lauraloo09 · 24/08/2009 21:35

hiya all just a quick post

Sarah's Baptism was great yesterday and she didn't cry once even when the water was poured on her head she was a wee star the reception afterwards was great and it was good to be able to relax after I took my mum and Sarah home (mum watched her for me last night ) I will be posting some photos on within 10mins so please check back if you can.

I hope everyone is well and I hope to catch up with you all tomorrow at some point x

Naat · 24/08/2009 23:19

Hi all!!

Laura, lovely pics, so glad Sarah's baptism was great and you all enjoyed it.

Tee, good luck tomorrow. Mila is having them next week as well, at 11wks Have a good night!!

Mrsmc, wow, DS is putting up a fight, isn't he? Glad tonight wasn't too bad 7 mins is not bad at all! Hope he stays put all night I also fire back whenever people hurt me, I cannot stay silent and you're right, sometimes it makes things a bit harder, but I'm convinced letting people bully us is worse

June, glad the jabs went well today and that Calypso is settled. Hope you have a good rest after a long day + work. Oops at forgetting the pill. I used to have an alarm at 10pm on my mobile that would remind me as I'm crap at those things. Not long till my dad comes and you go to France!

Bigcar, thanks for your answer. I guess it just looks as if they're too small for her, which is weird as they're up to 16lbs and she's 10 something Sounds like you had a lovely wkend Hope the beginning of the new week is just as good

Hello to all the rest of the Juners!

Not a very good night yesterday, hope tonight we have a better one. She's now sleeping and will prob wake up soon for another feed, let's hope I stuff her like a turkey and she sleeps until 4ish

Hope you all have a good night!!

checking in to see how we're all doing.

June - I noticed the jags thing. Thought it was typo at first but then realised it was all our resident scotties saying it.

After weeks of being manic and doing hundreds of things on my to do list I did bugger all yesterday. Even had a 1.2 hour soak in the bath, reading a book whilst dd slept.

Got a busier day today, off to the post office this morning, then need to pack as I'm taking the girls to Wales this evening to visit my parents. It's my last chance to see the house I grew up in before they sell it and move to gloucestershire near me. At 2pm I've got a session with a personal trainer!!! [absolutely bloody dreading it emoticon]

I had a personal trainer for 6 months in early 2006. I was nearly 5 stone lighter and a whole lot fitter then than now and it was still agonising every time I saw her. Can't afford to do it now (time or money) but get 3 sessions as part of my joining the gym package so need to take the plunge.

Hope you are all doing well

bigcar · 25/08/2009 15:04

afternoon all

June, hope C is better today, it's really not nice having to have them upset by jabs is it?! E had his second lot this afternoon, just one more lot for him now and that's it for a while We will sort of be doing baby signing with E as dd3 is deaf, although she has reasonable hearing with her aids, she's still quite reliant on sign. Hope you caught up on some sleep!

MrsMcJnr, 7 mins is fab really that's quite good going, hope ds stayed in his bed all night Hope you're all recovering from the sniffles.

tee, hope As jabs went ok

naat, did M let you sleep

silk, I'm still impressed with your recent activities whether child free or not! I think you definitely deserved your soak, sounds bliss Hope the personal trainer isn't too tough. Enjoy visiting you old home!

I'm hoping Es going to be ok after his jabs, he's sleeping like the proverbial baby at the moment, so fingers crossed Dd2 and ds1 are back to school next week and we still haven't got round to doing their homework, really must get arse in gear or we'll be sitting here next wednesday evening having a panic

Hope you're all enjoying the sun and avoiding the rain, we got pissed on slightly damp earlier! Waves to all

bigcar · 25/08/2009 15:10

laura, lovely photos, especially Ss gorgeous smile, so pleased it went well

have put a couple of photos of our chessington trip on my profile

ermintrude13 · 25/08/2009 15:15

Back from holiday - hellish caravan site and rubbish weather but Edinburgh itself was lovely and we made the best of it - I did a lot of feedin' 'n readin'!

