phoenix if you're concerned i would. Bill has gained weight at a rapid pace but has also fed almost non stop until the past 3-4 weeks where he has taken a dummy instead of a boob which is why i think in the beginning despite being sick gained weight as he was on non-stop!

Phoenix · 21/09/2009 20:14

I'm hoping to get him weighed tomorrow so we'll see. Last time he was weighed was the 24th Aug (6wk old) where he weighed 10lb 10lbs. Ds1 weighed 12lb 9oz at 6wks and 15lb 9oz at 10wks.

QueenFee · 21/09/2009 20:58

garlic one study found that babies preferred the tase of milk after the mother had eaten garlic. Never had any probs with mine and I eat tons of the stuff. However it can differ from person to person (or baby to baby!) as my sister couldn't eat tomatoes when she was feeding as it upset her bubs.
lydia glad it seems to be working for you must be such a relief

BonzoDoodah · 21/09/2009 22:04

Thanks for the breast compression info whoever it was posted it. I'm going to try that to try and get more than a couple of hours sleep at a time at night ZZzzzzzzzzzzzzz

phoenix lovely pics.

Devil Toddler - my DD is just 2 and gosh is she a horror some days - sounds like they are all reacting the same. Demonic (with us) then angelic (with the baby). thank goodness it is that way round.

Oh my goodness my DS is in his bouncy chair by my feet wearing a brightly coloured stripy babygrow with incorporated scratch mits. He has seen his stripy arm and is staring at it and is then waving his hand randomly - and then going completely cross-eyed trying to follow this weird bright thing.

QueenFee · 21/09/2009 22:19

hope it works Bonzo
toddlers DS is getting a little better but he has started biting and hitting since Alfie arrived which is something he had grownout of long ago. Very draining. Maybe going to school will help. He has been dry since he started nursery (1 week and counting yes!) so maybe he will start growing up again. He is really sweet with Alfie most of the time but on occasion will randomly poke his eye out or pinch him to make him cry. I think he has found it really hard to adjust to not being the baby anymore.

Misspaella · 22/09/2009 08:08

Hi everyone
Phoenix lovely pics. If you are really worried about Noah get him weighed but honestly don't worry too much. I have the reverse situation; DS1 was way lighter than this LO comparing the red books. I am a different size to all my sisters and so are my brothers to each other. Our LO's are bound to be different. Anyway hope you get put at ease.

QF ur boy is a whopper! That is fab!

Chebelle what a great change of career you are thinking about. I did my degree in Marketing and Advertising but decided that life wasn't for me in my mid 20's so have been working as an Executive Assistant. I really enjoy the work but it is hard to be a working mother alongside assisting Board Level Directors. Not sure what I will do that works with balancing home life. I want little hours and lots of money.

It was my 3yr wedding anniversary last night and we escaped for 3 hours for a cheeky drink and a curry. YUM. Of course, Tristan decided to feed at 2:30am last night (he has been going to 5am the last few nights) so I feel tired and have heartburn! I literally grabbed him out the basket, put on boob, then back to basket. I didn't even change his nappy (it didn't smell of a poo so thought why bother....) Nevermind.

DH's work has pretty much finished and starting to get anxious about ££. Kind of pathetic but I am holding out for the lottery now.

Hope everyone has a good day.

So Marco slept through the night for the first time night before last! WOOT WOOT!! He went from 11:30pm to 7:30 am, ate and back to sleep til 9am. Then, as an added bonus, went for his 3 hour nap AT THE SAME TIME as toddler. Of course I took advantage and had a nap myself... to hell with the housework! I was giddy with all the sleep I got that day! LOL.

Marco doesnt go for his 2 month check up until Oct 1st, but I am not looking forward to the jabs. I think I will send DH! I will have to deal with the fussy baby afterwards, so at least he can take care of the screams! I am guessing his weight will be around the 15lb mark (up from 11lbs at one month and 7lbs 5oz at birth). He is a little piggy!

toddlers Sofia has been giving me so much trouble when I put her down in her crib. She screams for a good 10 minutes before falling asleep at nap time, and now the same at bed time. I feel sorry for my eldest who shares a room with her and has to listen to this every night.

potty training Not sure when to start with Sofia. She will be 2 at the end of October. Its been soooo long since I potty trained (DS1 will be 10 next month). I dread starting this process with a newborn to worry about. Was thinking about waiting until spring when we can be outdoors a little more, and when the baby will be older as well. Any thoughts??

