Was on here earlier bashing the keyboard in absolute rage at DH. I soooo rarely totally lose it with him, but did today . He arrived back being nice though half way through the rant, so you ladies were saved. I was also grring on your behalf sazzles, cc and no1. Hope they have made amends too. Just in time for Father's Day too .

Anyway, DH completed his cycle race in a fantastic time. A good thing after we all got up far too early to get him to the startline. He has however, spent most of the time since his return lying on the floor groaning as it seems that the man flu he's been fighting since midweek has now descended with a vengeance. I can't of course be knackered at all as I haven't cycled 67 miles in 4 hours. Oh no. Nothing compares.

Hooray for the potential no. 4 dizzy. V. excited for you. Any idea what's bothering Dylan? Is it teeth?

Congrats TS on your improving nights. Great when these things work isn't it.

Right, off for now as after searching last summer's threads I unearthed dizzy's amazing malteser tray bake recipe, which I've made industrial quantities of for the church bake sale tomorrow and which, clearly, needs to go through quality control....

poppysocks · 20/06/2009 21:40

Oh and dizzy, don't feel bad about not going to see your Dad tomorrow. You are a fantastic daughter and I'm sure he knows how much you love him and just how difficult it would be to all get over to him, especially with current sleeping issues, cafe empire building. . If it makes you feel any better I don't ever remember even sending my Dad a card. His birthday's v. close to Fathers' Day so that's sort of my excuse, but it's easier than telling him what a disappointment he is. (Can anyone tell that I've been on the gin this evening? )

dizzydixies · 20/06/2009 21:46

poppy well done you, I have 3 boxes of maltesers to make said bake for DH tomorrow as it is his favourite and he's earnt it today I cannot imagine you loosing it but am glad he's cottoned on

Dylan is teething bless her, she's dribbling, has a sore bot and a runny nose and it has to be her back teeth as she has already got 8 at the front - calpol again tonight along with a teething powder and fingers crossed all round

DD1's tooth finally came out tonight during a bit of round and tumble on the couch - all very non dramatic and is now safely tucked under her pillow waiting on the tooth fairy

tooth fairy has had to 'borrow' some pennies from her wellie-bank though as too lazy to get to the fecking bank and cupboards are bare never mind, will only go back into the wellie as thats holding the fund for the much anticipated intendo bless her

poppysocks · 20/06/2009 21:59

Poor Dylan dizzy. Maybe there'll be some sense of order in the universe and now that E has lost hers, Dylan's will come through and all will be right with the world.

dizzydixies · 20/06/2009 22:06

we can live in hope can't we

can either you or VG remind me of the name of those farms you stayed at, was talking to my cousin about them but couldn't remember the website

TwilightSurfer · 21/06/2009 01:48

Dizzy I love toothfairy time. I can't wait for that in our house. DD1 can't either.

Just fed Reese some cereal and offered her a bottle. Suprisingly she doesn't really eat or drink a lot. DH said that's how it's been the past few nights. She didn't complain about going from highchair to bed. I put her down with her pacey and straighten the blankets. She just looked up at me like a pilot prepping for flight. She'll roll and rock around in her bed for a few more minutes, humming to herself. Then she'll drift off into dreamland. I can't say it enough that Reese is a GOLDEN CHILD as far as bed is concerned. When it's time, you put her down and she understands. No fussing. Sazzles can attest to how different my two are in that department. DD1 could/should learn a thing or two from her sister!

I hope everyone's Father's Day goes well. DH went to the grocery earlier to pick out his grilling items for tomorrow. It's a waste for me to pick those things out for him. DD1 already gave him the card she made. As long as it's a quiet night he'll be happy as a lark.

Good Night All

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 21/06/2009 07:41

morning ts at that divorce story. Silly man.

Hope everyone has had better nights.
I am still tired, have to go get dads day gifts I think my efforts will go as far as bottle of wine for my dad, and oh bottle of wine for dh.

dd up, ds still asleep.

dizzydixies · 21/06/2009 07:44

Morning all! I can offer up fresh fruit (nectarine, banana, grapes, strawberries and pineapple) with greek yogurt & honey for brekker

we got a sleep maybe Poppy's idea about the teeth karma was right! DH and I went to bed at 10.30 and the next thing I knew it was 6am and it was DH who woke my up not one of the girls! He was leaving to go to work so I got up to say bye and only then Dylan woke up. Now her nose is running and she's not been overly fussed on her breakfast but she's taken a feed from me and is in better form than she has been in days so fingers crossed.

