LackaDAISYcal · 10/06/2009 22:24

I hope J is feeling better tomorrow AL.

and that you didn't get into trouble for guffawing out loud at work

I best get on with my ebay selling enterprise, we have a few grands worth of stuff we can sell just lying around not being used.....it'll pay for the new bathroom at least.

AutumnLady · 10/06/2009 22:37

Thanks Lacks, I'll let you know how he is. Can you tell he's my first rushing to the dr at the slightest twinge of a cold

No trouble in the office, there are only 2 of us plus my boss who was out voting on something important anyway. my colleague is cool and was suffering a hangover so didn't notice much!

You have reminded me that I need to crack on with ebaying my Bugaboo and a few other bits - that will help fund my deposit on a new place (rental) if I ever get my backside in gear

LackaDAISYcal · 10/06/2009 22:46

For Pinky

tegan · 11/06/2009 06:54

Book marking

I promise i will try to catch up later today xx

sparkletoes · 11/06/2009 06:56

Haey!! (excited squeal)

Ah it is just like old times, reading all the chat... So missed you guys and thankyou all for welcoming me back to the fold !!

Haha Ceebs, my scrabble skills are waining due to lack of playing - esp now Monkey is on hols!!

(waves back) to Lacka am in same position re: finances since I was made redundant in March I am particularly finding food shopping a nightmare, it seems to go up in price weekly??!! Had to cancel my Tesco delivery last week after the bill came to £185!!!!!!!!!! WTF?!

Have now started using Asda's delivery and it is way cheaper so that has held off my plans for going to the shops myself to buy the food!! It is the one luxury I afford myself at moment!

Wasn't able to post last night as (wait for it) I was at the gym!! LOL! I have never even set foot in such a place before but desperate times.. I really want to shift the extra stone I have put on this time around

Wow to Phee LO on the crawling already!

Ds2 cannot crawl and can barely sit up but he was able to roll over very quickly and got 2 teeth at 4 months old. Ds1 was the same and it was the whole teeth issue that eventually stopped bfeeding last time. Suffice to say I am sticking at it and gritting my teeth when he sinks his own little nashers into me

Tinytoes (Ds2) is also getting introduced to foods that Ds1 didn't even get near til much later!! He is having a drop of apple juice in his water, has had a few choc buttons, a chip ..or 3!! Needless to say he has survived LOL!

Loving the Horlicks idea Autumn!! Have also been ebaying stuff and sold my nursing chair last week. Even had a wee tear in my eye as it was taken away!! Stupid woman!

Am pretty tired as Tiny was up at 5.15 but he was down at 8pm so this is in fact progress. However at least when he got up at 2am he would go back to sleep!! Grr

Love to all XOXO

phee96 · 11/06/2009 09:12

Thanks for the lovely comments everyone. I'm very proud of her but we are nowhere near babyproofed so I'm watching her like a hawk at the moment.

Hi Sparkle I'm forever dropping off the thread

AutumnLady I hope J is feeling better

FoF Sounds like you had a lovely day out

Coolkat I hope your eye if feeling better this morning and that you have a lovely day on Sunday

Had a bad night here. A was unsettled all evening, waking about every 60 to 90 minutes from 7 until 2 then was awake for an hour. I managed to get her back to sleep in her cot from 3 until 5 then she came in with us. DH ended up getting up with her at 6. She's full of beans this morning too, I swear she's like the Energizer Bunny. At the moment, I'd be glad if she'd just go back to 5 or 6 hour stretches

Ceebee74 · 11/06/2009 09:12

Morning

Autumn how is J this morning? Any better? Hope the docs can give you some reassurance

sparks the gym eh?? Did you enjoy it? As you probably know I LOVE the gym - get yourself to an aerobics class, you will love it!!

Fudge whereabouts is Legoland? I always thought it was down south somewhere???

Daisy I haemorraghe (sp?) money at an alarming rate all the time (usually into the coffers of Next, Dorothy Perkins and Mothercare ) and really need to control it for these last few months of mat leave. It is really hard though when you are used to being reasonably comfortable. Although I have worked out that the boys nursery fees are going to be over £700 a month when I do go back to work - they are actually going to cost more than the mortgage fgs!!!

Glad Sam isn't the only baby not sitting up Mentioned it to the HV yesterday and she said not to be worried but it seems as all the other babies are doing it - must remember Pinky's saying that it is 'a stage, not an age'

tegan · 11/06/2009 09:41

Hi all, sorry i haven't been around things are a little mad here.

O too had a terrible nigh and this morning has a bad cough so off to the gp in a while.

O isn't sitting on his own yet either but has really found his voice even though it is mainly dad dad dad all day long.

