PS meant to say, wow isn't she a good eater? Great range of food!!

SuzeMcG · 10/07/2009 17:16

Good idea BR, I will try to get another snack into her before bed. She was tucking in to afternoon tea when I collected her. She seems happy in the nursery now so that's good. The staff said that they would make her lunch more mushy and spend a little more time with her to get her to eat, but that children often don't eat much there in the first few weeks.

Have a good weekend.

Scorps · 10/07/2009 17:20

Some babies are just milk refusers after a while. Mimi has her tea at 5pm, plays for a bit if no bath that day, pj's nappy at 6pm, then bottle with Daddy. He then puts her in her cot awake, she is asleep after 5 mins (no crying) and thats it til 7.30am. Her last bottle is milk, she has milk with breakfast, and last thing of the day. Other times she has water.

You are warming the milk?
(sure you are, lol)

To me she does sound hungry first thing, i bet once you get a good lunch in her it will settle. Does she 'do' lunch well on weekends? What do you have comapred to nursery? at our nursery the meals are main meals iyswim - pasta, cottage pie, spag bol etc. She may prefer a sarnie or cracker type meal, you could do a fruit salad, etc.

If she won't take much milk make sure she has cheese/yog daily, i try to with mimi.

What about she has her tea, then before bed (twenty minutes?) she gets offfered toast and warm milk beaker or rich tea or weetabix? does she do beakers - maybe if you are giving bottle she wants to do it herself? Mimi is obsessed with Doidy cup.

Sorry for my ramblings

Scorps · 10/07/2009 17:26

Oh & Reilly's dad is a knobber.

SuzeMcG · 10/07/2009 17:33

Will give all this a go, thanks Scorpio. A snack before bed might help.

She eats lunch well at home, about the same amount as at dinner. I give her lots of yoghurts, cheese, not too worried about her drinking milk (she doesn't like cows milk).

She has the ready made Aptamil at room temp, I only warm it a little if it has been in the fridge.

At nursery they give her things like chicken stir fry, pasta, etc. Today it was risotto, which she should have managed but she wasn't interested.

Sorry Reilly's dad is being a knobber! What's he done?

Scorps · 10/07/2009 17:43

just usual immaturity i should come to expect by now! He has inr=troduced Reilly to 4 new gf's in 3 weeks - even though i have said no. I had a go at him last week; only for him to do it again! Cos he has different opinions to me on it all, apparantly. LOL He said him and his new 'gf' were serious. PMSL. She is 20, i think, maybe 19. 3 before that were 17 , he is 26. nuff said.

He just doesnt have a clue, about anything.

Scorps · 11/07/2009 18:32

Right, have just discovered another girl who is mimi's keyworker is leaving nuraery. Mimi is too now. Thats made it for me i think.

Suze - hows it going?

I can feel the baby

LadyBee · 11/07/2009 21:04

oh Scorpio I'm so

I've had three lovely pieces of news recently, (all to do with friends, not me, but am enjoying their happiness!).

  1. Friend A is pregnant with 2nd, conceived after quick and successful IVF. Am v pleased it has worked (again) and thrilled she hasn't been put through hell.
  1. Friend B has received a decent offer on their house and can now hopefully move to Sarf London (which is where all the best people live ) and I can see her more easily.
  1. Friend C has got engaged. Which is just lovely.

I'm finished stressing about my dress and am now stressing about wedding invitations

Ellie, I completely understand the comment about them crying more now - it does seem sometimes as if everything ends in tears at the moment, if it's not DS getting frustrated because he's done everything he's allowed to do and wants to move on to pulling everything off shelves/climbing on the tv/eating the wipes, so gets told 'no' and moved. Or he's fallen over because he thinks he can run/climb stairs/balance on the windowsill. Sigh.

I do wonder whether he's like this at his CM, or whether she has such fabulous toy selection or the company of her girls is enough to keep him happily occupied the entire day. I am already contemplating buying one of those toy kitchen things like she has

KnitterInTheNW · 11/07/2009 21:46

I'm back!!