Beccabump · 22/09/2009 17:02

Hello ladies!

After so long in the wilderness without the internet I am finally back up and running!

I haven't had a chance to catch up on posts yet but will have a good read asap!

Quick update!

DS - wow is he different to DD, he is sleeping, well, like a baby! He goes down between 8.30pm and 9pm, wakes for a 15 min feed at 4am, then sleeps till 7.30! He feeds really well during the day too and we are starting to get a little longer between feeds. He's had his 1st set of jabs and has his next lot next week I think. He was ok, just a little temp and v fussy the next day.

DD - aaaaaargh! She's really been affected by the move, the new baby and the terrible two and a halfs! Yesterday she actually made me cry through being so deliberately difficult I am trying very hard to positively re-enforce her good behaviour but it is hard to find some at times! She's starting to become more settled at nursery though so I am hoping we are coming through the worst for now.

Me - saw my doc a few weeks ago (think I posted about it) as I was still really sore down below and I was told I had an abscess where my stitches had been. Saw another doc again this week after lots of visits and anti-biotics making me and DS feel yucky and was told I hadn't even been on the right ones! I needed gram- instead of gram+ anti-b's so I now have another week of even worse tablets to take very fed up with being so sore and uncomfortable. Nurse I saw was fab though and agreed that the external area is still raw and not healing well. Dr has now told me to slather myself in sudocrem!

Hope all is well out there, hugs xxx

Phoenix · 22/09/2009 17:24

I had Noah weighed and he's now 13lb 1oz and is nicely following the 50th centile line still Since i put on here about him been sick he hasn't hardly done it

Becca - nice to see you back, hope the move went well. for dd's behaviour.

Babyblue - At 2yr old i personally wouldn't rush into potty training unless you really think she's ready. I tried ds1 a few times and got nowhere. 1mth after his 3rd birthday something just clicked with him and he just did it no problems or accidents. But they do say girls get it quicker than boys but i wouldn't know

JetLi · 22/09/2009 22:00

Hi all
Weighed again today - she's put on 1lb in 2 weeks and is nailed beautifully to that 50th centile. Going to try to relax a bit...!
Hetty's passport came back tody so we're looking to book for France in October Can't wait for some stinky cheese and some vin rouge.
She had her first night in the Amby hammock last night. Bit of a struggle to get her in properly at first and she looked utterly confused, but she eventually went to sleep at 11pm-ish and went through until 8:15 this morning!! The moses basket is just about too small now - not much air circulation around her head.
Welcome back Becca
Missp - I'm very of your frozen stash of breast milk. I have 1 paltry 120ml pouch in the freezer and that's all. Must get my ass in gear. I tend to pump and then it gets given more or less straight away.
Phoenix - glad the sickness is abating for you all.
Congrats babyblue on your good nights sleep
Sorry you're having a shit time activity - wish you lived closer and we could get together. Hetty was grim for the 2 days following her jabs so I feel your pain. I'm quite liking the Baby Bjorn and picked up a second hand one on ebay as I'd already bought the Close sling. Hetty can look around a bit more in the BB. I'm thinking of ditching the pram next Monday on the pram push and use a sling instead. I'm shit with the pushchair - I need L-Plates honestly - always catching the back of peoples ankles and stuff.
Good luck with the potty training Queenfee - hope it is going well.

Misspaella · 23/09/2009 09:13

Morning
Jetli I can't believe how long Hetty slept for. You must so refreshed(?) Yeah right. I am guessing you will need more nights like this.

EMB stash I have so mucn but not sure what I am stocking it for . I have been using a double pump (I hired one initially and since bought the Ameda Lactaline dbl pump on ebay last week) so that has helped.

