Morning all,

Well I don't think i have managed to post more than once or even read much since T arrived, though I have been meaning to, missing the chat and keeping up, and wondering how everyone's doing. So I'm afraid I'll ask for a namecheck amnesty! And I'll just write quickly to bookmark the thread and try to be a bit more 'active' later on.

I hope everyone's well anyway. I can't believe our babies are 2-3 months old already! We are enjoying ourselves but have hands full with 2 of them - impressed with those who have more!

Oh dear toddler has just dissolved into screams, better go... really hope to be back later and catch up a bit! x

LoobyLou36 · 18/07/2009 08:49

morning all..

M had a second dose of apple juice/water last night at 5pm, the explosion happened at 6pm! Finally after 10 DAYS!
Was truly a sight to behold - up back, up front thro legs of nappy, thro trousers onto armchair with poor M crying her eyes out . She was fine after a warm bath and a feed .
In fact she fed so much I had to give her a top up . She fell asleep on her bouncy chair at 10 thought it was just a feed break so left her there for a while, transferred her to her cot at 11 and she slept thro till 6am! Yay! Fed her till 7 and put her back in her cot - she's still crashed out. Have had breakfast, cup of tea just getting in shower .

Think having a poo must have calmed her down.

essenceofSES · 18/07/2009 09:41

Morning!

Looby - yay for poo explosion!! O had one after 5 days a couple of weeks back and he then fed loads afterwards as well.

Euromum - good to hear from you

Dandy - congratulations! Really pleased for you!

Gert - sounds like everything's going really well for you!

My laptop seems to be playing up at the moment. Put it on last night and just nothing appeared on the screen. This morning it seems to be ok

We've got my brother and his girlfriend coming over later this afternoon and staying for take away. My brother hasn't seen O for nearly a month so I think he'll notice a difference (nearly 2lb of difference ) and his girlfriend hasn't met O at all yet as she's just moved down from Scotland 2 weeks ago. She sounds quite broody...

FiKelly · 18/07/2009 09:56

hi euro don't worry about not keeping up..
glad to hear you're all ok.

looby wow that is an explosion and then some! she must feel heaps better now.

the anti-biotics are making g very uncomfortable tummy wise.. the pharmacist warned me it could happen and to stop them if it happened. so no more for g as i'm not making her scream in agony with those legs going colicky iyswim after each dose.. will talk to doc on tuesday. the rash is heaps better already.

FiKelly · 18/07/2009 10:41

right while g is calm and smiling on her bouncy chair.. ds and i are off to make birthday cake for dh..

Belgianchocolates · 18/07/2009 10:45

fi I was surprised you GP gave you ABX for eczema anyway. With me (I've got it too) they tend to treat it with antibacterial creams if it looks a bit infected. Glad it's getting better anyway. Hydrocortisone is good stuff. Now it's just a case of keeping g's sking moisturised regularly. I used to do it morning and evening.

I managed to express 120ml today, Yay!

C's discovered her thumb, which is quite cure and means that she gets herself to sleep more easily in the daytime too. She also went from 8.30-5 in the night. Not bad going . She also spent 1.5h under the baby gym entertaining herself yesterday afternoong!

pulapula · 18/07/2009 11:17

Morning all,

S has some dry skin which is getting better with oilatum in the bath every night. Do any other babies have cradle cap? S has some and we have the dentinox cradle cap shampoo but i haven't tried it yet as not worked out the best way to wash his hair. Any tips? I was thinking of wrapping him in a towel and holding him over the big bath but he's quite big now...

Belgianchocolates · 18/07/2009 11:34

pula That's the hairwashing technique I use. C seems to like it. She goes all quiet when I poor the water over her little head.

Hi Euromum I was thinking about you the other day as I'd gone home to Belgium for the weekend 2 weeks ago.

Still in my dressing gown. I suppose I better go and make myself decent. I was doing other stuff 1st though and I really want to dye my hair, so I think I'll do that now.

FiKelly · 18/07/2009 11:41

pula i do same hair wash tech too..

i wasn't too keen on the anti-biotics either so quite happy to stop them..

Momino · 18/07/2009 15:14

Hi all.
euromum, good to see you.
Belgian, how did the hair dye go? really must learn to do mine.
looby, what a relief. better out than in, eh?
ses, glad your laptop is back in business. i am worried about what was said on FB that dell is cr*p (i've got a dell) and lifespan mostly a year... can't afford a new laptop if this one would go. but it hasn't gone so i won't worry about it. yet.
Fi, hope the eczema improves anyway.

we just got back from shopping where i bought dd1 a pair of Gap Jeans and trousers. She's growing so quickly, her wardrobe can't keep up. it was the first time i took her into the changing rooms to try things on and when she tried on the 'long and lean' flared jeans, i nearly had a tear in my eye. she looked so grown up for a 3.5 yr old. where has my baby gone ?

that is why i don't want to rush Harper along. I wish she could stay in this baby stage for longer. sigh.

chicken pox, we decided not to go to our friends' tonight and risk Harper getting chicken pox. whilst I don't mind too much dd1 and 2 getting it, i'd rather Harper be a bit older before being exposed. i think it's the right decision.

momino IKWYM about them growing up quick.. with ds's 3rd birthday approaching in 3wks time he's suddenly looking, talking and behaving more and more like a little boy rather than a little toddler at times. it makes me both happy & proud of him and sad he's not so little all at the same time

i checked out the baby aveeno online and the range looks just perfect.. but now don't know what i should buy for g.. which bath/shampoo/moisturizer do you use?