Yorky · 11/06/2009 09:48

Hello everyone, hi sparkle, don't worry about keeping coming back - I just disappeared completely for ages

Wow to crawling Phee [scared face] I count myself very lucky that DD seems to doing as her brother did and sitting really sturdily fairly young but shows no interest in moving - the only time I saw him roll over was when I lay him on a big cushion and he rolled downhill!

Hope the dr can help with the cough Autumn, I think its what I like least as DS tends to wake himself when he's coughing although it doesn't seem to bother him during the day, and when it drags on I feel guilty about being more tired than sympathetic - so frustrating when you don't seem to be able to do anything too

How is your eye feeling this morning coolkat?

Yesterday evening was mixed, DH was working late as he had taken the morning off the take DS to tumbletots while I took DD to an under 1s group. I had a really hard time with DS messing around and not eating his tea, then we went for a walk in the puddles (anyone else get thunder yesterday afternoon?) and he was SO good, pushing his buggy and running and walking along the yellow lines on the road, and if a car came and I told him ot get on the grass and stand still he did - such a change from half an hour earlier I could have cried

sparkletoes · 11/06/2009 09:52

Hi Phee glad I am not the only one!! Sympathy to u last night sounded hard work...

haey Ceebs haha I am also a regular spender at Next but my other weakness is Amazon, I signed up to Amazon Prime so get free next day delivery...

Also Ds1 did not sit up steadily til 7-8 months.

sparkletoes · 11/06/2009 09:59

x posted with you Yorky waves! Glad u had a good time with DS in the end, funny what keeps them happy isn't it my Ds1 also LOVES puddles!!

LackaDAISYcal · 11/06/2009 10:19

Phee and sparkletoes, I was in the same position re lack of sleep a few weeks ago and he has changed to a slightly better regime over the last couple of weeks, so hang in there; it may just gradually get better. I never in my wildest imagination thought five hours sleep would mean that I feel like a new woman, lol

ceebee, you've hit the nail on the head there; I think because we have always been fairly comfortable, it's difficult to get out of that groove of buying things just because you see it and like it. I'm having to make a conscious effort to ask myself "Do I really need it?" I wanted a new pair of toe post sandals, but actually there is nothing wrong with the ones I have, other than they are last years and a wee bit scruffy. And I have three or four other pairs of sandals that are perfectly serviceable as well, if not what I actually want. Same with the kids; they have soooooo many clothes but I keep buying little t-shirts and stuff....all it does is add to the laundry mountain.

And, on a more pragmatic/esoteric level, it will teach the kids about having to wait for things they want (as I had to do as a child) and that not being excessive will hopefully help us to our bit to save the planet!

Now.....if I could just cut our weekly food shopping bill in half I'd be more than happy. I was thinking of saving all receipts for a week just to see how bad we are and then using that as a basis to whittle it down to the bare minimum.

LackaDAISYcal · 11/06/2009 10:22

I'm liking "it's a stage, not an age" I'll try and remember that.

Yorky, glad DS played the game when you were out with him.....walking along busy roads with DD makes me soooo anxious as she doesn't like to hold hands at all and is getting wise to the fact that the wrist strap means I'm in control and has learnt to wriggle out of it.

Might have to have one last indulgence and get one of the Little Life rucsacs.

Ceebee74 · 11/06/2009 10:33

I cannot walk along roads with DS1 and push the pushchair too - far too risky and DS1 would be likely to bolt at any moment! Means we can only go out for walks if DH is around aswell and DS1 has to be pushed to nursery in his pushchair to be safe How I would love a child that trotted along nicely beside me!! Yorky well done to your DS for doing just that. I think DS1 is wise to the danger of cars now and is unlikely to bolt onto the road but still...not a chance I want to take with him.

Daisy that is it exactly - I am having to go from 'ooh I like these' to 'do I actually need them'. I am the same with the boys clothes - DS1 has so many t-shirts, it is untrue because I always seem to pick one up from supermarkets etc and he only wears the same 3 over and over again Plus I have to bear in mind that I will need an entire new size 12/14 wardrobe when I go back to work so that is not going to be cheap considering I need at least 2 suits!!

Sparks I don't know if you are the same but I find it so hard not to compare my 2 boys. Funnily enough, DS1 didn't sit up steadily until he was about 8 months - but he was crawling, albeit commando crawling, at 30 weeks (so the same age as Sam is now) so never actually got to practice sitting down as he was always on the move. Whereas Sam has only ever rolled over twice and still spends most of his time lolling on his back so as far away from crawling as you can get I think

