Pula that's just what dd1 does. She is horrid to ds and encourages him to copy her doing naughty things.

Morning all! How's tricks today?

I'm still in bed. I feel guilty, Greer's asleep beside me, Nairn & Erica are downstairs watching TV and hitting each other, Findlay's away to school and DH has a hospital appointment this morning so he's left already too. I'm pretty tired and could easily sleep for the rest of the day

I have so much to do today. My ex-DH's Mum (so my kind of ex-MiL but not really ex because we're still very close) is coming up tomorrow to help me sort out my kitchen which means I need to get as much of the rest of the house tidied as possible so that I'm not horribly embarrassed by the mess. Happy days!

Momino · 17/06/2009 09:02

blotted, my DH has a hospital appt as well: pre op for the snip! i'm a bit sad this is happening and i know i'll be broody but there is no way my body can go through that again, sad sigh. if you're tired try t get a nap in (that possible?}. i was tired yesterday and got nothing done as a result. however, last night had a good night sleep and feel much more energetic.

i'm not dressed yet but am pleased to say i showered . going to town to buy fathers day gift from DD's.

hope everyone is ok today.

Morning all. Ds didn't go to nursery this morning as the hv is coming to do his 2 year check and do whatever she has to do with dd2.

Dd1 is out at nursery and so sorted. Ds is still wearing his pajama top. We need to clean our teeth and get him dressed. I need to tidy up for the cleaner and HV.

Belgianchocolates · 17/06/2009 10:04

Morning everyone,

I bit of a grey day here today, but that's ok, because it means I can put C in that incredibly cute outfit I got for her from eBay .

Lots to do here as well. Got to post some things I've sold, get a present and card for SIL and niece I've forgotten and they're popping round today to collect something. Also got a pile of laundry waiting to be sorted and I'd love to tidy a bit as I'm fed up with all the clutter.

blotted hope you're going to manage to get some rest today.

momino glad you're feeling a bit more awake today.

DH didn't put a bid in for that house that needed doing up, phew. He said that it needed too much doing and there was no way we'd create enough space by Jan for when we'll need a new au pair. The exciting news is that the estate agents got in touch with us about one of the houses we viewed this weekend. It was truly gorgeous, a recently renovated 4 bed cottage. All ready to just move in. The bedrooms are a bit on the small side, so we thought it was a bit overpriced. Anyway the estate agents encouraged us to put a bid in £75,000 below the asking price, saying that the owners are desperate to sell and willing to consider bids that low, so dh went ahead. Now we're negotiating. I hope we'll get it, it's even been keeping me awake last night.

Blottedcopybook · 17/06/2009 10:15

Momino Is he going for a local or general anaesthetic? My DH got his snip done under local in December and he was honestly fine after it. Apart from me spending the day trying to give him a pinger by sucking my fingers suggestively and bending over right in front of him ;)

Gert2a · 17/06/2009 11:39

morning all!

shopping centres are designed by men (or women who havent had children). my shopping centre would have many large breastfeeding/changing rooms, all with windows looking out on to the outside world, windows that open to let in fresh air and airconditoning for warm sunny days. They would have a large variety of chairs to suit everybody's different needs. They would have lovely cold water available to quench the thirst of the breastfeeding mum, and a cocktail bar for post feed cocktail. They would be well signposted. And would create lovely chatty spaces for mums/parents and their babes. (Pula, can you tell i went to meadowhell last night?!!)

Then again in my ideal world we wouldn't need these rooms as everyone would be comfortable with, and find breasfeeding completely normal... Gert goes to dream of beastfeeding utopia...

Sorry to hear about those of you who are struggling/unwell. Hope things get better soon.

How often are you taking LOs to be weighed. Don t think Edie's been weighed for 3 weeks, should i have taken her by now?

daizydoo · 17/06/2009 11:44

Woo hoo - I have 2 sleeping children! ds1 has been fine the past 2 days, but today he's decidedly grouchy and has gone to sleep of his own free will (that never happens!!). I hope there aren't many more spots to come...

Yesterday my mum looked after him whilst ds2 and I did the grocery shopping, came back and mum had cleaned the house the kitchen and front room, which was a nice surprise!

