no1 forgot to say, i'm trying to stop bf DS during the night at the moment. there was a night last week, can't remember when but he woke up, screamed for about 2 and a half hours but, once he did then go back to sleep (after much cuddling and walking in the carrier), i transferred him to his cot and he then slept for 6 hours!!!!! i know its really hard to cope when they're screaming and you know its an easy thing to pacify with a bf but it is worth persevering

Miamla · 26/06/2009 09:44

ps to add... i offered and he accepted alot of water from his cup during his 2.5 hours of screaming

AnnVan · 26/06/2009 10:32

morning all. bugger forgot nappies on the line yesterday and now they''re being thoroughly rained on gaaah.
re meetup, I'm free whenever so just let me know, Im assumingI won't have started working by then

AnnVan · 26/06/2009 10:33

Morning all,

Impressed to hear of improved nights among the wakey babies - keep it up! Although obviously it would be good to share it around with those who are not making life easy for their hardworking mothers atm.

Have about 10 thousand different things going on at the moment so will just wave manically at you all as I charge past.

we need to spot referring to Jacko with his initials as I keep thinking I've died [meep]

no1 apologies, text winging its way to you now

been at school sports day all morning after a pretty reasonable night, although DD2 was in with me again, both girls were dry so got to be happy with that

sports day went really well and have meetings galore this afternoon and tonight so will catch up later

hope you've all got sun to be enjoying

lwfh · 26/06/2009 13:43

yes, the last two nights have been fractionally better. We think that maybe DS was a bit hot as he slept well a couple of nights ago but was uncovered. Central heating in our flats is central, therefore difficult to control and quite warm. DS also at the back of the flat, which is warmer again.

Re: not BF at night - yes, I think that this is slowly happening on its own, of the 3 wake ups last night I only breast fed him at the last one, and he settled fairly quickly after all 3.

Really must mark.

lwfh · 26/06/2009 13:44

PS hello everyone! and am impressed by the domestic goddessness around

therealpf · 26/06/2009 14:25

Hi all
Just to say hello, am so busy at the moment that I can't get on here much.

Have had a manic week here. Heading into Summer hols in a couple of weeks and starting work again soon. Toby has just started crawling and worked out that legs and arms go independently today rather than dragging himself about by his arms with feet following.

I am going to sign off for a while - I think the time has come after a long time on MN to have a rest. But I will pop in here now and again to see if you are all ok still! (and give you a pf stare if you are not behaving)

CaptainCaveman · 26/06/2009 14:51

It just took me ages to work out who therealpf was! I was wondering who therapy elf was (thats what I read when I first saw it!)

Miamla thank you so much for the crown, I managed to bleach both bathrooms, unload and load dishwasher, clean worksurfaces, put a load of washing in, tidy up, hoover AND all before 11am. Here, I've even polished the crown too . No baking though. As I said before, I'm not remotely creative and that includes making anything of anykind. Edible or otherwise!

Dizzy what sun? We've had random bursts of it here but generally cloudy, although still very warm. I'm glad you're still alive. It's the other MJ who died!

HI cyteen

I stopped feeding O in the night and now he just wakes up for a cuddle. He starts off the night in his own cot, then he'll wake somewhere around midnight (having woken at least once in between going to bed and midnight - more often wakes 2 to 3 times!), then he'll come into our bed. I'll bf him only after 6am. He is definately much quicker to settle now he knows he won't get a feed.

alittlebitshy · 26/06/2009 16:12

I WAS happy with H waking for a bf i the night as it was only every few nights. However, last night he managed to have 3 night feeds. not impressed .

Steaknife · 26/06/2009 16:21

Hi all. Izzy woke us at 6 as her foot was stuck in the cot bars, this after 2 night feeds. Just waiting on the top teeth to cut and hopefully she will sleep through again. Not sure how keen dh will be to try and settle her without bfing. Domestic pretender here. Hall cupboard tidied and recipes glued into book. Vats of tea drunk.

Steaknife · 26/06/2009 16:31

Albs - how frustrating. Do you find you adjust really quickly to the extra sleep when they sleep well and then when they sleep badly it feels worse than ever?

pertelote · 26/06/2009 16:32

Steaky surely if DH would like to settle DD with BFing he is welcome to try? Sorry, facetious - bit knackered myself. And should be baking DH's bday cake so this had better be brief.

But re London - can't do 23/24, sorry. Was it Sambo needed it to be Tues or Thurs? I could do 28 or 30th, after that I'm working Tuesdays. Or could do 14/16th.

Steaknife · 26/06/2009 16:38

Ah bums just took me ages to reply to Albs and dont think it posted. To sumarise- you get used to the extra sleep when los sleep well, but when they next sleep badly you feel like an extra from night of the living dead.

Steaknife · 26/06/2009 17:04

Blardy webphone. Sorry for BOGOFness of posts. Pert would love to see mansteak attempt bfing. Tis one area of childcare he wisely leaves well alone. Tis friday night grizzles here. Not helped by iz chinning herself on my knee poor little mite.

I'd prefer not 24th bu not cos is H's borthday but cos after dd's holiday clib we're off to my parents as have awedding the enxt day.

23rd possibly.

can't do 14th and NOT 16th as it's my 30th birthfday!!!!

will look at other date but h is howling now..

alittlebitshy · 26/06/2009 18:55

that was atrociuos typing . hope you extracted some sense out of it!!!

I'd prefer 28th or 30th BUT mostly of the dates suggested the 23rd. That way dd is at her holiday club in the morjn and i can persuade dh to collect her. Otherwise I'd have to bring her and as much as she loves babies and mummies I suspect she may get bored .

CaptainCaveman · 26/06/2009 20:11

O now has another top tooth, a grand total of 4 teeth, 2 top and 2 bottom !
He is getting ahead of himself today, he has also mastered crawling properly instead of commando, and is pulling himself upright on anything near to hand and beginning to 'cruise'.

dh has left a big box of maltesers next to the computer. It would be wrong not to eat them, right?

CaptainCaveman · 26/06/2009 20:12

The tooth, the crawling and the cruising all happened today . Let's hope he goes for the full house and sleeps through!

pertelote · 26/06/2009 20:34

Brilliant CC, what a clever boy! (So's his dad for leaving you maltesers where you couldn't fail to find them )

ALBS I can't do 23rd (I'm in Durham, if anyone fancies a NE meet? )

Sooooo to summarise, in reverse, Sambo can't do 28/30, I can't do 23, Miamla can't do 21, ALBS can't do 14/16, I can't do 9th. Dare we try the 7th? Otherwise it's August and I'm back to work ...

(If we can't meet before schools break up though ALBS, what if we met somewhere that DD would find interesting? It's not as if the babies care where we are. First place that occured to me was the Museum of Childhood - its great and has a big cafe with lots of space for crawlers to roam, plus a park outside. But probably others can think of other places... the zoo? aquarium? city farm? science museum?)

sambo303 · 26/06/2009 21:00

7th july is good for me

well done O, it's amazing how quickly they get the hang of it. The downside is Felix now wants to practise crawling and sitting up when he's supposed to be going to sleep. Arent they supposed to sleep better once they crawl?

sambo303 · 26/06/2009 21:03

have friends coming over for lunch on Sunday - one of whom is 8 months pg. I want to do a veggie bbq, any suggestions for something nice to cook? My standard fayre of corn on the cob and halloumi cheese and aubergine stacks with lime dressing is feeling a bit tired (ie I am sick of it)
