myjob that is sooooo lovely, bless him

RachieW · 22/06/2009 12:05

CSWS no open fires this summer I hope! Sadly we don't even have a real fire, the previous owners have blocked up the chimney so we have a pretend one..for the moment. It's the marble hearth I'm worried about. Maybe I could get rubber corner bits instead, where did you get them?

MM- It sounds as if M and J are doing the same kind of movements, his is very like swimming too! I think restrictive safety zones will have to be the way forward here too as I can't have my eyes on J all day. We've got wooden floor everywhere downstairs apart from the living room so I think I'll have to prepare myself for some bumps and bruises. Or maybe get one of those wierd rugby hats they had on The Apprentice

Myjob- Your ds sounds sooo sweet. What a lovely thing to say. I really hope N gets better soon and those teeth make an appearance.

J is in his element as I've just brought him a remote control from the pound shop. Am fed up of the screams when he tries to get ours. He has been playing with it for at least an hour. Makes me wonder why I spend so much on all those expensive baby toys, a remote, a mobile, an envelope and a plastic plate is really all he wants

CantSleepWontSleep · 22/06/2009 12:22

these ones are very funky rachie.

But lots to choose from.

jenwa · 22/06/2009 12:40

myjob how sweet of DS to say that, poor N with the teeth though, its not nice.

P is wriggling but not crawling, has mastered the art of lunging backwards but only does it as trying to go forward! She can turn herself round in a circle on the floor which looks quite hard!

rachie yes cheap toys are sooo much better. Also I dont feel so bad when its time to clear them out too

Just tackling lunch at the mo. Really getting bored of making stuff now! I have a headache so thats not helping! Too much paperwork to do later (child benefit forms...blugh) and shopping to do too but so skint at the mo what with trying to sort ourselves out after DH was not in work so now having to pay back into the overdraft

CantSleepWontSleep · 22/06/2009 12:40

We have the prince lionheart cushiony ones.
(this subject is so interesting that I thought I'd do 3 posts on it )

Hi all,

Rachie, well done on the moving!

Poppy is also moving but not crawling, altho DH and PIL's thought she had crawled yesterday, she was kind of on all fours then she moved a bit, but it wasn't really a crawl. She is spending a bit more time on all 4's now tho, she keeps coming off her knees so she's kind of doing a plank too! Not sure how that's gonna work with forward movement but any pilates teacher would be jealous!

I was inspired by all you BLW's (Not that I'm calling myself a BLWer, I know you have to walk round a tree three times backwards before you can do that ) and I gave Poppy some cucumber slices (with the skin cut off) and some tomatoes cut up (de-skinned and removed seeds) with some cottage cheese on her highchair tray and she seemed to have an allergic reaction! She's had tomatoes (cooked) before and I can't see it being cottage cheese...? Her neck went bright red with little white spots. Her tongue wasn't swollen or anything so I didn't do anything.

I left Poppy in a creche for the first time today [nervous breakdown emoticon] She was only in the next room at the childrens centre tho!! I'm doing a digital photography 4 week course there. She barely noticed me when I popped back after a minute, then she started crying halfway thro and I heard her thro the wall and went in and fed her to sleep. I think if she hadn't been tired she would've been fine. (She had me up between 2.30 and 4.30 in the night) We'll see next week.

There was something else but I can't remember.

I'm on my own today till 9pm as DH gone into college for the final show (graphic design) so I'm "flying solo" tonight. I've done the bath alone before so I've no worries. My only problem is DH washed the highchair cover last night and straps (surface clean only, found it soaking in the sink ) and it's not dry yet so I've only got the Ikea highchair which I can't leave her in cos she gets her leg out and looks like she's about to dive across the room headfirst. I may have to relocate teatime to the breakfast bar...

Knees continue to be fine, oh to get back to that Davina postnatal DVD!!!!

Honeymoonmummy · 22/06/2009 16:27

Wow, that was a Jenwa post!

RachieW · 22/06/2009 16:27

Thanks CSWS I'll show dh tonight as he isn't that keen on a fire guard in terms of it being big and taking over our small room...not in terms of it stopping ds bashing his head.

Ds is asleep and I really should do some tidying. We have our NCT ante-natal group coming for a BBQ a week on saturday and dh has already done a list of things that "we" need to do before, like clean the oven....yawn. He is so annoying sometimes. Very house proud but can't do things like sort his post, put his washing away if I leave it out in hope, put a wash on, throw old newspapers away. You know normal stuff to keep us from living in a tip. But oh no the oven must be clean in case someone from the NCT group looks at it and sees a little grease Oh well might show willing by doing a small job...

HMM- Well done for being brave and leaving Poppy- I've only left J with family and that's hard enough sometimes. Sometimes I willingly run out the door (mean mummy). The photography course sounds great and hopefully it will give you the chance to be you for a while and not P's mum. I think this is why I'm happy to leave J sometimes, iyswim

I'm sure I've read that raw tomato can give an allergic reaction. I don't have evidence to back this up but will look now. I haven't given J any for this reason but he has had cooked in pasta bake etc. I'm off to check....

