alittlebitshy · 08/06/2009 10:23

oh wow dizzy!!! yum yum.

now i''m back i've forgotten what i wanted to say.

Glad your meds are kicking in oops.

sorry you're still having crap night miamla, but glad dp chilled about the baby in bed after a year thing.

Miamla · 08/06/2009 10:26

dizz sounds like as good a plan as any so i'll give it a go. i'll let you know how we get on
ooh, those cakes sound lovely. is now a good time to remind you that i'm second in the cake tasting queue?

hi albs, bye albs

alittlebitshy · 08/06/2009 10:34

maimla what is ds's current routine?
give us time of wake up/feeds/meals/naps etc and we'll see if we can suggest tweaks (dizzy's plan is a good one though).

Miamla · 08/06/2009 10:49

oh and i need ideas for DP's birthday. i had some great ideas from you all this time last year so lets see if we can do it again

cyteen · 08/06/2009 10:54

Morning all

poppysocks is it your first day back at work today? Really hope it's going well and your DD2 has decided to enjoy herself at nursery after all...

dizzy as usual you've given me cake envy. I'm back on the wagon though as it's weektime again - my new strategy is to try and be virtuous Monday-Thursday, then enjoy Friday and Saturday. Sunday is negotiable on a week by week basis What's the book under discussion?

Miamla nothing much I can add really (except my support, of course) - you are a wonderful mum raising a very active, spirited, confident little boy. I suspect that he finds the baby stage quite difficult, being so independent and desperate to get out there and explore but being hampered by, well, still being a baby. Think of the outgoing child and adventurous young man he is becoming with each passing rubbish night. You will have so many amazing adventures together.

(Cold comfort I know, but when things are really crap I always try and concentrate on the long view!)

Have msgd you on FB by the way, unrelated to this.

oops glad to hear of an upturn in your health. Make sure you keep on taking care of you though

Expectant that is a gorgeous gown indeed.

We have had the most lovely weekend visiting SIL and family in Cardiff. DS had such a brilliant time playing with his cousins (4.5yo and 16mo) and was a cheeky little angel all weekend, charming all and sundry. Got some lovely pictures of him in the bath with SIL's little girl, having a splashy time It's all quite bittersweet as I am so glad he has this lovely warm family to be part of, but at the same time I can't help thinking of the cousins on my side that he will never have.

He also started clapping on Saturday morning I LOVE HIM SO MUCH

dizzydixies · 08/06/2009 10:57

miamla - I hasten to add that the reason I did it like this was DD1 was because her routine was like this, all times VERY approximate and could be varied accordingly btw

7am - milk feed in bed
8am - solid breakfast feed
NAP (bf if wanted but more for comfort)
12pm - solid lunch
NAP (comfort bf again)
4pm - solid tea
play
bath
dressed for bed
supper - toast/weetabix etc - NOT fruit as it digests too quickly
bed

now all of that can be moved about to suit and I think by this stage she wasn't napping for more than 1.5hrs etc

am no Gina Ford follower/lover but that was the routine that we came up with that worked for us - similar thing with DD2 but she wasn't bf as long and was at nursery by 10months so that had to change

and with Dylan I'm kind of making it up as I go along because the wee soul gets dragged in and out for the school runs etc

Miamla · 08/06/2009 11:04

hmm, maybe this is where the problem lies. he doesn't actually have a routine during the day. things that are the same... wake up between 7 and 7.30, breakfast 9ish (he doesn't seem to eat anything if i try earlier), lunch 1ish, dinner 6ish then bath, story, bed. but actuaaly, he has a bath every other evening because his skin is so dry.
naps are a bit all over the place at the moment. some days he'll go all morning without one, sleep for half hour after lunch and then nothing again all afternoon. other days he'll have a nap at 9ish, 1ish,4ish (although i try and discourage this late one. on the day he slept from 5-5.30 was the night he did a 6hr stint though)

the bit that is working is between 6 and 7. he usually goes to bed really well now with no bf

right, i'm going to try and keep a rough timetable, we're obviously all over the place at the moment

alittlebitshy · 08/06/2009 11:16

i'm impressed with the bed with no bf
if i tried that one my ds would crumple and sob i think, bless him. Does the fact he doesn't need a bf mean that dp can put him down (i know you said he screams for dp but wasn't sure if that was bedtime as well as when he wakes in the evening?)?

dizzydixies · 08/06/2009 12:13

oh shit sorry, she' gets a feed at bed time - DD1 was on the bottle by that point sorry!!!!!!!

