Mine have purple poo all the time, as we (dd esp) eat copious amounts of beetroot.

I or dh can bath both dc by ourselves too. I don't have a problem with dd running around naked afterwards tbh - it dries her off naturally! Or we can leave her in there whilst we get ds ready - we are near enough to hear her and she's very capable of getting herself out if she's had enough.

Ds surviving on barely any sleep atm, and is very unsettled tonight. He's just woken screaming again, despite me giving him nurofen and teething gel at his last wake. Am at a loss what to do this time. Is heartbreaking hearing him like this. Oddly he is fine and happy during the day .

ok have a very personal question. i don't want to start a thread about it.. I'm hoping someone here has experienced similar and can tell me it's ok. When I had sex today I felt pain internally - like where organs are internally (well, more like discomfort... kind of like when you have a bruise and someone pokes at it if that makes sense). It continues to be a bit painful/uncomfortable now. and was throughout the day. Should I get this checked out or is it pretty normal after having a baby?
And... if I should get it checked out, can they do it EXternally? Or by xray or something? STILL have not managed to get a smear test done

Marthasmama · 20/06/2009 20:56

CSWS - Poor ds. It amazes me how they manage to carry on with so little sleep. Lets hope those pesky teeth stop troubling him soon.

Star - Are you periods due? I get very sensitive and feel bruised internally in the couple of days before my period. I have to avoid sex as it is not at all pleasant.

  • Stupid laptop...
CantSleepWontSleep · 20/06/2009 21:01

Having a baby shouldn't make any difference to how sex feels afterwards, so it shouldn't be painful. I would poss be inclined to do nothing if it's a one off, but see the doctor if it happens again next time. They are very unlikely to be able to check it out without an internal exam though. But Q needs you to look after yourself and your health, because he needs his mummy around for a very long time, so please go and get your smear sorted.

Thanks Loulou.

MM, was the curry and chilli hot then or not? I don't know if you're being sarcastic!

What do people do with the blueberries, do you have to peel them??? And what age did you try them from?

I've been giving Poppy broccoli and cauli and carrot pieces yesterday and today, she especially loves broccoli florets

Star, the other thing I could think of is if DH went a bit deeper than usual, , this could cause you to be a bit sore, a friend of mine had pains in her lower tummy once after that happened.

Hope all your DH's have a happy fathers day tomorrow! I decided to get a last-minute other present for DH, I got a print of the latest nice pic of Poppy (the punk one on FB) printed on 20 x 24 canvas - it's ACE. Have just found DH looking at the same photo and he said he thinks she looks like a boy on it now! AAAAARRRRGHHHH!!!

Honeymoonmummy · 20/06/2009 22:00

Oh and has anyone found a low-salt bread?

And is anyone buying all organic for their LO's?

I was going to give Poppy baked beans on jacket potato today (HV mentioned it in weaning talk) with lo salt and sugar beans but even lo salt had loads of salt in so I didn't.

Honeymoonmummy · 20/06/2009 22:00

Dammit, I must think before I post! Meant to say, I'm going to bed now as I'm knackered!

CantSleepWontSleep · 20/06/2009 22:06

Going to look at what pic you're on about in a mo hmm.
Blueberries from 6 months. Whole, as they are.
No to all organic (but some, because that's what we'd buy anyway).
No to low salt bread, but ds doesn't actually eat bread, and nor did dd at this age.
I made my own baked beans with dd, but didn't think they were very nice. For the amount they eat the salt isn't too bad in bought ones. Just try to only give one salty thing in a day.

OP posts:
Marthasmama · 20/06/2009 22:16

Hmm - No, they had no hot spices in them but they did have the flavours. M has had baked beans but like CSWS said, I avoided anything else salty that day. I give M blueberries whole and she shovels them in her mouth!!! If P hasn't got her pincer grasp mastered yet, she might find it very frustrating! M used to chase them round her tray then either sweep them off or mush them with her angry fist! We tend to buy organic for a lot of things anyway...... She doesn't look like a boy in that picture.

CantSleepWontSleep · 20/06/2009 22:24

The pic in her high chair hmm? She doesn't look like a boy. How is the highchair btw?

OP posts:
Honeymoonmummy · 20/06/2009 22:40

I'm back! Decided on a slice of cheesecake instead of bed

I will try blueberries then, altho, as you say, I'm not sure her pincer grip is up to that yet...

CSWS, it's great, it's pretty easy to clean except the straps, which I'm guessing are a bugger on every highchair. It cheers me up every time I see it. I keep meaning to contact the seller to see if they can get me the tomato cover too for a change. The only thing is the space between the back of the seat and the crotch bar, I'm not sure how long the highchair would last if Poppy were chunkier.

Thanks guys, I don't think she looks like a boy either

Evening all. Been at the school fete today which thankfully was a big success and we didn't get rained on

CSWS- Sorry to hear about ds and teething, it's so horrible. It's really interesting that you said he is fine in the day and upset at night. J was like that for two days last week, no more teeth yet though. But he was happy and normal in the day and then wailing with pain at night.

