she'd just spilled milk everywhere.....

Can you tell from my last post that I got in from our lovely day out and the fairies hadn't done the washing up, unloaded the washing machine, put away the toys or folded the clothes

Just had a call from dh to say that the people who are supposed to be coming to lay a wood floor in our sitting room on Mon/Tue next week have double booked us, so they want to come in on Saturday.... Aaargh! We're out tomorrow at Marwell Zoo, so I think we'll be up late clearing furniture! Still, I'll be glad to see the last of this nasty carpet, we got it cleaned when we moved in but its still really grim.

It was lovely to see you today CSWS and Star - your little boys are absolutely gorgeous! I can't believe how big they seem (or how small M seems compared to them, bless him)

Rachie, sorry we didn't meet you today. I hope that you have worked things through a bit with your dh and it all starts improving.

Lovely to meet Ekka today and lovely to see Csws again. M is so lovely and little. And D's hair keeps getting cooler as time passes. If Q had that hair, I don't think I'd ever cut it

Q is now sleeping even after a 2 hour nap once we got home. Poor thing was so tired at the farm but I think maybe he just doesn't want to miss anything (??) It's the only reason I can think of that he now won't sleep so easily when out and about in the pushchair...

DH is making a delicious dinner... he's trying to be nicer and show he cares more... we'll see. We had a loooong talk last night and I was glad to get some stuff out. It took a lot of forcing him to talk and he played a video game on his computer the whole time but he did at least open up a bit and talk some more than usual. He just hates big conversations like that. (he kept telling me). I think he doesn't like to hear things that I'm unhappy about with him. He tends to exagerrate "all you ever do is complain about me" (NOT TRUE at all). He's just a child. So immature and can't handle being a grown up I think. He's a fantastic Dad to Q, but I keep telling him that part of being a good dad is being a good husband to Q's mommy, too... modeling a healthy relationship.
He also told me that I take things too far - like every time we have an argument I htink it's the end of the world... which is sort of true, I guess... I'm not used to arguing and negative feelings and very sensitive. But I think that was something he said to make me think more about what I'm doing and less about him...
He called me a very mean name
But has now apologized.
Today is a better day - perhaps because I was out for most of it

Marthasmama · 30/07/2009 20:40

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I just did a long post all about naughty husbands and shopping etc etc, then it just disappeared. I will post it all again later but I really can't muster the will to do it right now. Off to look at the pictures on FB.

Awwww, looks like you had a lovely time. M would have been in her element with all those lovely boys. I am a bit worried about M meeting the boys as I think she's going to be as big them. My little lady is no dainty creature bless her.

Thanks all for your lovely messages. Ksal you are so right, he did come back which I didn't really appreciate at the time. We've actually had a good day in the end, things are going to take a while to be better but today was a good start. We did take J swimming which was fun as dh is always paranoid about looking fat (he doesn't) in trunks so this was the first time he'd been with us. He really enjoyed it and whats to do it more regularly

I think the thing that gets me down about the house related stuff is that before J we were a real team, we'd both cook, clean up etc. Now it feels like it's just down to me. If I was at home doing nothing I'd be happy to do it all but looking after J is a full time job too.

We also need to make more time for ourselves and the three of us as a family. It seems there is always something going on at the w/e, family/friends to visit etc so we end up rushing about and not spending time just enjoying our life. Today was good because we took it so easy and got to just enjoy J and what a monkey he is.

I am so glad you had a good time at Godstone and still very sad I missed you all. The pics look great and the babies look like they had a fab time.

Star- we def need to meet for chats! Maybe we could live in some kind of mn commune house and leave the dh's to get along alone?

Ekka- Hope moving furniture doesn't take too long!

jenwa · 30/07/2009 21:23

hehe liking the idea of a mn house can I come too

Sounds like men and housework and tears are the topic this month, me off course being involved in them too Maybe a future thread title although hopefully we will all be better again soon. pistachio sorry you felt like that today, you obvioulsy needed to get it out your system. Your purpose is a great mummy I have been feeling the same, although I keep cleaning and it still looks a mess so I think its about time the cleaning stopped and we just played all day with the children instead
Star glad you and youd Dh had a good chat. It seems though that although he does not like arguing he also does not like you getting upset as he tells you that you think its the end of the world, he no doubt wants the argument to end rather like my DH would and any further talk or tears means we have not fogotten it, I think they think once they have said their bit or apologised we should carry on smiling again and be happy. Sometimes a hug would be appreciated and for them to listen to us!
rachie glad you had a nice day today. Glad your Dh enjoyed the swimming too. It is hard work and I think the men feel that because we are at home all day we can do everything, they just dont always realise what it is like. More family time though sounds good, takes some pressure off you both.

ah there is life here!

jenwa · 30/07/2009 22:07

Actually thought you may have all gone to a secret thread hehe!

