Oh Trace that's horrible, that's an aweful lot of sadness for you to be holding at the moment are you ok? It re affirms my belief in how lucky I am to have healthy kids and DH and I are healthy. DH is a bit grumbly because the housing thingy that manages the block our flat in London is a part of is wanting nearly £6000 for repairs and works. It is a lot of money and many of the costs are for things that do not relate to our place but we are lucky because it will be a dent in our savings but for some people who are on pensions etc it will literally be food out of their mouths. Luckily one of our neighbours from down their is questioning every little detail and hoping to reduce it, but we are just lucky that we are healthy and have some money. (still a bit bloody cheeky though).

Trace, what happened to the charity shops, no good gear. I'm going to venture back to donate back the jeans I bought because they no longer fit, hooray! And look for some new ones. The school nurses I worked with and us community nurses wore smart casual. No jeans except on jeans for genes day, but nice tailored trousers (we call them slacks in Australia) and a decent top. In winter we wore 3/4 length sleeves as then the cuffs don't get in the way, in some trusts it's part of the uniform policy to not have cuffs around your wrist. Also closed toed and heeled shoes. They will have a jewellry policy too but you've been on wards recently so will be used to that anyway. Are you getting excited. Annoying that you haven't heard much but I'm not surprised, it's seems that is the norm in the NHS.

Would love to come to the York meetup but one of the school mums is having a picnic tomorrow. Hopefully the weather will hold out.

tillyfernackerpants · 01/09/2009 21:38

veggie, that's a shame you can't make it but hope you have a lovely picnic!

Ds1 has asked that when I go to bed tonight, that I share his with him! He sleeps in a big double bed at my parents & whilst I think he usually likes it, as he's a big boy, he's definitey missing dh so wants to know he's not on his own!

traceface · 01/09/2009 22:27

i'm ok veggie thanks for asking. i just can't imagine having to leave my children behind. it's completely heart breaking.
i've just been to asda and had an urge to buy Baileys. bizarre as i have not drunk alcohol for about 15 years, but anyway i was at the checkout and I got asked for ID and I showed him my driving license and said i'm 32, and he laughed . I guess there's a compliment in there somewhere!
WG - how is this evening going? Fingers crossed for you.
ladyT have you had that meeting with your boss yet?
I wonder how Bisou is these days.
right must go to bed. P keeps waking several times in the night again and I've fed her a few times, because she's been unwell so I feel cruel to not feed her, but she's much better today so I'll try to be a bit stricter. She already woke and cried for 40 mins while I was at asda but did settle for dh.
oh well...

Kayzr · 02/09/2009 06:33

Morning,

Trace So sorry to hear about your friends. Hope the Chemo works for them.

Veggie Glad you have enjoyed your cycling. Dad is coming up next Friday and he is thinking of bringing his bike. He will leave me behind I'm sure of it!!

The boys are at MIL today as we are both at work together this morning. I just hope it doesn't rain on the way there as her car is having its MOT.

Hope you are all well.

P>S we need a new thread. Any ideas?

KiwiPanda · 02/09/2009 08:13

Hello all just popped in to wave from sunny Berlin, hope all is well. BabyPanda is loving having her dad full time, think she actually prefers him to me she certainly seems less grumbly when she's with him!? Anyone else find that???

Trace so sorry about your friends, really hope that the treatment is successful.

sybilfaulty · 02/09/2009 08:30

Hello Kiwi, glad you are having a good time.

Trace, so sorry about your friends. Fingers crossed for a good outcome for them. Work sounds very exciting. Is P doing her settling next week? Sorry, I can't remember.

LadyT, is it your work meeting today? Good luck if so. Remember, you rock and the basket will send dark light to your employers if they don't accede to your (very reasonable) proposals.

PMK, has something happened to put you off posting? It never occurs to me that people cyber stalk, though we know from others on the thread that this sadly is sometimes the case. I hope the move went smoothly and you will be back soon.

Hello veggie, cycle ride sounds amazing. Your energy is an inspiration.

