Wow Spiggy your DS might be able to save ladies a fortune on pregnancy tests.

I am never going to be able to drive. I have just been out with mum and we went on the main road and I stalled at the roundabout. I then went to 30mph and I was terrified. I broke down in tears. Not going to give up but I was so scared.

LadyThompson · 24/07/2009 20:21

My friend had a little boy this morning, em cs (or rather his girlfriend did) and to my amazement it has made me a bit wistful...

But I am FAR too fat to ttc. Strictly NONE of that until I am a normal(ish) size.

Invis, enjoy your DH!

Arti - I too am of your hangover as I am still on the wagon (one week now...and counting)

Daisy, I am SO glad you are sorted. It sounds like the right thing for you as you are planning to retrain. I am so upset with my work. It just feels so personal

Indith - spinach I think your DD needs to teach mine a thing or two...

Have fun at your dinner Sybs. Slightly 'fuxxy' headed sounds good.

Have good weekends all. Was planning a virtuous weekend of work, diet food and nipping to London to collect some junk from the office (I have to go when the accountant is in tomorrow as they have changed the locks ) but we have been invited to Shropshire last minute and I am very tempted to go there: a weekend with DP and jolly friends seems most appealing.

LadyThompson · 24/07/2009 20:24

Cross posted - thank you very much Spiggy We love it but lots of people seem to think it's awful - but it suits the little empress.

Kayz - do not fret and do not give up. Believe me, I know. It is very very early days and it takes ages not to feel strange. Bet you will pass your test before me

tillyfernackerpants · 24/07/2009 20:46

ladyt are you still taking lessons? Funny you say about feeling broody, me too. I was adamant I wasn't going to have another but there are doubts creeping in....

kayz I've been driving for a few years & still get scared if I have to go over 30mph! It does get easier though

sybil enjoy your night out!

Invis as Ladyt says, enjoy your dh!

So ds's asleep, dh gone on his stag, house cleaned (kind of!) in preparation for parent's arrival, I think I've earnt my choccy, wine & trashy film

tillyfernackerpants · 24/07/2009 20:49

daisy congratulations on the redundancy! I'm glad its what you want & that you'll get some more time with ds

Kayzr · 24/07/2009 20:59

Ds2 is fast asleep in his highchair. I am going to attempt taking him to bed. Wish me luck.

daisydora · 24/07/2009 21:04

Kayz hope you got DS to sleep. Also please don't give up the driving, its early days and you can do it.

Sybil, enjoy the night out. I can't wait for mine tomorrow

DH has just gone and bought me a bottle of bubbly to 'celebrate' my redundancy. Am sending a virtual glass to you all

Tilly, enjoy the wine, chocs & film!

pmk1 · 24/07/2009 21:17

Well done Dais - glad it worked out how you wanted....

Kayz - he sounds knackered... don't think ds would ever do that - would kick off way before that, and thrash and squirm until I put him to bed, and then squirm a little more.

Question - How long does it take your LO's to go to sleep when you put them in hte cot for the night? Ds used to go off right away after a bit of nattering, but the latest is he gets up on his knees and sort of rocks back and forth with his head buried in a muslin and cries, then eventually - (probably only about 10-15 mins but it seems like forever) falls asleep....

Kayzr · 24/07/2009 21:25

Daisy glad the redundency is what you wanted.

Ds2 is in his cot in his bedroom for the first night. I am feeling a bit strange about him being in his own room. But it will probably help his sleeping.

tillyfernackerpants · 24/07/2009 21:35

Kayz, hope ds2 has a good night for you. I have a lovely image of him asleep in his highchair!

Kayzr · 24/07/2009 21:51

Ds1 always used to fall asleep in it too. I could never get him to sleep in his cot but he would always sleep in his highchair. Ds2 is asleep before 10 for the first time ever.

spiggy · 24/07/2009 22:35

Kayzr- have you thought about getting an automatic car? If you pass your test in one you do have an automatics only licence but they are so much easier to drive. No gears and no stalling My first driving instructor put me off manual cars for life. When I failed my test I went into an auto and passed my 2nd test a 2 weeks later. Wouldn't swap now.

pmk DD normally quite quick to go to sleep but only if I hold her hand and if I try to sneak away before she's completely asleep then I am punished by at least an hour of crawling around the cot and rolling over and over while complaining at the top of her voice. Still, at least she's not as bad as DS. (Is it really bad that is my mantra everytime she does something annoying?)

I'm feeling so broody too. DP referred to our 3 kids today so think he might be as well

Kayzr · 24/07/2009 22:47

I don't think I would like an automatic. Changing gears and using the clutch is the only thing I am really good at. Plus I wouldn't be able to have lessons with my Mum. Also DH has failed 5 times in an automatic, makes them sound bad!

spiggy · 24/07/2009 22:53

maybe not a good plan then! wish my DP would learn to drive. He promised faithfully that he would learn when I was pg with DS, then again with DD. It would make life so much easier but he likes being chauffered around too much.

pmk1 · 25/07/2009 00:08

Congrats to your friend LadyT. And I think O's name really suits her
pmk camp is hoping for a dc2 soon, but I know missed the boat last month with my timings etc.
Good luck with the driving lessons Kayz. I'm lucky I just had to show mine to get a UK one, but I had already gone through doing a US one and had one from home so I don't think I should have had to do another test

pmk1 · 25/07/2009 00:10

Thanks Spiggy - yeah ds is the same if I rub his back he will sleep faster but I can't sneak off! But then sometimes it turns into giggles when the back rubbing apparently starts to tickle and then he gets really upset if I try to sneak away!

