falled??? fallen, obv.

Slickbird · 16/06/2009 12:10

Boobz Just so we are clear on this. You are having sex TWICE A WEEK?? OMG. Don't tell my DH. I think we're doing well if we manange twice a MONTH and we haven't done it since FB was born! (But that's more because he's not had the snip yet and he's not getting near me til he does )

Wheelybug · 16/06/2009 13:10

Glad you said it Slick - Boobz ) i would tell your DH he is very lucky to be getting it twice a week. Haven't managed it since L was born and really not sure I could manage it until I stop bf-ing and get L out of our room (and, come to think of it, get DH back in our room !).

mdavza · 16/06/2009 13:24

boobz twice a week! I salute you, sista! We try at least once a week, and although I'm mostly not in the mood, I'm always glad afterwards...and so is he, obviously!!

Just posted some pictures, cheers all!

meep · 16/06/2009 13:51

slick and wheely I'm with you - not since Rosie was born - I just feel so unsexy, hate my body etc and we never go to bed at the same time - and even if we did there is a small person in the moses basket beside us!

boobz be siure you report this back to your dh - he is a lucky man!

Been to HV and saw nurse who does the jabs and she thinks Rosie is good to go for them tomorrow (as per what you said slick - I think I was just worried about overloading her wee system.

slick I think blokes lecture because they want to fix things when all we really want is sympathy and a big hug!

Slick

You can quote me if you like i think we had sex once between having dd2 (sept 07) and me getting pg when she was 10mths old. And we haven't yet managed it since ds was born.

Although i now on the pill until DH has the snip next month and gets the all clear. So hopefully we can start again.

Grinning

Yes i think all babies get that smelly/rotting milk smell. I would also check the ears as well the neck.

I have to say I've been lucky with ds as he has been sleeping through for the last week from 6/7pm to 6am. After dd1 who didn't sleep through the night until she was 2yrs. And having to force feed dd2 milk until she weaned.

Slickbird · 16/06/2009 14:48

Meep You are so right! That's all I need! Him to say, "There, there - you're doing a barrie job" and then give me a hug!

I know what you mean about not wanting to overload her system - I delayed getting the MMR with DD2 as she was constantly ill whilst at nursery and the HV recommended waiting until she was fitter and pointed out that in Lanarhshire and Glasgow the Health Boards there wait til 16 months or so as babies tend to get better after a run of building up their immune systems. I was def happier with that.

Gotta go get DD1. Groundhog day.....

grinningbee · 16/06/2009 15:37

I am also in awe of twice a week!! Erm, twice in 10 weeks here Actually, more like twice in 12 seeing as for the last week and a bit of being pg we didn't either... it doesn't bode well for trying for the next baby, does it!

Thanks for the heads up about checking ears Lizzie that's one little gem I already found (how do they get it in so many places???). It's no wonder I'm always having to clean her hands of fluff as bm seems to be such sticky stuff. Oh, and Corgi we've also had armpit cheese here too.

Gosh. You must all think I'm terrible and never wash the poor little mite!

Btw, is 24 inches (61cm) long for a 10 week old? She seems quite long to me, but I have no idea if it's where she should be iyswim.

laumiere · 16/06/2009 18:37

LOL boobz I'm the one pestering DH for sex! Though since he only has 1 weekend off a month and likes to have a drink or five then, we've only managed it a handful of times since Gabe was born.

laumiere · 16/06/2009 19:25

Just posted up some more pics. Some of my cute boys and a couple of the Revelo (clip on sidecar).

lolianja I don't know if the Revelo might be useful for you when your twinnies arrive, if you get a one behind the other pushchair you can attach Jimmy to the side. They're about £80 online.

Laurenypops · 16/06/2009 20:39

Another nod of respect from me boobz! I've never felt less sexy in my life!

After a 'challenging' day with Hannah yesterday, a much better one today. She seems to be starting longer spells of awakeness, which is surprisingly making life easier. Plus one waking last night between 6pm and 7am, when DD1 kindly woke her!

meep hope the nappy rash is improving. Have you heard of Burts Bees? They do an excellent nappy cream that is 99% natural, and has worked every time for us. They also do a talc free dusting powder, which is great for smelly necks, ears and underarms!

laumiere we've also got a buggypod which DD1 is very happy in. It does take longer to get 'round town though, as we have to keep stopping to discuss it with people!

