Ooops sorry you didn't have a great night again DS also up at 5.40 - well done on the steps though - don't worry I'm sure you won't be able to stop her soon!

I don't think we'll be able to avoid the technology unfortunately.

oopsacoconut · 13/07/2009 07:55

Notso (I always read it as snoto!) I guess it's not really the technology but the awareness of the opposite sex and the need to attract them that is so scarey!

Miamla · 13/07/2009 08:03

I'm poorly and its suspected swine flu thus the oinks!

dp poorly too but not as bad as me so he's cleaning the kitchen

ds seems to have escaped the worse of it so far

we spent the weekend with pil so i keep saying "at least we got home"

off to catchup now, hello all in the meantime, its nice to be home (ie here!)

SoNotExpectant · 13/07/2009 08:07

Ooops you're right - one of the reasons DH was quite happy when we had a boy

Miamla · 13/07/2009 08:09

good grief, i've got 7 pages to read to catch up! i was only gone for 2 days! i may be some time! who said that? hmm, haven't got time to google quotes, have to catch up especially as dp off work today and liable to want his laptop anytime soon!

OP posts:
Miamla · 13/07/2009 09:08

oh guys, i've still got 3 pages to go and can't remember a thing i've read other than i can confirm that pertelote's DD is indeed a beautifully dainty little thing so you're right to look forward to meeting her dizz

my head feels like mushy stuff, but i'll read to the end!

Buckets what a wanker How marvellous that sexual harrassment is alive and well in our 21st century society. Funnily enough this was on my mind yesterday - was walking back from yoga, minding my own business, and heard some rancid bloke say 'look at the nipples on that lass'. I mean, wtf! And it wasn't even as if I had the peanut-smuggling look going on at the time. Anyway, it reminded me of when I was a student in Leeds and we went to this rough pub with a local mate of ours; I was standing at the bar waiting to get served and someone whacked me really hard on the backside. When I turned round it was this hideous 40something moustachioed Paul Calf type who slurred 'sorry luv but you've got a lovely arse'. Like that was the magic that every girl longs to hear I would have smacked him but he looked like the kind of guy who would have no qualms about hitting a woman, so I said 'yes, you'd never know I have a sexually transmitted disease would you?' and walked off. Not my finest hour but at least I said something and felt slightly less disempowered.

Sorry to hear of the pork cough Miamla, have they given you any advice re. DS and general looking-after-yourself? DP is quite worried about us getting it, I think. A child who has just left DS's nursery has since been diagnosed with it, so everyone has to be on the lookout.

alittlebitshy · 13/07/2009 10:21

miamla oh no. (am feling relieved that you didn't see dd on thurs as it's been at her school so i might have accused her to carrying it lol).

What came first? the temperature? (is what everyone we know who has had it has said so far).

poor you.

buckets but at your response. will remember that (not that i ever get my arse slapped/pinched, i don't really atrract... anyone really).

Miamla · 13/07/2009 10:44

no, not really. just that we need to keep hydrated and keep an eye out for a love-bite type rash. apparently if the rash arrives its serious. its not me for six already. i have even less mental capacity than i had before, haven't got enough energy to walk and thank goodness for the delete key otherwise this would make no sense!

lol, DP has just asked why i don't phone you lot and talk to you instead of typing on here. gah! men! they have no idea about some things and he's a forum user himself!

he has just made a lovely plate of scrambled egg on toast for me though so he's not all bad ooh and he's just delivered a cup of tea!

DP told me this morning that one of the girls i spent time with last friday, got sent home from work with pig flu on monday. he didn't tell me though because he didn't want to worry me

ok, for your amusement here's a paragraph with no use of the delte button ooh and he was going so well hmm that he was meant to be 'it' lol what else sha ll i tell you aout good grief its a good job i'm not working as an audio typist today, there you go, a little none knwon known even fact about me that i used to be an audio typist for the seionr partner of a solictior form firm even! he was a lovely guy behind cloed closed dors doors btu his official personaliyt was that of 'fear'! noone could understand why i enjoyed working for him so much. i even got invited to a barbeque at his house!

Miamla · 13/07/2009 10:47

albs our temperatures are low which according to nhs direct means that our bodies aren't trying to fight infection yet.

oop,s i meant 'knocked me for six' not 'not me for six'
don't think i'd better read teh rest of my post!

OP posts:
alittlebitshy · 13/07/2009 10:50

lol at your non deleted post.

poor you both Can your mum come and take theo?

do you need any shopping? am going later and am also doing school run so could bring anything you need - chocolate for example.

Miamla · 13/07/2009 10:55

i thought the non-delietions would cause a smile. bugger, can't be arsed to correct anymore! you know what i mean!
mum's on holiday in greece
i'm hoping the freezer is going to help, i've already found a loaf of bread in there. i'm also hoping DP's going to not get floored by it and he can pop out later but can i save your offer in case he flags as well?