Kayzr · 25/07/2009 06:00

Well ds2 woke at 2am and then ds1 woke us at half 5. So not a good night.

tillyfernackerpants · 25/07/2009 07:43

sympathies kayz, disturbed night here as well

Indith · 25/07/2009 10:40

Glad you are happy with the redundancy news Daisy.

Sybil ds is a thumb sucker, his teeth are not too bad yet but I am trying to discourage it during the day. I was a thumb sucker too and had braces but then my sister had braces too, a lonnger and more horrible course of treatment than me and she never sucked her thumb.

Kayz everybody stalls, the trick is to just say "bugger" and carry on. I hate driving but am a bit more confident since doing some long drives in France in June, I still bugger up hill starts in the horrible up hill start stop traffic on the way to Rainbows.

Tilly hope you chocolate and trash was good.

Spiggy you could make a fortune off your ds!

I am NOT broody. I want more in theory but am so far removed from broody it is untrue. I feel the lask of sleep may have something to do with it. I need sleep and I need ot get a positive attitude back. I hope the attitude is sleep related and not a need for happy pills that I should have discussed with a HV a long time ago related. Dh has the patience of a saint, I don't know how he puts up with me.

If dd doesn't feed to sleep she is a bit of a 'mare to get off and will scream for bloody ages no matter what I do. At least this is her current phase, she varies a lot.

Kayz when ds2 woke at 2am was that just for a feed and back to sleep or did her not want to go back to sleep at all? It seems that you need to get him going to bed earlier for your own sanity and I'm sure you know that to start to see if something is going to work you need to stick at it for at last a week. If he is just waking for a feed I would be tempted to work at getting him sleeping form a sensible bedtime to a sensible time of the morning even with a feed then work at dropping the feed. I have a friend who did the pushing bedtime earlier by a few mins each time and it worked really well. She went from her dd going to bed at about midnight to 9pm (didn't want to have her earlier than that, that time fits in with her dh's work). I think she did about 10/15 mins every 3 days rather than every day.

Kayzr · 25/07/2009 11:13

Indith that is what we are doing. HV said to increase it by 20 minutes every other day. He wanted a bottle last night. Though we are going to stop giving him a bottle of milk as HV says he doesn't need feeding so to either give him some water or to just pat him and then leave him.

Kayzr · 25/07/2009 17:46

Hope you are all having nice days.

DS2's routine is going quite well. He has just had his dinner and is now having a roll around while ds1 has his. Fingers crossed it all works and he sleeps tonight.

traceface · 25/07/2009 20:41

hello.
Thanks for all your lovely messages about my job . I start in September - the job is part time (20 hours but over 4 days) and is term-time only, which fits in uber-nicely with my dh who is a teacher, so we have lots of lovely holidays off together to look forward to. In the last 2 years my holidays have coincided with DH's for only 2 weeks - so it will be wonderful for us to be on hols at the same time (although part of me is a tad worried that we'll drive each other mad!) Definitely better for my family life than all the nights and weekends that i usually have to do.
Went to BIL's wedding yesterday which was very lovely. DD1 was a bridesmaid and behaved immaculately and looked so beautiful. I was mega proud of her. dd2 started with a snuffle which got worse through the day but she was happy all day and gave smiles out pretty easily! I wore my BF dress so although I felt a bit frumpy for my age (!) it was the right decision because she fed about 4 times through the day which is more than normal. I took her back to the hotel at 7 and left dh and dd1 to dance the night away - my plan was to put her down in her cot, read my book for a little while, then get some lovely sleep, but P had other plans! Her cold got much worse and she was so restless I brought her into bed with me, then dh and dd1 got back quite early, so I got no 'me' time really. Didn't matter though. DD1 was so excited to be in a hotel - we've only ever done camping or self catering cottage before so it was a real treat - she wants to go again but next time for a hundred years . Anyway, P fed and snorted on and off all night so I got even less sleep than normal. Then today she slept in the car coming back, didn't eat too well, then has been crying inconsolably for the last 2 hours . She seems quite poorly. She won't even settle with the boob, just doesn't want to latch on, is crying lots of big tears and screaming so that her voice wobbles . I gave her some brufen about 30 mins ago and she has just settled in dh's arms. I hate seeing her so unhappy. SO I guess i'm preparing myself for yet another night of not enough sleep. I'm starting to feel quite low about the sleep now. I can't do this much longer but I don't feel like I have a choice because I don't know how to solve the problem. HV is coming Wednesday to chat it through.
On a lighter note dd1 has her first wobbly tooth!
Sorry that's a very self-indulgent post. am heading off to bed while dh cuddles P, but will try to come on and do personals tomorrow.
sleep well xxx

Kayzr · 25/07/2009 20:49

Glad you had a good time Trace.

Ds2 is asleep in his cot and has been since half 7!!!

sybilfaulty · 26/07/2009 14:43

Where is everyone today? I am upstairs hiding from DD1 who has the jogsaws out and is making me join in, when I'd far rather be reading the paper with a cup of coffee.

Wedding sounds lovely Trace. Any photos? How was your night? And how are you doing WG? I hope things with your dad and your PIL are going OK.

Hello all the rest of you lovely ladies. I can hear DD1 coming to get me now so I'll be back later

daisydora · 26/07/2009 16:03

Hello,

Well the DC's stayed at my mums last night as we went out, which meant we had a whole nights sleep! DS decided to sleep through for my mum I bet he's a right little sod for me tonight. It was great having a night out though not having to worry about what time to be back for. I bought a lovely dress and some new shoes (spending the redundancy before I've got the money).

Have been for a few more 'runs' and it seems to be hurting less. I actually quite enjoyed it at one point.

Trace - glad you enjoyed the wedding

Kayz - how did DS get on in his cot?