Starshinetiger · 16/06/2009 21:43

Keep getting chance to read, but not to post. V. envious of sleeping babies and sympathetic/empathetic to those without. DD had fantastic night on Sat - went down by 8pm, woke at 1.30pm (I woke before her!) and at 4.30pm and then up at 6.30am - that was a really good night for us. Has been pants again since
Tonight (unusually) she wouldn't settle until 9pm - she must have heard me say I was planning to do my exercise dvd if she was down by 8pm - consequently, I've eaten half a pack of biccies instead
Tomorrow, am going to get DH to try her on a bottle in morning again - have just 3.5 weeks to get her to take one if I want to go on my best friend's hen day.
Boobz - am also in awe of 2x a week - DH has been fortunate enough once so far in 13 weeks - then DD woke less than an hour later and I was none too pleased at having missed out on my sleep - am sure we will get back into it as soon as she starts sleeping better. Last night she did do 3.5 hours between going back down at 10.30 and waking at 2, but DS was awake with cough at midnight - aaargh!
For those of you with wet/sticky neck babies, an alternative to a bib is tying a muslin like a neckerchief round their necks - is great for catching dribble/sickiness.
Can't remember all else I've read - wishing - am now off to look at all your piccies!

Boobz · 16/06/2009 22:03

Wow - I didn't realise we were such rampant rabbits! DH is really great and I only want to feel close to him, so I don't like making him feel like he's the one making all the effort, but I do feel a bit better now seeing the above! Don't you all get badgered every now and then though? Or do all your DH's not mind? Just curious.

Back to Penelope - she is still rubbish at the bottle and howled all evening when we tried to give her one. She cried herself to sleep and then woke up an hour later, hungry. Gave her the boob and she was much happier, but we have got to crack this so me and DH can go away overnight in July. Argh! Any advice? She knows how to do it as she HAS done it a few times, but recently seems to have gone on strike...

Rosie's nappy rash is clearing up, I am so relieved, I've had that stressed "my baby isn't well" feeling since Thursday

She had almost open sores yesterday - but a combination of Cannestan, Bepanthen and nappy off time has helped. Also realising that she did a runny poo about 10mins after every bottle meant that she got changed a lot yesterday.

The wisdom from my HV is that she may have had a wee bug which can leave them lactose intolerant for a while and this is what comes out after each bottle. It may last a few weeks then settle down. If she's well, happy and drinking her normal milk then I'm not to worry.

This does make sense - any medical folk out there to confirm it though?!

lauren thanks for the tips about Burts Bees - i will need to get some to add to my arsenal of botty creams !

slick I bnever tried the egg whites - am too scared to as I also read on here about possible allergic reactions and I am a big wuss

wheely you posted ages ago about changing L's position in the Close. I have a confession, I haven't even used mine since Rosie was about 4 wo . She seems to be a baby that loves her pranm and to stretch out without being handled. She doesn't really like cuddled to sleep and wants to be left alone to get on with it. I must try it outward facing though to see if she likes it.

boobz I've ALWAYS had a higher sex drive than DH, and with the night shifts he's complaining his is non-existent! (Maybe an answer for anyone feeling pestered?) Although he argues most men have lower sex drives than women think.

Oh and DIRE WARNING time! Anyone whose LO rolled even a little BEWARE! Gabriel just went head first off the sofa onto our wood floor. I was actually sitting right next to him on the sofa, turned away to get a baby wipe and he was off. After the initial screaming (I always worry far less if they scream) he seems fine, but now has a cracking bruise by his eye.

jollyjoanne · 17/06/2009 10:30

Eeek, I am so glad Mae hasn't mastered rolling yet. Although she seems to be an owl she turns her head so far round and will almost bend in half (backwards) sometimes when she is lying down and she wants to see something or someone.

A friend of mine had mentioned Burts Bees but it is quite expensive and can only be found in the bigger Boots.

Laumiere love the photos, and gosh your little one has a proper head of hair! It Mae looks like a little boy with her still close to baldness - I'll be one of those mums putting a little bow on her blad head just so people know she's a girl.

