Hi all,
myjob I admire your ability to cook for that many!
Pistachio good for you trekking around and finding those books!
DH is in a not great mood today. One word, mumbled answers and not talking to me unless I speak to him and when he answers back it's just like that, not mean, just not nice/social. Days like this make me feel like our marriage is horrible. Q cried 30 min off and on/settling and waking.. and he said "he's been crying for half hour don't you think you should DO something about it?" he claims he shouldn't because I'm the one doing the "sleep thing".
and he rolled his eyes when i said he didn't cry for a FULL 30 min... he settled then woke again and I AM going in for a cuddle, he just cries again.
sometimes he just makes me feel like a horrible mom. I know I'm not terrible... I just have to get better at dealing with this. I think I'm far too sensitive.

Well we can beat your 30 mins star. Ds screamed the place down for about 2 hours tonight. He was absolutely hysterical. I got him to calm down and go to sleep after about 45 mins, but he woke and started again 15 minutes later, and we had 2 more screaming sessions. He'd had nurofen (just in case) and gripe water (because he'd swallowed loads of air screaming, and I couldn't be sure that it wasn't digestion related) before going off the first time, but we had to add medised to the list as well in the end. He was rather overtired (up at 5:45 this morning and just two 30min naps), but we wouldn't have expected quite that level of distress just from this.
And then dd has just come down all upset and peculiar, had a quick cuddle and then asked for a cuddle from daddy upstairs and gone up with him. He had forgotten to turn her aircon off, so it might be cooler than she's used to up there, but I very much doubt it's remotely cold (anything below 20 degrees is cold to her!).

Is good to see you back ajm. How is the PND now?

Glad to hear that you had a lovely time at the museums ronshar.

Whatcha cooking myjob? When you're a family of 4 it's so easy to get up to cooking for 10 or more isn't it? We had friends stay for dinner unexpectedly last week, and they have 2 children, so that meant 8 of us without us even batting an eyelid!

Had homemade coconut cake today made with courgette - was incredibly yum.

CantSleepWontSleep · 08/08/2009 22:19

Bugger. Apparently both of dd's ears hurt. It must be VERY bad because she's apparently agreeing to take medicine, and she NEVER takes medicine. Let's hope that they don't both have ear infections. That's all we need on a Sunday with no doctors open.

CantSleepWontSleep · 08/08/2009 22:43

She didn't take the medicine .
And she's been down again. And she claimed that her ear didn't hurt. And then wanted some fruit toast. And had a cuddle. Then said that her ear didn't hurt when she cuddled. And put the toast on the table to cool. And then walked off to bed. And then came back to reclaim daddy. It's going to be a long night!

CantSleepWontSleep · 09/08/2009 07:46

Did I bore you all to sleep?
She took some calpol in the end (because I pinned her down), but still moaned for a good whilst afterwards. This morning she says that it doesn't hurt as much, but that we all have funny voices, so I'm wondering if her ear drum has burst, although no sign of any gunk coming out .
Ds up for 45 mins for a feed because he wouldn't resettle again, and up for the day at 6.
I'm knackered!

star6 · 09/08/2009 07:49

Sounds like an awful night, csws
Q is now practicing for me to go back to work and waking at 5.30am. So sweet of him
I'm actually quite because dh will have him for 3 weeks after I go back.... so instead of the 5am wake then going back until 8.30/8.45 pattern he got into this summer for a while, he'll be up for the day with him at 5.30am
ha!

s'quiet on here isn't it?
Am still feeling like just going back to bed for a couple of hours, but we're off to a 40th b'day party in a pub in a bit, so no such luck. Wonder if I could just fall asleep on the way and get dh to leave me in the car for a nap .

pepperrabbit · 09/08/2009 15:06

Hello all
I wasn't being all enigmatic, ,my computer broke within 10 minutes of my post about returning from holiday! Absolutely kicked up it's legs and died . Took me till Fri to persuade DH to get us anew one... ANyhow, online again, hurray!
Hope evryone's well (sorry for crap typing, still have wrist in splint thing after 10 weeks...)
WE had a tricky time in Devon with the in laws, it's Dhs dad and step mum - I am soooo lucky having 2 MILs - not.
SMIL is perhaps bipolar we agreed. She was fine until one of their horrid dogs barked at DS2 and he spilt his milk in the lounge (my fault apparently) and then didn't speak to us. I don't know if you've ever been the guest of someone who isn't talking to you, but it's pretty miserable and bloody hard work.
The barn was actually ok, FIL had built a bathroom! Yay! it was fab, barn still quite barny though, spiders, musty. dark etc and all 5 of us sharing the same space meant I got no sleep. DS2 kept trying to fall out of bed onto concrete floor. DD had no idea where she was a nd didn't settle and DH drank so much eveery night he snored and snored and snored.
2 days on the beach in rain. under a windbreak eating soggu sandwiches but without the ILs was a highlight.
Then it took us over 7 hours to drive back...
There, whinge over...

