eeek I'm so far behind it is unbelievable.

Thanks to whoever suggested the prune ella's kitchen for DD's constipation, it is really doing the trick, although she still squeals when she's going there is no blood any more.

Food wise DD is streets ahead of DS who was on bm only til he was 7 1/2 months. She has roughly

5:30 bf (as I attempt to con her that she should really still be sleepy and it isn't getting up time)
7- quick top up of bm, couple of minutes only
8:30 huuuuuuuge bowl of porridge/museli/weetabix. Crumpet or toast to chew on afterwards.
10ish bf if I'm around or 4oz expressed milk if I'm not followed by sleep
12 ella's kitchen pouch then sandwich or soup, fuit for pud
1ish- sleep followed by bf or another 4oz expressed milk
4ish- dinner. whatever DS having with additional veg (DS won't touch veg with 10ft bargepole) yoghurt for pud.
5ish more porridge as 2nd pud as she tries to convince everyone she hasn't been fed all day
6ish big bf
7ish more bf to sleep

So please tell me when she's having all that why the little blighter still won't sodding sleep??

Lovely to hear from you SL I'm loving the tour just finished watching the highlights of today so exciting. But unfortunately we are driving down to Southampton tomorrow for the festival at Lulworth castle over the weekend, so will miss the individual time trial highlights, so I'm going to have the tele on watching it live and DH will just have to miss out.

SL that crash sounds scary glad your all ok, can't believe they are contesting the insurance how odd???

WG your life is just too difficult at the moment, you need a break from it. Sorry about your dads foot and his relationship!

About teeth, I'm all for getting started early (my BIL is also a dentist do we had no choice) but i've got a real thing about not making it a bad experience. I've got a real thing about making individuals take responsibilty for their own health. It may seem simple but tooth brushing is one of the most basic and often first health type things we can take control of, so I feel strongly that it should be treated carefully. DS1 didn't get any teeth until he was 10 months so we did a cursory clean when we could get a little brush in there. Then when he could hold and comprehend things a little better I found a silicone brush that was shaped like a babys gum line with little silicone bristles and a little handle and he was able to hold it and chew on it with some tooth paste on it and the chewing action kind of brushed his teeth. We would brush our teeth at the same time and he got a real sense that it was something to be done everyday. Now he has a funky electric tooth brush and happily brushes his teeth morning and night and I've never had to force him. Initially when he started using a proper toothbrush he would brush first then open his mouth for us to do a once over but he brushes so well now we don't need to do that. I had his teeth checked a month ago and the dentist said they were brilliant. Not sure if that makes any sense but am very keen to encourage good dental hygiene but also good self health care in general.

kayz I just sent you some info re the times. If you have any questions let me know, as there is more info in the book, such as when you yourself should, eat, sleep and poo , when to change DSes nappy, etc, I left those bits out!

Veggiemummy · 22/07/2009 22:38

Does GF think there is set time to change their nappies??? Or are you just joking. I always thought you change when it's pooey full of wee, or you can't workout what else they might be crying about?!?!

SL oooh sorry to hear about the car accident but glad everyone is ok. Yes I'm right on the edge of RP so please come and visit!!! I'll be here until the end of next month.
Veg & Lady I'm big on teeth brushing too but I still don't have any teeth to brush should't he have at least one by now?

pmk1 · 22/07/2009 22:46

I'm so rude - glad you had a nice holiday too Summer!

pmk1 · 22/07/2009 22:47

Oh and yes we took the house for 12 months so will have a bit more room to move soon!

LadyThompson · 22/07/2009 22:58

Summer, smashing to hear from you but that awful crash! Thank goodness you are all ok. Glad to hear work sorted too. JJ has had internet issues, I believe.

Veggie, I agree about making it a positive experience but DD loves it (the taste, perhaps?) and squeals with delight when she sees her little pink brush

PMK, some little kids don't get gnashers for yonks. I think up to a year? It's really variable I think. So don't worry! He's definitely not behind.

I've been catching up with The Inbetweeners. I find it very funny though I know it won't be everyone's cup of tea Series 1 is on the Channel 4 iPlayer and Series 2 is on at the mo.

SummerLightning · 22/07/2009 22:59

veggie not exactly!
Oh i was going to type some of it out but I don't want to get in trouble, but it does make me laugh.
It also doesn't really tell you when to have a poo, but the early month schedules tell you, as a mother, when, and to a certain extent what, to eat!

pmk I will let you know if I come down to Raynes Park!

