LackaDAISYcal · 04/09/2009 09:12

ah, that reminds me Ria, we are meant to have one of DS1's friends round today

I am having kittens! not literally, but keep getting waves of nausea and am crapping myself about little blue lines after DH's and I's wanton behaviour last weekend. He hasn't sent in any samples after his op so we don't know if he is firing blanks or not and I know the op was months ago, but we've not exactly been busy in that department and as far as I understand it, one needs to keep it all moving regularly to get rid of all the live ones.

RIAlityBites · 04/09/2009 09:26

oh dear daisy. how long can they live? I'm sure it'll all be OK. surely he will have been dealing with it in his own way? DH is supposed to have a reduced count due to a lump (he had horrible tests about 10 years ago for cancer, but as it wasn't a dangerous lump they didn't want to remove it), but it didn't seem to make any difference!

RIAlityBites · 04/09/2009 09:31

DH is at the GP this morning, trying to chase up his biopsy results, and seeing if he can be transferred back to the local NHS hospital as the have a new orthopedic surgeon who specialises in shoulders and knees (and when they've finished with his shoulder they can start on his knees cos they're knackered too!)

can't decide about town. It all seems like too much effort today. If I don't go out I will have to go into the village to get something for lunch. and it looks like rain again, despite being sunny an hour ago.

I want to eat buttery toast with jam...

RIAlityBites · 04/09/2009 09:37

DH saw a locum this morning. Turns out he is allergic to one of the painkillers he has been taking for years (compter said no to his repeat prescription!)

LackaDAISYcal · 04/09/2009 09:53

sorry you are feeling so rough Ria and hope you feel better soon. Have the buttery toast if you need it....tsp butter is only a few syns and the bread can be a HE.

sorry for being all me me me there and ignoring your earlier post

I have read online that it can take 2-3 months or even longer if activity is limited and that a minimum of 20 times is required. Not sure how often DH "amuses" himself at all, or if he has done it enough since the end of Feb for it to have worked though, but I've only been involved four times that I can think of . Will ask him tonight and force him to get that sample in to the docs! I'm getting slightly anxious about it. It would so NOT be a good thing.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 04/09/2009 12:35

Hope you feel better soon Ria.

And fingers crossed Daisy. Let's hope that your DH has been more industrious than you might think in that department!

LittleMissNorty · 04/09/2009 16:16

....OMG Daisy.....perhaps that's natures way of making you have another....making you feel up for it

I couldn't think of anything worse atm....I honestly don't know how you cope with 3.....two is enough for me! They are doing my head in today......and its stil 2 and 3/4 hours till bedtime!

RIAlityBites · 04/09/2009 17:19

I was reading that thread earlier about those Americans who are having no 19, maybe there's something in it though - if you have enough there's no need for any hands-on parenting as they can all look after each other - more Mnetting time. And there's me having finally decided today I can't cope with 3 so might as well stop pining for no 4.

DS1s friend didn't come over, DS1 went there this morning, so we braved the rain to get lunch ingredients, and DS1 came home on his own as his friend was making a card for his sick dog (nothing wrong with that at all, but he is 12, and plays Grand Theft Auto etc on PS3). DS1 managed to wheedle into another friends house this afternoon, and DH and DS2 had "harvesting" to do on Farmville (when did FB become a valid childcare activity?) so I had a snooze. They have finally turned off Rosie and Jim, thank goodness (that man with the creepy ponytail who ought to have been David Essex is starting to get on my nerves). Hope the rain holds off so we can go to mym Mums after tea and fill in til bedtime.

LackaDAISYcal · 04/09/2009 17:39

Norty, it would be a BAD THING indeed if I am.......being a single parent of four children would be very hard indeed!!!

I'll test on Monday; that'll be about 10 days PO

MakkaPakkasWilly · 04/09/2009 19:36

DS1 is a clever boy, he does make me laugh.

He comes in at 6am asking for lady gaga or black eyed peas and can actually work my iphone.

Then he farts, says pardon, farts again and laughs and says "TWO pardon me!" He can dress himself now too.

He's also obsessed with fish fingers and thinks that squirrels eat fish fingers.

Shame he still craps in the bath though.

I am feeling a little better now. It has been a rough few days.

LackaDAISYcal · 04/09/2009 20:06

I'm glad you're feeling better MPw; you have my utter empathy and respect for dealing with food poisoning, a toddler and a newborn!

DD is getting there with dressing herself, and has mastered socks which are pretty tricky I think.

she is exceptionally cute at the minute and is either full of questions which she asks over and over again regardless of how many times you have answered, or else likes to make definate statements "That is a car", "that is daisy" etc etc. She is also a master of subterfuge! she wanted maltesers the other day so I told her to ask Daddy. I was standing in the room behind her when DH said she could have two. I asked her how many Daddy said she could have and she answered "three!" with the biggest grin on her face, the minx

MakkaPakkasWilly · 04/09/2009 20:20

Daisy I think your DD and my DS1 were separated at birth!!

DS1 does something naughty and says "DS2 did it!"
REALLY. Because DS2 is SO active and mobile.

Hey come on, you had the food poisoning too! It was evil hey?? Let's feel sorry for ourselves

LackaDAISYcal · 04/09/2009 20:25

Oh god yes, I often ask the room "Who's got a stinky bum" and she always blames poor bumble.

