LackaDAISYcal · 15/06/2009 12:10

vbab, you could just say it's family only....

coolkat, sorry you are still feeling ill. I hope they can get to the bottom of it and get you some medicine that works.

obs....sounds like a lovely weekend. I long for a calm and collected weekend.

Ours had gone pretty well, DS1 was being a charmer; he has got a new friend to play with in the street and has had a nice time...then he came in for his dinner and was horrible. Refused to eat what we were eating, called me names, threatened to hit me with his wooden sword (he had it raised and everything). And all because he didn't want chicken for dinner

ChocO....I need help with the baby jogger city mini. Once it's folded, should it click into place to lock? If I try and stand it up it just unfolds itself......it's driving me bonkers!

ChocOrange05 · 15/06/2009 13:09

daisy there is no lock but there is a little latch on the side, it's about 3 inches long and thin and it clips over a button that sticks out. If you can't find it FB me your phone number and I can tell you over the phone. It isn't easy though as you need to close it quite tight - DH can do it easily but I need to use my muscles - and I am a wimp!

LackaDAISYcal · 15/06/2009 13:29

thanks Choc......am off to find it now

LackaDAISYcal · 15/06/2009 13:39

nothing obvious; maybe different on the twin?

...and now I've unfolded it it won't fold up again; it goes to a v-shape but no further and then rolls out again.......aaaaargh

coolkat · 15/06/2009 14:08

Bit more composed now ladies, my apologies.

I have blepharitis I think and my face and surrounding glands are swollen and painful because of the infection. Not happy with doc as won't give oral antibiotics til weds so stuck with drops and feeling shit til then. I cried. Both eyes blurred and I think I have passed it over to other eye Your right it never rains until it pours. X

Oh I would love a BJCM or Bee but no money Rahhhh

LackaDAISYcal · 15/06/2009 14:33

why won't your GP give oral ABs coolkat? sounds like you need them.

Could you go to A&E or a walk in centre?

LackaDAISYcal · 15/06/2009 14:34

and no need to apologise; you sounded really miserable

LadyBuzz · 15/06/2009 14:56

Hi everyone,
Thanks for the kind messages, I have been with her all morning she is in bits bless her. They have no idea what has happened.
I have also just found out that a lad I used to go to school was found dead in his bed yesterday morning. This is turning into a pretty shocking week!
We had such a fab day on saturday at the wedding we went too and it has gone down hill rapidly since then!
I am counting my blessings today and feeling very very lucky for what I have got!

Coolkat hope you feel better soon it must be cack.

chocolategal · 15/06/2009 16:57

Big hugs LB and cookat def sounds like you need oral AB's to get on top of the infection. When did you say your DH was home?

I have been looking at BJCM's on eBay as I really want to keep my buzz too. Will have to wait until I'm back at work to buy one anyway.
choco I saw your buzz for sale and think that's a very generous price! I think they go for a bit more than that on eBay?

Been to gp about DS's eczema, she was really nice and basically prescribed what I asked for and put it all on repeat prescription including the AB & steroid so I can get them if I need them easily. She's also advised avoiding cows milk for a week or 2 and see if it makes a difference. Oh and to not give anything egg related again until he's 1.

ChocOrange05 · 15/06/2009 17:48

chocgal you want my buzz ?? I've had no responses yet!

Daisy the latch is next to the hood, probably only on one side. Can you phone the "friend" you borrowed it from and get them to explain. Given their vested interest in your product enjoyment surely they will want to be helpful?!?

Coolkat A big hug to you - things sound tough.

chocolategal · 15/06/2009 17:56

Really choco I thought it would sell fast at that price!?
Makes me rethink how much I'm willing to pay for a 2nd hand bjcm!

AFingerofFudge · 15/06/2009 20:21

coolkat hope you're feeling a bit better this evening. Sounds like you're having it really rough.
lacks it was me who said I put socks on M's hands to stop him scratching in his sleep! Hope your DH is ok.

M is still gagging away. Am going to leave it a few days and then try again. I don't know if his tongue problems have anything to do with it (he had a severe tongue tie front and back which has been snipped although his tongue isn't as "loose" as other babies. He can't stick it out for example). Might put in a rare appearance at the baby clinic and ask a HV.

