soooooooooooooooooooooooooo tired again, awful awful AWFUL night here again and by 5am I told dh to please get up and settle her after we administered some calpol too. something has got to give before my sanity does and DH won't be able to help tomorrow as he is early shift so will be leaving for work at 6am

she and DH then slept on till 9.30 while I got up with DD1 & DD2 - I did get to go back to bed for an hour over lunchtime though this has not been how I intended his Father's Day to be so we're off out to drag ourselves to the park via the chemist for some calprofen for Dylan

No1 don't bother with the potty training yet, unless C is starting to show interest in doing it I wouldn't put yourself through it. I'm afraid I'm very personally of the opinion that there is too much pressure to potty train too early and I don't see the need for it at all. DD1 trained herself very easily at the ripe old age of 2.6yrs and DD2 has only just done it aged exactly 3yrs. DD1 is in pants at night still and she'll be 6 in July where as DD2 has been dry at nights since she started to use the potty go figure - all personal choice but I do think it sometimes does more harm than good going for it too early - just my opinion and here are others who persevere earlier - maybe I'm just a lazy slattern of a mother but thats how its done in this house

Sazz if I was dragged into a tent show room I'd pee too - no need for all that nature at all and coming from someone with a joint Geog/Env Science degree who used to be a country Ranger I think thats saying something

I have the most overwhelming desire for full fat coke and I know its only because I'm shattered - wouldn't be worth it though, could you imagine the effect it would have on Dylan ?!?

expectant glad Singapore is finally dragging itself into the 21st century with its foodstuff!!!

Re potty training. I am all up for waiting till she is ready cos I AM a lazy slattern
However we started a while ago but then we both got lazy. She takes nappy off when she has poo. Like half hour ago emptied contents of nappy on myrug, poked fingers up her bum as I was getting wipes and then smeared all over the rug. (dh only cleaned it all yesterday)
she went through a stage of refusing nappy on shouting 'potty wee wee' but then wanted it back on when she felt something coming. iykwim.
She not done this since before holiday. so I will wiat a bit longer.
She does wear big pant sometimes when she refuses nappy, but doesnt ask for potty at all.
sorry you had a nother rough night dizzy
yay for dry nappy, thats a good sign too.
still not motivated. Cant decide what to do. think will just get in car and decide. too windy for street party with dd poorly ear.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 20/06/2009 15:17

Just sent my first ever rant/moan text to dh about kids stressing me out today.
reply was
oh dear,I'm busy, you should go to street party for an hour.

alittlebitshy · 20/06/2009 16:41

no1 I agree with dizzy that there is no point stressing yourself or C out. I potty trained dd at 2y11m. It took less than a week for wees, but another 2 months for poos. She came out of nighttime pullups at 4.5 i think. I will in no way even consider doing ds any earlier than i did dd - and he has scope for being left a bit later if need be as he won't be at school until he is 3.5 (full time nursery at dd's school)

TwilightSurfer · 20/06/2009 17:05

No1 I too took the potty training lax route with dd1. She only had to be properly trained by 3.5 (when she went into age3-preschool class). I did offer "lessons" & "prizes" at various times between 1 & 3. The summer before her age3-preschool class began she finally decided on her own to DO IT. Night pull-ups were required for a least another 6 months though. So don't stress over it unless you really really have to.

Sazzles I'd have DECKED HIM! Need he be reminded he is OUT NUMBERED in your home. MrTwilight is NOT there to back him up.

LoveBuckets · 20/06/2009 18:10

Hi guys

Had my first grown up sleepover in yonks, went to a party in Worthing and kipped on friend's floor. I fell over on the dance floor but didn't mind because I was trying to get people dancing (my friend was performing so I was being a cheerleader) and then they felt sorry for me! Quite hung over today and have managed to eat a McD's breakfast, cold pizza for lunch and burritos for tea.

Yesterday I achieved Fecking Shopping Genius status by taking 3 kids to Ikea all by myself and buying an armchair. Not sure what I was thinking but it was fine, I wore Kurt in the ringsling but in hindsight DD could have pushed him in one of the kiddy trolleys. Oh and DD was in Snow White costume, DS1 was in his dressing gown and DD had got her facepaints out and done beagles and chihuahuas (apparently) on their cheeks, wrists and feet. It was an Inset day so I just let them get on with making their own fun.

