LadyThompson · 21/07/2009 20:53

Ok, I have posted on Fatties and I will link in case anyone wants to join me Fatties

Kayzr · 21/07/2009 20:54

Yeah i have too. Bloody baby weight.

pmk1 · 21/07/2009 21:02

Effie we will be sort of Windsor/Maidenhead area if you know it? It's a 25 min train to London Paddo so meet up, can do....
Those train fares aren't cheap Lady - do you have a season ticket as you do that trip a lot it seems?

LadyThompson · 21/07/2009 21:12

It's £27 return from Charlbury to Paddington off peak.

But if I go from Oxford instead and book in advance on www.thetrainline.com (not too far in advance - a couple of days!) you can get fares for £4 each way. 'Tis great. Whether they would do similar from Reading I don't know.

traceface · 21/07/2009 21:22

evening.
Sorry to disappoint but the interview is tomorrow! I'll feedback as soon as I can...
I'm actually feeling quite rubbish - physically Nothing specific but still fuzzy and so very tired. i keep feeling quite faint and now feeling rather nauseous too since yesterday. I can't decide whether I'm feeling crap because my body has finally decided that after 7 months it needs some sleep, or whether I have some kind of virus which is making me feel so tired, or whether it's even related to nerves for the interview. Whatever it is I don't like it because I don't feel myself. I do feel nervous for tomorrow because I've only had 2 interviews before - both in the same place, one for a promotion - and the last one was a few years ago, so I'm working myself up a little. Must chill. I just spent ages doing the forms for Occ Health and CRB which I'd left till now and clearly should not have left till the night before. I'm supposed to provide lab evidence of some of my vaccinations, which I don't now have. oops. Also you wouldn't believe how many boxes I had to tick to admit my whole PND thing. Yes I've had a mental illness, yes I've had counselling, yes I'm on antidepressants, yes treatment is ongoing, yes I've had to be seen by Occ Health before, yes I've had limitations on my working conditions, yes I'm a head case who wishes they hadn't had PND so could fly through the stupid form instead. Grrrrr. Sorry.
Anyway. lal - so sorry you're poorly. Chin up. Hopefully it will be short lived. Poor you.
WG - P went from weeks of eating only a few mouthfuls of puree then turning her head away - to full on Phat-Phoeb within the last week. It's only a few weeks since I said how worried i was that she would barely eat - and she even refused completely for a few days - and today she was not satisfied with a bowl of sausage casserole- she had to have a bonus bowl of lasagne too! And a chunk of french bread which she gummed to death! SO I think it's another of those things that they'll do in their own time. It's swings and roundabouts - P will not even think about putting any weight through her legs when I hold her in the standing position, and she remains virtually silent - so perhaps her and madam could teach each other a few things! Glad you got a few hours respite and recuperation
Paris - sounds fun - but not a chance here I'm afraid! Even if I had the pennies I know I'd never be brave enough. I'm in absolute awe of all you who have been on foreign holidays with LOs. Seriously. We've still not been further than Manchester with P and are summer plans are probably camping somewhere within a 2 hour radius! TBH dh and I have never been abroad together and we've been married nearly 10 years - we tend to stay on home turf. The idea of travelling a long way really worries me. But Tilly another Yorkshire meet-up sounds right up my street! Let me know your dates and I'm sure we'll be around.
Phoebe drank 3.5oz water today from her bottle. Still goes mental if we put milk in it though!
Veggie - thank you so much for the advice.
Well I must go to bed although some nights there really does seem little point.

sybilfaulty · 21/07/2009 22:45

Good luck for tomorrow my lovely trace. I'll be thinking of you (Gawd, i sound like the ghastly granny murray. At least I am not clad in cheery brights with a tailor's dummy in the sitting room)

Off to fatties thread now. If I can fit through the door

EffiePerine · 22/07/2009 07:34

Godd luck for today Trace, will be thinking of you and sending loads of positive vibes . Just think that they're unlikely to spend all this time and money on interviewing you unless they really think you can do the job - and you can

Must look at fatties thread, maybe not on the day I've breakfasted on pancakes and maple syrup . DH is also getting concerned about the pounds and is going for daily bike rides, so maybe that'll motivate me. Hmm.

