MistergodthisisSal · 21/08/2009 19:30

Scorps, sorry, I'm very boring on names (am very very traditional and am sticking to family names, much to the amusement of my family who thought me the one person who wouldn't! )

So taking this from someone with no real experience of "modern" names - I'm not keen on Maisie. Not extremely crazy about Lacey, but like it more than Maisie, definitely. Mind you, I'd probably go for Ermitrude, so don't listen a word to what I'm saying!

BR, bus sounds good - I hate changing with a buggy. For anyone planning on taking tube to Embankment, there's no lifts there either. Waterloo good though.

Scorps, you'll be with us in our minds!

VeeEsss · 22/08/2009 11:25

Personally, I'm not a fan of Maisie, which is hard because Ella/Panda's Godmother's only niece (whom she adores to pieces) is called Maisie and I told her it was a 'lovely name' Might be something to do with that bloody mouse programme. [shrug]

I DO like Lacey though and I think Jane is an incredibly beautiful under-used name.

KnitterInTheNW · 22/08/2009 21:33

Wow, what a fabulous day!

It was sooooo good to finally meet some of you, you're very lovely! And R, B and A are completely adorable, aren't we clever making such gorgeous children?!

G nodded off on the tube, and woke up after about 45 mins when we were nearly at Regents park. (After I'd popped into starbucks and Gap in Camden on the way!) We stayed til about 4:30, playing in one of the playgrounds, watching the ducks and walking through the rose gardens, and I got all misty-eyed remembering all the good times I'd had there when I was nannying in Camden. We got the bus back to Euston and found our 1st class seat (), and G kept the carriage entertained allthe way home. Although if I have to read the very hungry caterpillar again any time soon, I may need to jump off a cliff afterwards.

Thankyou for one of bestest days I've had in a very long time

Wow K you made the best of the rest of the day. What a good boy to fall asleep on cue and remain so! And what a surfeit of edible babies!! All looking gorrgeous and behaving beautifully. So nice to meet everyone at last. Sorry I had to rush off.

DS2 fell asleep as we left (well as soon as I'd extricated the balloon from the shade-a-babe) and stayed asleep even when DH and DS1 turned up to pick us up. Did some chores in Chelmsford and he woke up after 1 1/2 later.. Arrived home 25 minutes before our guests arrived close call!!

Hope you all had a safe journey and enjoyed your day.

How was your hen do LadyBee?

BR

MistergodthisisSal · 22/08/2009 23:38

It was indeed a lovely meetup, thanks for everyone coming over, and anyone who couldn't make it, I'm really hoping we'll meet in real life some day, it feels like I've known you all for years!

Knitter, glad you got to enjoy the rest of your day so much! Clearly G is made for travelling, hehe.

Bunnyrabbit, you made me laugh just there with your tactfulness. For anyone not there, all the children except R was very well behaved! / He was on a roll trying to escape, caught him half way to the Thames at one stage! Clearly the poor boy can't take it anymore, lol.

Well done on getting home before the guests!

Had babysitter and went for dinner and a movie (Coco before Chanel) with dh tonight - was lovely. Also drank most of the jug of Sangria myself...

MyMamaToldMe · 23/08/2009 19:28

It was really great meeting you all! You are all as fab in real life as you are on MN! Glad you enjoyed the rest of your afternoon Knitter - I felt bad I couldn't spend it with you, especially as you came all this way. And what a good little boy you have - he is just gorgeous - actually they all are! I wish Gigi had been okay to bring along - I am sure she would have loved to met your boys. BR - hope the traffic wasn't too bad in Chelmsford.

I had a lovely rest of the day with my SIL and nephews. So sad they are gone now back to Dubai.

Scorps - not so fond of Maisie either. Still a big fan of Amber Lacey.

MyMamaToldMe · 23/08/2009 19:29

PS - VeeEss - how is Panda?

MistergodthisisSal · 23/08/2009 20:09

How is Gigi today? R had a funny tummy yesterday afternoon, but seems to be back to normal today.

We went to the movies last night, saw Coco before Chanel. Brilliant, highly recommended.

IUsedToBePeachy · 23/08/2009 20:18

OOh poor Panda, bas had it and the after effects just kept hanging on- almost there now though. Poor baby.

Like Scorps am at you all meeting up, most unfair.

not much going on here; I'm waitng for Uni to decide if they can squeeze another one in on the MA in ASD course as my brain is srying up but thats about it I think. BAs doing well- turned into a realtoddler, camping at weekend and really enjoyed watching him running bare footed through the wet grass

MistergodthisisSal · 23/08/2009 20:40

Ah, sounds lovely, Peachy. Sorry, not sure how I missed Bas having SF too, but glad to hear he's better now.

We're eventually going on our camping trip (that I went on and on about earlier ) weekend after next, and I'm looking at tents now. Am really excited!

bunnyrabbit · 24/08/2009 09:46

Hope all the bubbas with Swine Flu are feeling better.

Peachy, grat weahter for camping isn't it. So enjoyed our camping the other week and we're off again this weekend coming. I have waterproof trousers and booties for DS2 as he is still not walking. Bum shuffling on wet grass can be very messy!!

Sal, didn't know you were about to camp. is it your first time?

BR

EllieG · 24/08/2009 10:43

Hey all!

peachy - was wondering where you had got to! Forgot you was on hols, glad you had a nice time

Was great meeting all you ladies on sat and lovely seeing the babes too! They are all very, very cute, bless their little cotton socks. And sal, contrary to what she says on here, does not actually have a big bum either. Not that I was looking of course

Molly was ever so pleased to see me, came runnign up in the airport going 'Mamamamamama!' and then remembered I'd left her and wouldn't look at me for ten mins until I tickled her lots and she forgave me. And last night she slept all the way through (she woke 4 times a night while I was away) cos she was happy her mummy had come home. And I was happy too

Scorps · 24/08/2009 10:45

You are all gits for meeting without me.