DD2, bless her, was very excited about the toothfairy visiting her sister and got all muddled up trying to tell me all about it - by the end of the story she was Spiderman and DD1 was a princess

DD1 also very excited but a touch more pragmatic and has returned put the £1 into her wellie bank savings for her 'intendo'. I shall of course add an additional penny later on when I've a chance to go to the bank/shop

looking nice weather wise here so far which would be handly as I've a lot to do in the house today after the girls' gymnastics - if it stays dry they'll be getting chucked into the garden whilst I try to ignoreMN get on with it

got to go - another snotty nose needing wiped [bleurgh]

dizzydixies · 21/06/2009 07:46

morning No1

oopsacoconut · 21/06/2009 07:55

Happy Fathers Day to all the Daddys!

Who ordered the early alarm call? I know it is the longest day but Noooooooo 4.43 it NOT a time to be awake! I sat iin her room with her for 20mins then got her some toys from downstairs and left her to it, I rescued her from being stuck at 5.15 then fell asleep and so did she to wake me at a decent hour of 7.10.

DH and I went out to dinner on Friday night and it was great it was the first time since DD was born as we usually go out for a drink but not dinner. The IL's babysat and we came home to them having had a huge row so were sitting on seperate sides of the house!

Yesterday DH was ordered went to a childrens first aid course put on by the local Children's Centre. I got DD a little Lions rugby shirt for his Fathers Day pressie and she was wearing it when he got home he came home to watch the rugby, and I finished off his other fathers day pressie.

Last night I tried the line of thought that seems to be going on, on here at the moment - DD had a light snsck at 4pm lastnight and some fruit then nothing until 7.15 when DH went to get her ready for bed, he gave her her bedtime bottle and she took 3oz then when I put her to bed 30mkins later she took the rest of the bottle . It is the first time she has taken more the 3oz, she took 7oz in total and slept until 4.43 when she had a huge BF and she had another when she woke up. I think I was feeding her dinner too late and the food wasn't lasting that long before she was hungry again and she was too full for her milk.

oopsacoconut · 21/06/2009 07:57

Morning No1,

Morning Dizzy thanks for Brekkie. much more my thing than DH's full fry [boak]

dizzydixies · 21/06/2009 07:59

ah no Oops having had weeks of the 4am wake up call you have my sympathies. well done you on the Lions rugby shirt - my DH would have loved that but they've all got Scotlend/Ireland ones so I'm not getting that as well!

am not sure if that same applies to babies as us but fruit might be digested too quickly and you could try something like weetabix or toast maybe?

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 21/06/2009 08:42

dizzy what a fab night, thats is great to hear. Hope it continues.
Bless your dd saving for Nintendo.
oops glad you managed a good night out together. That is my plan soon too, but dh not off now for the next 3 weekends.
I too have been getting a bit too late with tea, therefore not having a big milk feed.
I ventured to the street party for an hour or 3 yesterday so was in late. Gave ds weetabix just before bed, sohe only took 4 oz. He woke at 10.30 crying with tummy ache/wind had another 6oz. then woke at 4am for bf then just woke up now.
He is also very very snotty this morning and stuggling to eat breakfast. Happy enough though.
Send me away from here I have too much to do today

CaptainCaveman · 21/06/2009 08:51

Dh had the decency to apologise when he got up yesterday morning. A proper "I was completely out of order and I'm sorry" apology

yay for your sleep dizzy am very

Am ready to stop bfing now I think, I'm not enjoying it really anymore. Just got to find a way to stop. Cold turkey seems the best bet?

Dh has got a CD of Leonard Cohen and a huge box of Fruit Salad sweeties

CaptainCaveman · 21/06/2009 08:52

very of your lovely day yesterday VG and thank you for link - am not sure what my cousin hopes to achieve with her farm but she's considering ALL options!

