bum I've got a period. A bit of a shock to the system I can tell you. Perhaps it'll just be like last time and a one off but I doubt it. It's the pay off for getting a 6-7 hour sleep stretch at night (dd2 not me unfortunately), even though I'm exclusively BF.

Momino · 26/06/2009 10:15

looby, would think they'd do in confidence and hope you get it settled. sounds like it's been a nightmare.

jennster - talking to newborn, i'm similar and often find myself silently changing H's nappy whilst she's screaming . i then start a singsong voice or try to sing something to calm her.

my dd1 was a slow talker as well so now that you mention it ... dd2 has been an early talker so i wonder if that's because her older sister now has more speech and dh and i therefore use more conversation around them.

i wouldn't worry since they all catch up to each other at some point .

i've been semi-organised and have prepared sarnies for picnic lunch . we're off to the park as soon as Harper finishes this feed. lovely weather. it reminds me of the 2006 summer when i was on mat leave with dd1. we'd better take advantage of it while it lasts!

Pula a big non MM hug. You must be so worried about your dad, even though everyone is telling you not to. Hopefully once he's had his appointment you'll know a bit more and know what to expect.

jenn Giving running commentaries and talking to a newborn doesn't come natural to me either and I never really did talk much to ds and dd1. Ds was slower with his language development, but not abnormally so. Dd1 was a bit quicker. Whether that's a sex thing or because dd1 heard more language because I was talking to ds and so there was more talking around her I don't know. I wouldn't worry too much about it. My philosophy with parenting is to do what comes natural to yourself

Looby I agree with the others. Talk to the Citizens Advice Bureau. Your boss is already in the wrong by not paying you. Daizy is right, if he were to sack you for talking to them this would be unfair dismissal.

I hope that those of you with difficult toddlers have a bit of an easier day today.

I had to laugh last night. I put C on my bed, fast asleep. Walked out of the room to fetch a nappy, came back and there was DS (7) lying next to her in the exact same frog position as C. I took a picture. My ds is clearly developing a good sense of humour!

I just went to see my GP's to drop off a thank you card and some Belgian chocolates for my mw, but it was a colleague. Apparently she's not well and on long term sickness. She's also going in for an op. Hope she's better soon.

We're not planning much today. I think it'll be a quiet day. Send some more eBay things out and tidy up a little.

Momino · 26/06/2009 10:18

M&B'smummy, sounds like you have L on a good routine. does your dp help with bottle feeds at night?

OP posts:
emmabemmasmom · 26/06/2009 10:35

Pula I am so sorry to hear your news. Everyone else has said everything I would have, so I will just send you hugs and good wishes. Thinking of you and your family.

Daisy I think it is totally normal to take out any anger on your previous LO. From what I have read on here, we are all doing it at one point or another. I know from my own experience that it was getting a bit scary and I did not feel like I could cope or was in control. I spoke to my HV and GP and now I am noticing a huge difference in mine and DD's behaviour. You can only do what you can and in time it will get better. Hang in there!

I am so amazed I got S to go to bed at 7:30 so I had a lovely night with DH. I did the feed from one boob, bath, and then other boob feed. She fell asleep on me and went in her bed no problem. She slept again for nearly 9 hours so it looks like she is just going to be great night sleeper. Only thing that was hard was since I did not cluster feed her like usual my boobs were sooooo sore. I expressed a bit in the shower before bed but I didn't know when she would wake up so I didn't do to much. But she didn't wake until after 4am so I was in some pain and leaking everywhere. Oh well she fixed that this morning! Hoping this new bedtime sticks rather than the 11pm ones she has been doing.

I can't help but feel so bad knowing I have a well behaved baby and yet I still got pnd and feel the way I do.

DH went into work at 4:30 this morning. Crazy. So he will be tired when he gets home. Planning on watching Madagascar 2 when he gets home as a family. Hope DD likes it lol

Hope everyone has a great day today!

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 26/06/2009 11:10

Morning all

Pula Chin up chick, I really hope things go ok for your dad, what a terrible shock . You know we're all here to listen when you need us.....and I hope you make Wednesday.

Momi Gosh you're organised , I hope you have a lovely picnic, the weather has turned grey and muggy (love that word) here.