HMM- Do you have a Co-op near you? Their own white bread is the lowest in salt that I've seen so far. I don't worry too much at the moment as J still isn't eating too much. I've seen P's punk pic and think she looks gorgeous and girly

Star- It might well be a one off, sometimes it's a bit uncomfortable for me too and I don't know why but then fine the next. Like CSWS said have a check up if it happens again, and your smear. Had mine recently and it wasn't as bad as it have been pre-ds...which makes me feel quite about my body

Ooh we had a bit of a food breakthrough yesterday- MM after your advice gave J banana for brekkie and he ate at least half. Then a bit of lunch and later tuna, pasta and jelly for tea. Today he has been on bird portions again. One step forward, 2 back and all that.

star6 · 21/06/2009 09:00

P looks very girly in that photo! Cute Thanks for advice, all probably a one off... I'll still wait a while to find out, but try AGAIN for a smear test next week.

Q used to eat loads and now he doesn't eat much at all, except usually once per day. He's eating the tiny annabel karmel pasta shells... expensive but i couldn't find such small pasta in the normal aisle.
I guess as long as he takes a lot of my milk, it's fine...

HMM we buy organic for Q but on ocassion have gotten the regular stuff and he's been fine . We try to buy organic for us anyway when we can.

pistachio we cut blueberries in half, too and Q eats chunks of strawberries and other fruits now. [proud]

jenwa · 21/06/2009 09:52

Hi all
Lots to catch up on!

heather so sorry to hear about your Granfather, what a lot of people there too, he must have been a well liked man [man] Nice you got to see everyone but a shame it was under those circumstances. Sorry to hear about Alex and the weight probs. We had a prob when dd1 was little, she was tall and thin and the HV wanted her weight checked and then said "well she is obviously going to be tall and thin" after worrying me. She was fine and happy and healthy. DD2 was heavy born but now is dropping down too, she will also be tall and thin and at the mo they are losing weight by moving baout alot. I think you know your baby and how well they are. I dont see how you can feed any more even by giving formula, they take what they want and need and you cant force it in to them. DD2 is on formula and if she is not interested she wont take it so please dont give up bf. I am sure HE is doing fine and by being poorly recently made him drop weight but also they do around this time.

I will be going to next sale, normally in July isn't it? I never seem to get a preview on line only raley yet I spend shed loads in there sale and wish I could sit here on my bum and do it Last year I nearly passed out in the shop at 5am with my big pregnant belly and all those people!

myjob glad the HV confirmed what you knew and although no imediate solution you know it will get better ALso you wil be fine with another child I am sure We did it when our friends dds slept here one night, I say 'we' I mean 'I' was fun actaully but also glad when they went, it involved collecting them from school them staying over and taking them to school and playgroup in the morning. All good fun for one night and no more Best thing is to stick them all in the bath together. I sometimes take dd2 out and feed her in bathroom whist DD1 in bath or get them all out and let your DS play whilst you sort the other 2, you will feel fab after you have accomplished it. I often have to do bath and bed alone when DH late, its actaully not to stresful and when you know you have to do it you just get on with it and strangely I seem more organised when I do it alone

MM dd1 was scared of the hoover too, it happened suddenly too!

star Well I take it your DH returned then if you managed to have sex Sorry to ear it was painful and yes agree to getting it checked, was it a one off or has it happened before? cant see it was from child birth unless maybe something like a prolapse? Do you have any discomfort ther normally? Do you manage the toilet ok? If you go for your smear they will see then if anything is unusual and at least it will be a nurse having a look. Please try not to worry though.

Sorry I have to go, DD1 was just annoyed the dog and DD2 is getting bored int he high chair!

Sorry I have missed lots!

loulou33 · 21/06/2009 10:09

Star - i find the AK pasta shapes cheaper than the other baby pasta like Heinz ones...and they are organic too.

Has your GP offered you any meds to help you relax for your smear. I would echo CSWS that you must have one soon...your GP could give you a small dose of valium before your smear test to help you relax, i think. I don't know if it would affect Q (might make him sleepy) but i think this would be outweighed by the importance of getting smear done. i doubt the pain is anything serious but you won't know unless you get it checked. I had similar thing abut 6 months ago and had smear, swabs etc and all was clear - you can sometimes get pain internally as a result of thrush/PID/clamydia so its worth getting checked for any infection as well. It was all fine but reassured me and have not had pain since..

MM - asparagus wee is a bit grim isn't it?? Yummy in risottos and both dcs love it...we're having chilli tomorrow so i expect Joe's nappy will br rank on Tuesday but he's at nursery so that will be nice for them ...my sil used to give her ds lentil curry on Sundays, just before i had him for the day and he would always have realy stinky huge poos - cheers then!!!

Feel a bit pathetic that i can't manage bathtime on my own - might try tonight but i can't feed Joe and look after DS1 as Joe won't eat at the same time - will have to think about it....