Oblomov · 11/06/2009 10:56

Morning.
AL, hope J is better.
How's that eye, Coolkat ?
Feeling glum. Ds1(5.5) his behaviour is attrocious. Has been for months. Nothing works- NOTHING. Smacked, shouted. Not shouting. Praising good, ignoring bad. Pasta jar. Star chart. Spending time with him, playing. Affirmation and praise. Explaining. Not explaining and just doing/ignoring. Taking away the things he loves. I've tried everything. and nothing works. He said " you can't make me, because I don't want to ".
Stubborn. I am so very very tired. TIRED of this. Dh is too. All his friends at school are the same, but in different ways. So I know its not just him. But I just can't bear it anymore.
God, i am so in love with ds2, because he is so sweet and I don't have any of this nonsense with him !!! Remind me why we do this parenting thing

Oblomov · 11/06/2009 11:09

Hv and GP says I am doing fine, not to worry. School says he is a 'pleasure'. Naughty step and counting to 3 don't work. Nothing bothers him.
Promise of Indiana Jones lego, which he DESPERATLY wants. Explained one in for good day, one out for bad behaviour. Then told him bad, he says "oh well, I don't care if I don't get it". Like nothing matters to him. He is obviously were savvy as to what pushes our buttons. I really don't know what to do.

Oblomov · 11/06/2009 11:25

Sorry about that. Please ignore last 2 posts. Have started a thread in behaviour.

sparkletoes · 11/06/2009 11:57

Had to post in hurry earlier, taken Ds2 for his jags (late I know, don't ask!)...

Anyway I forgot to say before ceebs that the gym i joined is the new local council one and it doesn't do any classes unfortunately I would have liked that tho...

Ds2 has slept for 20 mins since 5;15am this am... So in answer to your other question yes I cannot help comparing them! (Ds1 would sleep upside down, hanging out of a window with a train going past!! (Obv I NEVER did that - before you all call social services!) But u get what I mean, totally different however, in Tinytoes defence, Ds1 had complete peace to sleep in and got used to going for large undisturbed snoozes.. perhaps that has more to do with it?!!

Lacks I have a littlelife rucksack and wouldn't be able to go for walks with the 2 boys without it. Ds1 did protest at first about the 'reign' part and wanted to hold it etc.. But I am twice as stubborn as he is and just said ok, if you don't let me hold it we go home. It worked but only because of his age I am sure. I have absolutely no clue what you do when they get older therefore cannot suggest anything to Obs. Just hope someone else has a solution for you, that must be a difficult situ.

Rosa · 11/06/2009 13:06

Minirosa will sit if I put her up and half wedge her she has had a few head butting sessions and yesterday she rolled over in her cot and slept tummy down !!
As for Crawling ...nooooo please not ready for that.
Obs saw you other thread - sounds a night mare and I don't know what to suggest although your gp / HV say you are doing fine have you tried to take it a step further ???
Coocat how is the eye today ?
I went out last night - on a work dinner and got back at midnight - mr woke 3 times between that and midnight - I am NOt amused ! so I must go and have a mini kip whilst I can .....

Ceebee74 · 11/06/2009 13:12

Obs have seen your other thread and it seems like it may be his age - no advice but fingers crossed you find something that works soon

Rosa · 11/06/2009 13:14

Pinky wanted to say with the sling thing that I was told that my baby bjorn is so 'out' and I should get a sling - I don't think I can justify one after buying the bee - and bag . PLus I am fine with the carrier esp for travelling . Sorry did not want to offend - plus I am one for standing up for what is best for you and your children - everybody is different ! DD1 was bf when she could walk until she got a cold and was holding boob in her teeth whilst breathing between mouthfuls! So we drew the line there and then. Sorry Hope that clarifies !

LackaDAISYcal · 11/06/2009 14:03

lol at hamster

Obs, no real advice for you...you know I have my own issues with DS1...but just wanted to give you a big, old empathetic squeeze.

PinkyMinxy · 11/06/2009 14:11

Hey Rosa no offence taken lovey! I don'tthink the baby bjorn is no good in terms of fashion, it's just that they are not very comfy to wear, for you or the baby. The main deal is to get something that supports all the way to the backs of the child's knees, so they should be in a sort of froggy leg position. I hate the term 'babywearing' because it implies some kind of fashion accessory thing, where I see it as a practical thing. For a toddler it's much easier to put a sling in your bag than drag say a maclaren about, when you may not need it at all.

oBs hugs lovely. challenging behaviour it's a tricky one. I've worked with a lot of children with very challenging behaviour (ie not just normal, like your DS), but when it comes to your own children, detaching from it is very hard.

will catch up better later
love to allx

ps have ordered red polka and sky blue ittis [bluush],[spendthrift emoticon]

ChocOrange05 · 11/06/2009 16:39

Ha ha - I got the e-mail about the new print Itti's today. I'm glad to see someone had no self control Pinky . I have resisted so far but perhaps M will need some bigger ones soon.

ellielou02 · 11/06/2009 19:01

I ordered pretty in pink and the tiger print I too have no self control.