RachieW · 22/06/2009 16:35

No I can't find anything about babies tomatoes and allergic reactions. Wonderful I'm now making up facts...what a fab teacher I am

Honeymoonmummy · 22/06/2009 17:00

Rachie you're a brilliant teacher How bizarre! Thanks!

RachieW · 22/06/2009 18:38

Thanks HMM- I don't know why I googled instead of searching MN!

Evening all. Another flying visit as I've got a ton of things to get on with.

Heather - Really sorry to hear about your Grandad.

MM - So about the awful news from the hospital. I'm not sure if I've missed it, as I've just skim read, but have you been able to talk to anyone about allowing M to stay with you?

Great news that you're feeling better HMM. I was really nervous when I left S in the creche for the first time. It definitely gets easier.

DS was very grumpy today after brilliant weekend. I think it might be his teeth. He has started waving though, sometimes with two hands, sometimes with one. And he's discovered his willy.

Marthasmama · 22/06/2009 21:01

Aubergenie - Hurrah for S finding his willy! Now the fun will begin, (for him that is). I have been trying to get hold of someone at PALS but again nothing this morning. I am busy tomorrow as it is DS's sports day and we need shopping but will send them an e-mail. I have been thinking about it and to be honest, I don't know if I would be able to look after her even if she did stay with me. I'm going to be drugged up to my eyeballs and when she cries on the night I am not going to be able to get her. I can't expect the nursing staff to look after M as well as me. I think she may have to stay with DH..... Which means I am going to be a dairy cow for the next few weeks!

Honeymoonmummy · 22/06/2009 21:10

I'm sure the nursing staff would cope in the circs MM, they must have had this before and they'd probably love having a baby to fuss over if it's an adult ward. I guess the main thing is disturbing the other patients but if you had your own room.... I couldn't pick up Poppy for the first 36 hours but they kept passing her to me to BF, I know that was the labour room (I stayed in the same room I delivered in for 36 hours) but still....
What are the visiting hours? Could anyone bring M in at least during the day? Maybe your mum?

Honeymoonmummy · 22/06/2009 21:11

Sorry about your grandad Heather

loulou33 · 22/06/2009 21:22

MM - i can't beleive you can't get hold of PALS - that's rubbish. Its really hard to know what will be best for you as if you are laid up you won't be able to pick up M if she is upset in hosp...don't know what to suggest really. it sounds like you need the op soonish so maybe DH will have to get ready to take over for a few days.

HMM - tomato allergy is quite a common one i think. Could be the cucumber though as i know people who are allergic to that - has she has cucmber before?? or the cottage cheese? Oh dear, that's not very helpful is it - sorry...glad you managed to leave P in creche ok.,luckily Joe loves it at nursery and with his dad or i'd never manage at work.

off to bed - work tomorrow again...

RachieW · 22/06/2009 21:34

Well I managed to start cleaning the bedroom, not on the list as of course NCT friends won't be in there but I hate going to bed when it's so messy and would rather clean there than the oven. I've always wanted one of those magazine boudoir bedrooms but would never keep it that way. Anyway then J woke up so cleaning stopped...haha. Dh also got in late and said he isn't doing anything tonight, so much for his "I'll do one job each night" speech I knew it!

Aubergenie- So glad you mentioned S finding his willy, J found his a while ago. MIL did tell me in a whisper on holiday that dh used to be the same as a baby but no other parents I know in RL has mentioned it so I was beginning to wonder if it was genetic Of course I knew he would be obsessed at some point, just not this young!

Pistachio- Think we are going for a fireguard too now as dh and I have spent the last twenty mins discussing every possible horrible accident scenario with the marble hearth. What a happy pair we are! Glad you had a good day yesterday too

CantSleepWontSleep · 22/06/2009 21:42

Dd used to get a rash from tomato, and ds got one the other day from a fresh one too (but was fine the previous time that he had one ). Dd's paed said to give it anyway.
Obv could be the cottage cheese if she does have an issue with dairy though.

Yay for tooth cutting the surface myjob. Still not cut through here, so the night time suffering continues. He did eventually sleep well after I'd gone to bed last night though - phew! Just had nurofen tonight as he woke screaming again.

I don't suppose there's such a thing as a family room is there MM, so that dh could stay as well?

Must start hothousing ds, as he's getting behind with all this waving lark .

Evening all. just taken 10 minutes to load thread so not convinced the computer entirely fixed.
DH safely in Amsterdam already made me cross by ringing from airport sounding tipsy as had flown Business Class. FFS, it's a 1.5 hour flight!
Anyway. Boys pushed their luck a bit as they always do when DH away but finally in bed asleep. Threatening to put one in the shed normally shuts them up . DD very cute, can say "dada" and wave but no teeth and def no crawling yet (thank goodness!)
Hope all well.
