Lizz aidan has just turned 5 and I found age 4 ok x

eandh · 16/07/2009 15:40

Rgee - 52 days till Ellei starts infants and 60 days till Hattie's first morning at preschool am jealous of your lunch!

Well I gave up and let them do what they wanted so they have had every single dressing up thing out and on and they have done painting (in the garden) we have started paper mache a balloon to make a princess's head and been to the park (and took the little girl across the road who is same age as Hattie with us)

Dinner is now in the oven (burger, chips and beans and Hattie is exhausted from her early start and Ellie actually being quiet (after asking how long it will be before we can put the christmas tree up )

Lizz - I have been known to do a smack in public but only on very rare occasions and when nothing else will work, am glad no testorone here the girls are bad enough!

Am looking forward to going to work for rest tomorrow and also ordered Ellie's bday present so picking that up

eandh · 16/07/2009 15:42

oh and mine seem to like all episodes of sam regarless of design and Ellie discovered Hannah Montanta

Lizzzombie · 16/07/2009 18:10

Had to share this bargain with you!
I know I live in Granny land, but we have a Bhs down the road, and there is a HUGE clearance sale on. I got a box of luxury 12 crackers for £1!!!! (reduced from £12) there was a brabantia bread bin reduced from £30 to £5.
I could have gone a bit mad.
They are reducing more stuff tonight, and there will be pillowcases from £1 too.

Omg, I've turned into an old granny......

Eah pmsl at E asking about the Xmas tree

Lizz am most jealous of your bread bin . And Xmas crackers . Why have they still got some left over?

Have I told you that I think I have dome my Xmas shopping already for the kids

eandh · 16/07/2009 19:21

Rgee - what have you bought them???
I have figured out why she was asking about xmas tree she only has 2 long holidays from preschool/school summer and christmas and I am assuming she was taking a guess baout christmas (although the fact it is sunny and she is yet to have her birhday hadn't occurred to her!!) I have my xmas spreadsheet ready and bought odd bits for stockings and e have decided that we are buying Ellie a proper old fashioned wooden lift up top desk but no idea for Hattie!

Lizz - bargain I am so jealous (although serious lack of money here at the moment till pay day so good thing really!!)

vinorouge · 16/07/2009 20:03

Wilkie I am sorry I've had your toddler taming book for so long. I'll post it back pronto (with enough postage on I hasten to add!). Have you managed to put your feet up after what sounds like a testing day?

The Great Yorkshire Show was brill. E loved seeing all the animals this morning - pigs, cows, horses, sheep & hens, then there was loads of foodie stands and other bits and bobs. I spent quite a lot of money but it was a good day out and yes my dad got two first prizes for his eggs.

GOing for a bath now.

Lizzzombie · 16/07/2009 20:13

smug - I've been stocking up on Thomas & Fireman Sam bits for ages (since January!!) So DJ's xmas is pretty much sorted!

EAH - Are you looking for a new or antique old fashioned desk? There is a place round the corner from me which often has lovely antique ones in for under £20.
But, I am guessing she would prefer a disney princess one?!

OP posts:
eandh · 16/07/2009 20:44

lizz we want a proper old fashioned one with the lift up lid (had them at my primary!) wonder if the shop u mentioned has a website as sounds perfect!

Lizzzombie · 17/07/2009 07:01

Eah - I will keep a look out. Whats your budget & when is her birthday? Let me know your mobile so I can text a photo of one if I see one. Then we can just meet in Hastings and I'll give it to you then. (Not sure how we'd hide it from H in the car though!)

OP posts:
Lizzzombie · 17/07/2009 07:02

(I'd be very surprised if they had a website - its a proper junky type shop)

eandh · 17/07/2009 13:07

Lizz its for Ellie's Christmas present so ages away yet I have seen one in toys r us for £50 so that is the maximum we'll spend but cheaper and a meet up sounds better than toys r us (oh and I can fob Ellie off with a little lie or from 28th Sept she'll be in school full time so could meet you without her in tow!!)

I'll fb you a message withmy number tonight - thankyou!

Self absorbed post alert:

Have had a hell of a day, been crying since I picked J up from nursery. L has been screeching ALL day - he woke at 12noon after a nice walk in town and then didn't go back off until about an hour ago. Went to pick up J from nursery and his keyworker asked me for a word. Apparently he has been a little horror all day, he kicked one of the staff, has been snatching, pushing and screaming. She said it wasn't the J they know and love and asked if he had been like it at home. I said that he has been much nore challenging this week - I think the novelty of L worn off - but was absolutely gutted that he had done that at nursery.