LadyBee, B prob isn't like that with his CM. I've had years and years of getting the 'best' of the children I've looked after. They're always 'nicer' for everyone except their mummies! G is a tinker for me too. Perfectly fine for everyone else. It's just the way it is! He can be happily playing and being lovely, then the second I walk in he's all whingey and moany and clingy. Not all the time, mostly if I've been away from him. Even for 10 mins.

So lovely to hear you feeling your baby, Scorps!

OP posts:
SuzeMcG · 12/07/2009 12:12

That's lovely, Scorps.

E slept 7.30pm-7.30am on Sat (despite not eating much on Friday) and until 6am today. Fingers crossed this continues! She was singing baabaa to the tune of Baa Baa Black Sheep, she must have learned it in the nursery because I never sing it. Very funny.

Ladybee, what is your dress like?

E definitely acts up for me.

KnitterInTheNW · 12/07/2009 18:42

Ooo yes, what's your dress like LadyBee?

Denny185 · 12/07/2009 19:14

Evening all, did u have a nice break Knitter?

Happy belated b-day Peachy, did u get spoilt for the day.

Scorps, boy or girl, do u need to know for sorting rooms out. I didnt know for the first 2 but did for 3rd, think i prefered not knowing TBH.

All good here, Dh took weekend off work so didnt have to tiptoe round house (he should have been on nights). Went to a friends b-day party yesterday and been to gym this am and swimming with kids this pm. Schools break up on Thurs, booo.

DD2 is crying quite a bit these days too, generally due to falling from her climbing experiments, found her on kitchen table this am, thankfully she didnt fall on that occasion. She is definately more adventerous than the other 2.

LadyBee · 12/07/2009 22:34

don't Denny, I keep finding B in places I don't expect, so far the table isn't one of them but I think it's only a matter of time.
He has a massive bruise across his temple today from his latest tumble - it's almost embarrassing.

Went to Coram's Fields today - it's fab. Fully enclosed child-friendly park in the middle of London, close to the British Museum. Lots of play areas, some animals (goats, ducks, birds, sheep), cafe with chocolate cake. All good. B spent an age in the sandpit, and also walked a lot longer & further than I thought he'd be able to do. I guess I only really see him walking around the house & garden so hard to see what he's capable of.

Knitter, hello! I find it very comforting to know that even professional childcarers have babies who act up for them

You will all have to wait til october to find out about the dress...just like everyone else

Sal, did you get the sleep rhythms sorted a bit this weekend?

Scorp - personally I'm planning on not finding out for a second baby but it makes no difference to us for rooms or family balance or preparing the children or whatever.

KnitterInTheNW · 13/07/2009 00:01

Hi Denny, Hi LadyBee!

Holiday was lovely thanks Denny, although me and mum had to remind the menfolk on day 2 that it was OUR holiday too, and that it wasn't fair for them to be sitting around letting us do everything. Men!

I 'needed' to know what sex G was, I'd knitted enough neutral stuff and wanted to get on with blue or pink!

George is everywhere too, I popped out this afternoon to do some Avon-ing and left him here with mum & dad. Came back to be told that he can easily climb up onto the picnic table in the back garden, and thinks it's v funny to crawl up and down the table. It's like their legs can't not climb, isn't it!

Talking of Avon, if any of you lovely ladies who are coming to the meet-up would like anything, would you like to have a look at the Avon site and let me know what you'd like? The next order I'll be putting in will be delivered to me on August 4th, and the one after that will be after the meet-up. So, if anything takes your fancy I can order it with this lot and bring it with me for you.

OP posts:
bunnyrabbit · 13/07/2009 09:11

Climb? You mean get of his bottom? PMSL!!

bunnyrabbit · 13/07/2009 09:13

To clarify: DS1 is still not walking/standing/cruising/climbing. Why should he when he can sit on his bum, call you put his arms up and point where he wants to go !!

KnitterInTheNW · 13/07/2009 10:39

lol BR, typical male, started early hasn't he!!