Can't possibly catch up with everyone but June and lauraloo those are lovely pics, MrsMc I'm glad your DH is talking the talk about how much he appreciates you, but make sure he walks the walk too! Naat the reusables are much more bulky and seem tighter round the waist but the Tots Bots have elasticated waistbands and they do 'give' as your LO bends. I think she'd let you know if she was uncomfortable. They look so cute in the terrytowelling though, don't you think? .

8-wk GP check-up tomorrow and Arthur's first jabs (or should I say jags, since I've just come back from bonnie Scotland ?) Not sure what they do in terms of internals etc here - my pelvic floor is probably intangible - no problem with incontinence but I fear that nothing down there is ever going to fit like a glove .

More laundry beckons. Wish it wasn't raining!

bigcar · 25/08/2009 15:36

erm, sorry to hear the hols weren't great, at least it sounds like you got to put your feet up a bit? Hope tomorrows appointments go ok

Tee2072 · 25/08/2009 17:21

Hi all

Adam got his first jabs today. Came through like a trouper...well a crying his head off trouper! Then he fell asleep in his pram on the way home (we walk, we have no car!) and had a bottle. Then fell asleep and had the longest nap of his life. Then woke up, cried some more. No fever, I think he just feels 'off'. He's getting the treat now of sleeping against mummy's chest. I have calpol at the ready, but HV agreed that I shouldn't give it if he's not having fever. I'm hoping he'll just sleep it all away!

OP posts:
Naat · 26/08/2009 11:00

Hello Juners!

Tee, hope Adam had a smooth night. Tomorrow is BGC day for Mila

Ermin, welcome back!! Sorry to hear about the weather but glad you managed to get some rest Good luck today with the jabs. Yes, they look as bumble bees in my opinion

Bigcar, no, no good sleep either the night before last or last night She has not got an odd dislike of burping time (although she really really needs it) and starts crying like mad as soon as you try to burp her She gets so crossed sometimes I've sort of given in and let her sleep, which obviously ends up badly as she wakes after 10min due to all the air she has inside Last night she screeeeeeeeeeeeaaamed whenever I try to burp her so she ended up "falling asleep" next to me and this morning as soon as she fed she did some projectile vomit, of course, thanks to all the trapped air she had accumulated before... Grrrr I've now decided that no matter how she screams, she must burp before falling asleep or continue feeding Hope E had a good night

Silk, oh that bath sounds bliss! HOw did it go with the personal trainer? HOpe you're enjoying your time with your parents and DC

Anyway, I feel like a zombie now after two nights of bad sleep. I'm hoping to catch a nap this afternoon when Mila does. I must now get on with loads of housework unfortunately and some dissertation work as well. Long day for Naat!

HOpe you're having a good day, Juners!

(((waves)))

June2009 · 26/08/2009 12:02

heya, got about 5 minutes break...

Calypso was back to her normal self the day after the jabs but hasn't slept through the night like she had started doing pre-jabs.
I did give her calpol, was told to make sure it was sugar free or they can go hyper.

I'm starting to feel a bit down, haven't managed to catch up on sleep properly, we're going to france next week and nothing is packed and I have spots!! Work is hectic and I really wish I could just concentrate on the baby, I haven't lost any weight in the past two weeks and I'm shattered!

silk did you feel ready to start training again or did you just nip it in the bud? I don't feel ready yet but I probably should just go (you get used to the routine quickly.)
I like the personal trainers to be tough and push me, otherwise it's not good value for money ;)

silkcushion · 26/08/2009 15:25

Naat - yr bumbo will be with you within 5 days apparently.

Personal training - would have rather scooped my eyeballs out with spoons that join the gym and do this but you have to start some time. really need to get rid of this weight and be healthy (for my two little girls). He certainly pushed me - thought my lungs would explode and my legs would collapse. Luckily neither happened but I am aching like hell today.

