Sambo did apologise repeatedly - not much else I could do! Have been reading the threads on MN on biting since! And no I'm not expectant just never got round to changing my name

Planning on waiting till after my brother's wedding next year to start ttc again - there's no way I'm fitting into that bridesmaids dress otherwise.

Wotcha. We had a nice time at the pool even though the other mum we were supposed to meet overslept and didnt make it.
DH has vetoed baby swim classes as it works out at 200 euros for three terms of 2 45 min sessions a week. So I went and got one of these the baby pool was shallow enough for her to put her feet down so she just bobbed about and kept trying to stand up so in the end I took it off and just dunked her around and about.

She's snoozing now.
Can't remember who asked about getting los to sleep in the cot, but I have given up trying to put her down awake so I just feed or rock her till she sleeps on me, have a half hour snooze myself and then transfer her to her cot. That way at least I know she gets half an hour.

Outside shutters are a godsend for keeping us cool, you can shut them over the open window and there you are.

TwilightSurfer · 01/07/2009 16:04

HP shall I get you the flight schedules. Your friend is just up the road. That's awesome!!! So when will you be visiting????

HAPPY BIRTHDAY POPPY!

I apologize for being away. I'm doing my best to read but for some reason time for me-me-me things is extremely limited. As a result my mood is rather foul. Promise to return soon.

VG will the gooseberries freeze? I know black- and raspberries do, so you could give it a go and then have lovely gooseberry fool ingredients for the depths of gloomy winter.

I don't think you are, I think it is great tbh. All sounds very yummy.
I just drooled looked at dcs toast and ordinary supermarket jam this morning.

Hello to everyone, I have been to a shopping centre today, as too hot for dcs to play out in it, and we only get stressed bored staying in all day.

VG my grandmother use to make jams every summer. I recall like the hot syrupy stuff best...until caught and scolded.

I forgot to mention earlier that Reese has not taken those official first steps. Several times actually. NONE captured with the video recorder yet.

She is also saying "uh oh" after everything and will repeat it if you say it to her. Very cute!

VG i've got a similar book from my teacher training days. both girls are swimming in books here and read to daily. although i believe dd1 was read to more than reese. by now with dd1 i'd read all by beatrix potter, several by e. b. white and a. a. milne, and loads by mercer mayer. i had more story time with the first child.

my mood is slightly brighter after a dr pepper, popcorn and hershey bar fix.

it's 2:45pm here and we are all still in pj's. the kitchen, living room and dining room are clean though. it "looks" beautiful outside but it "feels" like a pizza oven.

i wish i were braver (and had more money) because i have nothing to do for a few weeks and would love to pop over and join the meetups. i'm missing out on some really cool opportunities!

CaptainCaveman · 01/07/2009 19:53

Am currently melting............Lordy Lord it is HOT. This is one of the few UK days a year that I wish our house had air con.
My car does not have air con either. Thats nice in this heat

dh moaning that the house smells of stale nappies...when he's the one who bathed ds2 last night and left the nappy on the bathroom floor. Again, thats nice in this heat . He really can be a nob at times.

Hope all are ok? I've enjoyed being in my air con office today

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 01/07/2009 19:55

ts glad you are feeling a little uplifted.
It would be wonderful to meet you in person.

vg thankyou re my bears. The books are lovely, I think it's never too early to start reading, and feel it is quite important. I read to dd every night from very young, and I still read to her every night. Although ds doesn't get many stories on his own, he still gets one every night as he is with me when I read to dd.
I am on the look out for new books, we have lots (Also the books from Dolly every month) but her favourite at the moment is the 'baby catalogue' I am trying to get old of some Shirley Hughs books as I loved them. esp 'My naughty little sister goes fishing'

Re ebay I find it quite addictive, or should I say dh does, I tend to freecycle bits, charity shp bits, and sell bits.
I have just made £300 this week

Well dd is fast asleep, but ds has screamed on and off for an hour so he is back down here with me, as the crying was just making him hotter.

CaptainCaveman · 01/07/2009 19:56

Here's my dinner recipe but I'm going to tweak it slightly since I have no rosemary and I don't like mustard. Parmesan couscous and green beans will be the sides. Hopefully dh will like it.

Sazzles I'll start looking at houses for you. Shall I look for one with a pool?

This house just went on the market last month. It is in the neighborhood next to mine. (note: it's 4 times the size and cost of mine.) If I had the money this very moment, we would be moving in. We already know the neighbors....our kids go to school together.

Oh, the Shirley Hughes books are fab No1 (another vote for your lovely bears too).

DD1 loves the Alfie books too and DS is often asked to consider whether the thing he is doing is Alfie or Bernard-type behaviour.

DD2 is mainly eating them, though she is fond of the flaps in the Spot and Maisy books too.

When mil was around at Christmas she kept saying to him, 'You didn't get a book? You're sure you didn't get a book? No book for Christmas?' in horrified tones not quite justified in a house where everyone is steeped in fiction ...

DH got me the new Sarah Waters and Colm Tóibin novels as a peace offering spontaneous gift.

TS - very nice house there. Does it have rooms for us all?

A chance to sit and chat to DH now so I must run. Ta-ra
