I thought I'd use this title as not all of our delicious babies are on the move yet, including mine

DebiTheScot · 18/06/2009 15:37

sounds fairly positive starlight, was your husband there too or do you have to try and remember everything yourself?

carriebo hope ds is better soon, it is horrid when they're ill. Fingers crossed you don't all get whatever it is.

What temp is 300F in C? I didn't think ovens really existed that were in F! Those biscuits sound nice and easy.

meglet and lollyheart I'm fine for 10am at JJs on Monday. Got the messages you both sent through my email but can't get on facebook at work so can't reply and I'm trying to not switch the comp on at home on days I work as I waste too much time on it if I do!

DebiTheScot · 18/06/2009 15:39

Oh and very of those of you with babies who'll sit still to watch telly! Mine wont at all. He snorts at Peppa Pig and turns to watch when Thomas tune comes on but won't sit and watch. Mind you I havent tried the ITNG drug as I refuse to let him get into it as it drives me crazy!

Sunshinemummy · 18/06/2009 15:45

Debi I put DD in her bouncy chair, otherwise she comes to find me.

CarrieBo · 18/06/2009 15:56

debi its 150 degrees C or gas mark 2 according to my fridge magnet from Lakeland!! I had to put them back in for another 10mins though, but I suspect that's due to crapness of oven!

starlight it sounds like your HV for SN is working in a key worker role or Lead Professional role (there's a slight difference in terms of whether they're there as advocates for the family, or as the professional who's just co-ordinating the others) but either way its great to have someone providing some continuity and co-ordination. You're doing great! I know some parents of SN end up being key workers for other families as they've been through the system before!

DebiTheScot · 18/06/2009 16:12

I didn't think you were allowed to use bouncy chair once baby could sit up? In case they tip themselves out of it. We don't have anything to sit ds2 in except bumbo and highchair but I wouldn't dare put him in them unless he was eating as he'd freak out if no food appeared!

becaroo · 18/06/2009 17:38

You think you are a bad parent carrie? Hah!! Caught Toby this morning just as he was trying to get into the tumble dryer in the utility room BAD mummy! I was trying to put ds1's creams and lotions on before school at the time and he scooted off really quickly and he is so strong! He can pull over his toy bins with ease (and they are chock full of toys which then land on his head)

Sorry to hear your little one is ill - a paed told me that cold liquids stay down better (?) If the baby is vomiting and has diahorrea (SP?) give clear liquid only i.e. water with rehydration powder or lemonade. You can still give bm but dont give ff or cows milk if he is still being sick and having diahorrea - the voice of experience here!!!!!

Hope everyone else is well xx

Debs75 · 18/06/2009 20:02

Starlight a key worker is brilliant as they are so used to dealing with all these professionals it makes your life easier. You moan to them and tell them who you need to talk to and they do all the annoying phoning around (I hate phoning people) and they make sure you get minutes from meetings and stuff like that.

Robyn is 9 months tomorrow and she has finally doubled her birthweight and grown about 10 cm's ^^

starlight indeed MIL is very strange. She adores C so much that to her 'cooking lunch' is time that could be spent gazing at C adoringly.
We've offered to cover costs but she is adamant that it's not that - it's the time factor (and I've explained purees not needed). Sigh.

Gonna use suggestions here plus give her the raw ingredients to make lunch eg bread & chunk of cheese for cheese on toast and hope she gets the message that we can't make up full packed lunches every time.

Sunshinemummy · 19/06/2009 09:12

Oooh Debi I didn't know that. She still goes in it fairly regularly.

notcitrus · 19/06/2009 11:13

Never heard that about bouncy chairs - just as well as A goes in his still every time I have a shower! He leans way forward and to the side and it just bounces lots, so I think it's OK. I've been given an enormous rocking one for when he does get too big for it, but I think it's too big for the bathroom!

imoscarsmum is MIL claiming she doesn't eat herself all day? Assuming she does indeed eat, could you suggest she do one spoonful for MIL, one spoonful for C... ?

My mother has been bonkers for years, yet acquiring a grandchild seems to have projected her into sanity. It's very wierd!

imoscarsmum · 19/06/2009 12:05

I've not put C in her bouncer for ages cos she tries to tip herself out of it since she could sit up. She sits on the floor now surrounded by v shaped pillow but that's cos there's no danger of her crawling. We do use bumbo in kitchen due to hard floor though.

C's currently at MILs now, for a morning settling in session. I took down 2 pieces of bread, slices of cheese and a pot of baked beans plus melon & kiwi fruit and told her she had to do cheesy beans on toast. As C eats everything except porridge & yoghurt with her hands, it really is simple. I also stressed that she can have anything MIL has, provided it's home made - I suspect that MIL actually eats crap, lots of shop bought sandwiches etc, hence the reluctance. I also said if she made stews or soups for her tea, if she saves some if it for lunch, that's easy too.

