I had to pass her to DH back up the slide entrance to the first ball pool. I tried climbing out that way myself but it was too slippery to climb up in socks.

Sputnik · 07/09/2009 21:52

Sorry, but !
Big Sheep sounds fun.
DD is loving her new school, I think we made the right decision sending her to an English school.
Have to sort DS now.
Yes Butterfly, I might try bugging her on FB.

justbeme · 07/09/2009 21:53

Jammy - my parents live in Northam!! Wave to them for me will you!! Have a good time!

Sputnik · 07/09/2009 21:55

Actually, I am really liking our new flat, ok it's small, but therefore easier to clean, and the kitchen is open plan with the table right next to it, I can load and unload the dishwasher without even taking a step, everything is handy.

RIAlityBites · 07/09/2009 22:06

hi JBM

justbeme · 07/09/2009 22:17

Hi - Im only running into the computer on the advert breaks - Im watching about the twin towers on channel 4 - the building has just collapsed - it's terrible. I'm compelled to watch things like this!!

RIAlityBites · 08/09/2009 14:02

is there anyone sensib;e and rational thinking about? I am in a quandry!

MakkaPakkasWilly · 08/09/2009 14:34

I am about, but rational? Perhaps not.

RIAlityBites · 08/09/2009 15:18

Hi Fury. I found some money in the garden this morning, and I am in a tizz about what to do. It isn't mine, or DHs (I don't think). My garden is next to a footpath, but the bit where I found the cash has a 7 ft fence with locked gate. So, someone threw it over the fence (so may come looking for it). or it fell out of the coat I had on the washing line which I bought from a charity shop (I didn't check the pockets). DS1 said there were some strangers out near our garages last night and I didn't take any notice of him. DH is away til tomrrow and I am fretting, don't know if I should call the police, or if there is a chance it was in the coat (it was wet, but charity shops don't usually leave cash in pockets do they?). Am terrified it's drug money and someone will come and demand it with menaces!!!

FrazzledFairyFay · 08/09/2009 15:49

Hi Ria, I'm here too. How much was it? Paper, or coins? If it fell out of the coat, wouldn't it be all wet, or at least crinkly from drying?

FrazzledFairyFay · 08/09/2009 15:51

Assuming it's not too much, my temptation would probably be to keep hold of it, in case someone came knocking and asked for it. If no-one does in the next week or so then I'd probably keep it. Otherwise you could hand it in to police - I think there's a rule that if no-one claims it within a set period of time then it becomes yours to keep (but I'm not certain of that)

RIAlityBites · 08/09/2009 15:59

It was paper, and it was a few notes rolled up, wet to the middle (DH says that means it's been through the wash rather than it being in the garden in the rain, and it hasn't rained since Sunday). I think I will hang on to it and watch out for "lost" notices (though how it could be lost over the fence?) or if anyone asks.

LackaDAISYcal · 08/09/2009 16:18

I think it might well have come out of the coat Ria as charity shops don't always check.....having found various bits of detritus in pockets of things I've bought over the year.....never a wad of banknotes though .

you could always contact the charity shop and say you found something in the pocket and give your number incase anyone comes looking...I wouldn't necessarily tell the shop what it was you found though.

fairy I'm sure that's right about the police station. My mum used towork in a cafe and any lost porperty that they found used to come back to them after a certain amount of time (if they wanted it that is; we weren't so poor that we had random odd gloves rather than proper matched pairs )

got my nappy kit this morning; it's lush. I want a teeny tiny newborn bottom again!
