Done Dizzy!

LoveBuckets · 12/07/2009 21:00

Hey No1, that's good news about your DNs. It really is good to leave behind all the 'maybes' and move on with the new post-diagnosis life, it's not nice having such a fuzzy vision of the future.

TS We now seem to be playing Russian Roulette with our post-snip fun as DH finally chased his results and they've been lost so he has to do a new test next month when he has time off. Deffo not pg right now but it's still possible!

Oops Find a Pocoyo dvd on Ebay, she will be hypnotised and you will be in stitches.

Watched the last Torchwood last night on Sky+, horrid horrid horrid, really upsetting and just far too graphic. Am finally able to think about it without starting to cry.

Went for a drink with a friend this avo and some bloke sat behind me slapped my arse whilse I was sitting down! I looked round and wimpered 'Ooh!' in a hurt way. He said something like 'Sorry I'm just slapping arses today' and I just said 'Please don't' in a small voice and turned back to my friend, without looking back again. My friend said he was huffing about it til they left, 'FFS' kind of thing, and his friends were getting fed up with him. He was obviously building some case for the defence but I wouldn't turn round and give him the satisfaction of an argument. So, he won't be slapping anyone's arse for a while I think and had his afternoon spoilt in the process. Wanker. DH asked me later if I wouldn't mind washing the area where I'd been touched by another man LOL.

LoveBuckets · 12/07/2009 21:13

Dizzy Have you also thought about letting people use the cafe in the evenings? Might need to organise a volunteer events manager though. This is our local community cafe, it's brill. They have a mailing list and do a fortnightly e-mail with listings - eg Stitch&Bitch, Storytelling open mic, Clothes Swap, drumming/didgeridoo/origami workshops - you name it. It's not huge either.

Buckets - all in hand thank you, my friend who is a musician is already nagging me for the space as is his wife who wants if for a writing group but thanks for the link, I'll have a look - our hours of business are more than likely going to be restricted to 5pm initiall but its all thought for the future

VG thank you, the full whammy is on FB for all to see - agree festival looks fab

LoveBuckets · 12/07/2009 21:24

Exactly VG, I just don't know what he was expecting. I think afterwards he was hoping for an opportunity to soapbox about PCness and loss of humour or something.

pertelote · 12/07/2009 21:25

and indeed Buckets. Really interesting how you responded though - I would have been FURIOUS and probably given the tosser the satisfaction of an argument whilst being too cross/shocked to say anything coherent - whereas as you say your response really did spoil his fun. Well done.

LoveBuckets · 12/07/2009 21:28

Oh I was quite ready to elbow him in the bolleaux if it all kicked off but of course later I realised that simply pouring his drink over him would be equally effective and less liable for litigation.

dizzydixies · 12/07/2009 21:29

have just informed DH of the expensive tickets and bless him having worked 6am - 10pm for the last 4 days to try to make cash to dig us out of financial pit he just smiled and said it would be worth it

have I mentioned how lovely my DH is?

RedLentil · 12/07/2009 21:35

Well done MrDizz.

The other legume is also in the good books. He's away until Tuesday night but let me sleep in until 10 this morning and brought me the papers and breakfast in bed at nine.

He managed to herd the children out with only half the nice things on the tray about their small persons which was fairly good going.

RedLentil · 12/07/2009 21:36

'Let me' sounds a bit

He doesn't normally boot me out at six

dizzydixies · 12/07/2009 21:38
Grin
dizzydixies · 12/07/2009 21:46

buckets that cafe looks fab, no wonder its your fav

LoveBuckets · 12/07/2009 22:07

I know. I am trying to pluck up the courage to go to the storytelling night on my own and sing a folky ballad tale, you know eyes-shut Irish-style. Mind you, have been trying to pluck up the courage for 6m now...

dizzydixies · 12/07/2009 22:22

do it do it do it!!!

oopsacoconut · 12/07/2009 22:33

Buckets - GO FOR IT!

DH watching Titanic so I am going to bed, the only other viable option is slitting my wrists!

