Ah I remember now, they want to 'see' them but not 'do' anything with them iirc. hardly fair.
Poor dd.

I bought these jumper's

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 09/07/2009 22:09

Dd doesn't really have much pink, but I love this jumper.

Is dd in any pain with the ear?

dizzydixies · 09/07/2009 22:11

no, no pain - just apparently sticking out

I love kids in stripes

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 09/07/2009 22:14

aww bless.

I just hope they fit, I love the blue one.

I am going now, as dh is looking at me like this and calling me a saddo as I have been sat here 3 hours.
night

dizzydixies · 09/07/2009 22:15

me too and DH home god knows when and away again at 6am so if one of them starts barfing its all about me

night

LoveBuckets · 09/07/2009 22:22

LOL at PILs I hear ya. Mine also sit about being unhelpful but also when we visit them. If we do get offered something to eat, it usually never gets followed up. Once FIL asked us if we wanted a cuppa, we said yes please and he turned to MIL sat next to him and said "2 teas Christine". She, probably feeling a bit humiliated, then went on strike in her doormat way so we ended up making our own. Of course now whenever we have visitors of our own, DH & I now fight to say "2 teas Christine" first .

TwilightSurfer · 09/07/2009 22:33

ILs! shall say no more.....

Dizzy that's thrilling news about the lovely christening and birthday.

I'm listening intently to all the stroller talk. I need a new umbrella style but I'm trying to penny pinch at the same time. That said I may never have a new stroller. The Quinny Buzz interests me.

Buckets I would be lost without a stroller most days when I'm around town.

DD1 just woke Reese.

dizzydixies · 09/07/2009 22:36

I have a quinny buzz and love it but I wouldn't say its a cheap or small option

Jennylee · 10/07/2009 02:19

Goodness, I have a silly amount of pram things, a britax pram, a maclaren triumph a silvercross pop and a graco. They all have good qualities, but dh doesn't get it. The pop was the most disappointing, too high handles, not very good brakes. Ana is only saying bep bep and mumma and dad dad. impressed by the talking babies on here.

TwilightSurfer · 10/07/2009 02:52

Jenny your collection of prams rivals No1's.

Yeah the Quinny didn't look as small as I'd like but ebay had a few for just $100US. That's about a fourth of their list price.

Honestly I just need a junk umbrella stroller to toss in the back of the truck for quick trips. Something in the $20US price range.

It's SO hard not to find something much nicer.

Reese had spagetti with meat sauce and then 7oz of formula before bed about an hour ago. I'm guessing that's enough to knock her out for the rest of the night. I've got this wild idea...if she requires that 5am bottle I may go run afterwards before the other folks in the house wake.

Night!

SoNotExpectant · 10/07/2009 02:53

I too am impressed by the talking. DS appears to have had some kind of relapse and no longer says mama or dada . Just bah, baba, bye and his animal noises (snake - ssss, tiger - rahhh, duck - kak)

I love our Maclaren Techno XT - DH insisted on getting the Spitfire version but I for once said that it was a waste of money (I think it was about 50(can't find pound sign) more and we should go for the boring Grey!

My friend who lives in our condo came back from Oz yesterday and in her tired state hadn't noticed that her DS (10mo) had managed to pull himself up on their water cooler and he then turned the hot tap on himself and scolded both his forearms. Poor little mite and needless to say friend was beside herself.

Miamla thanks for reminding me about the back of neck thingy - I usually use this as an indication of whether he is too hot (which is more normal here) but didn't think about it for if he is too cold. I'll check tomorrow at 5am

TwilightSurfer · 10/07/2009 03:10

Expectant this lady has questions that you might be able to answer.

TwilightSurfer · 10/07/2009 03:12

Oh there you are already. Morning

SoNotExpectant · 10/07/2009 04:45

TS just having a look now.

Waves back

Miamla · 10/07/2009 06:00

morning, DS decided that 4.30 was a good time to get up so here i am
he did have a really good night though..bed at 7, moaned/chatted for an hour (i was popping in and out to him), asleep at 8.15, awake at 11.30 (for 5 mins of humming/stroking) and then the next time i saw him was 4.30!!!
DP meanwhile is waking me more than DS. He apparently can't get used to me not getting up for DS so he wakes up panicing. So the tally is as follows
DS - 1 wakeup
DP - 3 wakeups
FFS!!!!!! I'm getting less sleep now then when DS was waking up more

sonot you're welcome

Morning all

We havve only the one buggy a Maxicosi Mura ans I love it. We have just bought both sets of parents a Tesco £10 umbrella fold one which is amazingly good for the money.