CC you can have the thread irn bru and neurofen for the day - glad DH apologised

No1 am hoping that last night wasn't a fluke but understand the problems you have with DH on his shifts, my DH started his again this morning so I'll have sod all help for the next 6/7 days

have finally got around to sorting DD1's party bags for next weekend, now just hoping the stuff arrives in time [meep] have trawled ebay and bought mini wooden spoons/rolling pins/whisks a cookie cutter each and will chuck in some cake cases - the mothers will no doubt hate me

dizzydixies · 21/06/2009 09:27

good grief my two are now dancing around the living room listening to MTV dance, DD2 is the prince and DD1 is Cinderella and poor DD2 keeps trying to kiss DD1 who's having none of it - her father would be delighted

am off to google gender reassignment surgery as I'm pretty sure DD2 is going to be devestated when she realises she isn't infact a boy and DH and I are going to have to fork out

alittlebitshy · 21/06/2009 09:59

lol dizzy at gender reassignment!!!

vg sounds blissful!!!!!

Tomorrow evening I'm off to see Boyzone (!!!) with a friend. I get a while meal out first then a whole evening sans children. It's my first big night out since ds was born . Had a couple of meals with school mums around Xmas time, and have had the odd pta meeting (the thrill) but this is my biggest yet!!!! woohoo.

CaptainCaveman · 21/06/2009 10:19

Go albs! AM of your whole night out thing

And VG the trip sounds blissful, especially the alone time. We went to a wedding in Clare, spent a few days there, very nice as I recall - although I was largely drunk [hic]. It was 1996 so I was younger and childfree . I think we made it until about 1am before crashing into bed. The wedding party was still going on around 5am.

Hi dizzy. You know I still haven't paid you for Tom's lunch box don't you?

Hope your dh/dp's have a lovely day, and that they earn their cards/gifts! Dh still in bed

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 21/06/2009 13:03

vg of your day. Sounds wonderful. Glad you enjoyed it.
pmsl dizzy
the party bags sound lovely too.
Could I ask a question about the red velvet cupcakes please.
Does it matter if I miss out the buttermilk??
what is its purpose (sorry for ignorance)
Also what size cases normal fairy cake size or muffin??
thanks.
albs hope you have a wonderful well deserved night tomorow. I bet it will be fab.[
cc I hope your feeling better.

love;y day here. Been to shops cards and gifts delivered, although have just realised I have forgotten my step dad. oops never forgot him before.
DS asleep. dd playing with the dog. I am cleaning/tidying mnetting

TwilightSurfer · 21/06/2009 13:26

VG your trip sounds really nice (and relaxing).

Round 4 goes to ME!
Reese woke at some point in what I believe was early morning, cried for 10min, then back to sleep after a bit of shhh shhhing from me from my bed. I think this is looking like a victory.

Kids won't leave me alone and their father won't get out of bed so I'm off to find sanity doing my sun salutations in the backyard. Happy Summer Solstice!

dizzydixies · 21/06/2009 13:37

No1 I personally wouldn't leave it our purely because the red velvet ones are more indulgent than an ordinary spongey fairy cake and I think its the buttermilk that helps with the density of it all - more like a pudding in a small package iyswim? I would also be tempted to go with a larger case as I've a greedy mare but it should work fine in smaller ones, just reduce the length of time in the oven

Dylan has just eaten her body weight in local strawberries so hopefully she'll have a good afternoon nap - she was wowing everyone at gymnastics by standing on her own so I don't think we've long to go before she's off

DD1 now level 5 which confused me as I didn't realise it went DOWN the way and was bit as she was level 8

still lovely here so chucking them out, putting Dylan down and I'll bake crack on

have a recipe for raspberry and white choc tart that I'm dying to try and as its father's day and those are his favs I might be tempted

CC am still ignoring you, twas a gift for T although could you ask him to keep it nice as DD1 now obsessed and you could hand it down lol

dizzydixies · 21/06/2009 14:20

today was the day we wanted to have the christening but couldn't, shame as the sun is splitting the skies, everybody would have been able to come and it would have been nice on fathers day

lets hope its good weather on the 5th