Veggiemummy · 22/07/2009 23:00

As I said DS1 didn't get any til 10months and while I can just see a bit of a White line under the gum on DS2 he is nearly 7.5 months so still late. My periodontist told me that first teeth timing can be genetic, SIL DS1 also has late 'blooming' teeth so must be the fault of their side of the family. However, the perio also said the later they start the better because they have less time exposed to lots of milk drinking (sorry JB with the many toothed baby, or was it ZJ).

No teeth here either!

Veggiemummy · 22/07/2009 23:07

Oh does she tell you to eat cakes, she looks a girl who likes her cakes. I think it's ok to say what she says, just not to say swear or cuss words about her.

SL you must be doing similar to me at the moment with cycling. I put DS2 to bed leave DH to settle DS1and then throw my kit on grab my bike fill my water bottle then I'm off to my little hills. I usually try to go for 2 hours but DS2 often wakes at 9 for a feed so if I haven't left by 7 it's difficult.

Kayzr · 23/07/2009 07:12

Morning,

Summer Thanks for those times. We'll start it tomorrow as we are running late this morning. DS2 woke at 5 and then went back to sleep

Veggie I haven't been out on the bike in ages. I always seem to be too busy or have some stupid injury. I'll have to get some lights so I can go out after DS1 is in bed.

Hope you are all well!

daisydora · 23/07/2009 08:22

No teeth here either! But DD was 10 months before she got her first so I wasn't expecting it soon. Although his gums are very red, andd a few very hard lumps lurking...hmm we'll see.

DD has just had a mad hissy fit as DS crawled over to her game where she was playing with her little plastic people and he obliterated it. I have tried explaining that Harry can crawl now, but he doesn't mean it. She is soooo not impressed. She started throwing his toys about shouting 'this is yours, this is yours, this is yours'. DS however didn't have a clue what was happening!

On other news DH and I are out on Saturday night and Mum and Dad are going to sleep both DC's at theirs, so I can have a whole nights sleep! I am so happy

Dysgu · 23/07/2009 08:58

Hello Everyone. I always have so much catching up to do whenever I manage to get online.

It is interesting to read about teeth - DD2 has nothing happening in her mouth as far as I can tell. She is now 31 weeks I think - so exactly 6 months corrected due to prematurity.
Having such early babies means I can sit back and just let them do things when they do them - I am never sure when they should (real age vs corrected age.) Of course, as DD1 was even earlier than DD2, I can compare them to eacg other! DD1 had her first tooth at 10 months - which was 2 months before she started crawling!

Still not movement from DD2 here - she can roll over but doesn't do it very often. Sh can scoot along on her back a bit too.

Currently sh has a new game of dropping her toys for DD1 to pick up for her.

veggiemum I imagine you may already have left to drive down this way (we live on the Island by Southampton). We debated going to Camp Bestival but decided against it (as we have a wedding in Durham next weekend so are heading north!) I would love to know how you get on so we can plan to go next year.

Dysgu · 23/07/2009 08:58

sorry - veggiemummy oops

Veggiemummy · 23/07/2009 09:11

Dysgu you live on the isle of White I love it there we cycled around it a couple of years back, I have a friend who is a vet over there, he is coming to the festival too. We aren't driving down until tonight as DH won't get home until 6.30 so hope to leave at 7. We haven't actually completely packed yet. A friend is going to take DS1 this afternoon so I can pack while DS2 is napping or playing...hopefully. We are hoping as it is about their normal sleep time that they will both fall asleep and we can have a quiet drive...here's hoping. It say a bit over 3 hours on the google maps thing so hopefully?!?!?

Well the first day of summer holidays is upon us and what are we doing? Watching cbeebies! I figure we are outdoors all weekend so it won't hurt.

Can I ask a question of all you runners? What trainers do you wear? The only thing I know about running is that you need good footwear but not sure what to look at.

Indith · 23/07/2009 10:43

Hello!

Right then

Veggie and Effie I find you get very funny looks when babywearing. Lots of "oh she looks so cosy" too though which is nice.

Sybil thank you we are all better now. Hope all other SF sufferers are doing well. Dd's cough has almost gone now, it had me worried for a couple of days as it started badly after the fever had gone, she was very hoarse and sometimes wheezing but she is fine. Hope the other babies are ok.

Trace hope everything has gone well.

Yorkshire meet- I might manage it this time, let me know!