Night all.

dizzydixies · 12/07/2009 22:34

night oops, fingers crossed for a better one tonight for you

TwilightSurfer · 13/07/2009 02:27

Buckets at least your dh attempted the next step. Mine's not bothered with his second sample. Watch us be the NEXT!

If ya'll want to plan a meetup in the States based on concert venues. Just up the road (actually where my brother lives) we have the BONNAROO FESTIVAL every year. Folks liken it to Woodstock. Loads of awesome artist perform there. I've never been but would be willing to make the trek if others wanted to go.

Oops may I offer you a fresh pillow and blanket. I'm wishing you sweet dreams. Poor Poppy.

Fleetwood Mac is a Life Time Must. Well done on the tickets. They didn't come anywhere close to me this tour year.

TwilightSurfer · 13/07/2009 03:09

I have officially shut the rest of the world out by putting my headphones on. DD1 is tossing and turning. Poor kid, she has enough energy to stay up till the wee hours but her mood is fightful if allowed. DH is snoring and Reese is sleeping soundly.

Lately I've found Reese pulls her blanket over her head while sleeping so I keep making myself get up to check her....and readjusting her blanket.

Before I go, for the second time, I'll share my musical hideway with all of you. A cute little website called PANDORA allows you FOR FREE to create your own radio stations that play your favorite music 24/7. If you don't like a song, you tell it and it will toss it. If you like a song, it will play it and then find similar songs. Right now I'm submersed in Fleetwood Mac.

Wishing all a wonderful Monday!!!!

SoNotExpectant · 13/07/2009 03:11

Just catching up.

Dizzy - you never know DH might be so grateful for the tickets you can start on No.4 . What's the news from planning? Can you tell us yet? The Big Tent looks great will have to have live link-up for me as well!

We went to the East Coast Park yesterday to see my relatives (sort of - my uncle's brother-in-law and family). He's married to a Singaporean and they have 2 lovely girls (22 & 18) so not really girls I suppose family v.close and they both still live at home and don't seem their age IYSWIM which is quite common here I find. Anyway they are all mad about DS and he was a real charmer and took them for endless walks and followed every dog he could find. He even kept his hat on which he never does for me

Thanks for your thoughts about my friends' DS. He still has his arms bandaged but is doing ok. Having to wear long sleeve tops though to try and stop him pulling at the bandages which is not much fun when it's 33 degrees outside.

Re soft play - is also my saviour and we go at least once a week

Hope you are all sleeping soundly - TS waves if you're still up - your holiday plans sound great.

Buckets can't believe the ar*e slapping. I think the longer I'm here the more parochial and shocked by things I get as it is so tame here I worry that if we stayed too long DS would just be so un-streetwise but then I think that if we still lived in London that he would grow up too soon. Have been reflecting on this quite a lot what with wanting to come back to thinking about going to NY as well then seeing relatives girls yesterday who seem so different even from me at that age as I'd already left home to go to University at their age. Sorry rambling now should go do some work.

Just found out my boss' Mum died at the weekend am v. as is lovely man allowing me to work part time and giving me job back etc with recession on and all (only reason I work here tbh).

Morning all

expectant I agree with vg I think it sounds great. I am always saying to dh how quickly kids seem to grow up. (Or how they seem to be in a rush to do so).
about you're boss mum.

miamla you ok?

dizzy yay on the tickets that is fantastic.
When do you go?
Mine are for the 2nd of November.
My mum now wants my spare ticket.

ts I think the upcoming tour means a new album is about to be released. I am soooo excited. I will be checking out you're link very soon.

oopsacoconut · 13/07/2009 07:43

Morning

been awake for hours! at least shee slept in 3 hour blocks last night and 5.40 seems late compared to yesterday.

Notso - you are right about the slower growing up - it seems to happen so fast in the UK, my cousins from SA are here and at 7 ans 10 are so very innocent compared to the local kids the same age. The know nothing about ipods/internet etc.

DD took a step this morning then fell over and refuses to do it again!

back in a bit DD terrorising cat!
