I am too too too excited about Lapland that I may explode!

Reggiee · 14/12/2009 21:21

Ohhhh, Xmas smilies

ENjoy Eah, and come back to the thread to tell us all about it.

Hiya Lizz . You ready for Xmas?

Shimmer, is the baby here yet?

Reggiee · 16/12/2009 09:03

Shimmer - you still with us.....?

Shimmer · 16/12/2009 12:46

Yep. Still no baby

DD was yesterday and had 40wk appointment with midwife who said everything looked fine and just had to sit it out and wait. I just really hope it arrives in the next week. I'm a bit scared of having to start talking about inductions etc next week, but am desperate for it to arrive before Christmas.

Shimmer · 16/12/2009 12:53

Oh forgot to say (it's all me me me these days!) congratualtions on winning the Lapland trip eah. It sounds amazing!!!

Reggiee · 16/12/2009 14:11

Hi Shimmer . The day before I went into early labour with B, I had a full on day. Went into town to do lots of shopping, cleaned the windows, but most importantly, danced for a whole hour to Take That.
I also remember having a really busy day the day before I had P.
Think the TT dancing did it tbh. Worth a try .

eandh · 16/12/2009 18:59

Oh shimmer huge sympathies hopefully baby be out soon (am so glad never went past 39 weeks with mine)

Rgee - hows the loft?

Am almost sorted for lapland bought all the bits we needed like thermals/snow mitts and thankfully part of the prize id reimbursement for these bits. Having slight panic as heavy snow due tomorrow and Friday but looking better for weekend and we dont fly until very early morning Sunday so fingers crossed for clear runways (obviously pilots used to taking off/landing in snow as Kittila has 3ft of snow at the moment)

Its so funny as Ellie keeps mentioning north pole/lapland and we have said it costs so much money that we would never be able to take her and she said it was OK but if we ever had enough money could we take her (my SIL/BIL took neice/nephew 3 years ago and they were telling her about it before we knew we had won )

2Happy · 17/12/2009 13:09

Congrats, eandh, what a winning streak! Hope you all have a fantastic time in Lapland. Lots of snow showers here today, but it melts inbetween each shower, so hope that carries on and doesn;t affect air travel. (Hope you're also not travelling BA....)

Shimmer - oh, massive hugs. Going over is pants (says me who went 2 weeks over with both). I hope you go soon, but if you don't the second week is better than the first where you jump at every twinge! And induction's really not that bad, honest. Water-bursting positive thoughts your way x

BH's kicking in here. I knew they'd be worse this time and they are! And I have a UTI and am on antibiotics and they're making me feel really rough. I feel like a right nutter, but to be fair I know they gave me antibiotics for ds2's c/s, and I had some for (another) UTI last year, but otherwise, don't reacall ever having antibiotics in my life, and my mum can't remember me ever having had them as a child either, so I don't think I've ever had these particular ones before. Don't think I'll be volunteering to have them again! I'm a right ray of sunshine

Wilkie - glad the business is getting going

Reg - how's the loft

Lizz - is work manic pre-Christmas?

Reggiee · 20/12/2009 19:03

Just checking in for news of Shimmer - you still here and fed up??

2H I had BH for ages with ds and I'm sure that's why my labour was ridiculously short . Hope your UTI has gone and you are back to your almost sane self

Thinking of Eah in Lapland

Hello to any lurkers.

Loft still not finished. Grrr. Really doing my head in. I want the scaffolding off, the skip removed so we can park in our driveway again. FFS, they only have a tiny bit of insulation to put in then to clear out their rubbish, then pi$$ off (can you tell I'm really hacked off with it now?).

Lizzzombie · 21/12/2009 18:21

Just thought I waltz in and put a dampner on things prior to xmas. Have had the SHITTIEST weekend of my life.

  1. Was 20 mins late for wedding service (DP was best man) on Saturday afternoon. Due to ice and also due to Dylan falling asleep as he was up most of Friday night.
  2. After the service Dylan was fine, for 2 hours, until we all sat down to eat, when after I'd eaten 1 mouthful of my starter he threw up all over me.
  3. DP quickly drove us back to the hotel in central brighton, then drove back to do his speech & for the rest of the wedding.
  4. I was back in the hotel room by 6pm. Dyla was asleep by 7pm. I fell asleep at 9pm.
  5. Woke up at 10pm Dylans temperature was sky high, dosed him up and he was awake until 2.30am (DP got in at 1am) I got back to sleep about 3am, woke up at 6am with Dylan boiling hot again.
  6. Drove home, following DP as he had borrowed mates car. He went the wrong way, and stopped. I braked (on the ice), skidded and bashed the left hand back corner (with Dylan in his seat) of our car against the right hand back corner of his mates car. Swerved into the middle of the road, about 10m away from a river. If I had been going at any kind of speed I would have ended up in there.

Stupid wedding
Stupid ice
Stupid car
Stupid weekend

Glad its all over.

2Happy - Work is mental. I have to work the next 2 days FT to make up for having Saturday off for the wedding which I never actually went to.
Shimmer - Whats happening??????? Any baby yet?!
Rgee - Thankyou for your birthday greetings! Hope scaffolding on your house won't impair Santa delivering your presents! x

OP posts:
Reggiee · 21/12/2009 20:22

Aww Lizz that does sound shit. No doubt you'vre been told this by millions of people, but at least you and DJ were ok if not badly shaken. Cars can be fixed. How's D now?

Reggiee · 21/12/2009 21:55

CONGRATS SHIMMER!!!!!