Just catching up whilst my two little monkeys have a sleep (in fact Granny is too - think we wore her out)

June2009 · 26/08/2009 20:19

silk how did the creche work out at the gym? what do they actually do with the babies?
I think a branch of my gym has a creche as well.

littleS Louise etc! hope you're well!

silkcushion · 26/08/2009 22:37

June - the creche was very similar to dd1's nursery. Loads of toys, brightly coloured and decorated rooms. All the staff are training for or have NVQs in childcare and have been CRB checked. The creche is ofsted registered so they have limited numebrs of children per carer depending on the child's age.

Reality for older children (up to 2 yrs old in one room) was a sort of supervised play. When I went back to pick up Eleri she was being cuddled by one member of staff and cooed over by 2 others! Seemingly they'd fed her, changed a big poo and let her play under a baby gym thing for a while.

I guess leaving yr baby for the first time is quite a big thing normally. However, with second children you are more relaxed (or I am certainly) plus I have had Megan in nursery since she was 3 months old and she loves it. Also Eleri starts nursery for real full time on Sept 21st. In comparison to that a hour at the gym creche is not so dramatic. Did help though that I met the creche manager when viewing the gym last week and liked her straight away. If my gut feel about her/them was not ok I wouldn't have left her.

June2009 · 26/08/2009 22:47

naat someone in my group said they gave hteir baby calpol half an hour before the jab and she was completely fine.

silk yeah I'm really worried about leaving lo with anyone

MrsMcJnr · 26/08/2009 23:26

Hey ladies just a quickie from me, we seem to be very busy at the moment with friends in town and passing through ? its lovely . Went to see a friend today who is back on holiday. She moved back to Manchester in April with her bubby and baby boy, it was fabulous to catch up with them but made me realise how much I miss her

Aaliyah is rolling and laughing and is generally being a poppet. Xavier trashes his room every time we put him down for a nap or down for the night nights are better than naps ? at least he goes to sleep eventually! Any tips??

Tee ? sorry to hear Adam was a bit off after his jags, Aaliyah was similar, she slept an awful lot that day. I gave her Calpol as a preventative measure just after the jags.

Laura ? lovely photos glad all went well. Sarah?s dress is so pretty

Naat - hope the BCG goes well and that you get more sleep tonight

Silkcushion ? very of your bath & book combo! Think you deserved it though. The personal training sounded hard. I think Davina?s DVD is enough for me at the mo. I am also trying to do Scottish Slimmers but keep eating too many calories

Hey Bigcar lovely photos. Edward looks very happy in his sling, must try mine again

Ermintrude ? welcome back. So, a good old Scottish summer hey? Glad you had a good time though

June ? sorry to hear you are feeling a bit low sounds like you have a lot on your plate, don?t do too much now.

Right, bed time. Hope you all have a good night

Tee2072 · 27/08/2009 07:41

Morning all.

Adam slept from 2100 to 0600 last night! Dare I hope this will be true from now on?

Re: calpol and jabs...both the GP and the HV said that they don't agree with giving it if A does not have a fever, and I agree with them. But I am very anti-meds that aren't needed.

OP posts:
Naat · 27/08/2009 09:03

Morning Juners!

Tee, wow!! Great night, lady!! Fingers crossed for a repeat tonight

Mrsmc, oh DS is still fighting it, isn't he? Feisty boy Glad to hear you caught up with your friend. I still haven't had any friend of mine on visit (DH has) but I imagine it's both exciting and sad, as you realise you miss them...

June, not excited at all about today's jab. On top of that she woke up sneezing quite a lot this morning and I started having second thoughts. No more sneezes in the last hour, hope it goes on like that Sorry to hear you're feeling exhausted, sweetie. I can only imagine what it is to have heavy work and then preparing for a trip + Calypso. I really hope you can have some well deserved rest once you get to France

Silk, thank you so much! I'll let you know as soon as it arrives. Your gym sounds absolutely fab! And the creche sounds like a place you can leave Megan with complete peace of mind Very happy for you (although everything aches today and you don't feel as happy ).