How was your night WG? Am thinking of you, it sounds like an awful situation.

LAst day of the holidays for me. Am having work anxiety dreams, so need to do a bit of something while DD1 glues and sticks. We must do some fun activities as well. DD2 has gone to nursery and it feels so quiet. What will it be like in 2 weeks when I have no children on a wed am?

Hope everyone else is on fine form. I'll try to pop back later. Need to jump in bath now before courier comes to take some work away. Shame it's not finished

tillyfernackerpants · 02/09/2009 08:43

ladyt is your meeting today? Fingers crossed it goes well, am sending lots of positive vibes to you

kiwi enjoying Berlin? Ds2 (and ds1) seem to prefer dh as well, ds2 always cries whenever dh leaves the room, I leave its 'see you later'!

veggie well done on the cycle ride, that was amazing!

Right, must get ready (been saying that for the last hour)!

LadyThompson · 02/09/2009 09:18

Hello girls

Quick me post as I am trying to pack up for London...yes, meeting is this afternoon and I am staying in London until Friday morn and then I have lunch with my Dad and Stepmother as they are coming to the Cotswolds for a few days.

Thank you so much for the good wishes. I'll need 'em!

Sorry for lack of personals - Trace, I am very sorry to hear about your bad news re: friends....that is awful....and I hope the Yorksshire meet up is fun today. Will be posting properly again from next week!

urbanewarrior · 02/09/2009 10:55

chaos here as trying to pack for another trip away. wedding this weekend and yet again in my madness i have decided to take the children on the train. on my own.

trace am so sorry for your friends.

lady t best of luck for today.

syb I know what you mean about when it's quiet. i long for being in the house on my own and then it feels all quiet and empty without them and i'm desperate for them to come back

wg I hope things are getting better for you - have been thinking of you and hoping it's getting better. It will eventually - but I know that's scant consolation when you're that shattered.

Eek DD is rampaging. Better go. Love to all

waitinggirl · 02/09/2009 19:23

hello hello.

trace - that is so sad about your friends. we must count our blessings.

lady t - hope you got a good outcome

thanks for asking about me - last night i had arranged to go out to the theatre, so left madam with dh for the first time since she screamed the house down last time i went out. and hurrah, hurrah, she took the bottle and went down with no problems. i was pretty knackered at the theatre, but it was a fantastic show and i didn't fall asleep. also, i was so tired when i got home that when i woke to feed madam, i went straight back to sleep, so actually had the best sleep i've had all week (despite being up about 4 times between 11.30 and 6.30).

sleep person from the clinic came today. as predicted, she is very well meaning, but isn't the sharpest knife in the block, and claims madam has stumped her in terms of sleep - the only thing she could suggest was using the extra heavy formula to get babies sleeping through the night. i'm not mad on giving madam formula every night (no problems when i go out - can't be bothered to express any more). she also mentioned gradual retreat and left a sheet with me to study. of course, this morning i'm feeling way way better, so the idea of doing cc is horrific. but when we're massively sleep deprived, it seems alluring. we'll see how this evening goes...

jumpjockey · 02/09/2009 19:58

evening all, just a quick one as it's our anniversary today so having a posh dinner in. Just wanted to say LadyT really hope you had a good meeting and things are looking up. WG glad you're feeling cheerier and had a good night at last, hurrah for getting out and about. And Trace, will be keeping your friends in my prayers.

DD has a hideous snotty cold and snoring like a warthog so we may be in baby quarantine for a bit. All the more time for MN...

hugs to you all and see you on the new thread once someone cleverer than me has thought of a name

zoejeanne · 02/09/2009 22:45

What a lovely day DD and I have had today, with Tilly and Jolly. It was great to see them both again, and see how much their little ones have grown (you don?t notice it so much with your own, do you?) and also how much Tilly?s DS1 has grown too, he?s a tall boy now. I think I?ll be taking some parenting tips from Tilly in future, as he is so well behaved and really lovely