Actually, I was assuming that because M loves asparagus that N would do too, seeing as they are so similar. Honest guv, I didn't mistype.

Going to mum's for roast (again, I don't even like roast). I was going to cook DH something from the Leon cook book but didn't have time to shop for ingredients.

RachieW · 21/06/2009 20:12

Did all the Daddys have good days? MM how was the roast and HMM how was the canvas received?

We've been to Leeds Castle today, it was lovely and the tickets last for a year so I can forsee us going lots! There was loads for older kids to do but I think ds just liked being pushed around in the fresh air. He did seem quite fascinated by the peacocks! Dh just said he's had a lovely day, he's now watching Top Gear, the perfect end to his day

Ooh Star thanks for mentioning AK pasta, I've been giving ds penne which he sucks and tries to chew but I guess smaller pasta would be a lot easier for him. Am going to look for some tomorrow.

jenwa · 21/06/2009 20:23

loulou you are not pathetic not managing bath time. If you are used to someone being around it is a great help. Would it help to take joe out and wrap in in towel then get DS1 out and dry him and let him play whilst you feed joe in his own room? Would DS play whilst you did this? Or could you take Joe in to your DS room and put DS1 to bed first then settle Joe after? Sometimes if I know Phoebe has had a later sleep and she wont go down straight away I take her in to DD1s room and read dd1 a story with Phoebe on the bed too although recently P has been going to bed awake and just singing and playing until she goes to sleep anyway so not having to take her into DD1s room as much.

Had a busy day, been to BILs and in laws there, MIL got loads of stuff from car boot again and i felt realy rude turning it away but she got P a cot activity thing recently as I said the winnie the pooh was was not great and I had ebayed it so she got me better one for P and now she has got another winnie the pooh one (newer model of the one we did not like) the thing is, it was kind but I only want on cot toy as we have another play centre under the cot and I dont want her to keep getting lots as no where to keep them. Its like you tell her something you need and she keeps getting the same thing but slighty different sounding ungrateful I know but I have no where to keep stuff. SHe also got DD1 a huge fairy centre thing which was fab but also no space for it and DD1 was promised a fairy this week for good behavior and never got enough rewards on her chart so she could not have one, MIL knew this and knew I took DD in to town to look at fairies too choose for maybe this week but was not actaully allowed any until she proved she could listen to mummy and daddy and then get her treat, anyway, MIL gets the biggiest fairy castle with hanging tinkerbells and extra bits and musical things and I look like the crappiest mummy and then say she cant have it as the fairy was meant to be a treat. MIL seemed a bit miffed but she had looked after dd2 when I took DD1 into town looking for fairies yesterday so did actaully know all this . We did say that we will have it when DD gets her rewards this week (if) but still not sure where it will go!

Quiet here tonight so I thought I would say lots to fill the page

Been to pizza hut for tea..yummy, had a posh pizza too and DD1 had spag bol and DD2 had left over from a jar yesterday and boiled potatoes and other bits and bobs, there is nothing she wont eat, even eats banana now too. Funny today as she had some sweet potato and parnsip mash and I gave her a whole sausage, MILS eyes nearly popoped out and she was looking at me like I had lost my head, I said "she does eat sausage" and mil was shocked and worried she would choke, I had to say that she has been eating finger food not long after weaning her as I wanted to get past the choking thing, I am not sure she was impressed with me, DH still gets scared too like in pizza hut tonight Phoebe was ramming potato in her mouth and DH was trying to stop her put too much in as she had a mouthfull and he was worried about her choking. I feel good though as it does not stress ne as I know how well she eats.

myjon happy 9 months N and how quickly has that gone hope she is feeling ok now, maybe teeth?

Just quickly - OMG!!!! I can't believe who the Stig really is!!

RachieW · 21/06/2009 20:54

MM- Is he really the Stig? I actually quite like Top Gear but get annoyed that I do cos I find Clarkson so aggrivating. I wish he wouldn't win all the races, just watch I bet he wins this one on the steam train now! I used to like the Hamster until he grew his hair. Right must stop talking about Top Gear...

Jenwa- Well done with the castle, you were totally right. I'm always a bit fearful of any conflict with the IL no matter how little. Since ds though I'm stronger, though I have to say we get on well pretty much all the time. Why do they seem to think they know best though? Yesterday dh took J to visit them and apparently MIL had brought a jar of baby pasta bake for his lunch. This is despite the fact she knows his hatred of being spoon fed. Anyway according to dh J refused it. He does eat pasta bake at home but one I've made with proper chunky veg and big pasta...maybe she got confused ... Anyway thank you lovely ds for refusing and showing that Mummy knows best

Myjob- Poor N and her teeth, hopefully they'll be through in the next few days. I'm sure the temp will be due to teething. I know what you mean about stopping at this age. J will be 8 months on the 28th and I was only thinking today how perfect he is and how I don't want him to grow up.