DD mastered walking with her pushalong this morning so nothing is safe anymore.

Miamla - It seems your technique with DS has worked amazingly. Unfortunately I am like you DP, if she sleeps for too long I go in and check she hasn't strangled herself with the muzzy, smothered herself with the cotbumper or just stopped breathing. I check at least 3 time before I go to bed then once in the night if I haven't heard from her for 5 hours.

We are off swimming this morning then meeting a friend for coffee at a neew farmshop that needs testing out

Dizzy - hope the Tiger is good

sambo303 · 10/07/2009 07:59

morning

miamla my dp also wakes through the night (now from habit he claims although I suspect he just likes moaning). Luckily he doesnt wake me as I sleep like the dead

dizzy I was leaning towards the Quinny buzz and had a look round at some whilst at the shops yesterday and they do seem awfully wide - there was one on ebay for £75 yesterday but I was not sure about the width/weight

no1 love those jumpers, good price too

we are off to soft play for the first time this afternoon, meeting up with nct and other mums. Hope it's good as ds need constant entertainment in a safe environment at the mo.

RedLentil · 10/07/2009 08:22

One pushchair here in the last six years. A grey Maclaren Techno XT.

Oh and someone gave me a Mothercare double thing out of pity which I used on dry days for the school run but tis a horrible thing.

Got to run.

Miamla · 10/07/2009 08:26

oops ooh, i love farmshops especially the ones that do cream teas
i wouldn't mind if dp was getting up to check DS, he doesn't though. he wakes me up to ask if DS is ok

sambo welcome to my world!its great that they'e so curious but sooo exhausting! i often pop to the park to let him explore the play area

Morning [yawn]. Couple of rubbish nights here - still it is Friday and the sun is shining so I won't moan.

Dizzy thanks for reminding me - we are in St Andrews late afternoon 31 July til the morning of 2 Aug but nearly all of Saturday is this wedding - at 11am(!) and of course going on all afternoon/evening. DH is singing AND playing so we will be free Sat am while he rehearses but goodness knows what time he is starting if the ceremony is at 11... fancy meeting for breakfast?! Or at what I imagine is probably supper&bedtime on Friday? It does seem crazy to come all that way and not see you and Poppy but I don't expect you multi-childed people to come out (I don't know how far it would be for you?) at an awkward time for a very short meet-up with us!

And while I'm picking up days-old messages, Steak it wasn't me who asked about sizes, sorry - the dresses are gorgeous but I can't justify it, wish I could.

oopsacoconut · 10/07/2009 09:35

OOh thanks Pertelote - Steaky, it was ME who asked - I will measure DD when I find a tape measure.

alittlebitshy · 10/07/2009 09:36

I need to try a soft play or something for ds. miamla and pertelote there is one in Romford that i've heard lots about that has a good area for little ones. Funky Monkeys. The other one (in the Brewery, forgotten the name ) is meant to be fab too but we've never been. Kid's Space, that's it. that is meant to be ££££ though.

miamla what does ds do in exploring the play area? just walk around and look? or do you put him on things (ds has only done swings and rocky things so far oh and i think dh put him on a slide once). Our park is not ve good for letting him go though as it is not v clean at all and too many big kids even in school hours

cyteen · 10/07/2009 10:55

Completely farcical night last night with grumpy teething baby up at all hours and then DP trapping a nerve in his shoulder at 3.30am. So instead of going to an all day meeting in London (main attractions: p&q to read my book on the train there and back, plus a half day off in lieu which I was going to use to go to another yoga class next week) I am at home with both of them. We're all knackered and DS is still mega grumpy.

Still, it's not all bad - managed to squeeze some fun in while the little'un was napping

Miamla · 10/07/2009 11:18

cyteen i hope that's not how he managed to trap a nerve! you need to perfect your technique if it was!

pertelote sorry, DS seems to have stolen the sleep fairies this week! Don't worry, I'm sure they'll be looking for a new home after the weekend!

albs most of the soft play places are free if they're under 1 so if we're quick, we might get to try a freebie first session! there's one in Edmonton (i think! i know how to get there but not sure what its called, its in a leisure centre, southall maybe? ooh, i don't know!) that's pretty good for the littlies.
the play area is where we had our picnic so no dogs allowed and DS usually picks up a little girl to follow round He has a wander round on his own (ie with me following at a discrete distance because i don't want to cramp his style!) but yeah, i put him on swings, slides, roundabout, climbing frame etc if he wanders in that direction and shows an interest. his favourite is definitely the slide