DS strangely serene today, he's actually sitting still for longer than a few seconds. and the poor thing is really wobbly on his legs like me. he must wonder why he can't walk as well as he could yesterday. i've resorted to crawling with him

OP posts:
alittlebitshy · 13/07/2009 10:58

yes do save the offer.
poor ds. wonder if he thinks his legs have stopped working.

if you have the energy tel us how your nights were at the pil's at the weekend!?

alittlebitshy · 13/07/2009 11:00

and seriously, dh is in this evening so i can always go and do a shop for you then if you need me too, and bring it over. do ask if you want. don't make A go out if he feels crap (i know you wouldn't make him, but you now what i mean).

have you got enought nappies? tea? milk? snacks in case you don't feel like real food?

alittlebitshy · 13/07/2009 11:04

oh no and looking at Fb hotter is poorly too.

hotterpotter · 13/07/2009 11:05

LOL Miamla at your delirious typing

Gah, DS crying, better see what's up...

Miamla · 13/07/2009 11:08

i'll tell you if you don't mind typos! first night, we arrived at 11pm ish. he'd slept most of way in car. pil said hello and started playing with him but as soon as i'd got the cot up , i whisked him off to bed. took half an hour to settle (not bad in a completely strange room, cot etc). he woke a couple of times but settled in cot with a bit of back rubbing reasonably quickly. up at 7 for day so all in all pretty good. Saturday night started off really well. went to bed at 7ish, slept til 11.30 then again til 12.30 then again til 1.30 then again til 3 (you getting the picture!). he decided at 3 that he was ready to get up. i finally convinced him to sleep at 7am after hours of screaming and Dp running away to a different room. i then got teased by fil for being in bed still at 9 I was quite pleased dp did abandon ship because the pressure was off to keep ds quiet (dp was doing the long drive home the next day so wanted him to sleep as much as poss). with hindsight i suspect ds didn't want to sleep because he wanted to do a poo (which arrived quite specatucally just before 7). so whereas ds was trying to stand up to do a poo, i kept lying him down to sleep. anyhow, it was a lesson learnt

albs thank you so much for lending us your travel cot. DS slept amazingly well in it all things considered and it was really easy to put up but sturdy once up. gold star!

OP posts:
Miamla · 13/07/2009 11:11

yup, got enough nappies

i'm reluctant to say yes to you in case we spread the lurgy to your house. especailly this week being 'your week' I've noticed an absence of your mentioning that particular news on here and lol, now either you're going to have to tell them or i will!

htos oots argh hots yay! got there eventually... hae you got someone looking after you?

OP posts:
alittlebitshy · 13/07/2009 11:14

You can always open the door, hide in the licing room while i throw the shopping into to the kitchen or whatever.....

lol at "my week". S'only my birthday on thursday (oh no hope you're better by sat).

alittlebitshy · 13/07/2009 11:15

licing room? i thought it was swine flu not nits . obviously i meant living room .

Miamla · 13/07/2009 11:16

contrary to what albs has said, we honestly don't have lice nor a special room for them!

'only' your birthday? its a special birthday though

oh don't you worry, i'll be better for satruday. my day pass has been sighned and processed and i'm not not using it!

OP posts:
Miamla · 13/07/2009 11:16

obviously

OP posts:
alittlebitshy · 13/07/2009 11:21

i bet you i'll have it by saturday. sod's law.

oh no, you;ve got the spare booster seat. i may need to come and get it so that i can try and order a taxi tomorrow evening (i use the base bit in taxis).

Miamla · 13/07/2009 11:27

lets not panic yet.. i'm planning on being better very soon! see my typing's improving already

OP posts:
hotterpotter · 13/07/2009 11:34

Ooh ALBS are you excited about your birthday? You know there's nothing scary about being 30! Even being 40 hasn't proved too awful so far, although it is very disheartening when I meet someone (eg hot bloke at work ) and they find out I am 40 and they just accept it

Miamla glad your PIL weekend went reasonably well. Do you think you may have left swine flu there as a parting gift?

Have been trying to keep up but had no energy to post [wuss] so sorry I can't remember half of what I've read but

Buckets I thought Torchwood was good but awful too. That poor boy . Looks like that'll be the end of it forever, in which case they wasted James Marsters a bit

Dizzy and No1 at you breaking the bank to see Fleetwood Mac They are Dad music to my ears, lol, but good on you if it's what you want

Well I have been vertical for half an hour, time to go and loll on the sofa for a bit. Good job we areslackers never got our northern meet properly organised as I would have had to cancel on your sorry asses