Loobs CAB are confidential AFAIK, get yer ass down there and get this situation sorted, they should be able to advise you and it does need sorting, your boss is a dick.

emmabemma glad you're feeling better

I talk to S all the time, I keep up a chuntering, running commentary and I sing to her (in public too) . I did the same with my others too and they're both chatterboxes . I sing things like "Who's a stinky bear?" to my kids and I sing what I'm doing as well.

I am a humiliation to my children, talking of being a humiliation to your children, my mum is coming to visit today.

Oh, it looks like it's going to rain and rain here. Boo.

LoobyLou36 · 26/06/2009 11:29

its absolutely chucking it down with rain here

I'm geared up to go to town now too - bugger!

Belgianchocolates · 26/06/2009 11:35

grumpy the weather is grey here too. Not picnic weather at all.

Well I just managed to get chocolaty brownie dough stains on my brand new expensive wrap sling. That'll teach me for licking the left over bits of the spoon. As the dcs aren't here I have to do the job

About this sling. It's sooo beautiful and so much more supportive on C than the Calin Bleu I've got. I never thought a different fabric would make so much difference. It was a bit too expensive though, but I'm selling stuff on eBay, so that'll make up for it

Belgianchocolates · 26/06/2009 11:36

Talking about eBay. Now Michael Jackson's died. Would my old genuine '80's tapes of Bad and Thriller now make a lot of money?

Tummum · 26/06/2009 12:20

Warning mememe rant alert. Arrgghh! Having a shite day. Could quite easily crawl under the covers now.

DH has returned from work last night after a week and is in a strop because I wasn't welcoming enough. And then I am in the dog house because I refused to help him with his work at 10pm whilst DS1 was still feeding. I don't thing he understands how blimmin exhausting it is being on demand 24/7.

A combination of DS1 waking up, DH going to bed late and DD1 waking up at 5am (it's her birthday today) means 3 hrs kip. And then preparing for a party here tomorrow for 10 girls and DS1 is being a PITA. Tescos was horrific this morning (ended up having an argument with a member of staff ).

Tomorrow will be the party in the morning, then the flipping Lions in the afternoon, then DH is buggering off to commissaire a bike rice in Wales on Sunday. So I am naffed off. When do I get to do something for me on my own?

Phew I feel better now. Sorry for the rant. It's all very insignificant and I shouldn't get so stressed out.

FiKelly · 26/06/2009 12:26

looby good on you for heading off to cab. i went to them in the past about a grotty (understatement)boss.. got some great advice and all confidential. i did discover on going they'd had quite a few previous complaints about him.

runningmonkey · 26/06/2009 12:34

Morning everyone

had a productive morning we made it out to a mum n baby group and A slept through the whole thing. Did meet some nice mums tho and they've told me about some other groups to go to as well. It's amazing how much better I feel for getting out and having some contact with people.

Looby good on you for getting some advice you've been putting up with a crap situation for long enough.

Hope everyone has a good day x x

FiKelly · 26/06/2009 13:04

tummum rant away & in true MN phrasing YANBU. i hope your dh gives you a break over the week end. ikhyf as my dh was in a strop yesterday & i nearly lost it.. he narrowly missed a right mouthful. it was over such petty stuff too. he must have felt bad about it as he's been apologizing since late last night.

MatthewAndBumpsMummy · 26/06/2009 13:06

hi momino thanks for talking to me!

yeah dp does 4 out of 7 night shifts with L, he's been brilliant he works shift work so he does 2 day shifts so i do those nights with L as he has to get up at 6.30am for work. he then does 2 nights shifts but has a night off inbewteen so he does that night with L. i do the two nights he's at work. he then has 4 days off so does another 3 nights with L! its lovely for me becuase he sleeps with L in the living room so that im not disturbed at all, i dont sleep very well with L in the bedroom becuase i wake up to all his little noises and movements coz im a very light sleeper. so having dp to do this for me is just bliss coz he never helped at all with ds1 so think he's trying to make up for it abit. the expressing is really taking it up of me so i dont think id cope without dp doing what he does.

FiKelly · 26/06/2009 13:24

g's snuffly cold is affecting her latching on to feed now she's 5wks today too. off to doc's this pm to get her chest checked out before week end. i'm sure it's clear but she is miserable..

Blottedcopybook · 26/06/2009 13:28

Jennster Haha! Well done your DD!

Pula I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad. I know it's not much consolation but you'd be surprised how many people have had successful treatment for cancer, unfortunately we only seem to hear about those cases which aren't successful. I had osteocarcinoma when I was 16 and had almost a year of operations, chemo and tests and now all I have to show for it is a pretty big but faded scar on the back of my leg. It'll be ten years in September since I got my all clear and I've had no further instances.

