aaaarghhhh Q was up at 12, 1.30, 3, 4, and 5.... teething I presume. I left at 7.55 and he was asleep in his cot
I wanted him to wake screaming for DH to deal with just kidding. I'm glad he's cozy and asleep

star6 · 14/08/2009 08:36

you would write "cosy" here, wouldn't you? I'm not spelling incorrectly, just American.

broached the peanut butter thing again with DH last night and apparently its something to do with peanuts being dangerous. He actually got quite angry with me about it.

I think i am going to have to persuade him that cashew butter is the answer!!

KSal · 14/08/2009 09:55

arg... the one that used to bother me most, Star, was sulfur

but... if you look in the dictionary (oxford concise) it has them all with z's... so is ti that people here don't like them rather than it being US spelling?

my DH has these 'things' he gets funny about... one of them is letting cling film touch food (especially if its heated or actually hot plastic in general) and it seems peanuts is another... i did an internet search and apparently they can contain a toxin that can cause cancer. he has no appreciation of the low level of risk where things like this are concerned and i can't argue the point because its Emma that we're talking about feeding peanut butter. If it was just me he'd be ok about it.

the whole allergy thing i agree is a personal decision and based on the lack of any allergies in my family, i have taken the view that i want to expose her to nuts sooner rather than later

RachieW · 14/08/2009 10:18

Ksal- can sympathise about the peanut butter anger. Dh has the same reaction to fish. He doesn't want ds to have fish in case he gets a bone. Like I would just hand him a piece of fish without checking first The thing is J loves fish, so far he has been allowed tinned tuna and salmon (had to pick out all the bones but got bored so secretly crushed them) and then secretly at my Mum's he's had haddock and wolfed it down. Men and their logic eh?

Star- for screaming, does sound like teething. J woke at 10.30 last night and screamed for 40 mins with cuddles and without. Think it was the end of his first sleep cycle but then he couldn't get back off

star6 · 14/08/2009 10:41

sulfur?

CantSleepWontSleep · 14/08/2009 10:42

Was it farmed or wild salmon rachie? I can understand him getting worked up about farmed salmon (though not from a bone pov obv), but not wild.

Yikes for bad night star. Was that after nurofen too?

CantSleepWontSleep · 14/08/2009 10:43

sulphur

KSal · 14/08/2009 10:53

yep the US spelling of sulphur is sulfur, which used to (inexplicably) realllly bother me!

star6 · 14/08/2009 12:32

ha! I didn't even know it was spelled sulphur here I'm up on most of the common ones, as I teach in an american/international school, I try to teach BOTH spellings, but at my age level we've never come across sulfur/sulphur

No nurofen last night csws, my fault. I haven't given it in a while as he hasn't seemed fussy enough for it. Then I felt like it would just get everywhere if I tried to give it to him in the dark and if took him in the light he'd wake too much iyswim. He does take it right off of the spoon very nicely, though.

Pistachio- love the image of ds playing quietly thinking he is going unnoticed!

Glad you had a good day Myjob! Ds and I went for a picnic in Greenwich Park with a friend and her baby which was very nice. Then dh came home early, ds went to bed happily and we've just eaten chinese. Happy Day

CSWS- It was wild salmon. It's just the bones really. MIL once got one caught in her throat so dh is paranoid about it. Even MIL thinks it is highly unlikely J will swallow a bone and dh is being over panicky!