Tried to be really positive. Her face fell a bit as I explained how she'd have to heat the beans up and melt cheese etc. DP and I have decided that some MIL feeding training is required!

This morning I have batch cooked spag bol for freezer and a double lot of goats cheese muffins, yay.

imoscarsmum · 19/06/2009 12:10

I am knackered though as cat brought live vole into house at 4.45am and yowled loudly. Cue me (as DP away) sneaking out of back door at 5am, naked, with vole in hand to release back to wild . Thank god we're not overlooked!

I also had a work phone conversation this morning, for HR to explain why my team wasn't getting a pay rise this year - apparently we're paid too much and are paid above the new salary bands. TBH, I think I am paid well and as long as it's not a cut, I'll survive. My boss is appealing to HR on our behalf bless him. but he then asked me to join a conference call next Tues. I thought ' sod off matey, I'm back to work in a few weeks, I'll deal with it then' and told him I was away.

DebiTheScot · 19/06/2009 13:27

imo can't believe you were outside at 5am naked! It's broad daylight by then!

I survived dh being away all week (he got back late last night) and although I didn't stop running round all week it was ok, not as stressful as I thought it might have been. I somehow managed to get the boys in bed earlier than we do usually so that was good.

imo dh had his boss tell him the other day that hes not going to get a promotion (not to a different job, just up a level) he's applied for as there's no money to give him. But he's not bothered as 7 people in his groupgot made redundant this week so he's just glad to still have a job. Would feel wrong to get a payrise with that going on. It's a tough world out there just now. Glad my job is vry secure.

CarrieBo · 19/06/2009 13:56

imo!

Meglet · 19/06/2009 13:57

bookmarking. have to catch up now....

Meglet · 19/06/2009 15:09

well, I've sort of caught up after a few days away. I have had an organised week so far, successful trip to Ikea with hungover sister, tax credits renewal done (just waiting to hear whether sums are and payments are correct), new washing machine in kitchen, garden strimmed, ds's first parents evening at nursery went well, hair cut and legs waxed .

ponymum glad you and dd are feeling better now. I gave up trying to pee fast and ended up getting a playpen when ds was little. Now I have 2 dc's if i need to pee in peace then ds has cbeebies on and dd goes in her cot (the playpen is currently being used as a room divider so dd doesn't fall out the open patio doors).

starlight glad you have been making some progress this week, fingers crossed they'll get you all the help you need without too much of a battle.

IMO how odd that your MIL is reluctant to do any food for your dd. it's not like she has to do anything fancy is it?!

I need a brief rant for a few seconds now..... ex P is in Benidorm with his childless mates this week so I am very and very . I hope he gets sunstroke, upset tummy and an STD. . He hasn't seen the dc's in a week now after being a stroppy git last time.

better go, i think i have 2 small people waking up from their naps....

Hopefully · 19/06/2009 16:48

I had the most ridiculous time while T was at the childminders today - sliced my finger open while baking, proper blood spurting and everything, then about 10 minutes later, once I'd finally got the bleeding under control and went to hang out the washing, tripped and sliced my toe open on the (very sharp) flint wall outside our back door. Cue more splurting comedy blood. I am bandaged up with toilet roll and parcel tape in the absence of a first aid kit!

digitalgirl · 19/06/2009 19:41

ponymum I confess, I have used the 'other' site for finding local classes and playgroups for DS. Haven't been on the talk boards though so have no idea what they're like.

hopefully I would be feeling very sorry for myself if that was me. Hope your DH has returned from work with a first aid kit, or at least some plasters.

DS's pushchair arrived today!!! Hurrah!!! No more slouching in the old borrowed buggy. It has that new car smell. I'm so looking forward to taking him out tomorrow!

DH is going away on a little business trip on Sunday and not back till Tuesday. I will be on my own with DS for two nights for the first time ever. Bit scary, but quite looking forward to co-sleeping the whole night and not having to get up to feed in another room.

In other exciting news, my Dsis has got through to the Simon Cowell audition on X-factor. Only 60 people get chosen from 15,000. Pretty amazing huh? She goes next Wednesday, everyone cross your fingers!

Meglet · 19/06/2009 20:00

digital hurray for new pushchair and your talented Dsis .

imoscarsmum · 19/06/2009 22:03

I'm a bit mad and never wear anything in bed, hence the naked adventure this am!
We are lucky to only have fields at the back of our house though, no neighbours apart from side and we have tall trees.

starlight whats happened? has something kicked off on the big scary mn threads out there? I've started hiding threads now as things are getting silly.

DebiTheScot · 19/06/2009 22:26

lol star, I just saw your aibu thread

iom I used to sleep naked before children but don't now much to dhs disappointment!

But dh will be happy now as ds2 has refused his morning feed from me 3 days in a row now so looks like dh might get his boobs back!
