Just posted a little post on the weight loss thread so sorry when i repeat alot in here. Sorry haven't been on for ages, I really haven't been feeling very well. I have up and down days, up days when I think I feel fine so I try and be this wonderful mummy and entertain DD allday, clean my house etc, and then I pay for it a couple of days later when I have my very severe gall bladder pain I'm counting down till my operation. 3 weeks...J is really good, DD is really good, just feeling a little left out, she just wants her Mommy back. I've been on this very very strict diet of fruit, vegetables and the odd bit of meat or fish for a little over a month now, and I've lost just over a stone on it. J is now 9 weeks old and I'm back at my pre-pregnancy weight, I've lost just over 3 stone in total which makes me in one way, but in another way, because I don't feel good inside, and Id have rather of been dieting properly, instead of this stupid strict way. Someday's I think I'd rather eat nothing, than stupid plain salad again, because I'm so fed up...people keep saying to me "But you look so good", and I think I'd rather feel good than look good, but no-one seems to understand that....hmmm I want the sunshine back too lol

FiKelly · 07/07/2009 09:07

btw forgot to tell you all yesterday that dh chose socks for ds that matched colours of his clothes.. what's wrong with that you're now thinking? they were navy and red... and said wednesday lol

FiKelly · 07/07/2009 09:14

jael i'd want to feel good inside too.. 3wks to go you must be counting down the hours let alone the days. been thinking about you over last few days.. glad you're getting some good days.. please don't over do it though as your bad days sound awfully painful.

FiKelly · 07/07/2009 12:03

I've also posted on the weight loss thread.. twas not good news this wk

pulapula · 07/07/2009 12:36

Afternoon ladies,

Saw my HV this morning. S is now 12lb 2.5oz so gaining well. We spoke at length about how i was feeling, my dad's cancer, my relationship with my DCs/DH, and she advised me to get an appointment with my GP to talk through options. She seemed to think i would have to stop BF if i was on anti-Ds but i know that's not necessarily the case from discussions here. Just spent an hour trying to settle S and he's finally flaked out on me so i will be trying to move him soon so i can get some lunch (just scoffed 3 choc biscuits to keep me going so not great for my weight loss diet). She also thought be watching him he might have reflux so I will be mentioning it to my GP at Sam's 8 week check tomorrow. She also says he has the angriest cry she's heard from a small baby for a looooooong time and that he is a fiesty little boy, a bit like her third child was. And that i shouldn't take it personally. I think she's great.

Jennster · 07/07/2009 13:11

tummum It's difficult to say whether you will get periods. If you took the minipill before and didn't get periods, then it's unlikely you won't while still bf. Not everybody has their periods stop while on the minipill. If your periods have come back already then there is a chance that taking the minipill might tip you back to not having them iyswim.

Pula Print this out and give to your GP when you go for the chat about Antidepressants. Just to be clear, it's SERTRALINE that is the safest while BF, although others can also be taken. The drugsline number is on the info sheet, but you are likely to get a quicker response if they are emailed. The email address is on the information sheet.

pulapula · 07/07/2009 13:32

I never got periods whilst on the minipill, although i think i'm the type not to get them until i stop BF completely.

Momino · 07/07/2009 13:33

Hi all. Harper's appointment went fine and consultant said he is 97% certain she doesn't have hip problems. He's referred her for an ultrasound so that we're 100% though. I'm not worried anyway . dd1 came with me and was very good and made H smile when consultant was checking her hips. dd2 was at a friend's playing so all was well. and I got exercise from the 4 mile walk with double buggy!

tummum, hope you get the scan date through quickly.

jael, i know what you're saying about feeling good inside. losing weight is lovely but much better when you're feeling healthy and happy on the inside - hope that happens soon and 3 weeks goes quickly.

pula, lol at S's 'angry' cry. you won't need to worry. when dd2 was a few days old, MW said she'd never heard such an angry cry from a LO. indeed I worried when i heard her. now, she's a very placid, happy and laid back child (well, when she's not in a terrible two tantrum anyway ). i bet S calms down as he grows.

Harper had a very unsettled night last night. i think she's got a cold as she wriggled and snuffled the entire night. kept me awake as well [yawn].

hope you're all well today.

Oooh, weird new MN format, not sure if I like it.

Pula your HV sounds lovely. Hope your 8 week check goes OK.

Jael nice to hear from you. Glad the Op is only a couple of weeks away.

Monimo glad the hip thing went OK.

Thanks for the advice on periods. Like you Pula my periods didn't stop until I completely stopped BFing, so I hope mini-pill won't start them

G has been sleeping too much today, so I figure I will be in for a noisy evening (but hopefully not night!).

runningmonkey · 07/07/2009 17:42

Hi all having an awful day. A has been fighting sleep since last night. Have just managed to get 20mins by lying im bed with her. Have been crying all day

sorry for the me post just don't know what to do - had her checked out by a dr and couldn't find anything wrong.