star6 · 09/08/2009 19:12

oh pepper! I've been waiting to hear about this barn! I still can't believe it...
about the rain and sleep deprivation. I hope you're able to catch up a bit now you're home?
The silent treatment is SO ridiculous. I hate it when people do this. It reminds me of being a teenager.

csws - yes, fall asleep in the car and pretend you can't wake up

myjob good luck tonight

I hope you've finished that essay and remembered to feed the DC pistachio

Better day today. Bit of a rough start but all smoothed out after a while... Q didn't nap much so went down for sleep almost willingly tonight really - he pointed to his cot.. ha!
He doesn't "point" always... sometimes he puts out his pointer finger, but he mostly jets an arm out next to his face like superman and holds in in the position of where he wants to go. Really quite funny actually. it took us a while to figure out he was actually pointing to something and not acting like superman we just imitated him for a while and laughed

Q is still taking one or two steps on his own then carefully lowering himself to the ground and crawling again and cruising, walking w/walker, with one adult finger...etc. I don't think he'll walk before I go back to work

CantSleepWontSleep · 09/08/2009 19:54

Glad you had such a lovely time pepper .

When do you go back to work star?

star6 · 09/08/2009 20:01

Next Thurs for just meetings, setting up, professional development...etc. Kids go back on 25th I think. Just a week and a bit before DH goes back... but I've been off since mid-june, so I can't complain

Luckily I'll be able to have Q at work sometimes when I first go back as no kids at school yet, and DH will be home with him until 2nd September. And there's that bank holiday, too! yay! Looking forward to seeing people again, though - we have a very lovely tight knit community at our school and most people are away at home overseas in the summer.

at next Thurs. I mean I know that you broke up before we did, but going to school in August is just plain wrong! And it means that you're not going to make it up for a day at mine either.

Yay for lovely dinner myjob. Menu sounded fab.

star6 · 09/08/2009 20:28

Only teachers csws. Kids not until 25th. I have October half term a week before everyone else so I could visit then

Honeymoonmummy · 09/08/2009 22:09

Hi all, I'm sorry not been on much last few days and I've not read back, had Poppy's christening today so have been busy for that. Had a lovely day, will tell more tomorrow. i'm off for a hard-earned glass of red!

Marthasmama · 09/08/2009 22:31

CSWS - How near are you to Berkhamsted? (if that's how you spell it ) We have a good friend who lives there and he has suggested meeting for a visit to Whipsnade zoo, which I thought you had mentioned. If you are near, it really isn't that far for us!

I haven't been on here over the weekend as M has been a total nightmare and I've been sorting out my new Macbook. M is sooooo grumpy and tantrumy. She has been into everything and throws big wobblers if she doesn't get what she wants. She even stamped on my leg in anger when I wouldn't let her do something she wanted to do.

Pepper - Your holiday was hardly a holiday then? Poor DS2 but naughty DH. Sounds like my DH, totally inconsiderate.

I will catch up with everyone else now......

Honeymoonmummy · 10/08/2009 08:19

Hey all, what bowls are you all using for feeding now? CSWS, I seem to recall you saying the slip resistant ones were rubbish? She's taking the spoon out of the bowl but I have to hold the bowl and am not sure how to proceed to the next level.

CantSleepWontSleep · 10/08/2009 09:01

We don't use bowls hmm - food goes directly on high chair tray.

Berky about 40 mins away mm, but Whipsnade is closer than that, and we all have annual passes.

Marthasmama · 10/08/2009 09:55

Same as CSWS, straight on the tray. If we even try a bowl (for example at my mum's) M screams until we let her have the bowl, which she then tips up, shakes and throws on the floor!

CSWS - My geography is so rubbish I keep thinking you live miles and miles away. I don't think you're actually that far! Which also means that it shouldn't be too far for Star, Rachie and Aubergenie too!