Boobz Pen and Mae sound very similar, Mae goes through phases of not liking the bottle. And even when she does take it she will only drink about 80mls which is no where near enough to tide her hunger so she ends up starving again in about an hour or so and wants her mummy's boobies.

lizziemun · 17/06/2009 10:47

Boobz

To be fair to dh he did drop his cross trainer on his foot about 6wks ago and crushed his big toe. Which then got infected (because he wouldn't let me take him to the hospital or dr) so he been sleeping in the spare room incase i touched it in my sleep (i fidget in bed). He finally went to the dr last week and got AB's and anti fungal tablets which have cleared the infection.

lizziemun · 17/06/2009 11:00

Ment to add before posting, does anyone have a dc that is already moving around their cot.

I put Robert with his toes at the bottom of the cot when i put him down and when i check him before i go to bed I move him back to the bottom of the cot. And when i go into him when he wakes up he is at the top of the cot again and at a 90 degree angle in his cot.

meep · 17/06/2009 11:00

jolly both my dd's have nae hair (and dd1 is almost 2!). I like to have at least one item of pink clothing on them at all times but doesn't stop some old dears from commenting on the "bonny wee laddies" - hmph!

OP posts:
Slickbird · 17/06/2009 11:24

Lizzie I have to say FB kinda stays put so far but I have a dim recolection of DD2 shuffling her way up the cot all the time - she's still like this now nearly at 21 months - we put her down and she's NEVER in the same postition when we go in to check on her! I've found her before sleeping with her coupon right up against the corner of the bars or even with both her legs dangling through the bars Oh well, whatever works!

All this nooky discussion makes me laugh and interesting that the overwhelming feeling seems to be about keeping our lovely DH's happy rather than us being desperately up for it - with the exception of Laumiere of course! I do enjoy it, I guess tho with three kids I just treasure a good book and sleep more! And I have to say, the thought of getting pregnant again is a good contraception.

Scene, Post Natal Ward;
"And what contraception will you be using Mrs V?"

"Fear".

laumiere Gorgeous pics - and so much hair!! Your DD1 is really coming on now too! Like the revelo business - great idea.
at Gabe rolling off the couch tho! Ouch! Will bear that in mind.

Meep totally understand your apprehension about the egg white. I used it on DD2 without being aware of any possible reactions but she was absolutely fine, but now that I know, whenever FB gets it, I will test it on his wrist first. My friend used it on her wee girl and it worked wonders after months of no joy, so worth testing first if you dare! Anyway, hope "Loshie" is feeling better soon and is ok for her jags.

Boobz Hope you LO takes to the bottle. It is difficult as it's just not as nice for them slurping away at a big boob!

What's with all these grinning smileys today?
I must be in a good mood or something.....

mdavza · 17/06/2009 13:23

Lizzie B moves from side to side, we put the sheet reaaly tight over him, tuck it in at the sides of the cot and that seems to prevent the sliding up - he used to do it!

We're taking him to the pediatrician just now, he maybe has a heart murmur. A bit worried but he looks so healthy...maybe in denial. Will let you know.

Slickbird · 17/06/2009 13:29

Good luck - hope it's nothing Mdavza

Wheelybug · 17/06/2009 13:31

I thought of you all today at my smear test () when the nurse asked me what we'd thought about for contraception - er... DH being in spare room. Boobz - as I am always going on about DH was v. seriously ill about 9 months ago and is still recovering and works v. long hours so to be honest is rarely in the mood at the moment (I don't think 2 years of religiously having to perform at the 'right' time helped much either). Fingers crossed it'll sort itself out eventually .

L had her 12 weeks jabs (at 14 weeks) and so far so good. She screamed the surgery down but didn't zonk out like she did at 9 weeks. Am going to calpol her at bedtime (and your leg has to be falling off to get calpol in this house ) and hope for the best.

lizzie - L is moving around in her crib, so much so I am not sure how long it is going to last despite her being so small. Yesterday afternoon I put her down for a nap in her crib (probably the first time ever its not been a nap in pushchair/boucny chair) and when I went to get her when she was crying she had wriggled right down and her legs were right through the bars and she was v. indignant. Am hoping she'll be ok for a bit longer because the cot(bed) isn't coming into our room as its mahoosive. She frequently wriggles off the playmat and is currnetly a bit of a danger in her bouncy chair as she tries to sit up and wriggles out of the chair if not firmly strapped in.