Potty Training personally I would wait. DS1 was 2y 7m before we trained him and it took just a few days as he was older. No accidents when we were out either. DD is now 2 yrs 3m and I am going to leave it a while longer. IME waiting longer means less hassle with accidents. But everyone is different.

Apple sorry to hear that you are feeling lonely. It is hard moving anyway let alone with a newborn and no friends. You will make a community of friends soon. I had no mommy friends for months when DS1 was born 4 yrs ago and all my friends worked and had no kids. I only bonded with 1 other woman from my NCT antenatel course and she lived 30min drive away (and I didn't drive then!). I threw myself into baby groups, investigated the local POST natel NCT activities and went to the Baby Clinic weekly to meet other moms. It worked and I have a great circle of mommy friends. DS1 was about 4 - 5 months though when I started "making friends". It will happen. Shame you left London as we could have met.

OHhh better go. I am getting the feed me calling.

Misspaella · 23/09/2009 09:14

Before I forget
PH congrats on weigh in...what a relief

OUCH Becca hope it gets sorted.

alibobble · 23/09/2009 09:38

miss the lactaline is ace! borrowing one from a friend but never double pump as need to compress while pumping... not enough hands!

activity have a tomy sling you could have. is a bit like the baby bjorn but maybe a wee bit fiddlier. up to you. if ur interested lat me know and then we can email to sort out x

QueenFee · 23/09/2009 21:13

missp you are a very good mother to still be changing nappies at night! I put Alfie in a bigger size at night so he can go till morning without a change... obviously I do change it if he poos but he doesn't.
The other night I woke up to find him fast asleep in the bed next to me I am assuming I got up and plonked him on the boob in my sleep as I had no recollection of it. Sorted - no sleepless nights then

pottytraining my dd was almost 3 and I stressed for months about it then she just came downstairs one day took off her nappy and used the potty. Has been dry with very little accidents ever since (shes now 5!) DS I have been stressing about him too (don't learn my lessons well do I!) and he has just started at school nursery (just turned 3 last month) and they told me to send him in pants and see what happened. Well he obviously decided that he was a big boy now as he has been dry for 2 weeks! Still hasn't got the hang of pooing on the loo though saves it for his night nappies - any tips anyone?

jetli how do you join a pram push we would love that!

Patchybob · 24/09/2009 09:37

QueenFee I am with you on not changing nappies at night anymore. I figure that both my other 2 dc were going thorough the night by now, so didn't get changed, so nore does Max! (Unless he poos)

I decided to change the routiine last night. We had been bathing him at 7pm and then bed by 8pm, waking him for a bottle at 11pm. I was finding 11pm just a killer, too late for me in my knackered state. So last night I did bath at 6.30pm , he was in bed by 7pm (oh so tired) and although he played in his cot once he stirred and realised I hd put hinm down, he then went to sleep. I woke him at 10pm and then he went till 3.15am and then 6am. So pretty much what he was doing already. I hope it continues as it was much more civilised.

Have a good day everyone. DH home tonight after a few days away at work, he has 5 days off now so am going to make the most of him being home! An extra pair of hands, hoorah!

Phoenix · 24/09/2009 11:10

No nappy changing at night here either (unless he poos). Ds1 was sleeping through by this age too Patchy.

alibobble · 24/09/2009 17:09

nappy changes we don't do them anymore either (unless pooey) dd1 didn't start sleeping through till at least 12 weeks. dd2 is 9wks managed till 5.30 from ten last night which was good. polised off 10pm bottle ebm so if I'd have topped her up maybe would have done all night like the night before (till nearer 7) but didn't want to incase couldn't express enough to "catch up" IYSWIM

periods ok how many exclusively BF mums have started again (if not TMI) I thought BF was supposed to stop them or am I paying the price for sleep at night?

potty training dd1 started at 2 1/4 and was done by 2 1/2 but didn't have a 2nd one to look after. She was well ready and would regularly "change" dry nappies.

cotton nappies anyone doing them/done them? Did them for dd1 but not started with dd2 as bf rather than bottle and I can't believe one baby can produce so much liquid poo! will def try again when weaning as saved me a fortune and have all the stuff. Just no time atm.