Looby CAB cannot pass any of your details on whatsoever, it's like speaking to a lawyer.

TumMum Sorry you're having do deal with all that love. I've found that the only way I get time to do something for myself is if I schedule it the same way as I schedule doctors/dentists/school appointments. PLEASE do this though because it will make you feel much better if you do x

I had my postnatal check yesterday, very quick but everything's looking good apparently and I don't need a smear - hooray! I was on a 6 month recall because I'd had a dodgy result but my last three were all normal so I'm back on the routine recall. I've to go back to see my GP in a month if my pain hasn't settled down and return to physio in the meantime.

Have any of you got experience with umbilical hernias? Greer seems to have developed one over the last week or so, the HV said that they won't do anything until she's around a year but to keep an eye on it in case it's bothering her. G got weighed today and at 5 weeks 5 days she weighs 10lb 2oz, up from 7lb 11oz at birth. I'm so proud of my boobies!

Momino · 26/06/2009 13:33

tummum, agree: rant away, you've got a lot going on and need to vent somewhere. Hope the party goes well tomorrow.

M&Bmummy, that's great of your dp and he probably gets to bond with L as well by giving a bottle. i'm going to start making more of an effort to express so my dh can do a 5am shift once in awhile.

grumpy, weather has turned here as well. grey clouds but no rain (yet).

belgian, will send you a separate message with my home address so you can post me some brownies [mmmmm emoticon].

I'd better go, Harper has been asleep for about a half hour but is now yelling for some reason. she usually sleeps longer in the middle of the day .

flippineck · 26/06/2009 14:41

Hello all!

tummum - hope you get a bit of a break this weekend, and keep letting off steam on here! DH is audaxing this weekend, but he decided he'd skip the 300 he was planning and just do a 100 instead, and even better its a local one starting at 10 so he'll only be away for the middle of the day, not the whole day.

pula - sorry to hear your news. Everyone has said everthing already so just echoing the very best wishes.

Both girls are asleep right now, A is in the sling and snoring like a very small pig, and DD1 fell asleep at the dinner table, we'd been to a soft play place (anyone else hate the smell, rowdy kids and overpriced tea?!) this morning so I think she was tired. I wish she'd make up her mind what she's doing with the day time sleeps, I hate not knowing what she's going to do!

Gert2a · 26/06/2009 15:35

Best wishes to everyone who's down.

Grumpy glad to know it's not just me singing what I'm doing... my current favourite song is 'I wipe your bum bum down'. To the tune of 'Informer'? (Think it's that I could be wrong). I've also been googling lyrics to songs like Teddy Bear's picnic and How much is that doggy in the window? It's amazing how many words to songs you forget over the years. If E doesn't sing her first words I'll be very surprised

Momino · 26/06/2009 15:55

flippin - at 'snoring like a very small pig'... sounds familiar!

OP posts:
Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 26/06/2009 16:51

Gert I didn't even need you to name the song there - in my head I sang it to the correct tune (and with that terrible slight West Indian accent a la the song)! That is precisely the sort of thing I do.

flippin yes to the very small pig - S sounds and smells like a pig a lot of the time (she just did the loudest, most smelly fart on my mum, laugh? I actually choked on my tea )

Momi Did it rain on your picnic? Mum & I went out for lunch, S atayed asleep the whole time, bliss!

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 26/06/2009 16:53

'stayed asleep'

runningmonkey · 26/06/2009 16:54

Gert - lol at 'wipe your bum bum down' might have to give that one a go later. I'm also one for singing current fave is old macdonald but I always forget what animals farms have so end up with monkeys and fish and all manner of other exotic livestock

sorry you are having a crap tim tummum. Can you book yourself a facial or something to escape for an hour and get someone to watch the dcs?

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 26/06/2009 16:57

Pula Sam is scrumptious, those photos of him in the dog top are fab.

I love chubby babies, Sophia is just developing fat folds on her legs. I want to eat her......

FiKelly · 26/06/2009 17:19

back from the doc's with g.. after a very thorough check her chest is def clear (as i hoped) she's just v congested i also mentioned her belly button still weeping and she has the granuloma thing too. ran out of time in appointment so doc said he'd discuss treatment at our 6wk chk a wk on tue.
