I'm going to start a Warwick Castle discussion on FB so we can make meeting arrangements away from the view of the world. Particularly important for Jenwa at the moment.

I found a picture of DH and M at the NCT Teddy Bear's picnic. If you look here, at the back top right corner there is my giant baby girl not doing baby yoga!

Hello

pf so sorry about you and your DH I hope you are ok, you sound positive though and seem to have good friends. I hope things work out the way you want them too.

mm thank you re group on FB and cant wait to meet you.

I am feeling rather odd! I went in to town and felt panicky! I am a little shaky too! Maybe the AD's? I know that I went in looking for something to wear into town in afew weeks as my friends are taking me out and I know I have a body complex and actually worried about what to wear etc and also panicking about going out that night now! Stupid I know!

RachieW · 05/08/2009 15:33

Hi all- just a quick hello. Have my parents staying at the moment but they've gone into town as J and I were meeting friends at the local soft play session. J had a massive tantrum in the baby change and wouldn't let me put a nappy on. So awful, I was at a loss what to do. It fleetingly crossed my mind to smack his leg which I didn't thank god and now feel terrible for even thinking it I just got in a bit of a state as I was trapped in this little room with a child who wouldn't do anything but roll around screaming. Is it normal for 9month olds to have tantrums, it def was- real angry screaming.

PF so sorry to hear about that, I'm glad you've got good support around you. Take your time and don't be rushed into any decisions about your future xx

Sorry have forgotten everything everyone else said apart from the trip to Warwick, am so

Right off to unpack the shopping before the beast awakes.

jenwa · 05/08/2009 15:35

mm my Dh would not go to baby yoga your dh is very good!

RachieW · 05/08/2009 15:37

MM- like the pic, especially M not complying to yoga

Jenwa- sounds a bit like a panic attack/anxiety. It's probably due to everything you've got going on at the moment and that nasty experience the other week. I'm not sure what to advise, hopefully it's a one off? Does it say anything on the leaflet with the ADs in possible side effects?

Marthasmama · 05/08/2009 16:38

Jenwa - Rachie is right. The panic attacks will be as a result of everything getting on top of you. The strange man will have been the final nail in the coffin. You will get better though. Don't push yourself too hard and definitely don't force yourself to do anything you're not comfortable with, like going out for the evening. A good friend of mine had a really hard time at work which ended up in a senior manager bullying her. She had a mini breakdown from all the pressure and started having panic attacks. The idea of going out anywhere made her feel sick. That was 2 years ago. This year she is trekking up Everest for her birthday in November. Be kind to yourself.

Yes DH is very good at all those sorts of things bless him.

Rachie - Oh yes it is totally normal for them to have tantrums at this age! They are just starting to get some independence and so get frustrated when they are stopped from doing what they want. M has mini melt downs all the time (about t10/15 a day at the moment) but DS started having rolling on the floor, arching he back tantrums at 9 months. It's just a demonstration of the joys to come.... The best thing to do when they have a tantrum is give them a cuddle or distract them in some way. A tantrum is about lose of control and can be really scary for them. When DS threw wobblers DH and I had very different approaches. I cuddled him and talked to him calmly, DH shouted at him....guess which method was most effective.

Thanks MM- feel better knowing it's normal at this age. I stupidly thought they'd come when he was around 2 but I guess this is like a little pre-warning I'm going to try the very calm approach, he did the same yesterday and I just let him be naked and cuddle him and then he crawled off and wee'd on the floor. Today was so hard though as we were in the baby change with one of those fold down mats and a tiled floor.

RachieW · 05/08/2009 16:56

Pistachio- I love your honesty and I think your parenting skills are fab I bounce up and down sometimes and flap my arms too, so glad I'm not alone.

Marthasmama · 05/08/2009 16:58

Rachie - Obviously he was going to kick off when it was the most dangerous time for him to do so! There really isn't much you can do in that situation is there? I second Pistachio, don't feel guilty. If I felt guilty every time I felt like smacking either of my two I would probably feel little else!

Ok ladies..... which coat?:

This one or

this one (which looks much cuter in real life than in this photo).....

Hmmmm..... I'll just see if they are machine washable....

OP posts:
Marthasmama · 05/08/2009 17:31

Argh! They're both dry clean only.

I took one back to Next because it was dry clean only. It seems ridiculous to have a coat for a small child that's dry clean only. It would need dry cleaning once a week! I found one on the Debenhams website but it's pale pink.....not sure about pale pink on a dark haired girl. Hrumph! I also need to find a nice winter coat for DS but I hate puffa type coats. Demanding? Me?

I can't believe how much M loves the sodding Tombliboos! She's only seen them twice and it's love.

Thank you all, I am looking forward to seeing my friends, they have cheered me up today and made me laugh, its the pressure of being out and not hearing stuff I think. was very weird today though in town. Luckily I bumped into my mum who took me for coffee

pistachio you have not bad parenting skills and like the others ove your honesty, you make me laugh.

rachie its always worse when they have a tantrm away from home when you trying to do something and have no hands free, especially when there is a nappy involved too! I think its the fear of them weeing or pooing over themselves and falling off the nappy change etc. They dont like being pinned down at this age, its a nightmare. P wants to roll all the time but I let her play with the wet wipes or a nappy bag or something she porbably should not have

myjob I hope your DS goes to sleep soon

M isn't asleep either. She is a naughty naughty girl. She is knackered again but she won't give in. GRRRRR! I am so frustrated with her. This is becoming a habit and I don't think I can cope if we lose our evenings. I have left her too it for the time being. She isn't crying but I can almost guarantee that she is sitting or standing in her cot, monkeying about. No birthday presents for her. Ahhh, here we go with the crying.

I did look for Myjob but couldn't find anything suitable. I saw those dungarees though and wondered if you'd like them!

CSWS - I don't think I could handle watching Torchwood. From what I saw it looked traumatic!

OP posts:
CantSleepWontSleep · 05/08/2009 23:08

yes it was quite traumatic. All finished now though. Bedtime.

Honeymoonmummy · 05/08/2009 23:27

Hi all, I've had a crap day overall, my brother isn't coming to the christening cos he's a little shit working. I can't be bothered to go into it but I'm pissed off. On a better note took Poppy for her first picnic today, she had her first sandwiches (tuna cheese and cucumber) and loved them. Gave her first raw carrot too! (not that it got eaten)

I'm gonna start another FB thread about discipline cos I don't know when to start or how.

Can't sleep

sorry jenwa to hear about your panic attack and Rachie about the tantrum. Poppy has started to kick off if she doesn;t get her own way (which usually involves her being able to pull herself up to standing). She's started trying to stand unaided now!