Ds2 managed to sleep in his crib last night and only wake every 4hrs for a feed! For the past week he's been moaning and groaning with wind in the night and cos he's slept most of the day has been wide awake. He's also been sleeping on me, which is frustrating.

Have a hospital appt in a few weeks as my birthmark has changed colour, I have to say I'm quietly bricking myself about it.

belgian - hope you get the house - very exciting!

Jen - we don't get a 2yr check in our area - just a leaflet!

llareggub · 17/06/2009 11:59

Gert John Lewis in Solihull has a lovely baby room. It is large, has water on tap, lots of seats and a separate loo with a big loo and a little loo for little people. It is only missing the cocktail bar really!

pulapula · 17/06/2009 12:22

Gert- I ended up feeding DS2 in a cafe for his first feed at Meadowhell (nice private sofa), then Mothercare for second feed as he was very grouchy (horrible hot small room), then the main oasis food hall for third feed (I couldn't care less if anyone saw my nipples by then). Only once i was sat down eating my mcdonalds with my boobs out did i see a sign to the "mothers nursing room" lol.

Momino- I feel like you - I don't think my body could cope with another pg (with 3 DCs to look after too) and I don't think i could cope with 4 DCs.

ReeBee · 17/06/2009 13:20

hi everyone

Have been reading but no time to post as all F does is feed and then need to be changed, and like everyone else I'm trying to make time to do bits and pieces around the house / to keep life running smoothly. For example, I didn't realise that buying and posting birthday and thank you cards would become an ordeal and take so many trips!

Today's been especially bad as someone swapped my baby last night and instead of angel baby with a 4am 30 min feed, I got one that was awake and whingy from 1.30am - 3.30am and then again from 6.30am - 8am... so I didn't get up until 10am. Poor DH, it was the first morning he's had to get up early (5.45am) for work as he's in Chester today so he wasn't pleased either!

Have visitors coming at about 4pm today and before then have to walk dogs with Felix (probably in the pouring rain). My episiotomy and stitches haven't been behaving themselves - have just escaped abx for the time being - and it'll be the furthest I've walked since having F - am a bit concerned about it all but trying to treat it as an adventure.

re weight loss, I'm up for joining a thread. I need to lose 1.5 stones to get to pre-preg weight but would be delighted to lose 2.5 and be at wedding weight... Have lost just over 1.5 since the morning before having F. That's two and a half weeks ago - not sure if good or bad - but no chance of it continuing if I continue to indulge my ice cream obsession! Although I am treating F a bit like a foie gras goose so must be positively shedding the calories that way!

Am so amazed at those of you coping with more than one DC - have no idea how you do it especially with all the tales of tantrums and potty training etc. You have my complete admiration and respect.

right, all quiet on the baby front so off to make lunch

pulapula · 17/06/2009 13:44

Hi reebee- sorry to hear you had a bad night. Poor DH too. I know when i just had 1 DC, I would quite often stay in bed til 9.30 or 10am whilst DH had to get up as normal and go to work.

Well S is still grumpy- I can't put him down for more than 5 mins today and I don't know why he is crying . He was crying in his (short) sleep earlier too. He didn't sleep more than 2 hours straight last night, feeding 4 times and my boobs are pretty empty, which i don't think is helping his mood. Another growth spurt? I blame everything on growth spurts . He's just dropped off again so i will try and get him down for a nap so i can get some lunch (as a toasted teacake and packet of wheat crunchies isn't that filling )

LoobyLou36 · 17/06/2009 14:00

hi

I'd like to sign up for the weightloss thread too. I've lost 18lbs since M was born but am now stuck. We're going to Majorca late september so would like to lose at least another 10lb by then- altho could do with losing a stone or more

went to BF group today, really great bunch of women all sharing problems, solutions over cakes and tea

M has been feeding solidly since we got home tho - 1.5hrs and has just gone to sleep in her carrycot [fingers crossed]

LoobyLou36 · 17/06/2009 14:02

I'm starving - cake I had earlier is now wearing off. Just hope M stays settled.