Now he IS mobile I can see him getting a lot more blame for things round here.

I am only just getting back to normal now, but it's played havoc with my gluten sensitivity....things that didn't normally bother me are bringing me out in the nasty rash that often goes hand in hand with coeliac disease.

DH came home from work with two carrier bags bulging with booze for a donation to charity of £11. Brandy, whisky and five bottles of wine . His office were having a clear out of all the BWS samples and mislabelled and damaged labelled stock and it was £1 for a bottle of wine, £3 for spirits or they were doing carrier bags full of alcopops for £3....fantastic.

OP posts:
RIAlityBites · 04/09/2009 21:28

daisy.

baggins has started with "actually..."

I am glad today is over. Only 2 days left...

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 04/09/2009 21:37

Daisy.

OK most of holiday packing done, and we're not leaving as early on Sunday now so can finish Sunday morning Just need to iron some clothes in the morning and we're all set for my brother's wedding too

HV came to visit today. She isn't overly concerned about Jamlet's speech but is going to refer us for a hearing check to be sure and is coming back at end Nov and if no improvement then will refer for SALT. She lent us a DVD about children's speech and some hints for encouraging her, but tbh there wasn't anything in the printouts she left we didn't already know, but not watched the DVD yet.

LittleMissNorty · 04/09/2009 21:48

Sounds positive Jammy....once they start, they get going very quickly.

Daisy. Perks of the job I guess

My DD can only get socks, shoes and vests on herself. However, she is very adept at getting herself undressed and removing her nappy ....she can even remove a nappy whilst keeping her shorts on

She does lots of poos and wees on the potty now.....usually on getting up and before bed but she does what she wants to. I said to her this morning, come on, sit on the potty, and she laid on the floor, legs akimbo and said "no mummy, pappy"....what do I do about that? I tried to persuade her but she was having none of it. Put the nappy on and she done a huge wee and poo.....don't quite know what to make of it or how to move things along.

LackaDAISYcal · 04/09/2009 21:55

norty, it's quite common for them to do this, and especially with another baby in the house. DD has been doing a weird regression thing, wanting milk in a spouty cup and to be spoon fed and talking baby talk (basically repeating all the noises bumble makes). I think Natty is going through some regression with Ellen as well, so I'm thinking it's an age thing.

I also think it's them exercising a bit of control over their own environment. you do stickers already don't you? could you ramp that up a gear to x no of stickers gets a bribe prize or treat?

Jammy, sorry you didn't get more from your HV's visit and I hope the DVD has some new ideas for you. Fingers crossed there aren't any hearing issues going on. I wish I had some advice for you though.

OP posts:
RIAlityBites · 04/09/2009 21:55

no help from me norty, sorry. I love the phrase "legs akimbo" though, it always makes me chuckle.

hope you have a lovely day tomorrow jammy, is this the wedding we were all asking about? was it humanist?

LittleMissNorty · 04/09/2009 22:00

mmmm you could be right Daisy....when the two of them are eating she often puts her bowl in front of me saying "help mummy"....she is perfectly capable. Yes we do ITNG stickers on the side of the potty.....I'm sure she can be bribed with treats. I'll see how we go. I really don't know if she is ready or not.

Done 4.5 miles in 15 mins on the exercise bike tonight (then had sausage, chips, egg and beans for dinner )

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 04/09/2009 22:10

Welldone on the exercise bike Norty I went to the gym on Weds, but have have loads of ice cream all week and a large cookie tonight .

Yes, my brother's wedding is the humanist one. They are legally married already, had a reg office due last week, but are considering tomorrow as their proper wedding (as am I). They sent me a few snaps from the reg office and it looked v happy and relaxed - I'm sure it looked like DB was wearing a trackie top . Not sure what will happen tomorrow. She has bridesmaids (but not Jamlet ) but he doesn't have a best man, instead our Mum is looking after the ring for him to give to her, and her Mum is looking after the ring for her to give to him. And DH went to Waitrose today and bought 750g of Manchego cheese as a wedding present!

LittleMissNorty · 04/09/2009 22:18

Sounds like it will be a lovely day....and have a fab holiday as well.

RIAlityBites · 04/09/2009 22:25

sounds like a "different" kind of wedding present! shame jamlet isn't a BM, but I bet she steals the show and is the cutest guest. (DS1 didn't even get invited to BIL & SILs wedding when he was still small and blonde and cute. DSS and DSD did, but it's a long time ago so I suppose I should let it go now) Hope it's nice weather (I think you said it was in a park?)

talking of weddings, can I wear black sandals with pink? and why do all trousers suits for fat people make me think of Victoria Wood in the 80s? (and much as I love her, not in a flattering way)

I got as far as looking up the council sports centre in town on the internet the other day, and deciding the creche was too expensive! and was considering getting a 10 sessions for the price of 8 swimming pass, but it means driving into town (I can't justify the price of the gym in the village, or cope with the cliqueyness of it), I need to take action though, even if only to strengthen my hips so I can climb stiles (and stairgates) without getting stuck

RIAlityBites · 04/09/2009 22:35

FFS - I have to log off now so DH can harvest his pumpkins (the only good thing about it is that DS2 wakes him up first thing to check he's done it!)