Marthasmama · 30/07/2009 22:09

I am super tired tonight and spent ages write a post that fell off the laptop so I have lost the will to type now.

I made a lovely cake today for DS's birthday tomorrow. Can't believe my baby boy is 6 tomorrow. [old]

Marthasmama · 30/07/2009 22:10

See...so tired I put write instead of writing and said tomorrow twice.

OP posts:
jenwa · 30/07/2009 22:11

Ah bless, you should go to bed!
I bet 6yrs has gone super quick. What cake did you make and were you up to baking? Are you feeling ok?

Marthasmama · 30/07/2009 22:14

I am feeling really well thanks Jenwa. I did a lot of resting so that I would be ok for my shopping trip! Have to get my priorities straight. My mum helped me with the cake. It a chocolate sponge cake with chocolate cream cheese icing in the middle and butter cream icing on the top, lovingly decorated with smarties, white buttons and rolos by ds. Now, do I let M have a little taste or stick to my guns......?

OP posts:
jenwa · 30/07/2009 22:20

yummy, If you dont give to M can I have I have given P some chocolate, but only afew times (jaffa cake). Maybe because its Ds's b'day she could have a teeny bit, if you left it somewhere she could accidentally help herself then you would not be to blame

Marthasmama · 30/07/2009 22:23

M hasn't had any chocolate yet so I am unsure. I don't wnat to create a monster. She went crazy when she managed to get hold of a bit of mum's cinnamon pastry. She licked the plate!

OP posts:
jenwa · 31/07/2009 08:09

mm Ah bless her, She wont be a monster, you wont let her

Just noticed on FB its csws b'day tomorrow. Any plans csws?

My parents coming over today to help in the garden so hope weather stays nice. Got to try staying off computer for bit too as headaches bad so going to see if computer is contributing! I have to limit it now!

RachieW · 31/07/2009 09:14

staying off the computer Jenwa? That's but I guess it will help your headaches. Good luck with gardening

Feeling much better this morning, ds slept really really well so I've had a proper nights sleep and dh went to work without an argument. I did end up tidying upstairs yesterday as to be honest it was annoying me too living in a pig sty, didn't bother with the bathroom though. When we went to bed last night dh commented on how tidy upstairs looked and how shiny the bathroom looked

MM- Happy birthday to your ds! Your cake sounds lovely. I've let J suck a chocolate finger, eat a white chocolate button and taste a few ice creams so I would say let M have a tiny taste, but then I'm a baaad mummy

We're off to the soft play session today and then to MIL work to pick up her maclaren buggy to borrow for the wedding tomorrow. I spoke to her last night and she said she'd call me on sunday morning to see if I minded ds going to her brothers as she can remember it's hard to leave them overnight at first. See she is kind hearted and never wants to offend, she just goes about things in the wrong order and annoying me Anyway told her I would probably be fine but will speak to her on Sunday morning. It would probably be good for me and dh to spend sometime together alone after this week anyway.

Right better get on with things.

CantSleepWontSleep · 31/07/2009 10:35

no jenwa. I was hoping that dh would organise something nice, but he hasn't. I was also hoping that he'd bake me a cake whilst I was out yesterday, but there's no sign of him having done so. Will prob just be a normal miserable rainy sat.

Happy birthday to your ds mm.

star6 · 31/07/2009 10:52

Happy Birthday to you CSWS just in case I don't get on tomorrow!! I hope you have a great day, even if it's rainy!

star6 · 31/07/2009 10:59

Sorry... I meant to say... Happy 21st birthday tomorrow csws . I'll be 21, too in October, the day after Q's birthday

Marthasmama · 31/07/2009 11:23

Awww CSWS - I never have a fuss made of me any more either. I have to buy my own birthday cake these days. I always pretend not to mind but I do mind. We mums do soooooo much, it shouldn't be too much to ask for one day of being fussed and pampered. I really hope they surprise you tomorrow.

DS is out with DH and M. They are going bowling with a couple of DS's mates and then going to the pub for lunch. How much of an old man is ds? He is having a sleepover party in a couple weeks but for today his plan was.... Bowling in the morning and then to the pub for lunch, back here to play computer games until his friend's mum collects him, then he wants to have Thai and watch a film with family. Bless him.
