Buckets - it is about 5 miles from me What is is called? If you want an idea of things to do just YELL!

dizzydixies · 15/07/2009 22:18

am giving up, I'm obviously more tired than she is so I'm off up to bed and if that means she has to come in with me then so be it

DD1 hasn't been great tonight, wee soul was wet within an hr of going to bed and was really aggitated even after calpol - maybe not a bad thing if DD2 is in with me

have a busy day so will bid you all goodnight and speak tomorrow

LoveBuckets · 15/07/2009 22:18

Oh on the subject of willies, DS1(4) only discovered his recently on coming out of nappies late. He now clutches his crotch whenever slightly agitated so after a couple of months of letting him have his willy-freedom, the summer holidays will be spent gently encouraging him to save it for home-use.

LoveBuckets · 15/07/2009 22:20

Oops Cool, me and Kurt can come out for a mini meetup then! Antonia House - I am attracted by its 1.5 acre garden for the kids to really have a bit of freedom and some v nice decor inside.

Steaknife · 15/07/2009 22:33

LOL at youngbuckets crotch-clutching, it made me imagine him as a teeny-tiney rapper posturing around the house.

I can't remember who was asking the other day about bedtime routines for two LOs, but there is some sensible sounding advice over on this thead

Steaknife · 15/07/2009 23:14

I've either killed the thread, put you all to sleep or you have a secret steak free thread somewhere else.
So I will say "Goodnight" and close the door quietly.

TwilightSurfer · 16/07/2009 02:03

Well I guess it's a good thing I know CPR!

NOPE! NOT DEAD YET!!

I got both girls bathed and in their new pajamas. DD1 is pushing her limits with us as she's still not IN THE BED. DH is dealing with that though. Since my last post I was able to read half a chapter in my trashy novel. Feels good to read something other than how to deal with your child. I will praise Sazzles for her ability to read for pleasure while we are at the beach. She offered me a book and I never made it past the prologue. Mine is a sad sad literary life.

Buckets, I did exactly as you recently. DD1 woke in a fuss in the middle of the night. She was all caught up in her fussing/tantrum and couldn't just say MOM I WET THE BED PLEASE HELP ME. Instead she growled at me and stomped around my room. I don't believe things like this earn us the bad MOMMY crown. We do so much to decode their behaviour 24/7...an instance like this is just part of our "learning curve". Now if it happens twice we may have to use Dizzy's staple gun and set the crown permanently.

ILs called about the weekend. They are only staying (in a hotel) here Saturday night BUT they are borrowing DH's red sports car. This means there is absolutely no way I'll be able to go to the wedding party Saturday evening. My last secret plan was to take my aunt, who is also visiting this weekend with my uncle (my side of the family and just 8 years older than me), to the party. We'd have a BLAST. NOPE! NOPE! NOPE!
AAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

Black Beans and Rice (left over from yesterday) for dinner. YUM! The others had hot dogs. Reese did like DH's baked beans though. I guess that's not so bad.

Point of Interest:
Reese no longer looks like a baby. She looks like a little person. How cool is that!!

Night (again)

SoNotExpectant · 16/07/2009 03:12

ALBS Happy Birthday hope you have a great day.

DS also recently discovered his willy and plays with it whenever he has his nappy off or is in the bath - lovely! When I say no to him he just smiles and shakes his head.

DS up at 5.18 this morning but came to bed with us and I had to wake him at 7.30 so I could feed him and give him breakfast before coming to work. He and DH were happily snoring away together

Miamla · 16/07/2009 07:42

right, cunning plan, i've got 3 pages to catch up on so i'm doing a little reply after each page!

sambo poor F, must be awful for you both. have you got DP there to help administer cuddles? i hope he improves quickly and gets back to his usual bubbly self. and i agree with TS, if you've stayed off fb this long, stick with it!

dizz hmm, your post at 21.27 says that you have to get an early night... i suspect there'll be more from you from last night my prediction is last post is nearer 22.27! ooh, the suspense...

steaky thanks for the woohoo but can you do a bit quieter next time please, i had a sleeping baby here last night dontchaknow!

red its not very top secret, just a little bit top secret! she knows she's getting a skirt and she has seen two snippets of fabric... a turquoise/teal one and a jet black one. That's all i'm saying for now. hey, if she likes it you might even get to see a photo

i'm off to read the next page so worry not if i've ignored you so far

OP posts:
Miamla · 16/07/2009 07:58

red i hope your DH wasn't one of the three in the competition!

ts sorry, completely forgot about your BFN... glad it was what you wanted

oops i'd say slightly overthinking. they def process their days during the night so imo, it makes sense that if they're doing more then the have more to process

dizz you're up to 21.52

i think my saying 'no' to DS just gives him the message that what he's doing is potentially exciting so its really worth persevering to play with it [sigh]