Momino · 18/07/2009 15:58

Fi, we use aveeno oil (from dd1's prescription) for bath and aveeno lotion (again, prescription) for moisturising. Shampoo, we simply use either baby shampoo or my sis sent something called 'california baby' which is an organic 'all-in-one' shampoo/bath soap gel with a lovely soothing lavender/chamomile natural fragrance. i think you can get the latter at good health food shops or maybe online (?).

I love the gap kids jeans too.. ds is only just growing out of his age 2ones and they still look fantastic.. we have a gap outlet shop fairly close which is great for bargains.

are you going to anything special in tonight to make up for not going to your friends?

FiKelly · 18/07/2009 17:12

ooo great the aveeno is on prescription I'll ask on tuesday when we go back.

Momino · 18/07/2009 17:39

Fi, got dd1's jeans at gap outlet. i love how they do jeans that are just mini versions of ours instead of looking like obvious baby/toddler jeans (usually tapered at cuff/leg).

not doing anything special tonight to make up for not going to our friends' but have put a nice bottle of wine in the fridge .

what is everyone doing tonight? hope all are well.

Momino · 18/07/2009 18:00

happy birthday to your DH, have fun. we're doing a dvd as well .

Febes · 18/07/2009 20:35

Hi for all those babywearers I have just uploaded a photo of DH with both babies in our Kari me sling. We went to Leeds Castle today and couldn't take the buggy through the castle so we put DD on the back and then slipped DS in the front. DD is bid enough to walk but was tired and grumpy so much easier in the sling. On facebook and MN profile.

pulapula · 18/07/2009 20:51

Hi Febes - I've just seen your FB photos and was impressed with your DH carrying both DCs in the sling.

euromum · 18/07/2009 21:16

Febes I saw your dh on fb too - impressive indeed!

Well I am trying to enjoy a bowl of pasta and a catch up here while dh rocks the little one in a bid to pretend that he's not hungry and demanding the boobs again... Dh has had a stomach bug all day so this is my 'reward' for an entire Saturday of full time, full on babies! Never thought I would enjoy doing nothing quite so much on a Saturday night I must say. The total highlight has been getting out for a 25 min 'run' - I am training myself to run 5k by September, with a schedule of walks/runs that get more and more difficult. Doesn't seem too ambitious and I am feeling incredibly virtuous about doing SPORT with my minutes of freedom! Feels good to be doing something to get back in shape I have to say, after dd I spent 6 months bf full time and eating biscuits non-stop to cope with the appetite but needless to say I didn't slim down and didn't feel that great either...

Anyway, many rumblings from other side of room, including nappy ones, so had better go. Ds is a prolific poo-er - Looby yours sounds impressive (and must have been a huge relief to you and your poor dd) but I have been worrying a bit that we get that kind of thing regularly! We are getting through nappies at a ridiculous rate - I am going to get the re-usables out again tomorrow, overcoming my fear of all the washing as well as 2 kids to manage, as the cost of it is making my eyes water.

Anyway, hope everyone's having a nice weekend, whatever you're all up to!

pulapula · 19/07/2009 12:11

Momino- I meant to respond to you the other day- i think i sold 20 items on ebay for my £100- some i got more than i expected, some just the starting price. But its £100 extra which is the main thing .

I have just collected a baby swing i won on ebay for £15 so I hope S likes it- he is actually a lot more settled this week but I figured it would still be useful at times (he always seems to need holding at mealtimes). His colicky episodes seem to have stopped . I feel more normal again- guess the ADs will be taking effect now. DH has noticed a difference too.

Blottedcopybook · 19/07/2009 12:52

Belgian Our coop has red mite too! Yuck! I got something called a sulphur candle from eBay, basically you close up the coop and put this thing inside and light it. You need to leave it for 8-10 hours but it kills everything inside (so make sure the hens aren't in!) You'll need to treat the hens too but it's the quickest and easiest way to get rid.

Dandy Well done!

Babysigning I did it with all of mine but only DS2 signed back and he was later to speak

Teething DS1 and DS2 had their first teeth at 6 months. DD1 broke her first tooth through at a year! My niece was showing signs of teething from 14 weeks but didn't break a tooth until 6 months either.

BLW Yup, did that too! Puree was too much faffing about for me.

This is such a me-me-me post, I'm up to my arms in it just now to the extent that we've postponed the holiday AND we had a Doctor out on Fri night with full haz-mat geat on because NHS24 thought DS2 and DD1 had swine flu (they don't).

Phew!

LoobyLou36 · 19/07/2009 15:29

afternoon all..
having a fairly quiet afternoon here.
M slept 9pm till 6am last night but she is so bunged up and snotty poor love. She's having trouble bf cos she can't breathe thro her nose properly
have just given her some calpol to try and calm her down - what else are you all giving your LO's when snotty?

LoobyLou36 · 19/07/2009 15:33

DH is upstairs painting M's nursery - I was helping but M kept playing up and crying poor thing so gave up. He's up there with beer and the cricket on so don't think he minds too much

Momino · 19/07/2009 15:54

afternoon as well.
looby, hope M's nose is better soon. I don't know what to give. H's nose has been bunged from time to time but I've not done anything for it but to keep wiping it. i know they have those suction things but I've been too timid to try one.

pula, that's great what you sold for on ebay. I have a few things ending soon and the big surpise is my CD on natal hypnotherapy is at nearly £8. The topshop skinny jeans haven't had a bid on yet with 6 hours to go but maybe will have a last minute war [hopeful emoticon]. I think the swing is a good idea. we had one for dd2 but it broke. let me know how S gets along on it.

blotted, glad you don't have swine flu in the house!

must get some cleaning done. will be back on to post later.

Hope everyone is well and avoiding the downpour activity (unlike us).