Looking forward to hearing from you and seeing a piccy of baby Belle. Hope F is enjoying his new baby sister xxx

2H you're next

Shimmer · 21/12/2009 22:59

Hi all. Vivienne Belle Tyrrell finally arrived an only slightly delayed 4 days late in the end! She was born at 9:30pm on Saturday evening after a mercifully quick labour and straightforward delivery. I went and complicated things slightly with some serious blood loss afterwards though which meant i had to stay in hospital til this morning. But back home now with some serious iron suppliments and starting to feel more human again (even despite having slept about 4 hours in the last 3 days!!).

Freddie is loving his new baby sister. He has been telling everyone all about her and what she likes/doesn't like etc which is hilarious. And asking awkward questions like "how did you get her out of your tummy?" and "where's her willy?"!!!

eandh · 22/12/2009 06:07

Shimmer - congrats and glad she arrived befor Xmas! Beautiful name and glad you are okay (eeeugh at iron tablets though iirc they tasted disgusting) Love Freddie's reaction

Lizz - Oh no about Saturday and agree with what Rgee said the main thing is you are safe. Hope work is ok for you

Rgee - I hope roof done soon for you

In amongst all the snow we had down here at the weekend (7 inches on Friday) we made it to Gatwick and flights were pretty much on time (15mins delay)the girls loved every minute although Hattie was too young to understand it all and I had to keep taking her into the warming cabin as she did get cold very quickly (even though she had thermals/3 more layers and a snowsuit but she would not keep her gloves on ) Ellie did not stop laughing and smiling all day and told us on the plane home it was the best day of her life ever which made the very long day (3.30am to 11.45pm) worth it . Not sure we'll top it next year though

laughalot · 22/12/2009 12:44

Reggiee · 28/12/2009 09:58

HAPPY XMAS all. Hope yu had a great day.

Hi Wilkie - long time no see. Hope you and the gorg boys are well. Sounds like business is going well atm

|Morning EaH. Hope you survive the day. Dh out runnimng (on the ice ) so i've got P snuggling up to me whilst she watches the gruffalo - again. b asleep . not sure what to do today tho.

had lovely xmas at inlaws. p at age she really enjoyed it. we were all spoilt.
birthday in 3 more sleeps. i'm not doing a party but we're hopuing to go to townfor the NYE fireworks and festivities late afternoon. Weather permitting.

(just had to do this emoticon for P who has started being more interested in MN!

2Happy · 28/12/2009 10:30

We're on our own today too. dh was off thursday and friday only. The roads are completely lethal here - it snowed constantly on Christmas Eve morning, was the whitest Christmas I can ever remember. But lots of sleet yesterday and it all started melting, but -7 degrees this morning so has frozen solid. Can't even walk from house to car without going flying, so driving out of the question. Another day of lego then... (Why is there no cabin fever emoticon?!)

Crumbs. Birthdays. where did those 3 years go?? Hope you all have lovely days. I suppose I have no excuse for not doing a party for ds2, since I will be on maternity leave by then. On the other hand, er can't be bothered!! Scan on wednesday to tell me baby's position, so hopefully know then whether I'll be allowed to try a VBAC or not.

(for P!!)

eandh · 28/12/2009 14:50

RGEE - bless P sounds cute (is loft done yet?)

2happy - fingers crossed for scan I cant believe they'll be 3 soon the last year has flown by (although Hattie's tempers have incresed by 100 x in the last few weeks I remember 3 being worse than 2 with Ellie ) hope the ice clears soon, we had thick ice last week (after snow week before) and I fell on the way to work and the bottom of my back (cant remember the word) is still killing me I am like an old lady getting up or sitting down!

On a positive note my Mum rang and said would the girls like to go up there this morning as my great uncle was visiting so dropped them off and then headed to shops and ordered Hattie a new bed (found a company that makes them at 5"9 long which means we can rearrange her room to give her more space) also ordered a wardrobe with drawers in the bottom so we can get rid of her chest of drawers. My Dad is going to collect the bed in his van tomorrow as they charge £29 delivery (they are 3 miles away from my house ) think wardrobe will be a few weeks till delivered.

At the moment Hattie is still wizzing round the house on her electric scooter (best present ever purchased as she has not stopped playing with it and the £5 toy washing line ) and Ellie doing some foil scratching thing my aunt bought her (and I am attempting not to take over and just let her do it her way)

Reggiee · 29/12/2009 18:21

Loft is apparently being finished "tomorrow". We shall see (that is just the building work btw - we then have electrics plumbing decorating etc etc).

Shimmer · 29/12/2009 21:36

Hi all. Hope you all had a lovely Christmas! We've all been at my parents in London, and are there till 2nd i think.
Ohhh... Belle's just waking up after a very short nap... very quick post then....
All is going well with Belle, who's 10 days old now. I've swapped to bottle feeding already! I just really don't seem to be cut out for breast feeding. Also (this is kind of terrible) but we were been sooooo busy in the run up to christmas and with loads of family here that i got completely fed up of spending hours feeding! And sometimes having to disappear off to the bedroom or something, because there are some people you just don't want to feed in front of!! Anyway, on formula now and everyone happy

She's sleeping amazingly well at the moment. Goes to bed with us about 11ish, then up for 1 feed at 4am-ish and then sleeps till about 8am. I don't think F did that till he was about 1!! I'm guessing it won't last......

Just thinking about organising a birthday party for F. 3 already!

Reggiee · 30/12/2009 20:49

Hi Shimmer. Really glad to hear things are going well. Have you posted your birth story? Would love to hear the gory details.

Yup, we're approaching those 3rd birthdays. P's is tomorrow. Not having a party, but all she wants is a cake with 3 candles on it. Bless her. So she's got that, plus a doll house which dh has just put together Looks fab, but just debating where to put it.

2H how was the scan?

HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all. See you next year
