Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Scorps · 23/07/2009 13:07

My friend just said hygiene measures (doing anyway) and no visiting there for a week or so. i agree, yes?

Scorps · 23/07/2009 13:08

Ellie they are not preventative orescribing here anymore

KnitterInTheNW · 23/07/2009 13:14

Call NHS direct or swine flu hotline thingy and ask... stress that you're pg.

OP posts:
Scorps · 23/07/2009 13:15

have looked on nhs direct & directgov and it just says if you are pg & have symptoms then get drugs.

Reilly's dad is a slight hypocondriac though, and may just have a cold himself...

Scorps · 23/07/2009 13:20

incubation period about 2-5 days, so i won't actually know anything for that time. Am keeping Rreilly away for that time.

DH has to take his work mate home - heavily (39 week) pg wife has sf symptoms and their 3 yr old, who has already had cancer poor them.

EllieG · 23/07/2009 13:25

Oh poor lady.
I think you just have to keep an eye then and keep washing hands lots and making sure using tissues etc all the usual.

Scorps · 23/07/2009 13:28

i think thats the best thing at mo Ellie, MW said GPs here aren't always prescribing to pg women unless severe symptoms as drugs have not been trialled on pg women. (MWs and GPs here are quite 'hippyish' in ways - is mega easy to get HB, high BF rates, there is natural therapist upstairs...)

Scorps · 23/07/2009 13:46

I'm very excited, i have just had a slight shopping accident.....for Dexter DC4

here
Can go in until 6 months ish, then it will have mimi's cot and she will have little toddler bed that DH has seen for her. Will then re-sell crib or keep cos DH admitted he doesnt want the snip 'just incase' LOL

EllieG · 23/07/2009 14:11

When do they go into little beds? I want to leave Molly in cot for as long as possible as am short of space

SalLikesCoffee · 23/07/2009 14:11

Scorpio, I'm sorry you have to go through all this stress! Will keep everything crossed that you'll stay sf-free!

Work a little stressful at the moment, but just stuff going on, not so much extra work. Hope to sort it out in the next week or so and return to normality.

Knitter, would be lovely if you could book, thanks. If not, give me a shout and I can book. It'll be me and R, I think, but might leave him at home if he and dh want to go off and do boys' things.

I know it's going back a while, but re going away for a weekend on your own - yes, we've done it too, and although I won't do it too often, it was good at the time.

Back to work, will try and chat again tonight.

xxx

Scorps · 23/07/2009 14:15

Ellie - an actual bed, about 2.5 if she will fit in cot

Mimi will go in a toddler bed at 2 cos dc4 will need the cot, thats all. Have you looked at smaller beds, some do up unti lage 7 ish?

Scorps · 23/07/2009 14:16

junior bed

LadyBee · 23/07/2009 23:24

hey, sorry not around regularly. VS/other name I can't remember, lovely to see you and so sorry to hear of troubles at the nursery, that must be awful to go through, but as Ellie said, it's absolutely the best thing to have done. Any of us would want someone to do exactly the same thing if our babies were in the same situation.

Knitter, did you book? Put me down for one plus a highchair if poss please. And if you don't want to book I will ask Sal to .

Scorpio, you were bound to come into contact with it sooner or later, just keep up the good hygiene and call for advice if you start feeling off, so that you can take meds early if needed.
That's a lovely crib...and that's what I was going to ask...pillows? When do we give them pillows? at the moment DS doesn't have one and is just in a sleeping bag but he does like to snuggle up on our pillows when gets the chance and I wondered what everyone else was doing.

Knitter, BabyBee has also been waking and needing comfort to go back to sleep - in fact the other night, he woke from 1 to 3 every 30 mins, so in the end I brought him into our bed and he slept peacefully there until morning. This NEVER happens, he must have really wanted comfort/company. The next night was better, I was worried he'd get into a habit but he slept the night back in his cot without too much disturbance.
He has this rash thing by his mouth, I think it's from the extra dribble, but it looks a bit nasty..anyone use anything for this sort of thing?

KnitterInTheNW · 24/07/2009 07:23

Hi LadyBee!

Pillows - the DC I've nannoied for have had a flat pillow when they go into a big girl/boy's bed. G likes to lounge around on our pillows too. It'll be no pillow til big bed for him!

Dribble rash - vaseline! It acts as a bit of a barrier so the constant dribble doesn't dry the skin out too much.

Haven't booked yet, it's on my list of things to today. If I book for 6 adults, 3 highchairs and an extra chair for bunnyrabbit's older DC (I think she said she's bringing them both? Actually does she have 2 or 3?), then if we need extra it should be easy enough to squeeze an extra highchair or 2 round the table.

G is so miserable at the moment, he's needed his dodie (that's what they call dummies up here!) almost all day for the last few days, I think maybe the constant jaw movements are helping with his toothache (well gum ache really because the teeth aren't actually here yet!) Normally he only has it in bed, or if we're out when he really ought to be in bed. Think we'll be doing dodie bootcamp too when he's better!

bunnyrabbit · 24/07/2009 09:19

Hi guys,
VS, you so did the right thing. You should be congratulated and rewarded not have to put up with that sort of crap.