ALBS always me does the put down and Dylan is my FIRST to go down awake - I always fed the other two to sleep for ease - I know you're not meant to but bloody hell its not easy is it

Dylan has always gone down awake as she's no choice the wee soul - she finds he thumb and normally goes over bless her

miamla where does he sleep best? could you take some time to get him into a routing sleeping in his cot in the house or pram at a regular time? I find that now Dylan knows when she's meant to sleep it deosn't really matter where it happens iyswim? she sleeps best in her cot but sometimes thats just not possible so will nap in her pram/the car etc

it shouldn't take too long to crack it and if it makes you life better then it will be worth it

try writing down the days events to see if he has a 'natural' routine and see what we can work out from that

Miamla · 08/06/2009 13:02

yeah, dp did it yesterday. small steps and all that Although he was awake 30mins later

right, lets take this current nap as an example. he was after milk so i gave him a bf, he fell asleep so i put him in cot and i went to bed. 20mins later he's awake, screaming so i go in, think right, i'm knackered so into bed with me he comes. i bf him lying down, he falls asleep again, i don't so i get up and put him in his cot. he's still asleep now (after a total of an hour). Should i be keeping him up if he wakes from a nap? but if did that he'd only get 10mins a day sometimes. sorry, i said earlier i was going to stop going on about sleep

thanks girls, i really appreciate you trying to help

he's awake and screaming again....

cyteen · 08/06/2009 13:48
alittlebitshy · 08/06/2009 14:23

don't stop going on about sleep. We can try and help.

dizzY my dd went down awake from really early on. Like she slept from early on too. (retrospective [envy at self]).Ds started going down awake from about 7 months i reckon.

I think I'm coming to the end of my 2 good breaks a day though as he's not going down as readily for naps (both times today i'v had to go in an give him a cuddle and lie him down again). I remembder dd dropped her morning nap att 11 months so who knows what lies ahead....

alittlebitshy · 08/06/2009 14:27

just had a call from school - dd being sick, poor baby dh just gone to collect her.

alittlebitshy · 08/06/2009 14:29

cyteen hellllllooooooooo.

dizzydixies · 08/06/2009 15:53

cyteen hello am sorry about earlier have been nipping in and out inbetween phone calls/emails/printing leaflets and obsession over planning application - huge apologies well done on the self control, mine starts on Thurs as am going out for lunch on Wed, then again am meeting Poppy and the Popettes on Fri so and as for the book under discussion, eerrmmmmmmmm, this is our first meeting and eh, we'll take it from there after a few cheeky vinos and some cake I'm sure we'll manage to pick a monthlysubscriptiontoOKmagazine high brow publication to knock all your socks off

loving the doggy lullaby - not sure our hollie dog will go for that but shall certainly show her the video to put her to shame - all she does is fecks off and hides under the bed

DH has taken DD2 to the park as when I went to collect DD1 from school her friend's mum asked her to come back and play at theirs, all lovely but I wish she'd ask me first before DD1 as DD2 was desperate to see her for a very grown up no pull up pants trip to the park SO was torn between which DD to let down on a more selfish note it would have saved me a school run too

albs we didn't know we were born with the our 1st DCs did we?!? I too remember one of the naps being dropped just before the first birthday I need that time [meep] but then again if Dylan continues to rise at sodding 5 or 6am she's keep going with the naps I imagine

been VERY busy today with cafe stuff which will hopefully pay off - DD1's teacher is an absolute star and asked the school if I can put a flyer in all the school bags for all the parents to see

dizzydixies · 08/06/2009 15:59

oh no ALBS, just saw your message re DD1 - hope she is ok

dizzydixies · 08/06/2009 16:00

I think I'm going to have to go cold turkey on the smilies - am using them too often

dizzydixies · 08/06/2009 16:00

see what I mean

dizzydixies · 08/06/2009 16:02

very quiet on here today

helloooooooooooooooooooooooooo

where is everybody?!?

if this is what happens when you all go back to work then I'm not doing it!!!

wonder what Sazz and TS are up to - not that I'm implying thats why its quiet

dizzydixies · 08/06/2009 16:08

I suppose I could be doing something more useful than mucking about on here whilst my printing is going

let me see

ironing? - too hot
hoovering? - Dylan asleep
tidying? - wouldn't know where to start
eating? - just had lunch
drinking? - bit too early even for me
balancing the chequebook? - NEVER going to happen lol
obsessing over cafe application - check

dizzydixies · 08/06/2009 16:13

well you lot are NO chat at all today [harumph]

are you all out having a life??!?

[wails][moans][sobs][meep]

you'll all miss my inane patter when I'm a cafe mogul run off my feet

hotterpotter · 08/06/2009 16:34

Sorry Dizzy been round to my friend's house this afternoon for chit chat while our four children ran riot

Time to go and get dinner ready too now, but you have really made me laugh . Don't give up the smileys, I overuse them too and need a co-offender

TwilightSurfer · 08/06/2009 17:27

dizzy i'm keeping a low profile as i'm hoping this day will go away. started it off with reese choking on something, cue panic, had emergency services on the phone by the time whatever it was disappeared, cancelled paramedics...been on paranoid watch ever since. after much rehashing the unknown might have been a piece of tape or straw wrapper. not sure but she appears to be good.

will properly read thread when all my red flashing lights decide to turn off and relax.