Belgianchocolates · 17/06/2009 14:11

MN is playing up yet again. I'd written a post and when I clicked post MN dissapeared and it's not there now. Now I can't remember what I said.

reebee Enjoy your lie-ins now while you can. It's lovely to be able to do that after a bad night. I think us 2nd time mums cope both because we have to and also because we're already used to leading a life that's organised around a child's routines, IYKWIM. We're also used to less sleep after a few years of broken nights

llare Do you want to meet up next time you go to Solihull? I need to go to bravado sometime in July to get my bra size checked.

bf out shopping I almost never use the BF rooms, because they mostly share a space with a toilet, which isn't very nice. I usually sit in a quiet corner in a cafe or something while enjoying a nice cup of tea and cake

pula C has been grumpy the last 2 days too. She only settles on me or in the sling. She's now been asleep on my for 15min, so I think it might be safe to move her soon. I really want to tackle that pile of laundry before end of school time.

A question for those of you using re-usable nappies. Has anyone ever used fleece nappy covers? C seems to get nappy rash quite often and I thought a more breathable nappy cover might help. She wees a lot and seems to soak a nappy every 1.5-2h, more quickly than the other 2 did. I fill a nappy bucket a day. Anyone elso using this many nappies?

SpangleMaker · 17/06/2009 14:43

Hi all! It's taken me ages to catch up so we must all be getting chatty again.

Can't remember which one of you said they live in fear of overtiredness - I'm with you on that. After our slighly hellish day on Sunday DH arranged to take yesterday off so we could relax & he could look after H for me. Foolishly I decided I felt fine so we thought we'd take a trip to John Lewis to choose new bed linen. H was lovely & chirpy (and much admired by passing shoppers ) apart from a few little grumbles BUT he had virtually no sleep all day, so by the time we got home - all shopped out - he had a total meltdown that lasted until 10pm . So much for our relaxing day (stupid girl).

Dandy I'm up for the weight loss thread. I was really depressed yesterday, kept catching sight of my jelly belly in the shop mirrors. Had a browse round the clothes but wasn't in the mood at all, which is most unlike me.

pulapula · 17/06/2009 15:17

I've set up a thread in the weight loss bit, as so many were interested, and I know Dandy isn't on here as much as i am!

Click here to find the thread

pulapula · 17/06/2009 15:23

Right, i am going to have to put a sleeping baby down (2nd time lucky) as i still haven't had lunch and its 3.23pm. If he wakes up, i will just have to put him in the sling whilst i hang out the washing...

llareggub · 17/06/2009 15:25

That would be lovely Belgian!

Tummum · 17/06/2009 15:42

llare and Belgian I need to go to Bravissimo too (for a sports bra so I can start jogging again - and when I say again, I mean the last time I jogged was 3 years ago , so could I join your meet up? (Feel free to say no.)

MIL goes home in 15 hours...

flippineck · 17/06/2009 15:43

Hello all! Moment of peace here, DD1 is asleep and DD2 is being rocked by MIL!!

belgian - we tried fleece with DD1 and didn't get on with it (found it leaked/wicked way too much for comfort) but we use wool covers on her now at night. MIL and my grandma have knitted the covers (like shorts) for us, they just need treating with lanolin every now and again. We started using them with DD1 because she was getting really bad napy rash (blisters ) and bad chafing from the binding on the edges of the wraps (MotherEase). DD2 isn't in cloth 100% of the time yet (I'm not quite organised enough ) but yes she seems to soak nappies really quickly too - I'm sure DD1 would last about 3 hours, A is done in about 2, probably due to the constant feeding!

We seem to be having a slightly better day today, A is more settled again - for the last week or so she's only been sleeping for about 20 minutes at a time, unless she's being held and rocked by me, or in the sling. Another vote for slings as the best bit of baby equipment ever! Thought so after DD1, but confirmed this time round.

I'll probably pop in to the weight loss thread too, need to get rid of just over a stone to get to pre-preg weight. Does make me smile though that a few of you have mentioned wedding weight - I'm still ridiculously proud of the fact that if I was to get to my wedding weight again (even now!)I'd have to gain about 2 stone!!! [very smug grin, sorry]

flippineck · 17/06/2009 15:45

Oh yeah - PILs go home at 4am tomorrow