OP posts:
Miamla · 16/07/2009 08:17

buckets my initial thought was 'ooh, dp loves windmills' but just looked at their website. what very strange people... "his and her's tvs" in one room. their "celebration specials" are described as..."the perfect way to mark life's emotional highs - proposals, honeymoons, anniversaries, a new mistress or perhaps to seal the divorce which follows!"
they've put me right off!
sorry to hear about ds1, please try not to get too upset about the previous night. you are a wonderful mum and the leaps and bounds DS1 has made in the last year is surely evidence enough for you

dizz i've just realised though that the reason you couldn't go up earier was because of dd2. sorry for taking mickey now, thought it was you procrastinating and not going to bed

TS re DH's car, i've got a special word for you... its "NO". apologise to ils, explain that you've already got plans and go to the party. seriously girl, you need a break

sonot are DSs really are still in tune! we had a 5.23 wakeup this morning! does S climb on everything? have you worked out a way to stop him? DS keeps climbing on our stereo unit, and then walks along it over onto the sofa and then onto the (higher) coffee table to get to the bookcase at the end I've tried 'no' and i've tried letting him fall off in the hope that the fear would stop him but no, he's fearless!

OP posts:
Miamla · 16/07/2009 08:21

right, now its my turn

DS was in bed asleep at 8.30pm and he woke this morning at 5.23am!!!!!! with no wakeups, nada, not a single one (tis really true this time dizz )

i had an awful thought though that its the tamiflu i'm taking, that's making him sleepy.

ooh and pertelote you asked me a question ages ago and the answer is 'yes' bet you can't remember what the question was can you

OP posts:
Miamla · 16/07/2009 08:23

good morning girls and welcome to the miamla show

OP posts:
SoNotExpectant · 16/07/2009 08:39

So what was the question?

In answer to yours to me he's actually not too bad with climbing furniture but goes crazy when he sees stairs and insists on doing one step in one stride despite the fact he has rather short legs (he gets that from me with long body and short legs - not a great combo wished he had DH's legs as much nicer). But is also completely fearless

oopsacoconut · 16/07/2009 08:39

Morning Miamla - Great show Well done DS.

DD slept until 3 then I went in settled her and she slept until 7.20 so she is much chirpier today and not as clingy, I can put her down today.

oopsacoconut · 16/07/2009 08:40

aahhhh 666 again!

Miamla · 16/07/2009 09:02

sonot i'm going to see if pertelote remembers!
DS hasn't really had access to stairs but given half a chance, he scampers up them!
Does he chat much? i'm wondering whether DS's vocab is smaller because he's got more mobility? don't they say that babies are either talkers or walkers?

oops I'd like to thank my mum, my DP and of course my wonderful DS and my lovely friends on here and the book that DS is currently eating and and and i'm sorry i'm just so happy

OP posts:
Miamla · 16/07/2009 09:03

oops so pleased DD more her happy self

OP posts:
sambo303 · 16/07/2009 09:47

lol miamla
great news about T, how amazing its come out of the blue like that. There is hope for F now, he's still waking at 11ish before sleeping til 6/7. Not complaining though

morning sonot & oops

ds seems ok today, no sickness, red pimples are still there and looking blotchy on his face. He ate his porridge with a spoon himself this morning

Miamla · 16/07/2009 10:56

sonot can we call you snot? its what i read your new name as!

sambo yay F! that's impressive using a spoon himself! here's hoping he carries on improving
It is amazing about DS's sleeping but i'm still not counting any chickens! i'm just worried that i'm going to get used to sleeping and then he'll go back to his usual ways!
it is very very bizarre still not having to run up the stairs every half hour or so in the evening. DP are actually getting to spend the evenings together

i've got both DS and DP sleeping at the moment so i'm just on here having a break from my sewing! wish i could tell you more about what i'm doing! I showed DP last night and he seemed genuinely impressed and he is a very harsh critic Its useful when i do really want an honest opinion but less so when i don't want to hear that my bum looks big in it!

OP posts:
SoNotExpectant · 16/07/2009 11:13

Thanks Miamla maybe I need another name change

Yes I think he's definitely a walker not a talker.

Miamla · 16/07/2009 11:17

snot that confirms my theory, and it also concludes my cup of tea so back to the sewing machine i go

nooo, don't change again, you make a lovely snot

OP posts:
Miamla · 16/07/2009 11:18

you're all going to wish i was poorly again at this rate

OP posts:
Miamla · 16/07/2009 11:19

its a good job there isn't a penalty for over-usage of smilies

oh and TS you scared me earlier when i saw your post about knowing CPR..thought you meant you'd had to use it in RL, not the thread!

OP posts:
Miamla · 16/07/2009 11:19

i really am going now
byeeeeeeeee
