no! what a joke...but the greenhouse is burgeoning with tiny green leaves as all energy has been expended at the bottom of the garden. dp starts work next week on my brother's recently purchased slightly dilapidated farmhouse doing 3 days a week on a multitude of renovations.

nite sazzles off to bed too, the Euro elections are not really worth staying up for are they?

Miamla · 07/06/2009 23:15

TS 5????? THAT i didn't want to hear!!!!!

thanks all for your kind words. i accidentally woke him up when i went up for a wee. DP mentioned that perhaps it would be a good idea for us to stop using our downstairs loo as a storage cupboard which would mean we could actually use it for its designated purpose. another job to do this week

sambo yes, sorry, got your email. you've set me quite a challenge but i'll reply in more detail tomorrow via email

re baby signing.. DS does the milk one but he does it at anything and everyone so i don't think he's quite caught on yet!

re back of necks...hmm love it!

how many naps are your LOs having? DS only had one today at lunchtime! and since 7pm i've only had to go up twice so far and one of those was my fault. hmm, perhaps i do need to restrict his naps even more than i have been
talking of sewing...steaky are you still in UK?

hi vg, thank you too. i think you've got a really good point there re sleep for me and not cracking the patterns now but, trouble is if we do that there's never going to be a good time to crack the pattern. DP is adamant that DS won't be in bed with us after he's a year old so that's 8 weeks and counting. You made me smile with the "every cupcake in the Hummingbird Cafe" comment, such a shame that the cafe can't be called that

Miamla · 07/06/2009 23:25

i beg to differ! quite an amusing x post there!

Miamla · 07/06/2009 23:28

oh and i'd love it to be a transitory thing but he's been an awful sleeper since he was 0 days! i think the sooner i accept that this is how its going to be, the better! He's making it more likely that he's going to be an only child though!

you're right about the deadline. i've got visions of me camping out on DS's bedroom floor

well off to bed for you then my lovely Irish friend, sweet dreams

Expectant · 08/06/2009 05:51

Hi All trying not very well to catch up. Seems like lots of LOs in pain from teething or general bugs. Singapore seems perfect breeding ground for bugs as no sooner had DS got better from his throat infection he now has another cold. Cue more days of not eating well & sleeping badly. I also got the throat infection and had to go to the docs myself with a temperature of 39.5 (don't remember the last time I had a temperature). Hoping little man didn't feel nearly as bad as I did otherwise must have been horrible - the doctor did try to reassure me by telling me that it was generally much worse for adults.

Oh my SIL-to-be has chosen the bridesmaids dresses - thought you might like to take a look here www.alfredangelounitedkingdom.com/Collections/ProductDisplay.aspx?productID=8c6fc959-d9de-4606-8700- ab7f66854563&categoryID=3802fa9c-39d0-4b7f-b1c6-9bd0411741f2&pg=1 will be in celadon colour (spring wedding next year). I will be hopping over to Hotmamas if it is still going as other bridesmaid is perfect size 8/10 and 5ft10 - me a bit of a chubby 5'7'' at the moment! (bride is over 6ft)!

Any suggestions for first birthday pressies - we have a few coming up first is this weekend for a little girl don't want to spend too much as will be bankrupt by the time September finishes otherwise but would still like to get something nice.

dizzydixies · 08/06/2009 07:06

cereal for brekkie, we've got cheerios, crunchy nut, special K red berries, weetabix or crispies - help yourselves

I'm the only one up so its given me a moment to catch up on here in peace when I SHOULD be showering, making packed lunch and printing letters to be delivered this morning

poppysocks will be thinking of you on your first day back today - hope the sun is shining with you too

expectant poor you and poor miniexpectant - have you considered taking echinecea to give your immune systems a bit of a helping hand? As for first birthdays I tend to think something personalised/keepsake much nicer than fluffy teddy/clothes etc - doesn't need to be expensive but can by original and worth keeping - ebay always a good place to start or I spendfartoomuchmoney like this site for ideas/gifts. Both my older girls have large wooden letters of their initials - just the initial but I like them and they look good sitting up on their shelves - must look for one for Dylan

miamla fingers crossed that you had a better night

TS party sounded fab - and the solo shopping trip

LWFH Great to hear from you, hope you're keeping well, let me know when you start thinking names, am still obsessed and have even named nothappeningifDHhashisway DD4

morning all else!

dizzydixies · 08/06/2009 07:19

expectant that dress is just lovely thank goodness for a bride with taste! It would, however, fill me with utter dread seeing as I have a bosom that can knock down buildings if I turn too quickly and strapless dresses have never been my friend

right thats fairyelephant DD2 up so my quiet time has gone

enjoy you day ladies

oopsacoconut · 08/06/2009 08:31

Morning Dizzy, thanks for brekkie.

