Hi all

Sorry not been on for the last couple of days. O has either been too unsettled or v settled! Having a good day today with lots of big smiles and a couple of decent sleeps.

This morning we went to the local farmers market and bought some strawberries, olive bread, eggs and burgers&sausages for a bbq tomorrow.

Sorry not to catch up properly - just wanted to at least post!

FiKelly · 27/06/2009 18:56

hope everyone has had a nice sunny day. very proud of myself as dh went fishing before we woke up this am. he was supposed to be home late am but got carried away having fun and it was mid afternoon before he got home.. to an empty flat as ds g and I got fed up being inside and all went out.. for the first time without dh. we went shopping (taking too small for g gifts back), then the park for an ice lolly and ds had been given a bottle of bubbles recently which he adores. ds had a few wobbles during the day but not too bad at all and i coped

daizydoo · 27/06/2009 19:18

Well done Fi

Between dh and I we tried to tidy the house today - it now looks like we've not done a thing I want a self cleaning house!

I too am mourning the passing of the newborn phase I'm impressed by those of you who can put down when your lo feeds, each day is so different for us.

LoobyLou36 · 27/06/2009 19:54

frazzledoldbag · 27/06/2009 20:26

HELLO! Just wanted to pop in and say hi. Haven't read for days so will do that then be back to chat - if kids allow! Missing you all. Hope all well - am ine and baby H is a joy.

frazzledoldbag · 27/06/2009 20:26

am FINE I meant, not ine! 1 handed typing - not good!

Jennster · 27/06/2009 21:02

Hello folks. I am expecting a fantastic night of sleep tonight.....Ha! We waited in all day for a mattresses that finally arrived at 3.30. Dd1 is now in a full sized bed we erected this morning, and ds is now asleep in a toddler bed. We had to put him down in a cot and move him when he was asleep..... Probably a very bad idea but hey. We have a fabby super new mattress that makes my bed SOOOO high that children can't climb onto it, and I'm drinking a glass of very expensive wine I bought with Co-op Divi vouchers. The Beef Wellington is in the oven and I'm afraid the pudding isn't going to happen because I've run out of time. DD2 got a lovely massage, for which I was rewarded with a fabulous smile, and is now wide awake, but lying quietly in her crib in our room. BIL is just about to be rescued from dd1's room. He is STILL telling her stories.

Belgianchocolates · 27/06/2009 21:05

Hi Frazzled! Lovely to hear from you. Glad to hear you're all ine, I mean, fine, lol

daizy I have no idea either when C normally has her feeds. Like you, we seem to have feeds at a different time every day.

C had a lovely day today. Every time she was tired she had a very short little moan, cuddle by me and off she went. She also had very long times under the baby gym, being really fascinated by all the dangly toys. She's so alert nowadays. Amazing how quickly babies change.

Febes · 27/06/2009 21:21

My mum and dad went home today . I won't see them for a year at least

Tummum · 27/06/2009 21:22

Evening all. I'm bushed - the party went really well and house is still standing, which I think is a sign of a successful party .

Daizy I couldn't tell you when G feeds - it's really sporadic. But he has got the hang of night vs day and has been sleeping 9pm til 6.30-7am a few nights this week, which makes me a happy bunny.

Jenn your bed (and dinner) sounds fab. We switched from a double to a superking when we moved 3 years ago and I can't imagine how our marriage survived the double bed ! We also got a memory foam mattress and I reckon that really helped out with my SPD.

Frazz great to hear from you

Belgian glad to hear that C is settling well on her own. G suddenly went from clingy to loving his baby gym / bouncy chair about 2 weeks ago.

Can't believe that G is 8 weeks old today. Blimey - where did that time go? I can't really remember what life was like without him . Although I do remember the house was a bit quieter and less complicated !

pulapula · 27/06/2009 21:49

tummum- well done for getting through DD1s party!

Well scrap my routine that i posted yesterday! S woke at 4.15pm for his feed as usual, but just wanted to sleep and was very grumpy. Got to 5.45 so i put him down as he was solidly asleep on me (5 mins later he's awake ). So we did his bath routine as usual. He spent ages drinking EBM and didn't settle, gave him some more, still not settling. Luckily DH took over at 9 (about time he had a go!) and when i went up to help out, he said there was lots of bottom wind and hopefully he's settled him now (he's still upstairs). Oh i can hear crying again . Might have to try a breastfeed although i've just expressed as he really must be very tired by now. I am just hoping he doesn't wake up at 11pm as usual so at least we can get some shut-eye.

pulapula · 27/06/2009 21:51

Oh and tummum - of G sleeping 9 til 6.30/7 a few nights this week.