On the subject on small pushchairs, although I have my bugaboo which I love, I have as my "small" buggy, a Graco Citisport.
I had only a citisport for both DS1 and 2 and totally loved it. When we lived in London, it was so handy for nipping on and off buses, and for carrying up and down the steps at tube and train stations. It is light, folds with one hand and has a huuuuge basket. I really wanted a bugaboo for M, but I also bought a 2nd hand citisport off ebay. I do normally use the bugaboo, but today I used the citisport as I went on the train to Swindon to visit DH at work and show off M! The people in his office were really kind when he was born and bought loads of lovely prezzies, so I felt bad I hadn't taken him in. Anyway, my point being the citisport is easy for getting on and off the train. Check it out if anyones interested. there's always one or two for sale on ebay.

LB how you doing? you must have had a tough day too??

Ceebee74 · 15/06/2009 20:24

Evening all

Buzz gosh I am so for your friend - that is every parent's nightmare

Coolkat sorry you are feeling so low aswell - I am sure your mood is being made worse by being ill. And sh*t timing about your DH being away

Daisy woohoo to you and your DH - I hope it was worth the wait

Have got my ultrasound scan tomorrow for my gallbladder - even though I am 99% certain that is what it is, I am a bit nervous about what they will find. I have to fast for 6 hours before the scan which is going to be torture as my scan isn't until 2pm

ellielou02 · 15/06/2009 20:27

Hello ladies will catch up properly later, just had a quick skim through.
ladybuzz at your friends loss just truly awful.
daisy hope your DH is a bit better today.
coolkat at your GP not giving you antibiotics that ointment obviously not doing much, you christening photos are lovely though, your new clothes were very nice Its shit when you are on your own and everything seems to go wrong at once, when is your DH home?? Hope its soon and you feel better soon and your girls.
We have been really busy shifting rooms about (still at it) seems like we have been doing it for ages. I had my sisters hen night on saturday and felt rough as a badgers arse yesterday, it was good at the time though.
vbab your day shopping sounds lovely!

I saw you ladies always on about scrabble so tried it and now addicted!!

cricri · 15/06/2009 21:00

Ladybuzz for your poor friend. How awful, it doesn't bear thinking about
Coolkat Sorry you're having such a hard time atm as well. I can't believe your GP won't give you ABs until Wednesday - why?? Especially as the drops don't seem to be giving you much relief. It's tough being ill when you're on your own isn't it - hope you feel better soon.
Ceebee Good luck for your scan tomorrow, hope you get some answers. Poor you having to fast from 8am though - I'd really struggle too!
Obs Sounds like a lovely weekend to me We had a quiet one at home, which was lovely, especially with the gorgeous weather here.
Well, I don't want to tempt fate, but E has settled so much better the past couple of nights. I've had her in bed by 6.15 and she's had a feed and fallen asleep very quickly. I can't believe I didn't spot the fact that she was getting overtired - I was so hung up with the 2h cycle thing that if she woke from a nap at 3pm then I'd get her to nap again at 5pm and then start the evening routine when she woke up half an hour later. Tonight she woke from her nap at 3.15pm, and although I think 3h is a long stretch for her to be awake, she was definitely easier to settle this evening than if she'd had another nap at 5.15pm. I suppose she'll get used to longer stretches between naps.
There was some discussion about naps recently - how often and how long are all your LOs sleeping for? I know every baby is different, but I can't get E to nap for any length of time during the day. She has a half hour nap every 2 hours or so but no long sleep, or very rarely so she sleeps for a total of 2 hours at most during the day.

chocolategal · 15/06/2009 21:14

hi everyone
Fudge, hope the hv is able to help with the gagging.
Goodluck tomorrow ceebee, you'll have to have a really nice tea to make up for fasting.
Lovely christening pics coolkat, your outfit looks great.
Cricri, naps are different every day here but normally E has a morning nap, roughly 3 hours after getting up,only for 30-40minutes. Then usually around 1,2 ish he will have his long nap of 1 1/2-2hours then this is him until bedtime. Sometimes he has a late afternoon nap and we jyst make his bedtime later. He is normally awake fir around 3 hours at a time.