And i am going to name the baby bob, because no-one (you lot, me, DH!) can decide her name. Sigh.

Zac is here this week. I had a nice break, but back to rl so soon!

Hope all SF babies are feeling better, poor things . Goign to take my tribe out for a walk, now. [brave]

VeeEsss · 24/08/2009 10:55

Nought wrong with Bob(by)

I think you should her Nancy.

Panda is getting a bit better, he had a temp of about 40c for three days, was so lethargic and just sat on me all weird-eyed Now he is just a bit 'off' iyswim. We decided against giving him the tamiflu though what with it not having had many tests and the supposed side-effect of vomiting when he was still drinking really well, didn't want to have dehydration on top of temp (which came down quite a lot with calpol).

hello hello!
Well, what a lovely weekend. After meeting all you fab ladies and babies (sorry I was a bit late..and then had to run away stupidly fast), I had a great 'hen'..we had food, drinks, wandering about, big chats, more food, coctails, coincidental celeb encounters, a beautiful dinner and then..karaoke and quite a lot more drinks
I haven't had a night like that, literally for years.
DP was excellent the next day, made me a medicinal breakfast and then I was able to go back to bed for a nap. He also took B out to the park in the afternoon so that I could skulk on the couch and watch crap property programmes.
Knitter, BR and Ellie, it was really lovely to meet you, even though briefly, on Saturday. You do actually match up quite well to how I'd imagined you (which is nice)..Sal and MMTM it was good to see you both again too, sorry Gigi wasn't able to come but R was in excellent (and entertaining) form as ever . I'm definitely remembering the pack of cards as entertainment too...excellent tip!

MistergodthisisSal · 24/08/2009 23:48

Aww, thanks for the kind words, Ladybee! Hope you have no bruises from the R-attack!

Your hen do sounds amazing, and d(almost)h lovely!

MistergodthisisSal · 25/08/2009 08:59

Off to spend the day at the Home Office for our Indefinite Leave to Remain papers. Urgh. hopefully not taking up all day.

paranoidmummy · 25/08/2009 09:06

I haven't had time to read through properly but remembered VS had replied the other day and didn't want to ignore! Thank you for the offer but I did LOADS and LOADS of reading on it in thye end and still couldn't make my mind up. Had an appt with my fab registrar yesterday who was quite pro the natural way but after weighing up all the pros and cons I have opted for a c section. Still not 100% sure it was the righht way to go but I just couldn't think of enough reasons to go for the natural. I'm such a worrier as it is, that with all the added risks I thought I may as well take off some of the pressure! I feel a little sad that I will never have a natural labour but so pleased to have finally made up my mind! Plus my little girl will be here 3 weeks Friday so for the first time ever ever I will not be going overdue!

This was only meant to be a quick post so sorry!xXx

EllieG · 25/08/2009 09:07

I vote for Nancy too, think is a lovely name. Was on my shortlist but didn't go well with surname.

Hen do sounds luverly ladybee - which celebs did you meet? When I was wandering round Borough Market last weekend I saw Martin from Eastenders who was in a shop I was. He is all growed up and quite tall and good-looking and actually very posh, as he was buying foie gras.

EllieG · 25/08/2009 09:09

Natural labours aren't all they are cracked up to be. When I got to the end of mine I asked if please could I have a c-section but they wouldn't let me cos there wasn't any reason to other than me being a 'fraidy cat. Important thing is that you have a lovely little baby, and that you are happy and healthy too, not how baby gets out.

bunnyrabbit · 25/08/2009 09:19

ladybee, sounds like a fantastic Hen made even better by your DH being so understanding the next day.

pm, I've had two 'natural' births and you really don't want to know the details of what they do to your inside and outside bits . Agree with Ellie, baby will come out, you already know when, so can get your birth announcements ready lol..... very excited for you.

BR

MistergodthisisSal · 25/08/2009 09:24

Agree, just knowing you've made your decision already takes away a lot of the stress. I loved my cs too - if you know it could very likely end up emergency anyway, I found it relaxing to know that I could relax in the knowledge that medical stuff sorted - and I could look forward to meeting ds. All very close and relaxed, I wouldn't have wanted it any other way.

MistergodthisisSal · 25/08/2009 09:26

Oh cool Ellie. Gmpf, you lot meet celebrities - I just mix with the plebs! )

Scorps · 25/08/2009 18:45

I agree with whatever ensures the 'best' delivery for the baby, but having had 3 (easy) vb i am very pro them, and a cs (elective or emergency) scares me and to me, would only be as the very last (ie baby's life) resort. Vb is nothing to fear. My bits look and feel no different (and i wouldnt care if they did - i have had babies)and i recover fast. I do appreciate some people have a rough time, yes, but sometimes i think people can be too eager for a cs without experiencing or attempting a vb.

I was so scared at the prospect of my first birth, that i asked for a cs at about 20 weeks antenatal, for term. Doctors said no way. Then, later, i had to have several scans for pelvic disproportion (i have small bones and big babies, they had to check baby could fit through pelvis) and suddenly the reality of a cs at age 17 was something i did not want to do.

Now i feel that if i had a cs with dd2, i would personally feel like i hadn't given birth to her, and would probably suffer emotionally for it.

However, this is all just my opinion and that's all. I do understand the benefits of cs to some.

Holidays going ok here with the 4 dc and baby bump, Z a handful as usual and things about his mother coming out of the woodwork again....but nowt new there. Had a nice day in the park, ice-cream etc. DH behaving himself and not even farting unless i say (iyswim)