Hello to everyone else!!!

Right, a better night last night. Mila went to bed at 11.30, woke up at 1.20 fed for 15min and went straight to bed at 1.40 until 5.00... Unfortunately then she woke up at 6.30 and was smiling away so as to let me know it was time to get up

She's so active these days! She hates lying down whenever she's awake, she wants to be in a sitting position all the time. She's also saying lots of "agu" (something we in LatAm usually say to babies from the early weeks and eventually they repeat after you ). She's actually "aguing" along all day these days . Do you do something similar here?

Right, dissertation work now that Mila is taking a nap and then I should get ready for the jab trip

I'll upload some pics now onto my profile

Hope you have a lovely day Juners!!!

LittleSarah · 27/08/2009 10:10

Hello all

Sorry not to have posted in a while!

Things going well here, Alex has slept from 7pm-7am the last few nights so I have my fingers tightly crossed it continues!

Molly has started school, she seems to be enjoying herself and doing fine but generally says 'I can't remember' every time I ask what she has been doing! It is nice to have some quiet mornings with Alexander.

Been out and about a lot more - probably thanks to more sleep - which is why I've been neglecting mumsnet. Also dh and I are thinking of starting a business so we are in the very early planning stages. As I am at home of course I will be doing most of the research and so, which is exciting but daunting!

Will try and catch up with some of you now!

Naat - Sorry to hear your sleep is still quite disturbed, that is very hard, I hope your're managing to nap sometimes.

Tee - Great work by your wee man, know doubt like me you're just hoping it continues!

MrsMcJnr - Laughing here too, or at least seems like it to me! But no rolling as yet, your wee Aaliyah is doing grand. I do think Alex may be a thumbsucker (despite the dummy), a few times now he has managed to get it in there and is often sucking on his hand... His sister never did that (although I did, and sometimes still do! )

Hi June! Hope you are feeling a little better. It all does feel like a never ending carousel sometimes with nothing ever getting quite done. I have not even weighed myself recently, can't bear to! I'm going to start a diet in a couple of weeks when Molly is settled in school but at the moment I am rather allowing myself too many treats!

Silk - Glad you got a chance to go to the gym - well done! I am hoping to start a ballet class again soon, I did mention already I think! Oops. Anyway, new term starts at the end of September so hopefully I shall be pirouetting away in no time.

Ermin - Welcome back! Sorry about the weather, I didn't think it had been so bad recently, I guess I am just used to it! Feeding and reading sounds great though, that is what I am doing with my quiet mornings mainly!

Laura - Glad the baptism went so well!

That's all for now ladies, have lovely days all.

LittleSarah · 27/08/2009 10:11

no doubt not know doubt! Urgh.

chocciedooby · 27/08/2009 12:50

Hi everyone. I have been reading your posts as often as I can but my life is soooo busy with my 3 little treasures .

Now I can't remember who said what etc....

Tee* - thats a great nights sleep

Eleni has been doing well too. Sleeping from about 10.30 until 7 or 8am every day with the odd blip now and again.

Littlesarah - setting up a business!! Wow lady you are remarkable.

Mrsmc - I was so sad to read about your recent troubles with dh I hope things have settled down a bit for you but remember that you can always rant on here. We all need support and I can see that many of you have been great on here. So glad you enjoyed your friends being over. Sounds like it was perfect timimg to help life your spirits. Chin up.

June - your birth story It was very moving and actually sounded very similar to my first apart frm the fact that I never had a CS. You went through so much physically and emotionally that you should now be proud of what you achieved and your baby is gorgeous

hi Naat- hope the BCG was ok.

Ermin - sorry to hear about the campsite. We have just had a weeks holiday in the Southwest of Ireland and boy did we have problems with our accommodation too. We spent the first half of the week dealing with problems in the house etc.Really put a dampner on things but ended up having a fab hols.We paid a lot of money to rent the house but it was filthy to say the least and so many things were damaged or not working.

