moosemama · 13/07/2009 21:28

peach not many replies on other thread just two saying don't give probiotics to babies.

Was thinking of getting the blue one actually as ds1 won't countenance pink and they all need to share. We considered the bumbo option, but decided we would need the water too deep. Apparently the aqua pod seat is made of similar material to the bumbo.

missjackson · 13/07/2009 21:33

Thanks tree - I think I forgot to use the poppers (doh)... and thanks for telling me about washing powder too, I would have used normal amount.

I then fold up the bamboo bit in half for a boy, is that right? (sorry, you prob not the right person to ask with your 2 - Lenni?)

Pat am def on for thurs afternoon, will fb you my number now.

eppm LOL at bumbo in bath, that never would have crossed my mind - don't see why not though!

I have to admit most nights either me or DH have a bath with N; it's just so much fun, and I love feeding him in the bath too - so relaxing.

treedelivery · 13/07/2009 21:41

Miss J - if they are ittis, there should be a booster that has 3 folds in it? That folds up into a long rectangle, with the hourglass booster on top. I'm not sure if thats what you mean, or if you are folding differently for a boy. I can't see you would need to at this age tbh, though you never know I guess.

LenniEd · 13/07/2009 21:45

MissJ - I don't fold my ittis any differently from how Tree described. Totsbots need the booster flap folding differently for a boy but Ittis don't have an absorbant outer layer like the totsbots so I don't think they would work with the bamboo bit folded forwards, but I could well be wrong on that. I've never had any leaks with them not folded though so maybe try them and see. I do find they need to be a lot tighter round the hips than you would think (so the poppered part lies very flat close to the skin without bulging out) and that you need to pull the front up level with their belly button so they are low slung at the back rather than the front - think that is a boy thing

Oh more nappy chat... promise no more... for now

treedelivery · 13/07/2009 23:56

...but more shopping chat....

one or two of us like a pattern I believe? So check out these lurrrvly wash/wet bags and feeding cover thingies.

I lusting! And I've seen the new fabrics that are coming in a few weeks - Ohhhhh!

What can I sell? I want one? I could sell Hattie but then I wouldn't need one so that's no good.

treedelivery · 13/07/2009 23:57

Oh yeah. link

Right - def off to bed now!

Dog!!!!

missjackson · 14/07/2009 08:25

Welcome back dog!

OK, urgent itti question: unless I am being really stupid (which is no doubt the case), the 3 parts don't seem to fit together. So I've got the outer shell, the big bamboo booster, and the hourglass shaped fleece lined top soaker pad. I fold the big booster into a long rectangle, and pop the matching poppers which are at the front of the nappy. Then on top I lay the hourglass soaker pad, but the poppers I need are covered by the big booster?! It's like the big booster is too long for the nappy? That's why I then tried to fold the big booster long rectangle in half again, towards the front, which then frees up the poppers at the back for the hourglass soaker pad.

Also, do you wash your boosters etc in with the nappies? Don't they go grey if they are not on a white wash? I am a bit obsessed with white washes.

We have all woken up with sore throats (N coughing again), so not happy!

hi just marking

stripeywoollenhat · 14/07/2009 09:14

missj, the big booster sort of tucks in under, it's quite a tight fit. if you pull the big one back a bit so that you can do up the yellow poppers, and then tuck the big booster back under. this loosens out a bit as the nappy gets older.

and they don't go grey in the wash, unless you forgetfully put a black sock in with them or something....

okay, i won't be mentioning nappies again for some time, as even i am starting to feel like a freak now...

hi dog

Dog, you're still a member as far as I can see, or you've been reaccepted?

SparkleandShine · 14/07/2009 10:17

Missj - stretch the nappy (so the leg elastic stretches) and you'll find it all fits in....

RANT ALERT!!!

Another bloody interview candidate has dropped out - for an interview tomorrow. What is it with people.... I thought with all the redundancies out there there would be tons of good candidates... b*gger

tinkisback · 14/07/2009 10:36

hi dog great to have you back

sparkle - oh dear anbout interviews
!!!

SparkleandShine · 14/07/2009 10:56

The ittis have arrived - James very colourful in blue now!

Sort of makes up for the candidate a bit,the pushchair will help as well .

We seem to be having a problem with candidates because what a lot of the redundant ones want is effectively their old job and salary back

Have interviewed two ladies now (well one didn't even make it past phone interview) as having both applied for the job and with a good cvs they both said in slightly different ways they couldn't understand why people bought online instead of going into a shop - and then they wondered why we turned them down!!! Aggghhhh.

Three of the younger candidates were obviously holding out for some kind of blue-chip or larger company or more money - all obviously living at home so could be uber-fussy

ok rant over.

Nothing against the redundant people btw - I wouldn't be where I am now if it hadn't happened to me

Missj boosters have been washed in with the nappies and are still fine.

moosemama · 14/07/2009 11:37

Morning all,

Phew - just back from sports day - it rained, but on the upside, no pushy mommies this year. Actually, maybe there were pushy mommies, but as my two were running races at opposite ends of the field at the same time I didn't have enough time to stand and eavesdrop chat. I spent most of the time running up and down the middle of the field with dd in the pushchair - thank god for 3-wheelers.