No1 Tis the best time of year for potty training though, just slather her up in suncream, put an inch of water in the paddling pool and a stairgate across the back door and let her play outside all day long in the nude! Add a big cardboard box to play with and some different containers to try weeing in. At least the mess stays outside! Also good because you can just stuff several pairs of tiny shorts in your bag when out and about. DS1 is 4 and miraculously still fits Kurt's cotton jersey ones so I just take one pair now.

LoveBuckets · 20/06/2009 18:14

Top tip for carseats is to sit them on an old towel/terry nappy on top of a carrier bag. Good for pushchairs too. Haven't worked out a sling version though.

Miamla · 20/06/2009 18:44

just popped on quickly to try and show you a photo of the ballgown i made recently... the purple one

alittlebitshy · 20/06/2009 18:48

buckets I grew up in Worthing

alittlebitshy · 20/06/2009 18:49

miamla - link not working

TwilightSurfer · 20/06/2009 18:53

like it?

Buckets you have me rolling. That sounds like a night that might befall me. (note: i have no idea if that is proper use of befall.) And the Snow White costume on dd1 is super. Funny story: I gave my best friend's son one of dd1's Cinderella costumes because he'd worn out his Snow White one. He ended up wearing that Cinderella dress ALL THE TIME. When visiting his uncle for Easter he required his blue frock and, his uncle (who I've known for a billion years), decided to make it a two-some and found his wife's LIGHT BLUE prom dress.....they both wore BLUE DRESSES that day for the Easter Egg Hunt.

WORD OF THE DAY: resoluteness

My RESOLUTENESS with ending night feeds has proven to be a HUGE SUCCESS!

alittlebitshy · 20/06/2009 18:55

loving the story twlilight. fab!!

LoveBuckets · 20/06/2009 19:31

Oh bless, what a lucky boy to have such a thoughtful uncle!

DH has just nipped out to Asda to try and catch one of their £10 2person tents. There's some camp-out music night happening in September among the ukulele gang. Just got to find someone to have the kids. Again. (We are both in a gig near my birthday in July so have decided to book a b&b for the night.) I initially though a new 2man tent was a bit wasteful and we could borrow one but he pointed out how much fun the kids will have this summer in the garden with it.

More yummy food news, we are planning hoping to go for Greek meze lunch tomorrow with DB, SIL, 3 nephews plus my MIL (FIL is off hobbying thank God.) Will be chaotic, could be catastrophic, but I'm not giving up til I get my dolmades Dagnammit!

Afterwards, DD & I are going to opening of new fairy exhibit at the art gallery, DD taking best dressed fairy contest a bit too seriously. I have customised her grubby bridesmaid's dress to her exact specifications with purple net, yellow feathers and pink flowers glued onto some v manky old wings. Hoping she'll win a prize for lack of adult interference. Will try and get some pics, she's so deadpan about it all.

TwilightSurfer · 20/06/2009 19:34

LOL! I just swiped a picture of the two off my best friend's fb page. Go to my profile to see the Easter Cinderella boys!! Will be taking it off here in 24 hours.

TwilightSurfer · 20/06/2009 19:35

all the talk of tents on here...i find myself pausing every time i go into a store with them and checking over all the choices.

TwilightSurfer · 20/06/2009 19:36

mn profile that is...

sambo303 · 20/06/2009 20:02

hmm well we had a Very Good Night here folks, not sure what that means, maybe the babysleepingfairy was over my way (for once) last night??? reintroduced dream feed at 10.30pm, ds slept til 5am dp lasted less than 5 mins with his settling then brought him in for a feed but at least we got a further 3 hours kip.

dizzy very exciting news re potential number 4; straight after I had ds I thought 4 would be the perfect number of children

lentil I'm not back at work yet got at least 6 more weeks of freedom. Met some childminders today, the one we like is too far for easy drop off

ts love that story about the dresses, that uncle sounds fab indeed

Ladies, there was some talk of a London meet up - are plans afoot and I missed them?

TwilightSurfer · 20/06/2009 20:36

just found out why two friends divorced. seems the husband found out recently he has 9-year old son and his wife of 12 years with whom he has a 10 year old daughter and 6 year old twins thought that WAS NOT a good thing. men can be so dumb!

LoveBuckets · 20/06/2009 21:15

Oh that's just too cute.

dizzydixies · 20/06/2009 21:16

loving the daddy/son cinders outfits - not to try to convince DH