How did your meeting go with work LadyT? I?ve been thinking of you and hope they were reasonable. Enjoy the rest of the week and weekend with your family

Veggie well done on the bike ride, I bet you feel so proud of yourself for doing it. I?m proud of you . And talking of bike rides, we?ve got lots of signs round us saying the tour of Britain is passing through soon ? Kayz, is it coming to your neck of the woods? Every time I see one I think of you, as I think it'd interest you

Arti I hope you have lots of fun and rest in Turkey, and great news about your niece

I was so sorry to hear about your friends Trace, and the difficult weekend you had as well. Has your DH got back-to-school-itis? My sister always develops a cold a day or two before the end of the holidays (and IMO Baileys and swearing are perfectly good reactions when saved and used on very special occasions, both never fail to make you feel so much better). I was sorry to miss you today, but hopefully next time?

NJAN and Sybil I found it really interesting (wrong word, can?t think which word I should use, but you know what I mean) to read your thoughts on relationships post children. DH and I aren?t fighting, but we do do the competitive sleep/dirty nappies/whatever thing, and as much as being part of my own family is the very loveliest thing that has ever happened to me, I long for some couple time with DH and to be spontaneous and go for a meal or to the cinema or something and be able to enjoy each others company. We have got a night away booked at the end of this month though, which I?m really excited about, although a little nervous about leaving DD ? I bet all we do is sleep

Glad you survived your DH being away SL. My DD isn?t even trying to pull herself to standing yet, she?s much happier spinning round on her tummy or rocking on all fours

Effie re grandparents and their age ? at our wedding all the Grannies were on the same table. My Gran is deaf as a post and hasn?t heard a thing anyone has said for years, but when DH?s Gran announced she was 84, my Gran quickly piped up with ?I?ll be 90 this year? ? it seems to me she?s not so deaf after all, just happier ignoring us!

PMK how did the move go? (have you moved yet? or is it next weekend?)

I?m pleased to hear you slept well (between waking anyway) last night WG, I hope some of the sleep ladies suggestions work for you. How is tonight going?

Happy anniversary to Jump and M Jump

Veggiemummy · 02/09/2009 23:04

WG that women sounds a useful as tits on a bull! Did she really say that Madam stumped her? She's hardly unusual, my DS1 was pretty much the same. Those extra heavy formulas are just even harder to digest than normal formula if she is really hungry overnight making her feel full with formula won't help as she'll just want to feed more during the day surely. I would just go with what you think. Maybe if your feeling extra tired you could try sleeping in the spare room let DH bring her in for a feed if she wakes, then swap and let DH sleep in the spare room. Then at least every now and then you both get a good night sleep. It must feel good now to know that DH can put her to bed. I remember the first night DH put DS1 to bed (Arsenal V Sheffield united got sooooooo drunk) it felt like we had finally turned a corner. I'm embarrassed to admit he was a little older than madam is now.

Kiwi up until recently I thought DH would make a much better SAHD than I am a SAHM he is much more patient and motivated. But when he had the boys for those days while I cycled he got just as fed up and impatient as I do.

Oh and speaking of night wakings WG ds2 has started it up again so I'll be up with you prob tonight. I think it's just him catching up after the ride. I think it effected my milk for a couple of days, or in general it just put him out being out of routine and not having me around. Either that or he's having a growth spurt, my boobs are certainly catching up whatever it is and I've got quite a cheeky cleavage again. Unfortunately though the funny little feeds he's been having have given me a bit of mastitis but the remedies seem to be sorting it for now.

Happy anniversay JJ and yum on the posh dinner, whose cooking? Hope your snotty warthog doesn't interrupt proceedings.

ZJ very jealous about your meet up glad you had fun though. The tour comes fairly close to here, we watched a bit of it in London last year which was fun.

Trace doesn't Baileys have chocolate in it?

Ocado very kindly gave us a little tub of g&b vanilla ice cream, very yummy.

Morning,

Zoe Glad you had a good time at the meet up. We are coming to York next Saturday to watch the end of that stage. I can't wait as Bradley Wiggins is doing it so hoping to see him and maybe get an autograph!!