Some of you have mentioned "implants". Do you mean the coil?

I had the Mirena a few years ago for 2 years and for those of you that have just had it put in or are thinking of having it, please bear in mind it can take ages to settle down.
I bled for 9 months and stuck with it. it served its purpose (not many other options for contraception for me)but I beleive turned my into a "she devil" with major pmt each month and my libido also suffered. It just didn't suit me but I know others that love it.

I am considering the copper coil. Anyone have this?

chocciedooby · 27/08/2009 12:53

Still no period here. When does it come? I am having awful pains but no bleeding.(sorry if tmi).

June2009 · 27/08/2009 13:24

hey littleS We run our own business and never looked back. Even when i was 9 months pg and overwhelmed, i thought i needed an assistant, never that i needed another job
Good luck with it all, it's hardword but rewarding.

choccie I think if you're not taking any kind of contraception at the moment your periods will come when they want :D IT really varies.
The implant is a little matchstick implanted in your arm that releases oestrogen (I think?) in your body, works for 3 years, you can have it taken out before that. has unpleasant side effects on some people, I'm still considering it though. I have forgotten my pill yesterday AGAIN. Thanks for reading my story.

ok time to go and get the lo weighed...

Naat · 27/08/2009 15:30

Hi all

We're back from the BCG appt. DH went in with Mila (I cannot bear these things) and she was a star... she only gave one big scream... breathed and then another smaller one and that was that I was crying outside, apparently more than her What a chicken I am!

Choccie, sorry to hear you had to deal with issues at your rented place but glad you managed to enjoy your hols anyway. Elina is still a star a night, I can see

LittleS, another brilliant sleeper Mr Alex! Glad to hear he's still sleeping well.

June, oops that pill keeps slipping your mind =S I sympathise... Good luck at the baby clinic

xxx

bigcar · 27/08/2009 15:47

afternoon all

tee, that was some good sleep long may it continue!

naat, yes! we do the agu noise definitely, E is chatting quite a lot now, it's lovely isn't it Hope the jabs went ok today.

june, hope your feeling better today, it'll all be worth it when you get to see your family next week, bet they're all looking forward to a cuddle with C Hope C didn't object too much to being weighed

silk, hope the aching has worn off and you're now feeling the benefits of your workout, I really need to get off my arse and do a lot more, I'm seeing the physio again next week so we'll see what she says. Well done you

MrsMcJnr, how lovely to catch up with friends! How's things with dh at the moment? Well done A, E still hasn't quite managed to roll, I reckon he's got too much weight to shift The best thing to do with bed time is to keep whatever you do as calm as possible, there are many things you can try, look at the sleep section for some tips. Just keep in mind that he has a new found freedom being able to get out of bed himself now so it takes a bit of time to adjust and get used to it, it's still early days and a bit of a novelty as with everything else, repeat mantra, it will get better

littles, lovely sleep there, it makes a world of difference doesn't it?! So pleased to hear Molly is enjoying school, I always forget the Scottish schools go back before us down here I'm looking forward to the dcs going back to school next week so I can put Edward down on the floor without worrying that one of them will trip over him Is Molly doing half days for a couple of weeks to settle in? Dd2 does ballet and loves it, dd1 used to do up until easter but school work has had to take over (A levels) she was really good, she definitely didn't get her flexibility and ability from me It's a great form of exercise, dd1 is not impressed with the weight she has put on since she stopped, not very much in my book but enough to bother her!

choccie, so pleased to hear another of our babies is sleeping well! What a shame about your holiday home, hope the rest of the holiday was a sucess

Edward was fine after his jabs, a little grisly for a couple of hours tues evening but nothing major, lots of cuddles sorted him out Dd3 is much better now, she's just very over tired and can't seem to nap during the day, pulling ds1s hair seems to calm her for some reason don't know what that's all about!

waves to all

Naat · 27/08/2009 15:50