DD slept last night from 7.30 to 4.30 them fed and slept until I woke her at 7.15 (I went in to check she was still breathing as I did at 3am as well)

I think the vomiting is part of a bug as she has has terrible nappies too and even poo'd in the night which is unheard of.

We have a nothing day on here today only need to get the stair gates I was going to get yesterday but went for coffee instead.

Will catch up in a bit more smelliness here.

Miamla · 08/06/2009 09:04

i agree, that dress is gorgeous. Strapless dresses have never been my friend either because before bf, i never had enough boob to hold them up
dizz i have a wonderful image in my head of your norks knocking down a building! you were successful but it was a very small building made from these

expectant there was a thread on here last night with some great ideas for 1st birthdays... i'll have a go at linking for you

as for last night, not sure you really want to know but let's just say that DS surpassed himself with half hourly wakeups (ie half an hour after I put him down). I'm to admit that I got really cross with him at one point. DP got up at another point, told me to bring him into bed. I said I couldn't give in because of him saying about the 'not in our bed after 1yr old'. He told me to forget that and that DS could. DP and I obviously need to have a proper chat about what our plan is. Anyhow, good news from last night is that i persevered and DS came into our bed at 6.30. And actually, the last stint he did was 3.30 til 6.30 so i had 3 hours in one go.

DP just sent me a text saying how tired he is

Miamla · 08/06/2009 09:07

blimey, did it really take me half an hour to write that! sorry oops, not ignoring you! you weren't there when i started writing! That's great news about DD last night! well done miniOops

hotterpotter · 08/06/2009 09:10

Back to normal for us too last night, up at 4 and 5.30, oh well he is in a lovely chatty mood this morning

Miamla I don't know how you function, and I'm afraid I don't have any wise words for you but here are my matchsticks, I think you need them more than me . Sorry to hear your DP not being too supportive, any chance he'll be the one getting up constantly once the deadline is past? I have heard that CC does have good results pretty quickly, but you need to have strong nerves to get through the first night. Not good if you haven't slept for a year . Yo know we'll support you as best we can, no matter what you decide to do

Oops that's a week gone already Are the tablets kicking in? Do you feel a bit better yet?

Flip that's taken ages to type, meanwhile DS has eaten one slice of jammy toast, one banana, one satsuma and a fromage frais no wonder he's such a fatty He's screaming and trying to do the red indian (sorry un-pc) thing where you waft your hand over your mouth while going aaaaaahhhh. better get him out of the chair, back soon I hope

oopsacoconut · 08/06/2009 09:15

HP - ooh someone asked yesterday too how my meds were going - brain has gone blank as to who. I think they are starting to work in that I am now sleeping better and not always hot but my heart is still doing the Tango which can be disconcerting at times but with some things starting to ease it gives me hope that soon I will be off the sofa and at the gym again!

Miamla · 08/06/2009 09:27

sorry for not asking about meds oops. i'm so pleased to hear things slightly improved for you already

hotpot thank you, i know you will. DP is supportive but the only way he knows that will work (ie having chatted to his male colleagues at work) is the CC thing. I've asked him to do some reading on it. He is being supportive, its his inconsistency that isn't helping. During the day, he says we should try harder to get DS to sleep in cot, that he's getting too used to sleeping in our bed (and because of that he's happier sleeping next to me) etc. But during the night when he just wants to sleep, he suggests bringing him into bed

right, i'm going to stop whinging now

Miamla · 08/06/2009 09:28

expectant this is the thread i was talking about

dizzydixies · 08/06/2009 09:58

miamla - how about you try this, forgive me if you're doing similar already

brekkie at 8am
lunch at 12pm
dinner at 4pm
supper - preferably something like weetabix just prior to bed

fitting in short naps/milk feeds where appropriate

worked a dream for DD1

alittlebitshy · 08/06/2009 10:00

dizzydixies · 08/06/2009 10:02