SpangleMaker · 27/06/2009 22:03

frazz lovely to 'see' you

Febes

Our 'routine' went out the window today too. H wanted to nap all day and didn't have much appetite, so I've expressed a bottle and put it in the freezer. I did the bath/feed/bed routine and got him off to sleep by 9pm despite the day time napping and lots of grumbling... H is really struggling to get himself to sleep in the evenings these days, poor thing. Now the house is strangely quiet, and I'm a bit lonely, with H asleep in the bedroom and DH on his way back from a trip to London for MIL's b'day.

pulapula · 27/06/2009 22:08

It all went quiet upstairs so left DH to it. He's still up there though...

pulapula · 27/06/2009 22:10

He's just come down...let's hope S is settled. Not had my tea yet, but haven't got much of an appetite at the moment.

Momino · 27/06/2009 22:18

Hi all. just watching glasto and catching up on mn. had a great day with friends visiting though dd2 had a big fall on her face with a bloodied nose, bless her. she's fine, though, after many cuddles.

tummum, glad the party went well, was thinking of you.

Febes, I understand how you feel about long distance. it's been a year and 3 mos since i saw my mom (and most of my family) and not sure when I'll see them again as it's so expensive for us to travel and my mom can't visit with her bad knees. Anyway, sorry you're .

OP posts:
Blottedcopybook · 27/06/2009 22:22

Looby Awwww M's hernia looks a lot worse than Greer's, hers doesn't really protrude until she cries or strains I hope M's fixes itself

Belgian Hens are the most stupid animals on the planet, we fenced off the patio for the kids and left the whole of the rest of the garden (about 1/8 acre) for the hens and yet I STILL find the maran in the kids garden every bloody day. She has to jump a waist-height fence to do it!

TumMum We have a superking too, BIG mistake for us because I now wake up with an arse in my face, a foot in my fajita, someone suckling and hubby lying 6 foot away from me At least ONE of the children likes their own bed enough to stay in it!

Tummum · 27/06/2009 22:34

Lol blotted ! Getting the sheets / duvets changed are a nightmare too... that's my excuse for not changing the linen v. often, honest

flippineck · 27/06/2009 22:39

Jealous of those superking beds out there, standard double here as we have a small house. One day we will have a house big enough for more than two children (nope, not been put off!) and a big bed.

We're watching Glastonbury too, missed Neil Young though so am annoyed about that.

I've been trying to work out A's pattern too, but it's all quite rough - goes to sleep late evening (10-11 ish), wakes some time between 2 and 4, then very unsettled until about 6 or 7 when she goes back to sleep for a couple of hours. The daytime is anyone's guess though.

We had a lovely day today, my siblings and their partners and children all came to visit. I made pizza for everyone, and we sat in the garden drinking beer and eating pizza while the kids (well, except for A!) played in the paddling pool until the thunderstorms! Great to see everyone, and it was the first time they'd all met A.

Quick question - we're thinking that we might need to get a baby monitor of some kind so we can put A to bed in our room and then shut the door to avoid disturbing DD1 too much. We'd never bothered before because of the size of the house but have now realised that it might be helpful. Who has monitors and what kind do you have, and would you recommend them? Not bothered about movement sensors I think, just need to be able to hear what's going on. Thanks!

flippineck · 27/06/2009 22:41

ooh, tummmum - that's a very good reason for not having a superking. Maybe I'll stink with my cosy double!

Belgianchocolates · 27/06/2009 22:43

ooh, a superking sized bed. We could do with one of those.

blotted Same here. Our chickens have nearly the whole garden (also a big one), but are fascinated by the decking and keep trying to get on it. One of them has now managed to fly on to the 1st corner post of the steps and from there over the fence. It's about a meter high I think. She also sometimes goes from the decking fence on to the shed. One of these days she'll be in the neighbours' garden. When DH comes back I'll have another look at her wings. I might have to clip them again, because she does seem to fly quite far now. I can't do wing clipping on my own though.

flippineck · 27/06/2009 22:43

stink, lol! I meant stick of course.

pulapula · 27/06/2009 22:50

We have a kingsize bed but are thinking of getting a superking in a few months time although not if it encourages all 3 children to join us, although our plan is to put all 3 kids up on the top floor (with stairgate) anyway! Seems like a good plan until they start waking in the night and we have to climb the stairs again and again...