We went out last night for a meal with Mum, her dp, my brother and Mums dp's son. It was good fun. Most of the entertainment was provided by DS1 being silly!!

Hope you are all well.

pmk1 · 03/09/2009 08:56

Hello all! Thanks for the thoughts, no I'm here just no internet for a couple of weeks so on my phone! Have moved but the house is a shambles with stuff everywhere! I need organisation and at the moment it couldn't be further from that! I hate moving! Sky and BT taking there sweet time as usual.I am lost without sky and the internet! How do any of you survive with terrestrial TV only? So is Ds he desperately misses baby first channel! He is crawling now and has already taken a tumble off the couch amongst the chaos so has a graze on his nose he has slept great in his own room! A solid 12 hours every night so far not a peep! He is having s growth spurt I think as he is wolfing down so much this last week. I am worried about the heating situation here though as its single glazed and already feels cooler than the last place. What do all your DCs sleep in?
Sorry to hear all the Dh stresses.luckily Dh and I r ok,though I know we have a very good baby. I just have issue with him watching ds as he does some really careless things at times so it makes me worry when he has to watch him, and I often find myself sorting Ds out so there's no feeding or changing to do before I go anywhere - bad isn't it?
Lady how did the meeting go?
Ok will try and post now and hope it doesn't post a million times!

JollyBear · 03/09/2009 09:23

Hello everyone,

We're nearly run out of room on the thread, anyone got any bright ideas for a new title?

It was lovely to see zoe and tilly and their DCs yesterday, the train museum was really good fun! We'll have to do it again very soon.

When I arrived at the train station I approached a bench too late to see that the man sat there was drinking a can of strong lager. It was too late to turn back without it being very obvious that I didn't like the look of him, so I sat down and DD sat and stared at him for ages. She then said the most clear "mama" still staring right at him . The man chuckled heartily, well he was tanked up on strong lager!

trace So sorry to hear about your friends, very sad indeed.

Well done on being IDed . DH was refused sale of wine because I was with him and looked underage. I was very .

How did the meeting go ladyT? Hope you don't need Plan B after all.

WG That HV sounds useless. I'm sure you have but have you done all the shush/pat, NCSS techniques? CC needs you to be really sure it is for you before you start from what I've read. Veggie's suggestion sounds good about sleeping in the spare room. I wish I could help as no sleep is just awful.

Well our ceiling is leaking in our extension . I'm catching it in a pan at the moment and crossing my fingers it will stop. At my parents the dining room ceiling fell down after my younger brother flushed a blocked toilet . That was one of the only times I've heard my mum swear, "it isn't just water, it's dirty, shitty water". It was hard not to laugh at the time!!

Anyway, I'm hoping the ceiling isn't that wet!! Have good days all.

tillyfernackerpants · 03/09/2009 09:24

morning,

zj/jolly really nice to see you both yesterday, sorry you were following the 3yr old around . And zj it was really sweet what you said about ds1, thank you

wg that woman sounds like neither use nor ornament! How did last night go?

jump happy anniversary, hope you & mrjump had a lovely dinner

Must go & find somewhere we can go to keep ds1 entertained today, he's woken up full of beans!

KiwiPanda · 03/09/2009 19:33

jumpjockey just noticed your anniversary was yesterday - me too! How many years? Cos we're in Berlin we couldn't go out in the vening but a friend who lives here is going to babysit for us next week so we can. Hope you had a lovely evening.

spiggy · 03/09/2009 19:48

I'm back!!! It took forever to get the broadband up and running at the new house so am miles behind! Indith, how did your move go? Hope it was smoother than ours- hot water system broke on our 2nd night which involved hot water pouring through the ceiling in DD's room (luckily she wasn't in there at the time). Now we have the electricians rewiring so random floorboards are up throughout the house and plaster chipped off the walls.

Right off to catch up with what you have all been up to...will be around a bit more regularly hopefully.