FiKelly · 07/07/2009 17:44

momino news about the hips and good on you for walking too and fro too.

pula your mentioning the angry cry reminded me of a cry that ds did when he needed fed.. he did a whaahahaha kinda cry with voracious gum chomping and head shaking all at the same time. i used to look at him and wince at the prospect of imminently latching him on to bf

FiKelly · 07/07/2009 17:49

runningm is she feeding ok? or drawing her legs up to her tummy.. wriggling about flailing her arms etc?

runningmonkey · 07/07/2009 18:05

Fi yes she is feeding ok. She is doing a bit of arm flailing. I think maybe she is a bit bunged up as well as she has just dropped off on my chest and breathing through her mouth

Momino · 07/07/2009 18:32

runninmonk, poor you and babe. bit tough to know what to do esp since you even had her checked by doc. did doc at least give any advice? how about calpol if she's bunged up and can't sleep (can they have calpol this young?).

Harper was bunged up last night and tossed/turned the whole night. you're prob right that this is what's bothering A. nnot to mention prob now overtired. as you are! i hope tonight's better so you can get sleep.

OP posts:
FiKelly · 07/07/2009 18:44

runningm been thinking while getting ds ready for bed..

A is prob well over tired and an overtired baby is esp hard to deal with. if she's been crying a lot she'll have been gulping in loads of air and burning heaps of calories too making her feed loads too.. which on a windy tummy just makes her more uncomfortable etc. so she won't settle prob until she gets the wind up or out the other end with some explosive poo. then she'll take a proper whole feed rather than snacking and will help knock her out to sleep. i would give her a bath, then a gentle massage.. you can do circular movements radiating out from her belly button out to the sides using the flat part of your fingers and you can use both hands at the same time.. one each side, get her dressed and warm, take her into a quiet dimly lit/ darkish room, feed her and fingers crossed she settles to sleep. got more ideas too depending on what she's been doing crying / feeding / poo wise

FiKelly · 07/07/2009 18:49

runningm just seen your last post.. the bath may help with her nasal congestion too.. i also have a snot sucking gadget which works but they hate it.

FiKelly · 07/07/2009 18:59

when g was really bunged up about 10days ago she really struggled to sleep lying down. took her to the doc but he gave her the all clear and could do nothing as she was just 5wks. i think it was prob all the gunk running down her throat from her nose IKWYM that caused most trouble. i tilted her crib up at one end with some hard back books and when she wouldn't sleep in it she was sleeping on my shoulder/chest even when i was in bed.

runningmonkey · 07/07/2009 19:08

Ta fi. Have propped cot up a bit already but might do it a bit more. Will try bath and massage too. Am sending dh out for some infacol too. She has just slept for almost an hour on my chest so hopefully that will help a bit.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 07/07/2009 19:11

Fi I don't know whether I'm shuddering more at the snot-sucking gadget or the Wednesday socks on the wrong day. Running Ours are at the same age - I know where you're at. S does the screaming, red face, flailing and constant bloody snacking. She gets overtired and a bit colicky. It's so difficult. She's decided to forget how to latch on properly as well , we're having quite a few problems at the mo and everytime she starts messing about, DH gives me a 'look' that just screams 'formula', but I'm determined this time. He says that giving her a bottle of EBM makes him feel much closer and more involved, I suggestd that perhaps he could come home a litle earlier to be more involved. That got a very dirty look.

Oh God I'm a whiner! I hope everyone is ok, many of you have much bigger problems than me, I'll keep schtum now!!!

Have a lovely evening everyone - M&S ready meals here tonight....

FiKelly · 07/07/2009 19:14

that hour will definitely help her settle and if the infacol doesn't do much check out the dentinox.. that worked better with our ds.

FiKelly · 07/07/2009 19:25

we had our 6wk check today and both of us are hunkydory grace is now 12lbs 7oz. she does still have a granuloma though so have to go back on friday so doc can administer the silver nitrate pencil he gave me the prescription for today. my old hv was round this am to do those mood questions and has given me the all clear.. in fact I scored the same this time as i did with ds.

Febes · 07/07/2009 19:27

Running I hope you have a better night tonight- you must be shattered.

LoobyLou36 · 07/07/2009 19:43

M v.unsettled today. She slept 10.30 till 5am then had a feed and slept till 8 but then everything went pear shaped, i managed to get her a feed at 11.30 but she only had half the quantity she usually does and kept pulling off the breast and crying.

I went into town and she slept in her pram for an hour, tried to bf when i got home but she wouldn't latch so tried a bottle of ff which she wouldn't take more than 2oz and kept crying. she settled down and was playing on her bouncy chair when dh came home so I popped to my nieces in the next road, she did a massive poo when I was away so dh had to bath and change her but she still won't feed either breast or bottle. and keeps crying - have tried gripe water, infacol cos I thought it was wind but she's never been this bad before.

any ideas?

LoobyLou36 · 07/07/2009 19:44

getting worried now as she hasn't had a full feed since 8 this morning