Daisy very impressed at running. In fact very impressed at all of you who do exercise. I ran and swam once upon a time. Now I live up a huge hill and am far too to run in public and just can't seem to make it to the pool without children and between feeds. We move to the country soon with woods to hide run in though so I shall have to make you all give me a kick up the bum.

Arti loved you morning description! I hate days like that but they are funny when you can look back on them!

WG I know what you mean re sleep etc. FWIW we kicked dd out to the spare room, she is quite literally wedged in among junk, spare furniture etc. It has helped because I've been forced to remain awake while feeding, I've been able to note the times and how well she has fed to get an idea of when she is actually hungry. Then between feeds I've sent dh in and actually it has gone well and with not too much fuss, she is far from sleeping through but much better. Before she got ill we were down to 2 or 3 feeds plus a couple of other wakings. Just waiting for the snotty nose to go before we start again, when ill I just offer breast, I won't deny any comfort when they are not well!

Veggie well done on the complaining!

SL gosh, glad you are all ok.

Spiggy good to see you, was a bit worried after a strange thing on Facebook. Course it may have been you I don't know but you are here so I shall stop worrying

Teeth. We have none. Must think about getting a brush for dd though so get her used to it. Ds hatees having his teeth brushed even though we started early. We have to pin him down while he screams Better than pinning down while dentist drills though.

Daisy we get lots of "no Daisy no! It's William's!" as dd gets more mobile. Very funny. I am trying to establish stuff that dd can mess with and stuff she can't (duplo etc shared toy, his nice trucks and fave cars are not to be chewed)

Dysgu where in Durham? Come for coffee!

We had a lovely day at the beach yesterday with MIL, her dh and his dd with dh and ds. The boys threw sand at each other and argued as toddlers do but also paddled holding hands

Think I've just ovulated. Arses. Don't want periods back thank you very much!

LadyThompson · 23/07/2009 11:07

Hello Dysgu! And Spiggy yesterday. Dysgu, Nolda lives quite near you.

Indith, so glad you are feeling better.

Well, DD's new home in the eyrie passed without incident! We have a blackout blind up there and being up stairs it is further away from noise such as the telly, and so she went straight off to sleep.

daisydora · 23/07/2009 11:22

kayz, I'm no expert on trainers. I bought some Reebok 'running' ones. They were about £30 (should have been £40). I figure they are okay just while I get used to it and if I really take to running then I will invest in some good quality ones.

I could walk this morning despite thinking I had overdone it yesterday. But am going to have a day off today.

Veggie do you recommend running every other day then so your body can rest or just rest every couple of days?

BTW have a fab time at Bestival

SummerLightning · 23/07/2009 11:29

veggie tee hee to GF and CAKE! I think it is actually toast she recommends. Have a good time at Bestival!

kayz I got running shoes from a running shop that films your running gait and recommends some for you. I think mine are ASICS and they are really comfy. However, I haven't used them for ages, when I go running now I can't be bothered to dig them out and I just run in my salamon walking trainers, which seem fine. The Asics were q expensive though, about 70 quid I think.

indith glad you are getting better, I also forgot to say get well soon to kim before! I also love slings and have a mei tai now that I use loads and that DH loves even more! He likes the attenion he gets from ladies young and old when carrying DS!

Indith · 23/07/2009 11:39

Oooooh Veggie there is a thread linking to a bbc story about the results of your complaintI feel you need to go bask in glory post haste.

LadyThompson · 23/07/2009 12:00

It's £59 return on Eurostar to Paris, selected dates....

spotofcheerfulness · 23/07/2009 12:12

Blimey I can't believe how quickly things have moved on since yesterday! Hi again SL, nice to see you back, glad you like teh mei tai, would you recommend it for lardy slightly larger babies? Not that I'm suggesting your DS is, but as mine is and I'm in the market for a new sling it would be good to have some recommendations of ones that aren't too tricky to do up and you can do back carries with and are good for blokes too. Sounds like it could fit the bill?

Well we still have the turny over baby though it was only 3 times last night so hoping he learns how to sort himself out soon! I'm still a raging insomniac even when he and DP are sleeping so need to get that sorted, I'm currently getting as much sleep as when T was a newborn which can't be right?!

LadyT I don't think you come across as a control freak at all and I would love T to eat at set mealtimes makes things a lot easier to plan so if O is up for it I think you've got a good thing going on! And glad she enjoyed her new sleepy home . Oh, and the pub quiz was pretty good, not university challenge type questions but no pushover either. We came 6th out of 18 but were only 5 points behind the winners so reckon there's definitely scope there for improvement.