I asked him why he had been so naughty and he just said 'Erm, well, just was' in a sweet little voice. I just cried and cried - have PMT (I think) and, according to the NHS website, swine flu (I think it is just a cold. My symptoms are headache, sore throat and runny nose?!). So we made J make a 'sorry' card for the lady he kicked, told him off and put him to bed with no story or hot chocolate.

Feeling very blue

laughalot · 20/07/2009 22:20

Wilkie its all very normal to feel hormonal and horrified at what jj did. It is a big thing for a new person to enter there little lives.

Do you remember e pulling h out of her moses basket ? Remember me posting about a dragging l by her legs to his toy box ?

Its is such a big shock to there lives and he maybe now is realising that l is here to stay. Chin up be strong and ring me if you need a chat xxx

Pcf thomas land is fab

Lizzzombie · 21/07/2009 06:56

Morning!
Wilks - Sorry to hear you had a bad day, hope today is better.
PCF - Thomas land looks fab doesn't it, but its such a long way to go for one day. You could investigate family rooms at local YHA's, that could be cheaper than a B&B if you were thinking of staying over.
LAL - Hope you are good.
Rgee - Congratulations on your anniversary (& your Next sale bargains!).
LTH - Good to see you on here again hope all is well with you too.

I have my ultrasound (on boobs this afternoon). I'm trying not to get worried as I am sure if the nurse consultant had been concerned she would have organised a scan in quicker time.
Dylan is in nursery all day today as I'm at work this morning and the appt is at 2pm. DP couldn't get the time off to come with me. So I am hoping that they don't have to drain anything as I don't want to be doing bath time having had a needle in my tit!
Please all keep your fingers crossed for me!

Have a good day everyone! xxx

Lizz thinking of you today. Hope it goes well this afternoon.

Wilkie hope today has started off better. If I remember (back all those weeks), the 5/6 weeks period was about the worst for me. Is L approaching 5 weeks? Your hormones crash and tiredness has really built up. B was a horror at 5 weeks - all week he screamed cried for about 4 hours a day.
You say you are coming down with a cold (me too - hope it's nothing more sinister) - perhaps J has got it too? You and nursery know he doesn't normally behave like that.

PCF hope you're enjoying your new laptop

Erm trying to think what I've got the kids for Xmas. I have a leappad and game thingy for Pippa; My Little Pony with board game; books; fairy electric toothbrush set; Disney coloured pencils set; Iggle Piggle soft toy/pj holder. For Ben got him an ELC light/sounds robot thing; books; INTG backback. There are a few other bits for P but I can't actually remember them. Don't think I'll get anything else for B as he'll be so young. He can have P's wrapping paper . Will prob get P a bike for her 3rd birthday.

Reggiee · 21/07/2009 10:16

PCF x-posted. Must be so hard to try to predict what will set A off. Must be really distressing for you .
B now 12 1/2 weeks, and am really hoping to get his tummy troubles sorted this afternoon (finally the doctors appointment has come round). He has been so much better this last week (magic 3 months!) but just not quite right.
He's due his second set of jabs too, but has been sneezing a little this morning, and I have been blowing my nose, so not sure if I'll go ahead today....

laughalot · 21/07/2009 17:13

lizz how did you get on ?

Lizzzombie · 21/07/2009 19:14

Rgee & PCF - I can't believe its been over 12 weeks already since your little ones arrived! Wheres' that gone?!

PCF - Hope Alex is ok now. Good luck with Yellow Blob Avoidance over the next few weeks! x

  • Thanks for asking after me.
All is fine. Apparently I just have lumpy boobs. She did an ultra sound on the one which the nurse thought was lumpy and found nothing. She said that as we get older our breast tissue changes from firm to fatty and the lumpiness was totally normal. The ultrasound gel made my tit go freezing cold and it was weird having one hot and one cold boob for most of the afternoon! Its a huge weight off to know that I have normal boobs as they have changed so much since having DJ. (still 3 cup sizes bigger & much saggier!!) So, at least I have a benchmark for any changes from this point onwards. I know I am one of the lucky ones & its certainly made me learn how to examine myself properly... ...as I hope you all do too! xxx

ps. DJ spent the whole day in nursery today as my appt was in the afternoon & I was working in the morning. When I picked him up at 5pmish he was zonked. Fell asleep on the sofa before tea. I woke him up for tea, he ate a bit, then threw it all up over the table. Very odd.
He has no temperature.
He is now tucked up fast asleep in bed, with no tea, no milk or no story. Not like him at all. My poor baby. He kept saying "it was an accident" over and over.