Kayzr · 22/07/2009 07:38

Trace Good luck!! Will be thinking of you all day!!

DS2 slept from 11 until 10 to 6 last night so at least there was no 3am waking.

pmk1 · 22/07/2009 07:42

somehow I missed about 5 or 6 posts i've only read now! Lady my dh loves projects like you describe. His specialty is burning the candle at both ends too! He would be so jealous as he's dying for us to have our own place to fix up again, however we can't unitl our flat sells and it's off the market now, so no chance of that for at least 12 months. And his bro, well he's looking for work in Sept so you never know!
The place we are moving to is a house with a much bigger garden for the ddog. Just one bathroom (we have been spoilt with 2 now) however ds will have his own room though which will be great, and there's parking and a very nice cheerful establishment in walking distance I had a look at that train web site and could see the £4 fares from Oxford but from Maidenhead or Windsor it still came up full fare
Good luck Trace

DS just slept 7-7 without so much as a murmer. Why is it that if he goes to bed at normal time he sleeps great, but if he's not in bed at 7 and we are out somewhere for example and don't get him down properly until later he wakes all night??

tillyfernackerpants · 22/07/2009 07:43

Good luck trace loads of positive vibes coming your way

Must go back to fatties thread, like daisy am still doing WW but faltering a little

Shall we start some meet up threads? I would like to do a London one as well as I haven't managed one yet!

pmk glad you've got your house!

Kayzr · 22/07/2009 08:01

Pmk I might take your lead and have DS2 in bed at 7. I am a bit sick of 5am wakings or 3am wakings.

daisydora · 22/07/2009 08:08

DS was in bed at 7 last night, woke at 4 but did settle eventually and went back to sleep till 6am.

trace Good luck!!!! I'll be waiting for news!

Well, I could walk when I got out of bed this morning after my run yesterday. DH has promised to try and get home early so I can go again tonight before we put the DC's to bed. I don't enjoy doing it but do feel good once its over

Today's the day re: redundancy. But seeing as how much I have already been left out of the loop and I am not hopeful I will get told today. I am gooing to give then till 3pm, then ring. People can leave the office from 4pm so I need to catch them before they can claim certian managers have sloped off for the day.

lal07 · 22/07/2009 09:27

Good luck trace. Still house of ill here. But to say am thinking of you and wishing you all the very best. I would love it if you were my DC's school nurse...

Also daisy hope you get answer you want later.

pmk1 · 22/07/2009 09:33

yeah Kayz, bit of a wierd one, but i've found that more than once, if i've been out past 7pm (his bedtime) and even if he falls asleep in the carseat or buggy while I'm out, then have to do all the transferring etc to cot and change nappy before finally down in the cot, I would have thought he would be dead tired and sleep solidly, but it never fails to be an unsettled night in that case and I have no idea why.

Veggiemummy · 22/07/2009 09:44

Morning ladies it's DS1's last day of school today and they are doing one of those Toddles for Banardos. So I've popped DS2 down for a sleep and quickly having a coffee before going back to watch, afterwards they are going to a have a little non competitive sports day (Montessori don't do competitive sports) then lunch then home and 2 of his little friends are coming over for a play. I read the letter about today properly last night and it says to bring lunch for your child and something for everyone to share for the picnic, aaaahhhhh of course I think they mean cakes and things but I've no inclination (ds2 up again last night with sore teeth) but all I can find is some squeezy yoghurts, homous, olives and a half eaten packet of breadsticks. I have a lovely melon but one of the other mums who also only just noticed the share thing is bringing a melon.