ellielou02 · 15/06/2009 21:18

X posted loads lol
ceebee good luck for your scan tomorrow
fudge hope M's gagging gets better soon.
cricri I put M down for a nap at about 9ish for about 45 mins to an hour but then it could be 10 ish depending on when she gets up, then she goes down at about 12.30 ish for about an hour and a quarter sometimes longer sometime shorter, very occasionally she will have a cat nap late afternoon, HTH.
I like the look of the BCMJ but harped on and on about the quinny that feel I darent say anything lol.
Oh got my new tiger ittis today

Yorky · 15/06/2009 21:21

LB, thats awful, especially as it sounds sudden,
Lacks, I hope DH feels better soon
Glad the christening went well, hope the ABs are worth the wait

This weekend was hard work as DH was working both days, and even though my dad was here I don't feel like I've had any breather. Airshow was good apart from DS being scared to tears by the red arrows coming in loud from behind him when he wasn't expecting them. He recovered and enjoyed watching them though.

PinkyMinxy · 15/06/2009 21:33

hello all

LB so sorry to hear your news.

coolkat you poor thing sounds awful, and on top of not having DH to help out, too.

Wahey for Daisy well done you!

Cricri thanks for your message, glad you lied the blanket and that E s sleeping better.
ceebee good luck for tomorrow.

Mimi has opted for BLW, likes mushy stuff but wants to hold the spoon herself or get her hands in! But she's eating most things as they come.
Had a lovely day out with her yesterday, but I missed the troops by the end of it.

DS brought a bug garden home today. He had made it himself and it had three snails a worm and several woodlice in it. Bless. we set them free in the croft (didn't put it on my fridge as friend suggested ).

PinkyMinxy · 15/06/2009 21:34

that's liked, not lied!

vbab78 · 15/06/2009 21:41

coolkat - sorry to hear you are still feeling low. Just looked up your eye prob on nhs direct. You poor lovely. Hope you are feeling better soon. COULD I ASK YOU A QUESTION ON A COMPLETELY DIFF NOTE? When we met you said you were trying out a new sun cover for the buggy because the other "big" one was pants. Which sun cover would you recommend? Just I need to buy one for Alyssa's when we go to Portugal.
ladybuzz - Already said but feel so sorry for your friend and her loss. 20mths old . What happened? Been and checked my kids in bed more than my normal 100 times due to being paranoid.
lacks - My DS and yours sound very similar with their dual personalities and the fact it changes depending on whether out or at home. Like your advice regarding the christening. Although some other friends are invited and some are godparents so still not sure what to do.
NORTH MEET UP - Have I missed the details?

LackaDAISYcal · 15/06/2009 22:42

cricri...no definate nap regime here, but he generally has a couple of 20 min naps in the morning and than a longer sleep of about 45mins-1 hour in the afternoon. Depends what we are doing and whether out and about or not. We have no set routine which is good as we can be a bit more flexible in our routine.

It's looking likely DH will be off to the hospital tomorrow as his arm is getting worse. No temperature though, so that's one good thing.

chocolategal · 15/06/2009 22:46

Daisy, he might need a small op (under local hopefully) to wash it out properly or for 24-48 hours of IV AB's. We get this in our ward lots!
It's a good sign though that his temp is ok.

Off to bed, night all

vbab78 · 16/06/2009 06:59

naps - Alyssa normally bed 6.30pm ish wakes 6am onwards and chats over the baby monitor until about 7am. Although was 5.25am wake this morn . Tends to have a little nap (20mins+) starting between 9.30am-10.30am. Then another longer nap 1pm onwards. Some days she may have a very small nap about 5pm but then goes to bed very latest 7.30pm.

Oblomov · 16/06/2009 07:51

No real nap routine here either. I just let him do what he wants.
But roughly 1/2 an hour to 45 minutes at about 10 am. Then 1-2 hrs at 1-2pm. Sometimes at quick nap , say for 30 mintes at 3.30 when we do the school run. Sometimes not.
I let it all go because his sleeping is so much better than what it was in the first 3 months. God what a nightmare that was. Then at about 3-4 months he slept through. And he has been doing so for some time now. Maybe once a week he wakes up for a feed at 3am or 5am. And of course I can cope with this, so I don't take that much notice of how much he sleeps. I just let him have whatever he needs.