QueenFee · 24/09/2009 19:41

periods I havent had mine and didn't get them back till I weaned the other 2. However I do know a few bf mums who got them back as early as 3 mths
cottonnappies I have never done them myself but my sister done. One of my friends waited till 4 or 5 months till starting using reusables - maybe you could do that - that way your more in routine and settled down a bit- plus you will still have many months in nappies even then!

Misspaella · 24/09/2009 20:18

Decided to stop changing nappy (few nights in a row now). Tristan seems fine and my other 2 were sleeping through from 11:30pm - 7am by this age so guess it is ok. He isn't though!!! GRRRRRrr

Periods nothing here. I mixed fed both my other 2 DC's and I still didn't get my period til after I stopped BF. Took 3 m after DS1 and 6 weeks exactly after last BF with DD to get so gather it will be the same.

Sling he likes the baby bjorn too. Tristan is very windy so I think being upright helps it come out.

Distraction during feeding LO is nearly 12 weeks. Is it normal that he gets distracted sometimes during a feed? He sometimes pulls off to see what is going on with the other 2 DC's and it drives me mad. I keep having to tell DD to be quiet especially. Hope it doesn't last.

I am going out tomorrow night with the girls and can't wait. Only for a few hours but still. I will be missing 2 feeds (defrosting some milk) and hope my boobs don't get too lumpy and sore.

Hope everyone is having a good night.

alibobble · 24/09/2009 20:33

periods still trying to work out if mine is a result of having coil fitted and then removed... too many hormones!

distracted feeding dd1 was awful for this. Made feeding in public very difficult. DD2 starting to do it a bit but is more used to having to feed on the fly and when she can so less bothered. I took it a sign of intelligence in my child... interested in the world kept me sane when I was frustrated about it!

hi everyone, periods still havent got mine either. had the implant put in yesterday as do not want any more happy accidents! arms is a bit sore today!
activity bill has that in his neck too, sorry i cant offer any advice, i just keep giving it a wipe and hopefully it'll get better. it doesnt help that it gets sweaty too, Bill had a whiff of eau de cheese around his neck yesterday! i think it would be worth checking out some groups in your area. im lucky i met a group of women at aquanatal ive kept in touch with but i remember being so lonely when i was living in manchester when i had dd. none of my friends ever visited and it was hard for me to get anywhere as i didnt drive!
sleep bill goes from 8-12 without a bottle now yippee! but is also awake every 2 hours.
reflux he seems so much happier now he's on this medicine, he's nowhere near as sick and is always smiling now. before he'd only smile when you changed his bum!
distractedfeeding Bill is besotted with dd, his eyes follow her everywhere which is hard when he's feeding but can hear her singing! she's so good with him. she loves bath time now as they go in together and she's allowed to wash him (gently i might add!)
hope everyone has a good day, im going to spend mine researching yet another business venture! anything to stop me from having to go back to a proper job! plus the cost of childcare! we worked out id only need to go back to work for 24 hrs a week on minimum wage to get all weneed to be 'comfortable' but with childcare costs i'd need a full time job with high salary! rediculous! (sp!!)

JetLi · 25/09/2009 20:16

Evening all!
Periods - something certainly happening here cycle-wise, and I've had a couple of short bleeds of only a day or two. Plus after 5 years TTC I'm pretty sure I'm seeing signs of ovulation. I guess I'm paying the price for the full nights sleep
Hope all have a good weekend. DP is home now so I'm having an hour off.
Have taken Hetty in the bath with me twice this week which was lovely - she loves to have a proper kick in the deeper water and when DP whips her out, I top up with hot and have a bit more of a soak whilst he gets her dried and dressed. Bliss!

Phoenix · 25/09/2009 20:26

Does anyone know about reflux? I'm going to take him to the doctors on Monday to see what he thinks. I'm sure there is something wrong with him and a lot points to reflux.