Trace all the best for today, I would want you on my team. If it helps they need you more than you need them, you already have a job and your just soooooo perfect for the job. Basically you are all you can you have good depth of experience, not just at work but also as a mum and a patient, one of your fantastic strengths is clear communication abilities (that was badly expressed sorry sleepy) and you have very good abilities to empathize. It's up to them as to whether they believe this is what they want for the job. You are in no way lacking it just depends if the job needs your skills and abilities. I hope you are feeling ok by the time the interview comes around. I'm sure you will get there early if you do find a quiet spot and take a moment to settle yourself and pray it sil calm you for the interview.

Daisy, you were also into your swimming weren't you. If you are finding the running not much fun but you want to do it see if you can join a beginners running group or instead of just going straight out and running do run walk sessions. You could start off with 5 mins run with a 2 minute walk then do that three times as you start feint fitter you can extend the runs and reduce the walks and even do more reps of the run/walk combo. People who start off doing this tend to be less likely to injure and more likely to continue running longterm. I know a girl who started that way and she now does regular marathons with a PB of 3hrs 48mins.

Pmk I bet DH is looking forward to cycling around that area. I did my first triathlon in Windsor, years ago.

Veggiemummy · 22/07/2009 09:49

Oh and was thinking of coming to York for that DIG museum thing so maybe we can coordinate Tilly. DH is in Rotherhim (sp that's how everyone pronounces it) is that in Yorkshire. He is commuting because it's just over an hour on the train but everyday so far the train is running late so he misses his connecting train at Sheffield and is late.

daisydora · 22/07/2009 09:50

veggie I'm going to the park tonight, so will try the run/walk thing. I did it before when I was a lot fitter and it does help to build you up. I stopped swimming as I couldn't afford both pool membership and my monthly WW pass. But I love the WW meetings, such laugh. Plus running is free!

spotofcheerfulness · 22/07/2009 09:52

Morning all, best of luck Trace, hope it goes really well .

LadyT, I think the house sounds like a fantastic project and something to really get your teeth into. Imagine the satisfaction you'll have when it's all done to your tastes and your and your DP can look at it and know just what you've put into it. And am v pleased for you re-the IR situation.

Glad things are working out on the house front for you too, PMK, a big garden sounds perfect and will be really lovely for DS next summer when he'll be charging around.

Daisy, am v impressed with your running, and the fact you're going again tonight! I hope you catch your manager before they skive off go for an important meeting later in the day.

Hi Effie, sorry to hear things are still a bit mixed on the TT front, but great news your DS2 has such a great appetite! It seems to be a bit of a common theme here - do people with two of more DCs tend to have better eaters second time round or am I just reading stuff into that? And if so, what would you put it down to?

Eating here is v hit and miss, and certain foods seem to really mess up his digestive system (gave him a jar of cottage pie yesterday and he had really bad trapped wind and pooed himself silly for the rest of the day). Would echo Trace in that he seems to have phases of eating loads and then absolutely nothing and seems at least not to be fading away so will try and relax on that front. It's hard though when you see these "ideal" baby menus (damn you Annabel Karmel!) and realise that your child has eaten a quarter of what is recommended and mainly from the "yoghurt and carpet dust" food group.

Had a really nice night last night - went out for pub quiz with my friends - followed by night from hell as had to go up to T no less than 20 times from 3am to turn him over. Tried the wedging pillows trick but he just gets cross with that and cries and will only settle when he can kick around. So feeling really tiredy mc tired today, but the bonus is that I have been able to post here today as he's just been sleeping for an hour [unheard of emoticon] in his cot.

Sorry to hear you're still all poorly Lal and hope you and all the Kimberley family are better soon too.

spotofcheerfulness · 22/07/2009 09:54

Sounds like a top picnic to me, Veggie, hope you have a lovely time at the sports day.

artichokes · 22/07/2009 09:57

PMK, KAYZ - both my girls sleep badly if put to bed late. If they are both down by 6.30/7pm then they sleep soundly until 6am (DD2) or 7am (DD1), but if they get over tired because of late bedtimes then they wake really early in the morning. Its counter-intuitive but true (and common amongst many of my firneds' kids too). Mrs SLeep's mantra was "the more they sleep, the better they sleep".

