I thought I'd use this title as not all of our delicious babies are on the move yet, including mine

Happy Birthday Ninja and happy belated birthday Pacita, summer birthdays = outside parties right?
Well done Starlight at least it sounds as if you know what you're up against now, and so do they!
Still horribly hot here, I have no energy anymore. S'alright if you can just spend all day on the beach, but that's not really possible in RL!

Ponymum · 17/06/2009 21:10

OK, finally caught up!

digigirl - did you mention a netmums email? Surely that's a mistake?

foxy loved the link.

ninja - Happy birthday!

carriebo - LOL at locked in the loo! Of course it could never happen to me because I pee with the door open with DD on the floor watching me! Mind you, her attention span and the novelty are decreasing while her ability to move is rapidly increasing. I am learning to pee VERY quickly!

pacita - I am SO excited at your TTC news! If only my health were better we would be thinking about this around now too. But I need a little bit longer to really recover from the SPD (and appendectomy ) before putting my body through that again. Happy birthday too.

starlight - well done, that takes a lot of focus and energy.

As for us, DD is crawling, climbing, rolling, and... dancing! She started by jiggling along when I read Clip Clop to her on my knee, and now she rocks and jiggles in time to Iggle Piggle's song! (Although I secretly think, why Iggle Piggle? He's the lamest one of the lot. )

DP has man flu. I am embarrassingly unsympathetic. As far as I can work out, he's got some kind of mild tonsilitis, but you'd think the end was nigh, the way he's going on.

Happy birthday Ninja and un-birthday Pacita.

I have sunburn - for about the third time this month. I keep slathering T in suncream, but completely neglecting myself (and despite this, he is developing a bit of a pram tan). At this rate I'll be lucky to make it to 30 without skin cancer.

CarrieBo · 17/06/2009 21:25

Well we've had the house valued! Both estate agents gave the same price, but who do we go with?

Estate agent A: nice man, made nice comments about the house, would be perfectly happy

Estate agent B: bit smarmy but felt his pushier style would get the house sold quicker.

Also agent B prefers it if you're not home for viewings. We go out to groups every morning and have plenty of people we can descend on, so that should be ok, but could also be a pain.

Incidentally the price is about £10k less than I thought it would be...but we've always said we're in this to acutally sell and move, not to make mega bucks, and maybe we'll get £10k off the one we want to buy?

Sorry that's nothing to do with babies, but I value your opinions ladies!

imoscarsmum · 17/06/2009 21:56

Glad things seem to go OKish Starlight, keep on truckin' and stay confident if you can.

Happy belated birthday Ninja and Pacita

God, C is doing nothing of what you all speak - no cruising or pulling up, crawling, very little rolling, just sitting.

I have also been baaaad mummy and this has resulted in what goes around comes around (well in my head it does).
A couple of nights ago, DP and I were so exhausted (long story, no time, not sex before you ask) that we ate dinner at the kitchen table with C in her highchair, turned to face the kitchen TV watching ITNG!!!!
Bad, bad parents.
Should be talking and communing and having family discussions. Instead ate tea like zombies while C watched macca pacca wash stuff.

Clearly as punishment, my MIL has curtly informed me that when C goes to her once I'm back in work, she (and I quote) 'wants to spend all the time playing and having fun with C and so hasn't time to prepare lunch so can we bring C down with a packed lunch please?'

So, the little time I'll get with her in the morning will be reduced as I'll have to prepare a lunch for the old boot my MIL to give to C.
I shall prepare the messiest food possible{evil grin}.

Haven't the energy to post in AIBU, so - girls - AIBU to be pissed off with her?

Ponymum · 17/06/2009 22:08

carriebo - why don't you ask them questions about their sales completion process? These days a sale is more likely to fail after agreement and before completion, because buyers get the jitters over all sorts of little things. We found that it is worth going for the professional firms who have excellent experienced teams behind the scenes who handle the process up to completion to ensure you don't lose your buyer. Feeling comfortable with that person is possibly even more important than the front line sales person who probably won't stay involved after they have done their part.

As for the agents, the only two I would trust are the new-ish firm C with the purple logo, and the older firm H with navy blue and yellow. It is good to be out when the viewings happen. Some firms try to save money by getting you to do the viewings but they can fail to have momentum with the buying process, IMHO.

I was just about to email you, but I see you got there first! Sorry for the delay, tonight is my catch up night.

Ponymum · 17/06/2009 22:17

imoscarsmum - YANBU! Isn't she supposed to be helping instead of creating more work for you?

Also LOL at your bad parents tale, as that is exactly what happened here accidentally today. INTG was on in the sitting room and I hadn't had enough hands to turn it off before taking DD into the kitchen for her tea. While feeding her I realised she was craning her neck through the doorway so that she could still see Upsy Daisy cheering up Makka Pakka and giving Iggle Piggle full frontal kisses (little hussy that Upsy Daisy). So effectively my 9 mo baby was eating dinner in front of the telly!

Hopefully · 17/06/2009 23:03

DP confessed the other morning that while I had a lie in he spooned weetabix into T's mouth while he watched baby einstein...

Oh god, must stop knitting and go to bed!