DOG!!!!! So pleased you are back, you have been sorely missed. Glad to hear you are loving your new home and enjoying the garden.

Things have settled down with the school now thanks. Both dss got lovely reports, ds2 exceeded all his targets and is now ahead of quite a few other children in his class and ds1 flew through his SATs getting top grades in everything except speaking and listening, for which he got the average mark (along with 85% of the children in his year). (Thought that was a bit unfair really as although he's hopeless at listening - show me a 7 year old boy who isn't, he is extremely articulate with a huge vocabulary for a boy of his age and is able to hold adult level conversations with ease.) His teacher totally backtracked on the 'socially dysfunctional' comment and said on his report that he is a kind, sensitive boy who cares about his peers and has many friends and is able to work well in a team! (She's bonkers that woman - I'm sure!)

I am a lone mommy for the next 48hrs as DH is in Dorset on a training course with his boss. I was so ridiculously nervous about coping with all three for the morning school run today, but I needn't have been, this morning ran more smoothly than yesterday's distaster, despite having three times as much to do. I even managed to dust and vacuum before I took the boys to school! Mind, you I've only just drunk my first coffee of the day.

Tree hope you are having a lovely day out. Sorry I disappeared on the other thread last night, dd has been really grumpy since missing all her naps on Sunday and yesterday was poo day as well (duly delivered at 10.45 pm) hence my sudden disappearance. Will go over and answer the poo questions in a mo.

MissJ Have you seen these. They sell them in Tesco and most other supermarkets and have revolutionised the way I do my washing. I try to keep the number of loads I do down to a minimum and only use ecover, but often find I don't have enough of one colour to justify a load so things end up living in the washing basket for ages, especially dd's clothes as I don't wash hers in with ours. The colour catchers are great as you can put all different colours in together without worrying. I still wash white loads separately but put one in with whites as well, its incredible how grey the colour catcher is when it comes out of a white wash. I'm sure it is prolonged the life and whiteness of our clothes, especially the boys school shirts and dds sleepsuits. (God I sound like an advert .)

SAS I was telling DH about your job candidate problems and he was gobsmacked. Can't believe people aren't snapping your hands off for a job in the current climate. DH's company has vacancies for developers and there are literally thousands of people applying for them. Must be really frustrating, although I can well believe it really, my last job was an administrator at an HE college and out of all the people who applied, I was the only one who had the right qualifications and I only applied for the job the fourth time it was advertised. Other people came for the interview but it was obvious they had lied about having the necessary skills when they couldn't do the test. Hope you find someone soon.

Dog teacher not near retiring, just odd. Mum thinks she is anorexic (great example to little girls ) and that explains the mood swings andcuhildish behaviour, (Mum is a an eating disorders specialist btw.)

Good idea to do something for you before considering another baby, I have been looking at college prospectuses but don't have a clue what I want to do any nothing is 'calling me' iykwim.

I thought ds2 would really miss ds1 when he started school full time, but I needen't have worried, he enjoyed the time with me and they played better together after school because they's had some time apart. They will be in separate playgrounds next year and are already complaining about it, but it will probably do ds2 some good for him to really become his own person with his own friends rather than tagging along with ds1 and his friends. Am still a bit for them though.

Great news about Arlo's speech as well.

Oh, and you are not mad, I often end up teary over my lovely children and feel our family was truly blessed to get such a smiley, good natured baby girl.

Dd is 6 months old tomorrow and we are starting BLW at tea time. (Waiting till DH gets back from his course.) She is going to have roasted sweet potato wedges and steamed broccoli. but for growing up too fast.

SparkleandShine · 14/07/2009 14:09

moose I started with 50 very good CV's from monster, over half disappeared as they weren't interested in the job (those on £20k looking for the mythical £100k a year jobs LOL). Then of the 20 who actually spoke to us, about 10 were useless on the phone/email when we were sounding them out, 10 we offered tests to 4 declined and 6 took them. 2 then dropped out after the tests, 2 failed the tests and we interviewed 2, 1 was useless at interview and one good bloke is coming back for second interview.

Next 10 very good CV's, two came back to us and then both pulled out!

Plus don't get me started on the applications from the advert- have said you need a degree and good numeric ability - the last lady who applied had 6 GCSE's - 4 D's and 2 G's (one of the G's was maths)

Dog its this one www.kiddicare.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/productdisplayA_531_10751_-1__85705_10001_

EachPeachPearMum · 14/07/2009 14:16

DOG!!!!!!!!

Oh welcome back... glad house is fabulous

On the job front- the last post I advertised (admin) I had 146 applicants
Only 2 were great though, and the one we went with has been just superb, cannot fault her- she is brilliant.

Yes- we said good standard of education- so people with 1 cse in needlework were applying

missjackson · 14/07/2009 14:19

OK, thanks for itti tips! And thanks for colour thingy Moose - I do hate it when my washing runs!

N is so grizzly today, it's not like him at all. Only slept for 30 mins in the morning and an hour just now - suppose that's not so bad but he just seems so tired.

Dog all sounds great, and lovely to have you back. Think it's a good decision to wait for no.4 - that way it will be a wonderful treat some time in the future. And if you want a gorgeous horse in the meantime... you know where to come!