Lal - sorry you are ill. Is it SF? Are you managing OK with your asthma?

Trace - huge good luck vibes being sent your way. I hope your fuzzy head clears. My big tip is to talk slowly and calmly giving yourself time to think.

Daisy - I will be thinking of you too. Let us know when you have news. Sorry you are going through this.

WG - I am so pleased you had a lovely night out. Do not sttress about solids. As others have said its all about tastes at the moment. DD2 has days when she eats for England and other days when she jsut wants milk. She gets very cross about being spoon fed now so she mainly eats finger foods and most of those she throws on the floor. I am really not sure how much goes down (unless its pasta - she hoovers that up and the produces full fusillis in her nappy!).

I am so glad to be in work. The two hours of mothering I managed this morning were shining examples of what not to do. First I fed DD2 in bed while dozing at 6am and then sat her up just in time for her to projectile vomit all over our duvet and pillows. Cue full bed strip and bath for DD2. DD1 woke to all the noise and we made our way own to breakfast. Because she had been woken early DD1 was in a terrible mood and decided to only speak in baby language (drives me crazy). DD2 refused all solids and DD1 regained the power of proper speech enough to tell me to shut-up when I asked her not to put her toast in the washing machine. DD1 was put on time-out in her bedroom while I got DD2 dressed. Cue HUGE tantrum and screaming that caused the neighbours to bang on our walls. I forgot all the tips from "How to Listen" and totally lost it at her. DH took over while I showered and cut both legs with the razor. Then we got back downstairs and I tried to eat my cereal while BFIng DD2 who swung her arm out, upsetting my full bowl of SpecialK all over the sofa and my suit. Cue full suit change and needing to strip the sofa covers. Nearly kissed the nanny when she arrived. I am now happily resting at my desk, eating a croissant and drinking a cappucino and feeling sorry that I only have two more days in the office...

tillyfernackerpants · 22/07/2009 10:05

arti poor you, what a morning! I guess work is more relaxing for you atm

spot glad you had a nice time with your friends, no so much about the rest of it! Is T in a sleeping bag? I just ask as ds2 likes to kick as well, so we put him in a slightly bigger one & tuck it in at the end of the cot. This means he can still lift his legs up & kick but he can't roll over!

kayz ds1 & ds2 both go to bed at 7pm & generally sleep till about 6/6.30am. Like arti & pmk any later & they just get overtired & don't sleep as well

veggie sports day sounds like fun & I think your picnic sounds yummy!

Yorkshire - I'll be up from 26 August, but not sure if I'm staying past the bank holiday or not. Hope that fits in!

spotofcheerfulness · 22/07/2009 10:11

That sounds like a good tip, Tilly, thanks!
Sorry to hear about your morning, arti, hope the coffee and croissant are doing their trick.

pmk1 · 22/07/2009 10:16

oh Arti sorry about your morning - but I did have a chuckle as I could picture it! All that to look forward to when this little angel gets a bit older!
Hi Spot nice to hear from you! yes I'm thrilled about the garden and future barbie situation!
Yeah Veggie, he is happy to be out of London a bit I think, but he's such a typical guy, when I was looking at houses some of them he couldn't view, and he said "I really don't care, as long as you like it just get one, while we are renting, and the house isn't mine, none of them are going to blow my socks off"
I suppose he knows I'm fussier than him so if I like it then he will, so he just google maps the distances for commute to work etc - however tthis house, he did make it to see

pmk1 · 22/07/2009 10:17

Veggie when in Sept are you down this way?

Kayzr · 22/07/2009 10:28

See DS2 is the complete opposite. The earlier he goes to bed the worse he sleeps. When we went out Saturday night Mum put both boys to bed at 8 and DS2 was up at 1am, 3am and 5am. If he goes to bed between 10 and 11 he sleeps until 5.