CarrieBo · 17/06/2009 23:03

We shamelessly put our kids in front of ITNG tonight too while the estate agents were here!

imoscarsmum Ds is exactly the same with not moving, I'm trying to just enjoy it! And YANBU - what's MIL going to eat for lunch, can't she just make a bit extra?

Debs75 · 17/06/2009 23:18

Happy Birthday Ninja and Pacita
Good luck with the TTC Pacita IMO If she doesn't have time to make C's lunch then what about her own? And what isf she needs the loo?? Tell her C will happily eat what she eats. Robyn is always stealing our food.

We always eat tea when watching tv. (very bad parent emoticon) Our tv is on all the time as dp can not live without it (runs in his family) and ds uses it as a calming tool when he is upset.

Starlight well done on getting through the multi agency? meeting. They are really daunting aren't they.

ninja · 18/06/2009 07:45

How exciting pacita imoscarsmum why not say - don't worry about preparing something fancy I just gave her bread and cheese/ham/..., salad and fruit for lunch. Surely she can just plonk that in front of her. Doesn't she have to have lunch herself?

Am I the only one who's never watched ITNG? I've gone thro' all that kind of TV once (except it was the teletubbies with dd1) and I don't think I can face it again. I've even got all the baby einstein DVDs that were given to me and I've only got round to putting them on once

What should I do this morning - baby and toddler group or ... sleep?

Sunshinemummy · 18/06/2009 09:08

Honestly you should live with us if you worry about excessive tv consumption. We have 4 tvs, 3 Sky boxes and 2 DVD players! Poor DS is parked in front of Ben 10 every night while I bath Effy and get her to bed and Effy is frequently parked in front of the ITNG DVD or Baby Einstein while I get on with things!

CarrieBo · 18/06/2009 09:32

Ds was up being sick 5 times last night each time he went pale and sweaty and did this really unhappy cry. Seemed fine this morning then brought up all his breakfast
i don't know what to do with a poorly baby!

lollyheart · 18/06/2009 10:21

Oh poor babycarriebo i would just make sure he drinks plenty of fluids, dont worry to much about food as long as he is drinking, sounds like a bug, but if you're ring nhs direct to see what they say, i hate it when my dc are ill.

lollyheart · 18/06/2009 10:23

Its meant to say if you're worried then ring nhs direct, and ive just noticed it wasnt a question

Sunshinemummy · 18/06/2009 12:05

Carriebo sorry to hear your DS is ill. Agree with lollyheart you need to keep him hydrated. When DS was ill (he was about 8m young) the hospital advised us to give him dioralyte powder. Apparently it doesn't taste that nice so it's good to add blackcurrant juice to it.

Ponymum · 18/06/2009 12:58

carriebo that sounds like when DD was ill with her chest / nose / throat problems. She was sick just like that, and feverish. Does he have a temperature? When DD was sick and feverish we had to keep records of her temperature on a round-the-clock basis while keeping her topped up with Calpol and ibuprofen. Also liquids and wet nappies very important when they are being sick. If he is sick after feeds move to smaller feeds more often. Also I think I managed to help DD vomit less by keeping her still and quiet after each feed, rather than moving or jiggling about. (Might be just a theory though - at the time I was trying anything. ) Hope he is well soon.

CarrieBo · 18/06/2009 13:02

Thank you everyone. I'm giving him water in a bottle as he'll take more from that. He's also had some milk and I offered him an ellas kitchen packet coz I wasn't sure if he was hungry and you can always put them in the fridge if they're not finished. He was starving, but shortly after had two nasty bouts of diahorrea. Poor boy

I did baking for the first time with dd this morning. When we were eating the cookies I asked her if she could remember who made them and she looked at me slightly concerned that she might give the wrong answer and said 'Jesus...?' Bless her little heart!!!

Still think I'm a bit disappointed that the house wasn't valued as much as I thought. Even 5k more would have been a lot more encouraging. Hmm.

CarrieBo · 18/06/2009 13:05

ponymum just seen your post, no he's not got a temp, was just a bit cold and sweaty when he was throwing up last night.

Those of you with toddlers might like this really easy and very yummy recipe I found:

Butter Cookie Recipe Ingredients:
1/2 cup Butter
6 tablespoons icing Sugar
1/2 teaspoon Vanilla
1 tablespoon Cornsflour
3/4 cup Flour - sifted
pinch Salt

Time: 15 min
Serves: 12

Butter Cookie Recipe Instructions:
Mix butter and sugar and stir in other ingredients.
Roll into small balls about 3/4 inch in diameter.
Put on baking sheet and flatten each Cookie.
Bake 15 minutes at 300° F.
Remove from the oven and leave to cool on a wire rack.

Sunshinemummy · 18/06/2009 13:08

Carriebo the hospital also told us that milk is hard to keep down when you've got a bug so they suggested we stick to water and dioralyte.

CarrieBo · 18/06/2009 13:36

Thank you Does breastmilk count or is it just ff that should be avoided?

starlight do you have a keyworker for ds, or is there a keyworker service in your area? I used to work for a charity promoing keyworker services, evidence shows you can get better access to services than only having 'Working around the Team' (ROFL), at one point the government promised to put lots of money behind developing services, but I'm not sure what's happened in this area since I stopped work 2 1/2 years ago, and since the end of the Early Support funding.