Scorps, I think most of us will be joining you sooner or later. Hope you've got planty of DVDs and you're all ok.

I have 2 DSs but will only be bringing DS2 so just one high chair and an adult chair please.

Pillows: we gave one to DS1 when he went into a bed, but to be honest he still doesn't really use it. I think it's more for show as a lot of the time he doesn't sleep on it.

BR

SalLikesCoffee · 24/07/2009 09:41

I'll second Vaseline (or any kind of oily ointment, really - sometimes I use the Green Baby one which smells lovely) for dribble, which R is also doing a lot lately. Still gets the odd rash on his chin, but a lot better than without a barrier.

R's waking up more than usual lately, so I wonder if it's just something they go through at this age then? Have been thinking of trying for another, but then some nights change it into a definite "another couple of years" thing!

Do any of you have any weekend plans? Nothing planned here, but just so glad it is weekend anyway! Might do a picnic in the park (well, just us 3) tomorrow if the weather is good.

VS, not sure if you're around still, but if so, just remember - doing the right thing more often than not results in p...ing someone off. It's still the right thing to do, and if you didn't, it would affect children's lives. So even though the parents don't even know it, I'd like to thank you on their behalf. I'd hope someone does something similar if there were issues at R's nursery.

Now - back to work with me.

bunnyrabbit · 24/07/2009 12:22

We're off to here on Saturday....

Scorps · 24/07/2009 13:29

LadyBee - we don't do pillows until big bed here but he can have one now cos he is over 12 months

Sal - We are going to watch fights on Sunday all day child free , i will be home at 7ish, DH will go on to club after. Don't know what to do tomorrow, maybe a pop in town with DH and kiddies. Oooooh another one, eh? Sleeping can always be up and down for years, i wouldn't let that put you off tbh - though be warned, 1 to 2 is a shock (was for me anyhow!!!)

Ryans (R's dad) GF is quite poorly, and Ryan is poorly too, has had tamiflu. Reilly isnt going there for 2 weeks now (arrggghhhhh). Got them Mario Kart for their wii today - i havent seen them since

I feel happy today, donated my moses basket to a family in 'need', i hope it helps them

Had to take paracetemol today have banging headache (again), i must drink more water i think and relax a little bit more.

Scorps · 24/07/2009 13:31

Mimi is teething too, but seems ok [touches wood]. She will need vaseline on her 'tuc' (we call chests tucs here, im not sure why but Reilly used to call it Tuc for years and its stuck....)she is dribbling a lot and now has a little collection of tiny spots there, iyswim?

20 week scan 2 weeks today at 1130

Oh and friend was all fine, no SF, btw. (the v pg one)

KnitterInTheNW · 24/07/2009 14:12

Bloomin' teeth... poor little mites! One of g's top ones is almost through, and is dribbling like a very dribbly thing too.

On the Giraffe site it says that you can't book for brunches at weekends between 9am and 5:30pm. I'd have thought we'd be ok arriving at 11 though, at least even if they don't have a table free for us we can still have a drink and chat while we wait.

OP posts:
bunnyrabbit · 24/07/2009 14:18

Tucus (and Tuc) has an entirely diffferent meaning to me....

LadyBee · 24/07/2009 22:02

We have the little spots in the rash too, it's cleared up a bit now though, thanks to a bit of vaseline, but my little boy was looking quite crusty for a bit there

Well I'm at home all next week, my lovely CM is off for a well-deserved family holiday so I'm on full time SAHM duty.

I'm partly looking forward to it, as I really love this age with DS, he's can be just gorgeous with his hugs and bringing me toys, and chasing me around the house. But I also know it'll be a bit of shock being back at home all day. So I've got some outings planned - meeting up with friends mostly.

BR that history fest looks fab...I'm sure DP can't wait for DS to be a bit older so he can take him off to things like that.

So did everyone go away for lovely weekends?
Hellooooooooooooo (helloooo hellooo helloo)

I need to get new specs - B broke my old pair. I'm not too upset about it as they needed replacing anyway, but as I have terrible sight they always cost a bomb to get thin lenses etc. This comes just after we've spent way more than we wanted to get our car MOT'ed. Why do these things always come at the same time?

Right, so, I have volunteered to look after a friend's 1yr DD this friday. Do I need to know anything about looking after 2 at once? I've already realised that I probably need to bring changing stuff downstairs as I'll need to keep an eye on one while changing the other. Hints & tips please? We won't have a double buggy so am pretty much stuck at home for the day.

KnitterInTheNW · 26/07/2009 21:33

Hi LadyBee!

I have the same probs with specs. Can barely see a thing without either contacts or specs! My contacts are -7.5 in each eye.

Hints and tips for 2? Make sure you have things easily grabbable that B likes, to distract him while you're changing the little girl's nappy etc. Somewhere 'safe' where you can leave one or the other while you take the other up to bed or up to fetch them. (or pop to the loo!) Do you have a sling? I used my sling and single buggy just for a walk to the shops when I first started having my friend's DS, before we got the double. Shame you're so far away, double is now just sitting in the garage and you could have borrowed it!

We stayed here for the weekend, mostly just me & G again while DH does many things to the new house.