OP posts:
bunnyrabbit · 13/07/2009 10:47

Sorry that should say DS2! DS1 is nearly 6 ...

He's animated enough and talkative but he only crawls a little and bum shuffles all over the place. So wanted him walking before we go camping in 3 weeks......

KnitterInTheNW · 13/07/2009 13:08

George only started walking when I bought him shoes (cruiser ones from Clarks)... they were magic shoes! He wouldn't even take his weight on his feet before magic shoes, and was happily walking around holding onto fingers 5 minutes after putting them on. He only started walking on his own a few weeks ago though.

OP posts:
EllieG · 13/07/2009 13:13

BR - sounds quite sensible to me - good on him!

Hey knitter - glad your hol was good. Will check out the Avon stuff

Ladybee - that coram's field looks lovely, really fab place to take the LOs.

Hi denny

scorps - find out, cos I want to know

M has slept beautifully for the last few nights - is SO lovely getting some sleep. Massive difference when I put a bottle of water in her cot and showed her where it was, so she can help herself in the night and doesn't need me to get for her. I think she just gets thirsty, doesn't want the attention, just wants drink poor little mite. Am not drawing any conclusions that this will last, cos it never does, but has been nice to have a few good nights for a change.

She's loving the moving round now too - not so good of climbing but runs everywhere as fast as her little legs will take her - I quite often find this little person launching herself at me to cuddle my knees when I'm washing up, which is very endearing.

RIGHT - very important - where are we going to go when we meet up? Ladybee - where is a good lunch place to take babies but not be too kiddie-ish if you don't have yours with you?

bunnyrabbit · 13/07/2009 13:45

Great news Ellie. A few good nights sleep makes all the difference. That's very sweet that she cuddles your legs .

Right KITN, That's it then. I will buy him come cruisers. Sorted. Done. I'll get them Sunday and he'll be walking by next Monday!!!!!

I've never even heard of Coram's Fields. How can it be hidden away in the middle of London??

Scorps.... so exciting. Remember that feeling so well. I can't wait much longer... I'm terribly impatient.

BR

KnitterInTheNW · 13/07/2009 14:06

Actually, how on earth did I not know about Coram's Fields either? I lived and nannied in Camden for 3 years before I moved oop North...

BR, I'm going to laugh so hard if magic shoes work for you too! Was it LadyBee who also bought magic shoes for B?

Re:meetup. Where's everyone coming from? I think we're NW aren't we Ellie, and Sal and LadyBee are SE? Is that right? Where else? My boss used to take her little girl to the Giraffe restaurant near the wheel I think? Is that the right kind of place? Oh yum... look at the menu! and they have cocktails too!. I haven't been though, is it too kiddyish? There are quite a few round London by the look of it. Do we need a wet weather plan and a dry weather one? Knitter explodes with excitement

OP posts:
bunnyrabbit · 13/07/2009 14:38

Have been to the Giraffe in Spittal Fields with work collleagues, and it was lovely.

One of my firends has been to the other Giraffes lots with his sister and niece and says they're great for kids.

BR

Scorps · 13/07/2009 16:06

Ellie i will find out just for you ....i think DH wants to know, so i think we will find out, im not against knowing...so 3 weeks friday it is!

Boy will be Dexter/Mason William [surname]

For a girl, we are stuck. Only name i like is Lacey. No middle names, no other first names....i like americany nicknamey names iyswim....not traditional (for first name but yes please for middle) but not silly, nothing like Neavaeh [bleurgh]. Not Tia/Mia. Not too old ladyish either and not same letter as anyone elses name in our family (s,k,z,r,j,m).

Got midwife on Wednesday.

Hello to everyone DH is off to Greece in 2 weeks, only for for 4 nights though, for a relaxing piss up holiday.

KnitterInTheNW · 13/07/2009 16:45

William is a good choice for a middle name, Scorps! (Not that I'm biased or anything...)

Umm... Names... How about something like Tegan? (I think pronounced with a long 'e' sound)
